hey guys i'm greta and in this video i'm,going to be going over everything that,you want to know about shopify themes,we're going to go through some tips and,we're going to go through some of the,best themes that you can be using this,year,so these are three things that i always,consider when i'm picking a shopify,theme so the first one is your product,range is it a,multi-product store or is it more a,single hero product store just because,it's going to affect the layout uh and,the overall conversion rate of the store,depending on which you end up going with,the second thing that i consider is the,niche of my store so from a design,perspective the same store won't always,suit electronics as it would suit,fashion for example so you want to have,a look again at the layout and make sure,that that layout is applicable to your,niche and the third thing and probably,the most important is prioritizing,conversion rate and so what i mean here,is like functionality over just design,so you want a theme that is fast,responsive fairly simple,and has an easy to navigate i guess like,interface so here are three shopify,themes that i would be using this year,and number one is debut and you cannot,look past this theme even though it is,kind of the most stock standard shopify,theme that is kind of where the beauty,of this theme lies as well because so,many stores use this same theme it,outperforms almost any other theme we,always try to introduce new themes or,custom coded themes uh,and we find that from a conversion rate,perspective they just do not compare to,debut so i really would not look any,further than this theme,until you're kind of at a point where,you can do enough a b testing and,conversion rate optimization to know,that your kind of like more design,orientated theme for example is,outperforming this theme so just to,really quickly show you guys through it,let's just hit view demo store while,it's really simple and straightforward,it's really really effective customers,are very used to using this theme as a,whole in fact one of our brands claytime,that's done over a million dollars in,revenue in its first few months of sales,uses this theme and while it's a really,simplistic sort of website as a whole it,converts so well,so as you can see,pretty straightforward,very straightforward very simple theme,but effective impressive,most impressive now we're gonna move on,to our dawn theme this is a theme by,shopify again so shopify,uh has designed this theme in the same,way it's designed debut says that it's,great for clothing and accessories,health and beauty home and gardens so,kind of like multi-sku stores so while,debut might have been better for kind of,a single sku store dawn is really really,great if you've got kind of like a,really broad product range so,let's view the demo store it's a really,clean sleek design definitely looks a,lot higher end as well so if maybe you,had kind of a higher perceived value,sort of product uh like especially yeah,of cour

Shopify Theme Development EP03 - How it works

hello and welcome to this third video in,this series on Shopify theme development,in the first video we covered what a,theme is and where it sits in the,context of the Shopify environment in,the second video we learned what data is,contained in your theme and what data,remains the same while changing themes,in this video we'll be getting into the,nitty gritty discussing the actual,process of updating and developing,Shopify themes so let's get into it,so you have an online store already but,you want to change the way it looks and,operates or maybe you're building your,first online store either way the,process is quite similar because for,most people building a Shopify theme,from scratch is usually a poor idea let,me show you what I mean,so I've jumped inside another,development store of mine,this one's called Chris testing shop and,this is where I do a bunch of different,theme experiments one of them is,creating a new theme using theme kit so,new theme is a command in theme kit and,it basically gives you a blank starting,theme so let's have a look at what that,would look like,alright so pretty basic there's nothing,on the homepage apart from this menu up,here if I click on catalog it'll take me,to the all collection which shows me all,of my products I have some demo products,in this fake store let's say I want to,buy this tuxedo this is all fully,functioning might look terrible,but it actually works so I can click Add,to Cart there's a card here if I click,checkout I I can't actually go to,checkout because I'm on a development,store um but you get the point you can,actually go through pretty much,everything you could do here's some blog,posts I stole from Shopify website just,to fill out my store with blog posts so,you could start from this point but as,you can see it's so bare there's not,even a footer your header is literally,just a bunch of links there are no,styles basically I don't think there's,any CSS in this theme,so ever so maybe it's gonna be the case,where you're just doing something so,custom that you need to you know start,from a starting point like this but most,of the time and even in my experience,developing themes for clients I've never,really started from this starting point,or anything similar,we always start from an existing theme,and to contrast that with what you just,saw,this is debut which is a free theme that,comes with the current version of,Shopify if I view that this is already a,much nicer starting point you know I can,use my own icons here I can update the,fonts and everything but at least I've,got you know a framework you know at,least I've got some things already in,there and that's why I recommend,everyone start with an existing theme,unless you've got very specific needs it,just makes sense to you know use this as,a starting point and go from there,so that should make it pretty clear most,of the time you should use an existing,theme as a starting point whether that,be a theme you've already worked on or,something

