hey guys in this video we're going to be,talking about should you become a,Shopify developer in 2023 is it a viable,career path for you right and who should,actually become a Shopify developer so,we're going to cover a lot of things in,here in this video all right so again,what is Shopify right so Shopify is a,Content management system right,um it's a platform where you can sell,products right you can have discounts,you can have uh secure uh user data,right you can basically have a secure,payment Gateway you also have access to,a whole bunch of different applications,so don't matter what type of business,you might have you might have something,like a I don't know a digital product or,maybe you're selling uh products online,maybe Drop Shipping right so again it,doesn't matter what type of business you,have you can use Shopify to sell your,products through uh their platform okay,now again,a lot of people use this every time that,you see like an advertisement on YouTube,Instagram Tick Tock you're gonna see uh,basically products are being promoted,through advertisement I could tell you,right now probably 95 99 of those stores,are built with Shopify okay so again,it's a platform that everybody uses now,again for you as a developer why should,you care about Shopify the fact that,there's so many people using uh Shopify,it basically allows you to say hey you,know what there's going to be a high,demand for this skill now becoming a,Shopify developer has two different,career paths that you could go on you,could say I'm gonna become a Shopify,theme developer or I can become a,Shopify app developer a Shopify app,developer is more on the back end right,basically being a full stack developer,to create applications within the,ecosystem of Shopify and a Shopify theme,developer is pretty much a front-end,developer that knows how to to create,websites create themes and connect them,through shopify's you know liquid,or using their apis right so pretty much,it's just if you ever use WordPress or,something like that it's like the,WordPress of e-commerce okay so again a,lot of people use Shopify so there's a,huge demand for it,now one thing that you're gonna see,right now,um as far as like the sales right you,could take a look at how this Black,Friday has been crazy uh for Shopify uh,I believe they had what like three,billion or something like that I can't,remember the exact number I'll tell you,right now I believe it's like 3.36,billion dollars in sales in Black Friday,just on Black Friday alone okay we're,not talking about the whole year right,so again this is huge a lot of people,have been switching to Shopify from all,other uh different type of platforms you,know you might have heard of maybe,Magento maybe big Commerce,um there's a whole bunch of other ones,that's out there even Wix Etc but again,when it comes to e-commerce Shopify is,the number one platform now,um I'm gonna talk to you guys about,becoming a Shopify theme developer and,like who should care about t

Globe again in today's video we're going,to speak about Shopify CLI 3.6 3.2,whatever you want to call it and before,we get started I just want you to know,that I have tried it I have give it a,shot and it's really awesome and you,will see we will get to all the features,in a second so bear with me and you will,also need to know that the old version,will no longer be supported until uh,like I think it's 31st May of next year,and usually some people still use 10K,because well some Futures teamkit has,some advantage over the old CLI version,especially for team development but now,with 3.x it's really you will see that I,think everyone will make great to 3.6,once once I show these Futures so yeah,I'm really really excited because you,will see all the features in this in a,second,but before we get started with the code,you will actually need to migrate to the,newest version,and to migrate they have if you click,Shopify CRI in the documentation they,have a really easy migration guide and,especially if you are on Mac since,Michael you have to do if you have,installed it with Homebrew all you have,to do is really click home brew upgrade,Shopify CLI if you have never installed,Shopify CLI in the first place all you,have to do is just Brew I think add,Shopify CLI and it will go to it will,install the latest version which is,um which is 3.22 for me so yeah,if you are on other uh machines like,Linux or revi or,excuse me or Windows you probably have,installed it with Gem and if you have to,if you had installed it with gem you,need to uninstall the old implementation,and install the new the new,implementation using uh using npm or,yarn or pnpm whatever you like since,it's now hosted on npm because it's a,typescript package it's a node package,and it's no longer a ruby package since,the newest version is actually,built using a typescript the old version,is using Ruby the newest version if you,if we check the GitHub you will see it's,Rewritten in typescript it's not fully,Rewritten in typescript it's actually a,wrapper especially for the teams part,it's a wrapper over the typescript,implementation over the old Rabbi,implementation sorry so yeah,uh now all you have to do is just click,here on global ads at Shopify and it,will add Shopify you will need to,install the core package which is,shopify.cr day and then install the,plugin yeah it's a plugin uh you will,see how the Shopify team commands all,are a plugin it's actually a plugin that,is added to the core CLI to support,Shopify team Commons so now if I,actually once you do that you will have,the latest version,and once you do that,um you can also still use the old,version of the Shopify CLI uh but you,will have to call it to change the pads,especially if you are if you have,installed it with Homebrew you will have,to change the naming using the pads like,like we do if you are if you're ever,used python for example we have python 2,and python for python 3. that's that's,reminds me of that,um the old implementat

