ShowTime 7.0 - Using the "Buy With" Upsell Features

hi everyone this is tim from,milehighthemes.com,and in this video i'm just going to show,you how to use the new buy it with,upsell features that we've added as part,of showtime version 7.0,so we have this product open in one of,our demo stores,and you can see there's this area that,shows up down here above the cart button,frequently bought together where the,customer can,select these check boxes and add these,additional products to the cart at the,same time as the,original product,so we think this is a pretty cool,feature i don't believe any other theme,offers this right now you can always use,an app to do this but that's going to be,an extra expense so we think this is a,nice value added feature and,i'm just going to show you how to set it,up now,so first of all let's just try it out,see how it works we can just click these,check boxes,and this number you see appears above,the cart button to let you know how many,products you're adding,so we are adding the the original,product plus these other two i'm going,to click add to cart,and you can see that all three of these,products have been added to the cart,and there they are in the cart itself,so pretty cool feature let's see how we,set that up,so over here in one of my demo stores,dev stores,we have a fresh version of the theme,installed i'm going to go to my products,and i'm just going to select a product,that i want to add some upsell products,to,so i'll select this blue bowl with,handle,and these upsell products are created,using meta fields and metafields are,just custom fields that shopify supports,where you can store,data,so the first thing that we have to do is,actually create the meta fields for this,particular function,so meta fields are located in settings,and then we're going to go to meta,fields,and we're going to go to products,so we have no meta fields created right,now i'm going to click add definition,so i'm just going to give this the name,buy with,product,and the name doesn't really matter but,this namespace and key does,so i'm going to change this custom,that's added automatically and put by,underscore,with,now this is important you have to use,this particular,prefix,in order for this function to work,you can put a description in here if you,want it's not required this is only for,your,your own benefit,so i'm just going to leave that blank,for now and then i'm going to select,content type,and i'm going to choose,product,save,so now we've created a buy with product,meta field,this functionality also supports the,ability to choose a single variant of a,product to,upsell so i'm going to go ahead and,create a definition for that too,you may not need this if your products,don't have any options,that the customer must select like size,or color then you don't need to do this,but if you want to upsell a specific,variant on a product page then you'll,have to do this,so i'm going to call this one buy with,variant,and then again i've got to change this,this will still be by,underscore with

How to create custom page and product templates in our themes

hi everyone this is tim from milehi,themes.com in this video i'm going to,show you briefly how to create custom,page and product templates using our,themes,this functionality is supported in any,of our theme versions that support,online store 2.0,in this case we're looking at the,showtime theme but the same principles,will apply to any of our themes,so we're looking at the home page right,now,but if i click on this customer support,page this is an example of a custom page,template that we've used created in the,theme,we've got a banner up here with some,icons with text we've got an faq section,and we've got a contact us form that's,just an example of a landing page you,could create using the new sections,everywhere,so let's jump into a dev version of our,theme,and show you how that's done,so i'm going to go ahead and customize,our theme,and you'll see this drop down menu at,the top where we can quickly navigate to,pages or products,in this case i'm going to go to a page,and you'll see that there are a few page,templates that are included with the,theme here by default,as well as some that i've also created,for other videos,so if i click on the default page this,shows me what just a regular page in the,theme will look like,it's basically just got the content that,you've added in the rich text editor in,shopify,if i win if i wanted to i could go ahead,and add additional sections to this,template,but if i did that and saved then every,page that's using the default template,would also have the same sections with,the same content,that's not necessarily what you want to,do unless you want to have the same,sections and content with the same,images and text on every page,so a better thing to do would be,to click pages and create a template,we'll just call this custom three,and we can base it on different pages,depending on how we want the layout to,be so if we've already created a custom,page template that has sections that we,want to reuse but instead of having all,the same images and text,we use,unique content for each one then we can,base it on that in this case i'm going,to keep it based on the default page and,create a template,so now we're previewing this custom,three page template that i've created,it's not assigned to any pages yet and,we're previewing the about us page,now what we're previewing the page,doesn't really matter because we have to,set,the template that we're going to use for,each page,on the page settings itself,so for now it doesn't really matter what,page we're using in this case we've got,a few options for your heading and,regular page content over here depending,on your theme settings,we can go ahead and add sections to this,page now,and populate them just like we would,anything else and then save,so we've created our custom page,template and now we just need to assign,a page to it so to do that we can exit,out of the customizer,go to online store pages,and choose any page,so we've got this custom page that i've,used for another