Arabic Shopify Store + RTL | Fonts, notifications and more! | RTL Master

hey everyone i am itai from rtl master,and today i'll show you how to adjust,your shopify store to arabic using our,app,so let's have a look at the demo store,we created here um this is a online shoe,store and as you can see it doesn't,really fit um to the arabic language the,texts are not,rtl you can see that the exclamation,mark is not in place,the images are from left to right and,not from right to left and there are,many other issues,so let's see how we are using our app to,solve those issues,so let's just go one by one we'll start,with the rtl,we will go,and pick our theme,we are using the done theme at the,moment,and,enable the app,now we will just need to go into the sim,editor,and make sure our app,works on the specific sim we want to rtl,so we can find it under the up embeds,and we toggle the rtl master and as you,can see already all of your theme is,from right to left,so if we're looking at the menu at the,images um,at the at the arrow right here,there's still small adjustments uh we,need to do and that depends on the theme,that doesn't require any coding um for,example in the dawn theme we will need,to,make sure the cards are aligned to the,right,and you will see now how the products,are moving,all right so let's move on what's what,we're missing now,is the translations,so for example you can see that it's,still written in english search,or,the email right here,so we will go back to the up and move to,the translation tab,so we will choose the arabic language,and we will choose the dom theme,and enable,now one thing we need to remember we,need to change the store a default,language so the arabic will show,so every shopify store is by default in,english,so we just click on the button,to change the default from english,to arabic,and save,that can take a few seconds,but once we will,refresh the page,you will see that all the theme terms,have changed to arabic,so we took care of,basically everything we need,um,rtl translations let's see what else the,app can help us do,so if we'll go back to the app we can,see there's still a few more features,let's go through,we can translate the notifications,again we just need to,choose the right language and as you can,see you have for every email,notification of shopify,it's all right here you just need to,copy the new title and the new body,paste it in your shopify notification,settings and uh you will have all the,shopify notifications in arabic in rtl,another feature we have is the fonts,you can,choose again arabic choose between any,font you want,save and enable,and,once you refresh the page you will see,that we,have the arabic font which you probably,know shopify doesn't offer by default,um,two more things we have in the app is uh,a bit more advanced we are not going to,go through it now but it's multilingual,functionality that helps you,to,work with stores that have more than one,language for example,arabic and english so we can make sure,that the english will present in ltr and,the arabic in rtl

Shopify CLI for Theme Development (How to use)

hey everyone in this video we're going,to talk about shopify cli for themes,shopify cli stands for shopify command,line interface and is the latest,alternative to shopify theme kit,previously shopify cli was a tool that,helped users create and deploy shopify,apps but since the online store 2.0,announcements in june 2021 shopify have,extended the shopify cli to provide new,functions for theme development,including the ability to serve themes,locally,so in this video let's talk about how,the shopify cli works and how to include,it into your theme development workflow,before we get started talking about how,to use the shopify cli for theme,development i want to provide some,context here and talk about where this,tool fits in compared to the other,previous tools for developing shopify,themes,when i first started shopify theme,development back in 2019 there were two,tools available slate and theme kit,i believe it was theme kit that came,first but at shopify unite 2017 shopify,announced something called slate a new,build tool for shopify themes intended,to provide a more developer friendly,scaffold for building themes,slate did have some good points such as,the ability to split up scss into,multiple modular files and update css,changes locally but over time shopify,decided not to maintain the project and,eventually announced that they were,officially ending support for slate in,january 2020. therefore slate is not a,tool i recommend to anyone anymore in my,opinion the only reason to use slate is,if you have to i.e you have an existing,slate project that you're unable to or,unwilling to migrate that left us with,themekit a simple tool for uploading and,downloading theme files from your,shopify store making it possible to work,on themes locally,and now the latest option which is to,use the shopify cli for theme,development,chances are if you're watching this,video close to the release date you,might be using shopify themekit as,mentioned shopify themekit is a simple,tool for uploading and downloading theme,code from themes already hosted on your,shopify store we can do a one-time,download from themekit or a one-time,upload from themekit or we can run the,command theme watch and allow themekit,to detect and upload changes to the,theme as it exists on the shopify store,as soon as they happen for a full,tutorial on shopify themekit check out,the lesson in my skillshare class,shopify theme development how to build,and customize your own online store the,shopify cli by comparison is a bit,different with shopify cli you first,connect the tool to your online store by,running shopify login and from that,point you can begin to serve the theme,code you have on your computer locally,running shopify theme serve the cli will,take your theme code and generate a,development theme this development theme,will come with a theme id and a theme,editor but it won't exist in your,shopify store's theme library and it,will disappear after you run shopify,logout,running these s

How to install a #TemplateMonster Template in #Shopify