hey everyone jan here codingwithyan.com,so today we have the first episode of,our sell your own theme series and all,of you have been asking tons of great,questions so please keep doing so this,project can only be as good as the,community is and you guys are amazing so,appreciate everyone watching and now,it's time for some answers so let's dive,right in,all right liam then thanks so much for,taking the time today as you know we're,here to answer some of the most burning,questions that people have,are you feeling good about it as well,i'm feeling great jan thanks for having,me here um,obviously a huge fan of the channel and,uh yeah any opportunity i can have to to,share the good word of the shopify theme,store um is is my absolute pleasure um,yeah then maybe as an entry point to our,conversation one of the most burning,topics or one of the most requested,topics was like what is the best way to,create a theme which kind of ties into,two subcategories the concept then the,actual development like workflows tools,and everything,so why don't we talk about the concept,first and,what is the thing or what can we give,people on the way in order to come up,with an amazing concept should we talk,about that,yeah i think that's a great place to,start,so i think the the first thing to really,think about is to really dive into how,merchants and how buyers will interact,with a theme,and and also consider how it's different,to design for a marketplace versus,designing for an individual client,so with an individual client you're very,commonly going to be requesting or being,asked for specific settings whereas in,theme store,these settings are,a little bit more generic um they're not,requested specifically by any merchants,um so merchants may be encountering uh,these features and functionality for the,first time um so i'd really you know,before even writing a line of code um,you know think about the the buyer,journey think about the merchant journey,and how,you know all of these people will,interact with the theme with the online,store editor,and you know think about know you're not,really designing just a storefront,for a buyer to,pick a product and take it to the cart,and check out you're also,essentially designing a ui that,merchants will be using to,bring their store to life,and and ideally with the the minimal,amount of friction possible,okay yeah i think that's a very good,point because as you know many merchants,don't have a strong technical background,then the settings have to be very,straightforward i mean this all ties to,usability i think that's what we are,trying to trying to get across here,um yeah so would you have any tips or,maybe how could someone approach that,would you recommend maybe using tools,like or like design tools to come up,with the visual concept first or would,you just be diving head first and,writing lines of code how would you,approach that yeah so i think there's a,few different methods um but i would,definitely advise,um investing

what's up everybody mark with EECOM,warriors welcome to a new YouTube video,today we're going to be discussing how,just because a theme cost more money,doesn't necessarily mean that it's,better okay before I begin I just want,to tell everybody hey you know you're,watching this video there's no reason,why you should not subscribe I'm gonna,be trying to post a video a day if not,multiple videos a day you know without,trying to miss a day hopefully and I'm,gonna try my best doing that now with,that being said guys let's go ahead and,get into today's video where we're gonna,essentially be talking about and I want,to just show people and open their eyes,to not every single theme is created,equal and don't base a theme based on,its price and this is the mistake that I,did as a Shopify beginner where I,actually based my opinions of a,particular theme based on the particular,price it had I thought that just because,the theme was priced more that it was,essentially be better now may some of,you may or may not know this a period of,time in my life when I was growing,businesses at a very very high rate and,we're just going very gung-ho which was,a majority of 2019 in the beginning of,2020 what would we do and I have,actually if you watched my other YouTube,channel I've actually would document,this and talk about this where we would,create 10 to 15 businesses passive,income businesses per month and the,reason why I would do this is because,not only would we test but we would see,you know what's viable options and I've,tried almost everything in the book,right and really what came out of this,is a whole lot of lessons learned but,more importantly you know an almost like,a almost like a clear lens to look,through now because when you start in,business you have these almost um these,ideas or these biases that you start off,with such as you know for example if a,shop fight theme cost more then it's,better which is not true which is simply,just not the case but you know with that,being said there's a whole bunch of,these biases that come across and you,only learn how to separate yourself from,them with experience and that's what I'm,here to share today so here I have three,examples of themes this is,the turbo theme 350 dollar theme this is,the EECOM turbo theme which is produced,by one of the biggest youtubers in,Shopify called Franklin Hatchett here's,the guy you guys may or may not know him,if you search Shopify you'll find the,guy and then there's a willful Shopify,theme so or willful Shopify excuse me,they have two different themes currently,that I know of they may have more they,may have less I have no idea they have,this theme which is like the 55 themes,in 1 or 50 themes and one however they,want to go ahead and describe it and,then they have this theme the the wolf,shall fight theme I'm gonna be talking,about their main theme this is the theme,that I was going with for two three,years now so I'll talk about it so you,have a theme here that's a hundred,dol

