Introduction

In today's video, we will learn how to install Facebook pixel and enable conversion API on Shopify. Before we can connect our Facebook pixel, there are a few steps we need to follow. We need to create a Facebook business page, create a business manager account, create a Facebook ads account, and create a Facebook pixel. Once we have completed these steps, we can proceed with the installation process.

1. Creating a Facebook Business Page

The first step is to create a Facebook page. Login to your Facebook account and navigate to the Pages section. Click on "Create a new page" and provide the necessary information such as the page name, category, and description. Once you have filled in the details, click on "Create Page."

2. Setting up a Facebook Business Manager Account

To create a Facebook business manager account, go to business.facebook.com and choose to log in or create an account. If you already have existing accounts, you can select them. Inside the Facebook business manager, click on "Ads Manager" to add a new ad account and go to business settings. Here, you can create a new ad account by providing a name, timezone, and currency. Click on "Next" to continue.

3. Creating a Facebook Ads Account

In the ad account creation process, you need to choose how the account will be used. Select your business and click on "Create." Enable the toggle to manage the account and click on "Assign" to proceed. You will then be prompted to add your payment information. For the purpose of this demonstration, you can skip this step.

4. Creating a Facebook Pixel

To create a new Facebook pixel, go to the "Data Sources" section and click on "Pixels." Click on "Add" and provide a name for your new pixel. Paste your domains and click on "Continue." Choose to set up the pixel now and select the code using partner integration. From the options available, select Shopify.

5. Setting up the Facebook Pixel in Shopify

Inside your Shopify admin, go to preferences and scroll down to choose "Facebook Pixel." Click on "Setup Facebook" and follow the instructions to connect your Facebook ads account. Under the business assets tab, find your page and click on "Connect." Manage your Facebook and Instagram data sharing preferences and set them to the maximum level to track customer activity data effectively. Save the changes.

6. Connecting the Facebook Ads Account to Shopify

In this step, you need to select the Facebook pixels you want to use for this account. Make sure to choose the correct ones that were created earlier. Accept the terms and conditions and click on "Submit for Review." Once the setup is complete, click on "Done" to proceed.

7. Managing Facebook and Instagram Data Sharing Preferences

To test if the Facebook pixel is working, enter your domain to send test traffic. Check if the pixel is active, then click on "Next" and "Finish."

8. Verifying the Domain

Next, click on "Add People" and select your Facebook account. Provide full control access to your newly created pixel and click on "Assign." Go to "Connect to Test Sets," click on "Assets," and select your ads manager. Click on "Done" to complete the process.

9. Setting up Events in the Events Manager

To verify your domain, go to Brand Safety Domains and choose to create a new domain. Paste your link and click on it. Copy the meta tag and go to your Shopify admin. Under the "Online Store" section, choose "Edit Code" and paste the domain verification from Facebook. Save the changes and go back to Facebook to click on "Verify Domain." It may take up to 72 hours for Facebook to find your meta tag, so some patience is required.

10. Testing the Facebook Pixel

In the Events Manager, click on "Manage Prioritized Events." Make sure your domain is verified, and click on it to manage the event. Set up four events: content view, add to cart, checkout initiate, and purchase. Follow the instructions provided in the screenshot. Finally, go to the "Test Events" section in the Events Manager. Enter your store URL, click on "Open Website," and navigate through your pages and products. Add items to the cart and make a test purchase to verify that the Facebook pixel is tracking all activities properly.
