Shopify has just released two new free,themes and in today's video we're going,to check them both out together you're,going to get my real honest live,reaction to these two new Shopify themes,publisher and origin before we get into,the video if you like videos about,winning products Drop Shipping Shopify,themes apps and tutorials do us a favor,and hit that subscribe button and turn,notifications on now let's get into the,video so the First theme we have here is,called publisher,so let's just go ahead and take a look,okay,so we have this one's a link right here,I guess to a collection,this uh picture isn't clickable,then we have a new arrival collection I,like this,um it looks like there's more here but I,just don't see like a way to scroll,which is kind of odd like you can tell,this is a carousel but,where is the arrow I don't know,that that part's a little confusing okay,next,another image here with no click,I have mixed feelings about this because,it's a huge image and I just feel like,if you're going to take up that much,space It should be clickable it should,be leading to something like if someone,sees this product and they want to buy,it well you can't click it like there's,no option to,uh see the product the actual product,this one right here is we have the,apparel collection,then gift card I love that Shopify is,um showcasing more gift cards this is,pretty cool oh nice they have the option,of physical digital and then yeah I like,that,um,then we have a little notice here about,free shipping,and then yeah this one isn't clickable,and then I guess,um an advertisement to see upcoming,events and then we have the footer okay,let's just check out some of the,individual Pages oh that's interesting,too actually I didn't notice that right,away but there's no menu and there's no,scrolling menu either so,this is more of like um,one page design could be used as a,um one product store,um but yeah I'll just go down here I,guess I'll click this but yeah that's,really odd like there's like I mean we,have the links here and then the shop,buttons but,why is there,literally no menu whatsoever,that that's kind of odd okay anyways,let's go,let's check out books,okay,I like the Mouse,um Mouse over effect where it changes,photos that's nice,just kind of curious to see like an,individual product page so we'll just,click this one,I do really like the purple background,here this is really nice,nice I like the little icons,change here,you may also like that's handy okay,um again see like I want to like click,somewhere else but there's no links I,really right at the moment I dislike,that I'm curious to see how this is,gonna look on mobile I'll just pop it up,on the screen so you guys can follow,along as well but,curious to see how that works on mobile,but I feel like scrolling to the bottom,here to change the links every time is,not if not very user friendly,let's just check the about us page,yeah it's just it's nice,um,let's see what else we should check out,here,se

so far on this channel we've continued,to go deeper and deeper into shopify,theme development but today i want to,zoom out and talk more broadly about the,need for theme development to begin with,if you're new here i'm chris and i,currently specialize as a front-end web,developer for the shopify platform i.e i,do shopify theme development but if,you've clicked on this video i'm going,to take a guess and say that you don't,actually need my services let me explain,so given that i've built a bit of a,reputation for this kind of work i get a,range of people reach out to me some of,which are just starting out in,e-commerce and to virtually all of these,people i tell them to start with a,pre-built theme and focus on customizing,their theme later,why because as a new store owner your,primary goal should be on sales and,marketing not on getting your theme,perfectly customized i'll be honest a,custom site for me is typically going to,come with a five figure price tag and if,you don't have a ton of traffic on the,site yet that budget is probably better,spent on generating traffic instead,pre-built themes whether free or paid,will do the trick for the majority of,sellers and with premium themes starting,at a price tag of just around 220 usd,it's an easy investment to justify that,is until you reach a certain level,that level is typically when you start,to turn over more than a million dollars,in revenue at this point you have a real,business and with around 40 profit,margin you're making around 400k which,you can start to split up between,marketing and website improvements,people often ask me do i build websites,to which i answer no i customize,existing ones regardless of whether,you're just starting out or a few years,into your business,very rarely is it the case that i as a,developer need to create a brand new,theme for a client,most e-commerce sites have similar,features almost every product page has a,set of product images a product title,description price product form,and the add to cart button so there's no,need to reinvent the wheel but with a,bit of theme development we can add,extra features to the product page make,unlimited changes to the styling of this,page and this is where theme development,comes in,while the theme might come with some,customization options the only way to,achieve full control is enlisting the,help of someone who understands,front-end web development on the shopify,platform so with this in mind let me,directly answer the question in the,title of this video,the first decision you need to make is,free or paid theme as i mentioned,earlier this is going to be a question,you need to answer no matter whether you,plan to create a custom site or not as,it's almost always more cost efficient,to start with a pre-built theme and this,decision i would recommend you make,based purely on your budget if you can,afford the two to three hundred dollars,required to buy a premium theme then i,definitely recommend you do it,at the time of record

i'm from v6 we're a web agency that,specializes with e-commerce and using,shopify,i wanted to show you around one of the,features in shopify admin which allows,you to preview,your new theme before you publish it,so,in the back in the shopify if we log in,and on the left hand side look down,under online store you'll see themes,and then within the themes you'll see,your current theme that's in use so in,this case we'll use dawn,dawn is a new theme that shopify,released in 2021,in my themed library i've got an another,theme called simple,and the theme library shows any themes,i've got from the shopify theme store,that are free,or any that i've purchased,so the simple theme for example is a,free theme that shopify,gives away,and we can if you wanted to,edit this theme before we publish it,so if i click on the customize button,it'll take us into the theme editor for,that particular theme and you can see on,the on the thin simple theme that we've,actually added in a logo there's our,logo on top there,and also we've also added a message,so,message like so,and you can see in the live preview,window that these changes have been made,let's just um,change the logo size,like so,and then there's a button on the top,right that says save and there's also a,button says publish,now what we want to do at this point is,just save the changes and not publish,them we don't want to go live so we'll,click on the save button,and what we can see if we click on the,exit on the top left,it takes us back to the theme panel,and we can see now,under online store click on the little,eye icon you can see that we're still,using our,dawn theme so no logo and welcome to our,store message,whereas if we go to the theme library,and scroll down here's our simple theme,we've just made some changes too,under the actions drop down you can,click on preview,and you can see that our,simple theme with our new message at the,top here on our smaller logo,is viewable so this is not live this is,just a preview of that particular theme,before they make the theme live then,it's as simple as choosing from action,actions drop down the publish button,and ask us are we sure we wish to,publish the theme click on publish,and now when we click on the little eye,icon,beside online store,we'll see the actual theme we've just,made the changes to live this is now a,live thing,uh if you want to revert the change and,go back then we have our dawn theme in,our library still here,so again in actions we can choose,publish,we're going to ask are we sure we'll,click on publish,and then go back to online store click,on the eye icon again,and again we're back to our dawn theme,so hopefully from this you've seen how,easy it is to,publish publisher theme but also easy,how easy it is to customize,and preview a thing this allows you to,make a lot of changes to a new theme,before actually making it live to the,customers,i hope that helps as i say my name is,grants i'm from vue six and we build and,grow online shops

