Let me take you back to last year, around April or May 2020, during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic. At the time, I was a student with little income and uncertain prospects. I found myself stuck at home, pondering how I could generate revenue without being able to work. That's when I stumbled upon a YouTube channel that changed my life forever. This American YouTuber introduced me to the world of dropshipping through his "From $0 to $10,000 in a Month" challenge. Intrigued, I decided to give it a shot and see if I could replicate his success.

Starting the Dropshipping Journey

Armed with newfound knowledge and determination, I began my own dropshipping venture. In his videos, the YouTuber used a platform called Shopify, so naturally, I opted for the same. I started by creating my first dropshipping store, focusing on a niche that was in high demand at the time: personalized products. This niche allowed customers to create custom-designed t-shirts, caps, and other accessories. I sourced these products from a supplier that handled production and shipping, while I concentrated on marketing and driving sales.

The Challenges of Dropshipping

As with any business venture, dropshipping presented its fair share of challenges. Initially, I relied heavily on Instagram for advertising. I reached out to popular Instagram pages to promote my products, hoping to generate sales. Unfortunately, this strategy didn't yield significant results. Despite investing around $60 in Instagram promotions, I barely made any sales. This setback left me discouraged, and I took a break from dropshipping for a couple of days.

Undeterred, I returned with renewed determination. This time, I decided to try Facebook ads. I educated myself by watching numerous YouTube tutorials, as I wasn't inclined to spend money on courses. I launched Facebook ads for my fitness-related dropshipping site, investing a mere $26.94. To my disappointment, I didn't achieve any sales. It seemed like I was burning through my budget without any tangible results.

Not one to give up easily, I continued my search for success in the dropshipping realm. I discovered that many successful dropshipping stores focused on selling a single product. This approach promised simplicity and reduced the chances of overwhelming website visitors. Intrigued by this strategy, I began exploring single-product stores and their potential.

Finding Success with Dropshipping

To increase my chances of success, I turned to various tools and techniques to identify winning products. I used platforms like Icom and other research tools to analyze product demand, estimated costs, and potential profit margins. After careful consideration, I decided to test a hair curling tool as my first single-product website. I optimized the website, set up payment methods, and prepared for advertising.

I went back to Facebook ads, starting my campaign at midnight for greater control and organization. Within 15 minutes of launching the ads, I made my first sale. This initial success gave me hope, and I continued running the ads throughout the day. By the end of the first day, I had made two sales, generating a total of $100 in revenue. Considering the product was priced at $50, I had made a profit of $15 per sale. It may not have been substantial, but it showed promise.

Eager to replicate my success, I continued advertising the following day. However, my luck seemed to dwindle as I failed to make any further sales. With my funds running low, I made the difficult decision to suspend my ads. Although disheartened, I reminded myself that my initial success had proven the potential of dropshipping. It was clear that, to fully harness its benefits, I needed more financial resources to invest in advertising.

Overcoming Setbacks

To regain momentum, I turned to what was known as "testing." Testing involved finding profitable products through trial and error. I conducted several tests, investing around $50 to $100, using various applications and dropshipping platforms. While not all of these tests were successful, they provided valuable insights and helped me refine my approach.

Armed with new knowledge and a renewed budget, I ventured back into dropshipping, this time focusing on another single-product store. I found a product related to massage and created a dedicated website. Armed with Facebook ads, I launched another campaign, hoping for similar success. Although I made a sale within 24 hours, the profit margins quickly dwindled due to rising advertising costs. With only one sale and minimal profit, I decided to end the campaign and reassess my strategy.


My journey into dropshipping has been marked by both triumphs and setbacks. While I have spent over $500 on advertising without achieving substantial profit, I have learned valuable lessons along the way. Dropshipping is not a guaranteed path to instant riches. It requires careful research, adaptability, and adequate financial resources to invest in advertising. Despite the challenges, the potential for success is evident.
