Setting up "Split Shopify Theme" from Krown Themes

hello this is reuben from crown teams in,this video tutorial i want to show you,the setup of our,split,or shopify theme version 3.,this is a really big update that we've,made in december 2021 in which we've,added support for online store version 2,and also refreshed the design making the,theme more modern and clean while,improving all the sections making it,more performant and accessible,we will start everything a blank theme,this is how the theme looks like when,you first install it,let's go through the theme settings,first,you can choose different uh,color up color settings,you can change the design of the,header and the sidebar,you can,the body text second you have options,for typography,where you can change or edit the,font sizes and the font families of,the theme the line heights,and also modify the border radius of the,buttons,then you have a few options for the,product grid,for,this we will go in the collections page,so you can see this live so uh,there are two types of caption displays,for desktop one is the visible one the,other one is the overlay,and when you choose the overlay you can,choose different overlay caption,background colors here and,different text,this is how it works and you can also,choose to show the second product media,on,mouse over,the product rating can be displayed if,you have an app for,ratings such as the free shopify reviews,app,you can choose to display the ratings on,hover or make them always visible,or,show them or hide them on mobile this is,the place where you can also,enable or disable the quick buy,this is the quick buy,and,also choose how should the,variant selector look in the in the,pop-up because you can either select,with blocks,or drop down,whoops,here it is we did change with drop down,okay lastly you can choose the product,media aspect because the,thumbnails will have a fixed aspect,ratio so you can choose whether the,product image is cropped or natural,in this case it will be contained,in the,area,you can also make some changes to the,cart page making it a drawer or a,page,show additional checkout buttons show,the quantity selector and here you can,also choose to whether to you want to,show higher card recommendations,in the drawer or not,it refers to this area in the sidebar,you also have embellishments which is,media preloader which will show a little,preloader on images download,and the breadcrumb option,the settings for search your social,media links and check out so this is it,with the,theme settings then let's move up to the,sections,we have a few fixed sections the first,one is the header section,here you can choose a logo,maximum,height for it,choose the menu the one which will be,the main menu here,you can also change the style into a,classic or drawer this is the drawer,and then you'll have another menu which,is the collections menu,this can be transformed into a mega menu,if you would like so in the drawer,design,it has a,bigger text and in the classic design,this turns into a mega menu,

Shopify Themes - Free, Paid or Custom? (The Honest Truth)

so far on this channel we've continued,to go deeper and deeper into shopify,theme development but today i want to,zoom out and talk more broadly about the,need for theme development to begin with,if you're new here i'm chris and i,currently specialize as a front-end web,developer for the shopify platform i.e i,do shopify theme development but if,you've clicked on this video i'm going,to take a guess and say that you don't,actually need my services let me explain,so given that i've built a bit of a,reputation for this kind of work i get a,range of people reach out to me some of,which are just starting out in,e-commerce and to virtually all of these,people i tell them to start with a,pre-built theme and focus on customizing,their theme later,why because as a new store owner your,primary goal should be on sales and,marketing not on getting your theme,perfectly customized i'll be honest a,custom site for me is typically going to,come with a five figure price tag and if,you don't have a ton of traffic on the,site yet that budget is probably better,spent on generating traffic instead,pre-built themes whether free or paid,will do the trick for the majority of,sellers and with premium themes starting,at a price tag of just around 220 usd,it's an easy investment to justify that,is until you reach a certain level,that level is typically when you start,to turn over more than a million dollars,in revenue at this point you have a real,business and with around 40 profit,margin you're making around 400k which,you can start to split up between,marketing and website improvements,people often ask me do i build websites,to which i answer no i customize,existing ones regardless of whether,you're just starting out or a few years,into your business,very rarely is it the case that i as a,developer need to create a brand new,theme for a client,most e-commerce sites have similar,features almost every product page has a,set of product images a product title,description price product form,and the add to cart button so there's no,need to reinvent the wheel but with a,bit of theme development we can add,extra features to the product page make,unlimited changes to the styling of this,page and this is where theme development,comes in,while the theme might come with some,customization options the only way to,achieve full control is enlisting the,help of someone who understands,front-end web development on the shopify,platform so with this in mind let me,directly answer the question in the,title of this video,the first decision you need to make is,free or paid theme as i mentioned,earlier this is going to be a question,you need to answer no matter whether you,plan to create a custom site or not as,it's almost always more cost efficient,to start with a pre-built theme and this,decision i would recommend you make,based purely on your budget if you can,afford the two to three hundred dollars,required to buy a premium theme then i,definitely recommend you do it,at the time of record

Split Collection/Product Description Into Multiple Sections on Shopify Using Liquid

