hey what's going on graduates so i want,to build a community-based theme,we want to do this for a while,you know and i want to collaborate with,the community i want to collaborate with,e-com store owners and just create a,badass theme for free,now,i want you all to to dictate what,features go into this theme now i'm,going to show you some of the work that,we've done my wife and i we own a,company called ecom graduates as you,should know already and we focus,primarily on custom theme development,for shopify and various platforms but,primarily shopify and that's what i want,to focus on shopify released shopify 2.0,i think last year and it just changed,the game it allowed you to do a lot of,cool things a lot of unique things that,i haven't seen anybody do yet,and our themes are very fast,they they load within like 800 you know,600 800 milliseconds,like they're very very fast and we build,app-like functionalities into these,custom teams we also develop you know,custom apis various integrations you,know you would come to us with,very,very complex issues and what you would,do is you would um you know say hey i,want to take this data over here and i,want you to make it usable over here and,that's that's what we do at econ,graduates but what i want to do is i,want to develop a theme with a lot of,these features built in and you tell us,what you want and we'll go and do it and,we'll uh you know work with everybody,because,i think,a lot of stores all look the same and,that's what we focus on we want to take,people take someone's brand and really,you know scale it up with you know a,nice well-designed theme but anyways,let's show you what we're working on,currently and what we've already already,worked on and you can always look at our,portfolio go to ecom graduates dot com,the link will be in the description,below or if you're in the group just,comment below and or look at the,description in the group and also,comment below if you guys are interested,if you think this would be really cool,and you want to be involved if you're a,developer and you want to be involved i,will most likely open source the theme,as well but anyways i'm going to show,you some of the work that we've done,this is a theme that we're actually,currently working on,um it's we call it eg big store if you,guys want to go to eg hyphen big,store.myshopify.com the password is one,and so is eg smartshop now this is a,free theme that we currently have,right here this is you can actually go,and download it and use it for free,and the password for this is also one so,eg hyphen,smartshop.myshopify.com and,lastly our website ecom graduates.com,you can take a look at our portfolio you,can also take a look at testimonials if,you you know want to hire us but that's,not what this for so this eg big store,we don't have it out released yet we're,still fine tuning it this will be a paid,theme but it's not going to be like 200,some odd dollars you know where a lot of,people charge stupid amounts of money

so if you're new to shopify and just,setting up your first store or maybe you,already have a store launch but you're,ready for a little bit of a refresh then,this video is going to help you find the,perfect theme for your shopify store,because to be completely honest i have,totally for my shopify stores as well as,client stores gone through customizing a,theme only to realize,yeah i should have just done a different,theme and now i've wasted all this time,and money and i just have to make this,theme work when i should have just,picked a better theme in the first place,so when you're going through and looking,at the theme store it's kind of hard to,figure out which theme that you should,pick for your business so i wanted to,create this video to give you some help,so the first tip that i have is to,really think about how many products,that you have do you have hundreds of,products that are all these different,skus all these different categories or,maybe do you have a handful of products,that you're wanting to showcase on your,site it really does depend because the,way that your site design is going to be,built is going to be very different,based on the needs that you have based,off how many products that you have to,show on your site so for example if you,have a ton of products on your site then,you're definitely going to need to have,a really good search functionality,you're wanting to have some filtering,where people can filter by size or color,or availability as well as a really well,displayed drop down menu so that people,can both on desktop and mobile versions,quickly get to the collections and the,product pages on your site,where if you have a bit smaller maybe,let's say 20 or under products you're,not going to really need all of that,functionality and it's actually just,going to make your site look a little,bit more bare instead it's going to be,better for you to go with a site that,doesn't have all those bells and,whistles and instead is focusing on more,storytelling aspects and using some,lifestyle product photography to really,kind of bring more of your brand and,your mission throughout the site and,then feature your products there you can,tell it's very different than of,different customers and buying styles,all based off how many product skus that,you have so it's really important to,keep in mind and you can actually search,on the shopify theme store whether it's,a small or a large catalog and you can,kind of see then where what,functionality is available for each,my second tip is to really keep in mind,of what your individual product,photography is like because let's be,honest we'll go to the theme store and i,definitely do the same as well i will,click on the themes that the photography,is more attractive to me and then i'm,realizing that i'm more into the,photography than i am the theme and,that's a problem because the photography,honestly has probably been purchased to,use for the theme store and so if you,haven't paid a lot of mone