in today's video i'm just going to be,going over some of the next steps that,i'm taking in building my shopify store,for selling low content books welcome to,my channel my name is caroline and if,you've been following along i have,recently done a couple of videos where,i'm building a shopify store to sell low,content books on just to give a really,quick background on this i,sell low content books on amazon kdp and,last year my account was accidentally,deleted and although i did get it back,it made me think about,having multiple streams of income and,not relying just on one platform just in,case just in case the worst happens,where for whatever reason,i or we cannot sell on amazon kdp,anymore so i've decided to set up a,standalone online store so i'm not going,to have,the,platform of kdp which already has,built-in customers for me to promote my,books to i'm going to be creating my own,shopify store where i'm going to have to,find customers myself but i'm excited,and i'm looking forward to the challenge,so so far i have done videos where i,show,setting up the shopify store and just,doing that back end admin,area setup,and then,my last video was how to connect shopify,to lulu which is the print on demand,supplier that i'm going to be using to,create and ship my low content books,and so now i'm just going to be doing,some customizing i installed my theme in,the last video too i used the debutify,theme just the free version,and so we're just going to go over,what i'm going to be doing to customize,the store,and,what i want it to look like so i have,basically already created a logo and i,just wanted to go for,sort of like a red romantic type of font,type of,theme color branding that sort of thing,in terms of a logo i generally just like,font logos i don't like anything too,complicated and anything that distracts,from,the name of the store i just personally,think you should just have your logo,very clear on what your store's called,so as to not confuse anybody about where,they are and so i've never used this,theme before,so i am sort of just finding my way,as i go and trying to figure out where,everything is,for,all the stuff that i want to,customize so i just head over to the app,which opens up in a new window so the,debutify theme is under the apps,section of shopify and then we can go to,theme library,just noticed there is an update,available so i'm just going to do that,first okay so i've updated the theme so,now i've got the most current version,and i've just clicked on the theme i've,just installed and i'm just going to,start customizing it now there's some,parts of this video i may not talk over,i might just record my screen and you,can watch what i'm doing because,like i say i haven't actually used this,thing before so i'm just going to be,doing a lot of clicking around trying to,figure out where everything is and try,to change the things i want to change,if i do anything and i'm not talking,about it as i'm doing it and you want to,ask me any qu

this is for zip of my pages I have a,major announcement my name is Ezra check,this out,so inside I'm gonna first tell you about,I'm pretty excited I can't even talk so,basically what we've been able to do is,make so that zipa five pages can work,within the infrastructure of your,current Shopify theme which is up we've,been like working on this for like 12,months this one feature trying to figure,out how to get it to work in addition to,our application we'll check this out,here we are inside of zip if I pages,right and let's say we wanted to use you,know one of our templates may be like,our long-form product to offer page,template here I'm just gonna create that,template so now this template itself,you'll notice once it's actually created,here and now it's created it's just,taking a second little bit slow so,you'll notice that I have a header,already on this template so what I'm,gonna do is I'm gonna go ahead and,delete that header now normally what I,would have told people to do is go ahead,and use one of the many headers that we,have built into our zip if I pages,application this is one of my favorites,right here but in this case I'm gonna,delete that header I'm gonna scroll down,and I'm gonna delete this voter right,here as well pretty standard footer and,I'm gonna come in to the page settings,option I'm gonna go into layout and I'm,gonna say use the theme header and,footer and I'm gonna save that and what,you'll notice and I'll see this thing,page settings saved you'll notice is,that I've got this placeholder it says,this placeholder image will be replaced,with your themes header when viewing,this page live this placeholder image,will be replaced with your themes footer,when viewing this page live and then,within that infrastructure I can do drag,and drop long-form left/right content in,a zip apply pages functionality anything,that I want can modify that let's just,leave the page as is for now I'm gonna,publish this on to the store real quick,and what I want to do then is actually,preview this on the storm' what we're,gonna see is that this page is published,using the header and footer from our,store this is where our footer starts,right here with this you know be,friendly carousel and then some videos,this is our stores header now this page,is a constrained page so probably what I,would do is enable the fixed layout,there and save that to make that look,even better,man you now have the ability to use your,theme's header and footer now let me,show you another example inside the boom,store I can add a page use a template,now this is a new functionality that we,just developed let's say I grab this,page right here and this is a new thing,it's not even live in the application,yet we're about to add this live into,the application let's go ahead and,delete this header here let's go ahead,and delete this footer and there's one,more functionality that I'm gonna show,you here I'm gonna go ahead and delete,this navigation bar I'm gonna come into,my page