hey everybody sam webb here and i'm back,with part two of my shopify theme build,series,today we're going to build a simple hero,component for the home page,we're going to build it in a way that,will allow us to reuse a majority of the,code in the future,if we need to a bit of a disclaimer,i'm going to use background images for,this feature simply because it's easier,to work with,other options would be multiple image,elements for mobile and desktop,one image element using source set,property,or the picture element with multiple,source elements,all these are viable strategies and,depending on your needs you can go with,any of these,but today we're going to use background,so let's get started,before we start building anything,there's a few housekeeping things we,need to take care of,so the first thing is we need to add git,and we can do that easily by adding get,in it,and so the next thing we're going to do,is we're going to say get add,and i just put dot for all that's going,to add everything,and i'm going to put gst it's going to,show me everything that's staged for,commit,git commit dash m for message because,you have to give your commit messages,or your commits need a message,and i'll just call this initial commit,clear that and now we're ready to start,building,so the first thing i want to do,something i haven't added to this,workflow but we'll be coming in a future,update,if you go on a source and you go into,liquid,and templates and index,usually you would want this tag to be in,here,right content for index which is what,allows you to use dynamic sections on,the home page,and this is just something that i forgot,to put in when i was initially building,this workflow so,if you're using this in the future it,might it should have this,but i would just check this file just in,case you've grabbed it before,the update was made so next we can close,that out,we're not gonna need this file anymore,and,shrink down templates just so you don't,have to see all those files,and we're gonna be using we're gonna be,creating three files,so we're gonna have a section a snippet,and we're gonna have some css to go,along with that,so let me create those files now in,sections i'm gonna make a new file,hero liquid in snippets we're going to,do the same thing a new file hero,dot liquid,and then in styles in components,we're going to add a file underscore,hero.scss then within theme.scss,we're going to replace this this example,with hero,save that,and we can keep open here but we don't,need theme anymore,and so these are the three files we're,going to be working in,so to start us off i'm going to go into,hero.liquid,and i'm going to say render,hero and what this is going to do it's,going to pull in,this hero snippet into this file,and then what i'm going to do to start,off is i'm going to build everything,in hero and then i'm going to move it,over,or i'm going to build everything in the,snippet and i'm going to move it over to,the hero,and make it editable so let's st

hey welcome back to another video in,this video we are going to set up our,development and environment using,shopify team kit,and there is mainly two way of,developing a shopify team either you are,using shopify cli or shopify team kit in,this video we will focus on team kit and,in the next video we will focus on,shopify cli,cli is recommended by shopify but it is,not really yet it has a lot of back and,a lot of developer complain about this,one and,for the people who start developing,shopify team,cli is a bit confusing i will focus on,that i will like show you how it works,and a lot of like the settings but for,now to start it i'm going to use with,team kit because it is really easy to do,now what is team kit it is a development,tool,created by shopify,long time ago and a lot of people were,using it now they are trying to replace,it with cli as i said cli has a lot of,issues we don't use it now team kit is a,tool that you install in your computer,what it does is it's just create a,pipeline between your text data and the,shopify store you have imagine this is,our store and we bring all the changes,in here we have to come to the code,editor in here,and bring the changes that is not a,viable way of doing it you have to bring,the changes in your code editor locally,to do that you need team kit team kit,comes here and tempkid is talking to,your store when you are bringing all the,changes in your local machine,so what you get what you need to do is,you have to go to getting started,from here,it has different,installation kit,in this like in this video you know that,i'm using mac os but if you are using,windows it is really easy to install,coco and using coco you can install team,kit but for mac os i use homebrew if you,are already using mac so homebrew is,already installed probably you if you,don't have it you can go to homebrew it,is free you can install it and using,homebrew you can install teamkit once,you have it if you come to your,cli or any tool that you use and you,just type team,you will have access to all available,comments you have configured deploy,download and all of this we will explore,all the coming for now,all you have to know is like,um,that is all you need to know just make,sure you have installed this one,and the next step is to create um,an api for your restore if if team kid,want to talk to your store you have to,create an api key for that,so you create the api by navigating to,the app directory and here,after here you click in this manage,private app since this is a fresh store,we'll come here we don't have any,prior to this page you will have another,page where you say you should enable it,if this is the first time you should,enable it and you just accept some,determined condition and then you enable,it for us we are going to create it,because i enable it behind the scene,and in here i don't know why it is,running slow,as i said team kit will just create a,pipeline between your,code editor your local machine and your,theme whic