PAID vs Free Shopify Themes

what's up everybody mark from prime uh,mark with ecom orders excuse me,welcome to a new youtube video today,we're gonna be talking,uh continuing the uh conversation on,uh premium versus free themes and we're,gonna talk about,you know who is a free theme ideal for,versus who is a premium theme idea for,now i've kind of spoke about this before,in my last video but i'm going to go a,little bit into depth,but i'm going to try to keep it as,simple as possible and what i want to,use is a live example i want to use,an example uh with kylie jenner,and and explain something here there's a,question that's ongoing,in the shopify community that is needed,to be answered,and it's you know should i be using or,can i expect,to get sales using a free theme the,answer is absolutely you can expect,to get sales assuming you're doing,everything properly,but what you're doing is you're losing,money long term it's going to cost you,more money,to use a free them than to use a shopify,theme,excuse me a paid theme and of course it,depends what kind of theme you're using,now not all,paid themes are created equal okay um,like the theme that i use is the wolf of,shopify theme if you guys may or may not,know,uh probably the number one theme out,there right now,um and i first found out about it two,years ago,and it was something that you know i,shared on my youtube channel things like,that,and it evolved it changed and what,happens is and then i realize is that,certain shopify themes,first of all are going to save you money,over others meaning if you go to,uh their their little demo here there's,certain things that they build in the,theme,that make the theme better right like a,discount at the checkout,one-step checkout you know,scarcity product counters these are,things that you have to,normally pay for when you buy an app or,when you buy a shopify theme or when you,get a free shopify theme,you have to add apps to the shopify,theme right that you pay,a subscription for and this is why these,themes are going to not only save you,money,but they're also going to increase the,amount of money you make because what,you're going to do is you're going to be,using a theme that looks professional,and increases your overall conversion,rate,now i said that you know you can get,sales using a free theme,but you're going to be wasting money or,losing money right,that's fair to say but what's going to,happen is if you're using a free theme,there's only a very select group of,people that can get away with free,themes,and unfortunately it's 99 of us who,can't,and this is why i want to use kylie,jenner as an example,how many fans does kylie jenner have,millions upon millions upon millions,right,she can get away with using a completely,free theme because everybody already,trusts her everybody knows her her she's,very publicly well known and she has,that almost that requirement to the,public,to be able to provide the best quality,product now,if she was using a free theme it,wouldn't make a differ

HOW TO SET UP DAWN 7 THEME MEGA MENU IN SHOPIFY | TUTORIAL 2022

welcome back graduates now today I'm,going to show you how to set up and,configure your mega menu for Don 7. the,reason why we are having this video is,because Don 7 has kind of changed the,way it's laid out and their and their,code and and everything so it is,different than the older versions of Don,so if you do have an older version of,Don go check out the other menu on the,other Mega menu how to install that but,for this this is specifically for Dawn,seven now there are three simple steps,for this and as always we give you a,readme file,a zip file that has you know the readme,file installation guide and then also,the RTF for you to just copy and paste,so let's get right into it so what it's,going to look like is this is the dawn 7,version right now and it's going to be,exactly the same as before however the,only difference is how to install it,because Don has changed up so much,now when you go in here you have the the,image here it's pulling the image and a,link and,as well as on mobile just like this so,what I'm going to do is I'm going to get,a clean version of Don 7 and you can,simply do that by going into free themes,and Dawn and add it to your theme,Library so that's what I'm gonna do just,to show you everything's all nice and,clean there's no Snippets no other,features so now Don 7 has been installed,properly it's all nice and clean and,there's no mega menu so to check that,out we're just going to go to preview,and right over here it looks weird and,it looks wonky so let's go into your,edit code as always,and the first step of the readme file is,gonna it's gonna tell us to add the EG,Mega menu image Js from in in my assets,what I'm going to do is go into my code,here,so I can close out of these code here,and I'm going to go down to my assets,and I'm going to add a new asset create,a blank one and select JS now the file,right over here we're going to provide,it for you and all you're going to have,to do is open that so I'm just going to,copy this,foreign,and I'm also just going to open this up,copy and paste,and I'm all set with that,so the next thing I'm going to do is go,into my theme dot liquid and right under,the closing body tag I'm going to add,this script right over here I'm going to,add the script,and I'm going to go into my theme.liquid,at the very bottom it's usually at the,very very very bottom so right after the,end if I'm going to paste that,and I'm gonna just make sure there are,no spaces with everything,like this and I'm going to click save,now the next step is going I'm going to,go into my customizer,and from here this is a crucial step I'm,going to go into my header right over,here and I'm going to,select desktop menu type and I'm going,to select Mega menu so once I click save,it should start populating the image,which it does which is great now if you,haven't had this if you haven't done,this step yet you have to go into the,navigation so it automatically pulls in,this image because I've already had a,set but if you don'