What's New in Version 6.0 of the ShowTime Shopify Theme

hi there this is Tim from mile-high,themes I'm the creator of the Showtime,theme we're proud to announce the,release of Showtime version 6.0 which,has a lot of great new features rather,than type them all out and bore you a,text I decided to record a video to show,you some of the highlights of this new,version so let's jump right in we're on,the home page here in the development,soar and I'm gonna go over to the,collection page first because some of,the greatest features can be found there,so first of all one of the major things,that we got asked for and supported a,lot is on mobile all of your sidebar,menus over here show up at the bottom of,the page and so a lot of people wanted,to have the filters the group filtering,you see here showing on the top of the,page so the customer would find that and,could filter their products easily so,we've decided to change the interface at,that so I'm going to narrow this down to,a mobile size so you can see and the,sidebar has disappeared and it's no,longer at the bottom but now it's been,replaced with this filter button that,you can click and this little drawer,pops out and you've got your filters and,all of your other sidebar content right,in this nice drawer so we think that's a,great improvement for the collection,page and the filtering specifically,looking at some of the new settings we,have over here we've got this new,feature called infinite scroll and what,that does is it eliminates the,pagination on pages so all of your,products as you scroll down the page,will continue to load see this little,animation showing down here indicating,that more products are loading so these,products will continue to load and all,of your products from a specific,collection will now show on the page all,at once so this is a great feature for,people that don't necessarily want to,have their customers clicking through,multiple pages to find the products,they're looking for,but it also has the nice effect of only,loading those products as you get to,them so it's not taking cycles and,slowing down your website that's a,pretty cool new feature and that is of,course toggled on with this checkbox,right here we also have added the,ability to hide the product sorry the,collection featured image which is,typically a large landscape image that,shows right here under the title this,one this particular collection doesn't,have one assigned but it was pretty,common for people to ask how to turn,that off because they found it was just,too big so we now have that option right,here you can also hide this sale badge,which shows when a product's actual,price is less than the comparison price,I think I said that backwards,the comparison price is higher than the,actual price it will show that the,product is on sale and you can hide this,now if you wish we also have added the,ability to show the product review stars,right here on your collection page so if,you have Shopify's free product reviews,app enabled then you can now show the,number of r

Setting up Mega Menus in the ShowTime and Galleria Themes

hi there this is Tim from mile-high,themes comm I'm the creator of the,Showtime theme and this video is,designed to show you how to create,multicolor mega menus in your navigation,so in our cook time demo you can see,this is a four column mega menu so it,it's a really nice way to break up your,navigation if you have a lot of items in,there in two columns and by categories,and so forth so Shopify has recently,changed the way that menus are created,so I felt that it might be wise to,update a video to show you how to do it,in the new system so we begin I've got,another theme here on another site that,I'm playing around with that has no sort,of drop-down menus at this point so what,we're going to do first is we have to,enable mega menus in the theme settings,so if we go to the theme we want to edit,choose customize and once that loads we,were going to play with the header and,as you can see for now there's no drop,down menus associated with these links,at all click header and make sure that,at the bottom here we have mega menu,selected under navigation and the type,and we've got the main menu chosen here,as the primary menu save that and,obviously that hasn't changed anything,because we haven't set up any mega menus,yet but that enables that functionality,so from there we just need to go to,online store the navigation and this is,kind of what it looks like as it stands,right now we've just got these three,items in here and the new Shopify,functionality allows you to drag and,drop menu items around to reorder things,and that will update in real time on,your site so in this example we're going,to create a four column mega menu that,looks similar to this so we have four,headings here with some links underneath,and to do that we're going to use this,catalog link as the,main link so we just add a menu item and,these are going to be our four columns,so we'll create those first so I'm just,going to call this column one and then,you could either choose a link for these,column headings that they could actually,click on and go to if you like or if you,don't want them to be linked to anything,you can simply add a number sign in here,or hash hash sign whatever you so choose,click Add,so that fulfills the requirement Shopify,has to provide a link for all of the,items but it doesn't actually link,anywhere so now you see that this column,one has been generated but it's showing,in the same line as all of these so,that's just going to show in the main,heading there so now we can drag it and,put it under the catalog so as you drag,it around you see that it this little,arrow shows up and that indicates that,this item is now nested below the,catalog so now we can continue to create,our columns call this column to put in,another hash sign there add and we'll,continue to do this and note that you,can have two or three columns as well as,four so there's no limitation there and,it will show accordingly at that ad it's,like I just named this column let's call,it column 3 col