hey guys because a few people have asked,I decided to film a quick little,tutorial on how to split your,description into two parts top piece of,content for perhaps an overview and a,bottom piece of content then you may,want to put underneath your individual,product listings you see this on sites,like top Tower which essentially have,you know their headline overview,listings and then a large long-form,article this helps them with search,whether or not this will help you for,search is another thing but for this,we're just going to talk about,tactically how to get this done on,Shopify so setup wise the first thing,that we do in our collection is we,create two pieces of content within the,description the first is the top piece,of content and then the bottom content,and then we create a separator this can,be whatever you want you know you can,you can actually literally type in what,is it,separator if you want but we're not,going to do that we're just gonna do,three dashes because that's super easy,to implement we're then gonna hit save,check our collection and notice that,that works all nicely now that we know,that this works all nicely we want to,edit the theme to actually split this,into two parts we're gonna go to your,theme metadox that's online store themes,and then find the file where your,collection is being essentially built,out for me in this kind of like demo,theme this is under collection -,template liquid others that might be in,collection liquid it just really depends,how your developer or whatever theme,you've purchased has set things up but,really what I'm looking for is I'm,looking for somewhere that's called,collection description right once I once,I have that I'm more or less kind of,good to go and start editing away so,right now let's actually I think it's,there's a few mentions here so a,collection dot description here we go,yeah there's a few of these here from,memory this one's the ones I gotta edit,so you may actually have to edit what,I'm about to show you in a couple of,places but yes I'll leave that to you,guys to work out because everything is,different and fairly unique so uh okay,cool,I've got the collection here um I don't,want to just print it so right now with,this liquid tag it's just going to print,the text I don't want to do that instead,I want to,well a bit of a thing I want to assign a,new variable so I'm gonna do a sign and,I'm gonna call this SEO content and then,I'm going to say that this equals,collection description and then I'm,going to split this out and I'm gonna,say this split is gonna be three dashes,okay done so now I have a brand new,variable if I actually just print that,variable so SEO content and hit save and,go back to the website you can see it's,now printed both parts with without the,little separator in there that's a,really good sign it means we're more or,less caught up to work if I just want to,print the first one because this is,essentially an array so a couple of,objects in here I'm if I jus

Shopify Tutorial: Hiding a Long Description in Collapsible Accordion (on free themes)

hello guys today i'm doing a requested,video but i hope that this is going to,be helpful to a lot of people this is,for anyone that has a really long,product description right and it's,pushing the rest of the page down and,people need to you know really scroll,to kind of see more information about,the product it's even worse if your,description is up above your buttons,and then people don't actually see your,add to cart buttons and your quantity,field and stuff like that right so,you may want to somehow,contain this entire description,inside something like a collapsible row,an accordion a toggle drop down whatever,you want to call this kind of interface,you click it and it opens up your,description but when it's closed it,doesn't take up space,i'll also show you,a couple of different options for,example if you want a little bit of,preview text so if you want like a short,description here right,and then you want a read more,with the rest of your description,um then i'll show you how to do that as,well and i actually think that this is a,much nicer solution than simply this in,case you're wondering no i'm not talking,about just using the collapsible row,blocks because,this is very limited obviously you can't,put like this wasn't intended for a lot,of text and in this all you can do is,like bold and italic i am actually,talking about the main product,description,about this field and wrapping the output,in a collapsible row like this or,actually splitting it so as you can see,this first sentence from here,is the first sentence here,and then the rest of it starts from,lowdom altera,and this is a london altera here so,actually splitting it here in between,these paragraphs so that it outputs in,two different places,showing you how to do all of that oh and,i almost forgot to mention but you are,going to be able to set this classical,description,as uh enabled or disabled on a per,product basis so if some products have,short descriptions and you don't want,the collapsible accordion at all,then this will be false by default,actually,and to turn it on you will have to click,true right and this is using meta fields,so if you're interested,in one of the features of shopify 2.0,which is meta fields and this will also,be a small introduction to using emitter,field,in a real life scenario i'm going to be,using,dawn right you'll be able to follow this,tutorial exactly if you're using dawn or,if you're using any of the free,shopify 2.0,themes right like dawn craft,crave sense all of these they have the,same code they have the same settings,if you're using a different theme from a,different company not from shopify then,i think you're still going to be able to,use this tutorial and kind of apply the,same concepts to another theme it might,be a bit more difficult but,many of these collapsible rows are built,in similar ways and what we're actually,going to be doing in this tutorial is,copying the code,that does these collapsible row blocks,and simply wrapping it aroun

Show product variants as separate products on collection page

hello this is collins and on this video,i'll be showing you how you can,show your product variants as separate,products on the collections page so as,you can see on the collections page here,i have this product it has like a lot of,variant support only the single product,is showing so i want to be able to,display all of the available variants so,if i click through to the product page,you can see the other,variants green,orange blue,so on the on the collection spread i,want you to display all of this as,individual products if you go to this,website milodox website you can see they,use this very well to display all of,their variants on the collections page,so these are the same products but they,are all,different variants so they are able to,display it on the collection speech as a,product so do this is very easy and,quick so from your shopify,admin you know it's always recommended,to duplicate your theme and have a,duplicate of the main themes i've,already duplicated this down same here,so i'm going to install it on this,duplicate theme to test it out first,before i then add it to the main theme,so i need to go to the apps then go to,recommended apps like,app store,so when you get to the app store you,need to just search for collections,filter,there are a lot of apps that can do this,for you but this is the one i've used,and does it the job very well so that's,why i'm using it on this video there are,a lot of other tools that you can use,that's even a lesser price,they all do the same thing,we use these two it has a lot of other,features too it has a smart search smart,merchandising and filtering as well as,well as strain your variants as products,so there's a lot of other tools you can,use right i'm just using this for this,video we just need to add this app to,the store and also leave a comment for,me on this comment section down below if,you want me to make a video on how to do,this with code without an app,all right thank you so much,so i'm going to install the app,so this is the process of installing the,app on your store it's going to first of,all index all of the products in your,store as you can see it is trying to,index all of the products in your store,so you just follow this process it's,quite straightforward so you just need,to just click through it might take a,little longer to index your store this,will depend on the amount of products,you have if you have like a very large,inventory might take longer to index the,whole product,as you can see it is done yes i'm going,to click through,some processes i just need to explain,what they do so the first setup is just,to select the theme that you want to,install this one so if your stock is,currently live like you have a live,store like you have traffic on i won't,recommend adding this to the main theme,so you should select a duplicate theme,so this is a demo store i can choose,this dawn theme but if your your store,is live you need to go back to your,themes,and,online store,go to your theme

How to show variants as separate products on the collection page on Shopify