Shopify How to Redirect ATC to checkout page in dawn theme for FREE 2022

welcome back econ graduates so upon a,viewer's request they wanted to be able,to uh make this add to cart button just,skip right to checkout and I'm going to,show you how to do that it's very quick,it's easy it's free and um very very,simple um and now this is for Dawn theme,um this should technically work on other,on all the other free Shopify themes,they're pretty much laid out very,similarly but anyways let's just get,right to it right now this add to cart,button what it does is it pulls up this,right here we want to get rid of this we,want to go straight to checkout now I,know there's a Buy It Now button but,some people want to have both options,where it just goes right to checkout so,let's let's get right to it,um anyways guys what you're going to do,is you're going to go into your Shopify,admin dashboard you're going to click on,online store then you're going to go and,edit the theme that you want to edit so,this is the theme we want to edit right,here click on edit code and there's a,few files we're going to edit so we're,going to go right down to assets and,we're going to look for cart,notifications and then while we're at it,we're also going to go and open up,productform.js and you'll see here,you'll see this dot cart on line nine,um we'll just we're just going to,comment this one out right here,and let's go down as well there's,another line here as well and what this,saying is else if there's no this dot,cart we're going to have it,automatically route to cart URL now what,I'm going to do is I'm going to save,this and I'll show you what that means,let's refresh and when you click on add,to cart it's going to go straight to the,cart page so naturally we don't want,this right we want it to go to the,checkout so what we're going to do is,we're going to replace this this right,here what we'll do actually we'll just,comment this just so that way,you know you don't now if you ever want,to comment a line of code just do uh two,forward slashes right there and we're,gonna replace that we're gonna get rid,of this this little string of text here,and we're just gonna do single quotes,I'm going to do forward slash checkout,and we'll hit save,now in another video I'll go more in,depth and we'll most likely create a,snippet to enable or disable this option,for you but for this sake,um someone was in a rush uh Jewel,I think that's your name,um making this video Just For You Baby,all right so now what we're going to do,is go to the product and we're going to,click add to cart right now we have,eight items in our cart so when we go to,checkout we should have nine right,now as you can see it's taken a little,bit,come on Shopify let's go,any day now,come on there we go now we have nine so,you're straight to checkout that's how,you do it return the cart,and it brings them to their cart page,which is good which is exactly what we,want so let's go and do this one more,time,add the cart,we should have one item,there you go now most likely you're,going to want t

