Power Tools Filter Menu

hi this is Brad from power tools and I'm,here to show you the filter menu app so,this is what the app looks like when you, first install it and what we're trying,to do is create a menu for the users so,they can filter down through your, collections so let's start off by,creating a new group of filters in this, case let's use size and size is a very, common thing people want to filter by,and let's add a new item to that group,we'll just call it medium we can also, choose an existing collection if one, exists so we'll go ahead and do that and, that's the basic process of adding, filters bio tag,we can also add filters based on vendor,or type so for example we could go,create a new vendor group and create a,new type group will automatically add,new vendors and types and we'll keep the, vendor group sorted a-to-z so we'll go,ahead and run that job and as you can,see we've got the group's already there, and in the background it will go through, and look at all your products and find, the appropriate vendors and types we can, check this at any stage by going to the, jobs and we can see that this has, already run and is complete and voila, another common thing people want to,search by is price so we'll create a new, price group will add some price ranges,in and we'll run that job, same as before we have our price and our, filters now as we showed in the first, example we have size we can actually, make use of the existing data that's in,your variants so for example if we had, size or color information as variant, options we can add that as a new group, since we already have size I'll choose, color and we run that job it will set up,a rule in the variant tagger and it will,go through and add each one of in this, case the colors that are found in your, products so we'll see how that's going, and we can see it's found a bunch of,colors in this case we don't want the, default color so we'll just press the, little hide icon and it's hidden now we,may want to change the order so let's,pour product types probably more, important than vendor and we may want to,rename vendor to brand like so we've,decided that we don't want our size, field for after all so we'll get rid of,that so one thing we may want to set up,is so that the colors only show once, you've selected another filter so in,this case let's make it product type, filter so we'll choose those options and,we press save ok so now it's looking, like we've got a pretty good menu setup,so we press save and update okay so this,is it one our filter menu is looking, like and you can see we have three, options to type brand and price and, color is currently hidden until we,select a product type so let's go ahead, and do that so we select a wallet and,now we have options for color, the Dutch menu can definitely help with, improving your product navigation as,well as increasing your conversions so,that's a quick run-through of the filter, menu app we do have installers for many, popular things as well as an,installation service for any custom, bespoke or ra

Setting Up Group Filtering in Our Shopify Themes

Setting Up Group Filtering in Our Shopify Themes

hi there this is Tim from mile-high,INSCOM I'm the creator of the Showtime, theme and one of the greatest features,of the theme is the built-in group, filtering which allows your customers to,quickly and easily find the products, they are looking for within your, collections by using filters to narrow, them down you can see this in action in,the furnish time demo and so we'll take,a look at that we've got sidebar here to,filter our products and I've set up,filters for brand material style and, price you can have as many filters as,you want in here and it's all set up by,tagging your products a certain way so,we'll kind of see how this works you can, click these checkboxes to narrow down, the products so I've narrowed it down by,brand and now I will narrow it by,material and so we've narrowed down a,huge list of products really quickly to,anything by the brand as Folio with the, material weather and we see the products,we have here so that's a little rundown,of how the filtering works and one of,the questions I get most of the time in,support email is how do I set this up so,that's the purpose of this video is to,show you how to set up your filters so,I'm gonna go ahead and set up some new, filters on the cook time demo as you can,see here's the cook time demo there's no,filtering setup I just have a couple of,widgets here on the left side of my,collection page but no filtering so the, first thing we need to do in order to,set up filtering is to plan out what, filters we want to use for our products,so again you can have any filters you, want you can have as many as you want, and in this case I've created a little, document here and I've decided that I,want to filter my products by price, style and vendor and I've created all,the tags that I need in order to do that, now the naming convention for these tags,is very strict it's all case sensitive, you have to put the name of the filter, category to the left, followed by an underscore and then the, filter itself so the category is price, the number case P underscore and then,I've got these different price levels, and same for style and vendor so once, you have that planned out you need to,tag your products accordingly and there, are three different ways to tag your, products within my product search area,in my Shopify dashboard and I am going,to edit a product easiest way to add, these tags is to simply add them product,by product in the tags area you simply, start typing in the name and if you've,used these before they'll start to,populate in this list otherwise you can, type it in and separate each one with a,comma or you can type it in press ENTER,to save it and then type the next one in,as you can see this product already has,the three filter tags that I need I've,got vendor Bertini style new age and, price zero to $25 so that's one way to,add the tags to your products is by,doing it one at a time but as you can, imagine if you have a lot of products, this can become quite tedious to go in,product one at a time to edit them so