Using dynamic sources in your product and page templates

hi everyone this is tim from,milehighthemes.com and in this video i'm,going to show you how to create custom,product and page templates using meta,fields as opposed to creating alternate,templates,this functionality is supported in all,of our themes that support online store,2.0 functionality,so first of all i'm going to go ahead,and customize my theme here in this,scenario i'm using the galleria theme,but it works the same for all of our,themes,so i need to go to a product page so i,can do that by either clicking through,here the navigation to get to the,product page or i can use this drop down,menu,i'm going to click products,and we can see the custom product,templates that we've already created,i'm going to go ahead and go to a,default product so i can see what just a,regular product is set to look like in,this theme,so we've got a pretty typical product,layout here with a product gallery here,the title pricing and the ability to add,it to the cart,beyond that we have this image here with,some heading and regular text,and then another image with some text,over here,we've got some testimonials we've got,some related products,and we've got another image with text,section here,so,this is what every product page that's,using the default product template will,look like obviously this information,will change depending on which product,we're viewing but everything else,is going to be static with the exception,of these related products,because that's pulled in using shopify's,recommendation engine,but all these other sections that were,added manually over here are going to,have the same images and the same text,on every product page,so this may or may not work for you,if it does work great if it doesn't you,could create a unique product template,for every single product and drag and,drop your own sections to each one but,that's pretty tedious,and if you want to reuse some functions,like for example this image here,is just about saying that our products,are locally made with a background image,of san francisco,so this is kind of global content that,you might want on every product page,but this this might be like a feature of,the product for example,and maybe you want to have the same,section on each one but you want this,text to be different and this image to,be different,so in this case we can use meta fields,to do that,so i'll show you how to do that now,so the first thing i'm going to do is,i'm going to go ahead and create a,duplicate product template,so i go back to products and i click,create template,and in this situation i'm just going to,call this meta fields you can call this,whatever you want just whatever makes it,easy for you to remember,i'm going to base it on the default,product since that's what we're using to,you to preview,create template,so now i'm going to exit out of here for,a moment i'm going to go back to the,product,and i'm going to locate this key ring,product because we may as well use that,so there's the key ring,and i'm just

Showtime Theme Settings

hi Sean even spiffy stores today I'd,like to talk to you about the theme,settings that are built into the show,time thing with theme settings you can,easily change the look and feel of your,store without knowing any HTML and CSS,in most spiffy stores things you can,change colors fonts backgrounds and even,upload your own logo image here's our,show time demo store showing what the,show time theme originally looks like,we've already added some products in for,this demonstration in our demo store,we've added square images which are then,crop to be landscape in the store,homepage and collection pages if you're,using the Showtime theme in your store,you should generally upload images in a,landscape format to avoid having parts,of your image cropped off for more,information on the best image size to,upload please refer to our knowledge,base we have your store name in the,header here which if you don't have a,logo can be edited in your spiffy,toolbox in the Preferences section under,general settings but we've got a logo,for this store so we'll head back to our,theme editor and add our logo in the,first section in the theme settings,controls the settings in the store,header to add our logo mean we tick the,box that says use a logo and underneath,that we choose the mega jeans logo file,on our computer that we want to upload,well we've done that we scroll down and,click the Save Settings button let's go,back to our demo store and refresh the,page,you can see that my mega jeans logo is,now showing instead of the store name,text while we're here I'll just briefly,run you through what customizations are,built into the Showtime theme in the,header here we can upload a logo which,we've already done and we can choose,which menu we want to display underneath,the header we have a dynamic slideshow,on the homepage your slide show displays,five products from whichever collection,you choose you also have the choice of,displaying the text from each product,that's displayed or displaying a text,from the homepage,she can enter in the pages and blog,section of your spiffy tool box below,that we have some products to get,product to display in your home page add,them to the home page collection in the,collection section of your spiffy,toolbox and at the bottom we have the,store footer in the store for tea you,can add the header text for each menu,and choose which many as you want to,display you can also choose which,payment methods you'd like to display to,your visitors let's head over to a,product page product pages can display,social media links at the bottom of the,product display area your visitors,compose to Facebook Twitter send a link,to the page by email post on delicious,Digg StumbleUpon and even Google Buzz,social media links are also displayed on,blog articles so head over to a blog,article have a look you'll see that on,this article we also have a comment area,if you want to add this in as well,please refer to the documentation in our,knowledgebase on how to ad