HOW TO MAKE CUSTOM SHOPIFY PAGE LAYOUT TEMPLATES, SECTIONS, AND THEMES | SHOPIFY 2.0 TUTORIAL 2022

welcome back graduates so today I'm,going to show you how to create custom,page templates with Shopify 2.0 which is,an amazing new feature that was released,about a year ago and what that basically,means is,um you have sections on the home page,and whatever sections you have on the,home page you have readily available to,create beautiful landing pages on any,other page so I'm going to show you how,to create how to create a custom page,template but then I'm going to use one,of us one of the sections that,uh We've created for you and then show,you how to set that up as well I know,there's been many requests how to use,the section the FAQ section as a,standalone page itself so I'm going to,go right into it and show you three two,one here we go,so you're in the back end of your,Shopify store and there's a couple steps,on how to do this you're not going to,get a zip file or anything but I'm just,going to show you right here so if I,click customize into my theme,I'm going to see the FAQ at the very,bottom right here,and it's a nice accordion drop down and,if you haven't had if you don't have,this yet but you know you really want it,go and check the uh the other video,the FAQ video so going down here you,have this and it is on the home page but,let's say I want to create a brand new,just specifically isolated FAQ page,itself with the section here that you,know you purchased or on other themes so,this doesn't just uh this doesn't just,go on our theme this applies to any,other theme,um when you're on Shopify 2.0 so right,over here I'm going to go into my theme,editor home page pages and I'm going to,create a new template so when you see,the option create a new template or,create templates you'll know that you,are on Shopify 2.0 just as is so right,now I only have contact so I'm going to,create a page template I'm going to name,it FAQ and this will only have the FAQ,content in it,and I'm just going to do a based on,the default page,now it's going to look like this,and you know it it looks all weird and,jumbled and it doesn't look like it's,FAQ page so right over here there's a,preview you can preview and I don't have,a FAQ page right now,and then there's page you can hide this,and what this means is you can hide the,page content right here so I'm just,going to hide this and then now I'm,going to go and add the section and you,have all these sections that you can add,to build out beautiful landing pages but,what I'm going to do is I'm just going,to start typing in F for the FAQ,right over here and then here is the,default and I'm just going to save this,once you have this section you can go,and design it however you want,um with our settings again we do have,you know,options here Max width you can also add,another section here so I'm just going,to add this and categorize it so it'll,look really nice and I'm just gonna do,1200 again so this top section I can do,let's do General,and oh,General and the bottom section here I'm,going to name this let's say this

HOW TO SET UP DAWN THEME MEGA MENU IN SHOPIFY | TUTORIAL 2022

welcome back graduates today i'm going,to teach you how to change your ugly old,dawn theme menu and give it a snazzy,fancy mega menu now the reason why we,like mega menus they're just beautiful,they make things a lot easier it allows,your customer to actually go find it,find your your menu and actually find,the products you're looking for all the,time we see these stores where they have,these,massive menus all these different,multiple menu items on their store,it's it's all stacked and it just it's,very confusing and annoying and nine,times out of ten your customer will look,at your menu if it's that complex and,annoying and they're just gonna leave,they're gonna go find somebody else,because you know everyone,what's the one thing that we don't have,a lot of that's time we don't have a lot,of time that's the most valuable thing,on this planet is time and your,objective is to save people time,deliver the products that they actually,want without causing any friction any,disconnects nothing like that so anyways,nothing enough of me rambling about how,amazing mega menus are we're going to,get right to it so firstly what i'm,going to show you is how to structure,your menu so that way it actually works,with this mega menu system a little,different than other apps out there and,themes,this is going to be built into your,store so without further ado let's get,right to it so this is the admin backend,you should all be acquainted with it by,now if you're not,why are you watching this video so,anyways we're going to click on online,store we're going to click on navigation,and then we're going to go to the main,menu because that's that's what it is,it's the main menu,now one thing i want you to take note of,is you have these so when i'm i'm going,to be talking i'm going to be saying i'm,saying things like you know parent child,grandchild you're probably going to,think i'm talking about your family i'm,not i swear to god i'm talking about,this these are called link lists and,they have a parent item they have a,child item and then they have grandchild,child children items,again it's tongue twister right so,parent child grandchild so now the first,item is the mega menu the second item is,brew by type the brew the trio,right here and then you have these items,right here so now we have our mega menu,we have brew type,so here's the the parent,the child and then here's its,grandchildren right,so now where,this is how you have to you know,structure things you can make this,clickable right here where it goes to,your home page and this item would,actually go to well these would actually,go to products we don't have them set up,like that they're just examples for you,um now let's let's figure out how how,are we going to change this image when,once we actually have the mega menu,capabilities so what you want to do is,you want to go to settings click on,settings i want to show you we're going,to change this image out to something,else,so once you go to settings you're go