Power Tools Suite

Power Tools Suite

hi this is Brad from Shopify power tools, and I want to introduce you to the power, tools suite so this is what the power to,a suite looks like when you first log in,and as you can see on the side you know,we have all the apps for collections and,all the apps for products the power tool, suite incorporates all the apps that, power tools links now before I dive into, these options I want to show you what it,looks like on a real live store so this,is a standard Shopify store that has, then been enhanced by the power tools, suite and the first thing to notice is,the filter menu on the side using this,we can drill down into the products so,for example shoulder bags and then if we,want to choose a color say red we can,see the red shoulder bags as such we can, also filter by price brand material and,so on it's it's up to you how you want,to define the filters and likewise we,can selectively clear them so if we just, want to go back to red and we can see,all the red products another thing to,notice is the sort order selector so,this enables us to change the sort order,of the collection that we're viewing so,for example price high to low latest, arrivals or any sort order that Shopify, has by default and these are selectable,in the admin system in addition to that, there's an another power tools app, that's working and that is the sort by,popularity so what this does it shows, the most popular items first this is,very handy for showing you exactly what, your customers want to see first now in,addition to that we also have, the mega menu at the top here now these, products are actually chosen randomly, from a pool of products and the way that, works is using the power tools random, sort order which updates every few hours,so as we can see here we've got a random, selection of items okay so in addition,to that there's number of other power, tools features working behind the scenes,so why don't we dive back into power, tools and we'll start going through them, okay so let's start with the filter menu,so filter menu looks like this and as,you can see these are the options that,we had before so brand price color and,so forth now if you want to add a new, your items it's it's very easy you can, just click to add either based on a,collection or a tag or if you'd like you,can even reorder them simple as that, the next option is the ability to hide, sold out products so what this can do is,once you have no more inventory of a,product you can hide it and also create,a redirect this is good for your SEO and, good for your users and this doesn't,happen have to happen immediately you,can wait any number of days before the, products are hidden so in this case it's,waiting one day you can also move your, products last or exclude them from your, manual collections in addition to that, there's also a feature called sold out, variants so what you can do is delete, your sort out variants which is very, handy if you're look selling things, based on size the next item is the, pricing policy so the pricing policy

Filter Menu - Add Variant Option Filters

Filter Menu - Add Variant Option Filters

hi this is Brad from power tools in this, video we're going to go through setting,up varying options for the filter menu,so personally let's log into the filter, menu app and then we'll go to filter, menu and then to variant option filters,so in this particular store we have five, options so we just type inside and we,also have color options,or just minimize this so we can see and,as you can see that size options have, already been created and the color, option two distinct down at moon note, your storm may take a bit longer to run,I've already done this a couple of times,on this still so everything is already, prepped up we can check the status by,going to the pending jobs and we can see, that this has already run if we reload, will now see we've got all the colors as,well so if we press save and update and,we go to our live store you can see we,have the filters for type size and color,as we drill into an option for example,it'll only give us the sizes for, snowboards and it doesn't give us any, colors because the snowboards only come,in a single color but if we were to say,go to jackets we have the jacket sizes, and then all the colors now one thing, you'll notice is that we have some, overlap here and we have to have quite a,lot of overlap with the colors so I'll,just show you how we can merge filters,so for example we had small medium and, large, okay so let's say we want to make a,whole number of other filters into the, small filter so we scroll down and let's,say everything from a size 9 to over and,11 is a salt so then we can add those, aliases likewise we can do the same for, medium so,everything from sight 12 and 13 and so,on we can repeat that process so if we,press save and update now we'll notice, that some of these will go away but if,we were to select medium some of these, products would actually use that other, format of sizing, that's if we can find, there we go so even though we're on the, medium filter we have things that are in,the numerical sizes that's how we merge, filters and it's emphasized in color as,you can see we have a lot of colors so,we may for example want to merge a whole, number of the black tight colors,a lot of blacks so all the blacks we can, select and they will all get merged into, that primary black filter there we go,have been action filters and what we'll,notice is that all of these have been, merged into that single filter and you,can repeat that process called the other, filters as well so if we go back out and, notice here we had all of my setting, lighting one additional color and that,is,intercept,so our second update, this will just take a little while to,run so if we reload the page now we'll,see we've lost the anthracite filter, because it's hidden and the black filter, will come up now freeze select that and, notice that the color even though we,selected the black filter the anthracite, color has come up so that concludes the, process of adding variant option filters, into the filter menu thanks for watching