Setting up "Local Shopify Theme" from Krown Themes

from crown themes,and in this video tutorial i want to,show you how to get started with our,brand new local theme,here i've just installed the theme,and i want to,go and customize it so this is what you,see when you,download our theme,and,start to work with it,first of all i want to take you a bit,through the theme settings,we have some general,settings for font families,some options for base size in case you,want to decrease or increase your phone,size also based on the fonts that you're,using,some options for line height,buttons font high what,weight,and also a dedicated area for changing,the menu size,and the font,height,second you have the color options,this theme as you can see is very,versatile you can change a lot of colors,the entire skin color scheme can be,changed you have,separate colors for,header,you have,separate colors for the body,as you can see and you have separate,colors for the cards now the cards,are,all these,boxed sections or blocks which have,their own color scheme,and,something that you might want to take,into consideration is that all the cards,can be,overwritten in terms of colors,except the product cards,so these are,default,default cards default colors,for example here you can see that these,are already,designed in a different way with,different colors and lastly we have the,footer,which,has a,new color set,in the layout,you can change the vertical space,between sections again this is also a,base vertical space because the theme,will change it based on different fonts,screen sizes,and the horizontal space between,elements in multi columns layout such as,featured collections,promotion cards and everywhere where you,have a multi-column layout,borders you can play with the border,with a card border,radius for example let's say i want to,make a,no radius and,really big,width,i'm changing this,also for the buttons you can change the,radius and for the forms you can change,the radius and the width of these are,the three,border settings,again for custom cards you will be able,to,override the border as you can see here,and completely hide it via a new setting,now on to the,product cards the product cards,will,affect the layout of any product grid so,for this,so you can see this better let's go to,the collections page template,so here we could see,all the cards uh,so we can play with the media aspect,ratio whether to be natural as you,upload it or square,or tall,you can change the text alignment,you can change the title size if you,have,long product,titles you can choose to show the second,media on hover,as you can see okay and then at the end,you can play with custom product badges,and of course first,the regular badges which are sold out,and,discount which you can change to be,either as a percentage or a text and,change its color,okay,then you have a few unique badges so,you can set them up like,this you have three different unique,badges you first write the text and then,the tag and then the color which will be,used,so here

Structuring and customizing product pages in Online Store 2.0 Shopify themes

hi everyone this is tim from mile hi,themes and in this video i'm just going,to quickly run through how to structure,your product page and also talk a little,bit about using custom product templates,so i'm looking at a standard product,page that we have in our showtime demo,this will be similar in our other themes,but for this particular video we're,looking at showtime,as you can see we've got kind of basic,product information up here at the top,where the cart button is some other,stuff,and then we have some sections down,below using the new sections everywhere,functionality,that comes with online store 2.0 and the,latest version of our themes,so i'm just going to briefly show you,how this is set up and how you can,control how this looks,so over here i have a clean dev version,of the theme that i'm going to be,messing around with i'm going to click,customize here,and i'm going to use this drop down to,go to a product page now you'll notice,that there could be a few custom product,templates in here already in your theme,version,but we're just going to look at the,default product for now,and this is what every product page in,your store will look like out of the box,so for our default product template for,this particular theme we've added a few,sections already,and then this this information obviously,will be there on every product page and,it will update to show the details of,that particular product,so we have an image of a text section,here we have some recommended products,and we have a gallery down here,so first of all we're just going to talk,about,the right side here of this product,information,you see that there's this product,information section here,that you can toggle on and off and,there's all of these different features,enabled,product title is obviously the title,price variant selector all that's pretty,standard we've got a stock status here,you'll notice that you can,turn these on and off,turn off the display,if you click on one of them,you'll see this option to remove the,block over here and then some additional,settings will show up over here,you can drag these around to put things,in different positions like if you,wanted the stock status to appear right,below the product title you can drag it,so it appears there,if you wanted to add some additional,features that are included with your,theme you can click add block and then,you see all the different options,in this case there's quite a few,different things you can add to layout,this area of the product page,we'll talk about a few of them here,so you can see that,most of these are pretty straightforward,as far as determining what it is if you,wanted to add a custom text blocks,there's the quantity selector,pickup availability,if you allow your customers to pick up,the products at your store,product rating would be if you're using,the shopify reviews app,you can add some accordions of text so,if you have a long block of text that,you want to show for the product,description you can