How To Offer The Amazon Prime Return Experience On Shopify

hey,everybody,justin cener here how's it going i'm,going to show you in this video how to,offer the amazon prime return experience,on your shopify store this is incredibly,powerful and really every single store,can benefit and you're always being,compared to amazon and when we're,talking about expectations for free,returns,amazon has really changed and now set,customer expectation and no matter what,you're selling you're going to be,compared to what amazon does right,they're the leader and a huge majority,of searches start on amazon and when you,kind of offer the same type of,experience right let's say free returns,right the ease of returns like amazon,has you're going to see a huge increase,in customer loyalty you're going to see,a decrease in chargebacks and disputes,and negative reviews and you're going to,reduce refunds overall it's an,incredibly powerful strategy and really,every single big store is implementing,something like this because it simply,benefits the customer and the store,owner in terms of increasing your,customer satisfaction and your customer,loyalty they're going to come back and,buy from you again but there are,definitely some pain points that stores,run into when trying to implement,a amazon like return experience and,returns are hard to manage for brands of,all sizes whether you're just a solo,entrepreneur or you have an entire team,returns are not something that you like,to do as a store of course you want to,keep your customers happy but they,definitely operationally wise can slow,you down they can set you back refunds,obviously they decrease sales just in,terms of the number but they also stick,to merchant with return inventory it's,just going to simply pile up and you,might be looking at you know maybe your,garage or your basement or a closet,where you just have returns just thrown,in there right i mean it's kind of,not only a hassle in terms of losing,that sale but then having that inventory,burden where you're not going to be you,know probably re-fulfilling or resending,out that item after it's returned,costs associated with it can really kind,of put a dent into your bottom line,decreasing the sales accepting free,returns there's a lot of different costs,that go along with that of course and,those are kind of the big stopping,points for brands implementing this,powerful strategy of offering that,amazon like return experience and don't,get me wrong store owners know that they,should it's just something that they,don't want to do in terms of dealing,with the cost so how do you do this the,right way i'm going to show you redo and,this is what i use this is what i highly,recommend i get all my students to jump,into this because this is a real great,deal for kind of increasing your,customer satisfaction and increasing,just the ease of use by offering these,free returns so we're going to go over,the shoulder and i'm going to show you a,little bit more,so this is redo free return automation,app over here on the shopify app

How To Update Shopify Theme | Customization development Course

hey what's up econ grads so today i'm,going to be teaching you how to update,your theme without losing your settings,and,what i mean by that is when you whenever,you get a new theme update,typically you'll get a zip file you have,to upload it to your store and then you,have to redesign the entire store,all over again which is very,counter-intuitive we have all been there,it's annoying,we're very busy lives we can't be,redesigning what we already did so i'm,going to teach you a very quick and easy,way,to migrate most of your design edits,from your,lower version to the newer version and,i'm going to simulate that by,using an exported version of this theme,if you haven't checked out the other,videos,go and check them out where we teach you,how to you know create custom page,sections and overall just turn debut,theme into an overall better theme,and we're going to keep working on that,um you know that i guess case study or,mini course for you guys to kind of,learn from and how to modify your themes,without having to pay,expensive fees to a developer or use an,expensive app that may slow down your,store,but anyways without further ado let's,get right started uh get started right,away,and i'm gonna show you that right now so,what we're gonna do is we're gonna,upload the exported version of this i,did remove the settings,and let's go upload that bring it over,the bam,upload shouldn't take very long to,upload,and we just gotta wait on shopify,because they take nine years,so while we're waiting for this to,populate we're just gonna,click on over click edit code open that,up in a new tab,and then what you want to do and this is,for all themes this works on every,single theme guys so,you know if you say it's not working on,your theme it's probably something,you're doing wrong but,if you have any issues leave a comment,in the section in the comment section,below,and you know someone will reach out and,try to help you out but what you want to,do right here is you're going to see a,settings data.json file right,you're going to want to get that open,that up and what you want to do,is you can do control a or command a to,highlight all the text then you do ctrl,c or command c,if you're on mac and copy that over and,let's see if this is done populating,there we go it's done so now we're going,to open that up into a new,tab edit code,and just to show you guys what this,looks like now currently,there's nothing here right there's no,data here and now on the actual live,version we'll go here,we actually have data there's content we,can see it so,we're going to go back and at because we,copied this over we'll do it once one,more time just to be safe,i'm going to go back here i'm going to,go to config settings data,and we're just going to highlight that,and paste it in you can do ctrl v or,command v or you can just,right click paste but then once you're,done pasting just click save,really simple i'm telling you guys i,wasn't joking this is really easy,so now we're going
