How to use Shopify CLI 3.0 for Theme Development and deploy themes to different stores.
Globe again in today's video we're going,to speak about Shopify CLI 3.6 3.2,whatever you want to call it and before,we get started I just want you to know,that I have tried it I have give it a,shot and it's really awesome and you,will see we will get to all the features,in a second so bear with me and you will,also need to know that the old version,will no longer be supported until uh,like I think it's 31st May of next year,and usually some people still use 10K,because well some Futures teamkit has,some advantage over the old CLI version,especially for team development but now,with 3.x it's really you will see that I,think everyone will make great to 3.6,once once I show these Futures so yeah,I'm really really excited because you,will see all the features in this in a,second,but before we get started with the code,you will actually need to migrate to the,newest version,and to migrate they have if you click,Shopify CRI in the documentation they,have a really easy migration guide and,especially if you are on Mac since,Michael you have to do if you have,installed it with Homebrew all you have,to do is really click home brew upgrade,Shopify CLI if you have never installed,Shopify CLI in the first place all you,have to do is just Brew I think add,Shopify CLI and it will go to it will,install the latest version which is,um which is 3.22 for me so yeah,if you are on other uh machines like,Linux or revi or,excuse me or Windows you probably have,installed it with Gem and if you have to,if you had installed it with gem you,need to uninstall the old implementation,and install the new the new,implementation using uh using npm or,yarn or pnpm whatever you like since,it's now hosted on npm because it's a,typescript package it's a node package,and it's no longer a ruby package since,the newest version is actually,built using a typescript the old version,is using Ruby the newest version if you,if we check the GitHub you will see it's,Rewritten in typescript it's not fully,Rewritten in typescript it's actually a,wrapper especially for the teams part,it's a wrapper over the typescript,implementation over the old Rabbi,implementation sorry so yeah,uh now all you have to do is just click,here on global ads at Shopify and it,will add Shopify you will need to,install the core package which is,shopify.cr day and then install the,plugin yeah it's a plugin uh you will,see how the Shopify team commands all,are a plugin it's actually a plugin that,is added to the core CLI to support,Shopify team Commons so now if I,actually once you do that you will have,the latest version,and once you do that,um you can also still use the old,version of the Shopify CLI uh but you,will have to call it to change the pads,especially if you are if you have,installed it with Homebrew you will have,to change the naming using the pads like,like we do if you are if you're ever,used python for example we have python 2,and python for python 3. that's that's,reminds me of that,um the old implementat

okay guys this is a video that i like to,call what the hell is wrong with dawn,and how can i fix it,so if you've been using shopify dawn or,shopify 2.0 and you changed an old store,to a new store it's not going to work,because everything is different but,don't panic because there's a really,really easy way to understand why it's,not working and how we can fix it,okay so let's talk about the big problem,with the change to shopify if you don't,know what,you're doing basically like i didn't at,the beginning um,every single tutorial that you will look,at every single tutorial that you look,and watch that's been made in the last,15 years will tell you to do something,probably to the theme dot c,s c s s dot liquid file in shopify and,when you look for it in shopify 2.0 it,will not exist because it does not exist,anymore and they've completely changed,it and the reason that they've done this,is because it allows a much smoother,mobile shopping experience and what,they've done is incredible and it's,going to make shopify the best uh,e-commerce,cms available,but there is a problem,dot s uh c,s c s s liquid has gone and every single,serial is gonna tell you to use that so,what do we do instead instead,okay so there are two fundamental things,that we need to know um and that is,anything that you should have been,putting in,theme.css or whatever it's called you,now want to put it in uh base dot css,this is the global css for your entire,website if you want to change anything,about the look and feel of your website,this is the place that you want to do it,if you're wanting to add,uh global basically,so,um an example earlier was,someone asked me how to change the title,font,and i told them to put font size,uh you can just increase this to six for,example and then another one was they,wanted to know how to,align the text i don't know if i've,spelt a line correctly it doesn't look,like it,and then,we put center but the problem with this,was,it also centered the,center the product,titles so now every single h1 is,centered so if i go on here for example,this is now centered and he didn't want,that he wanted only the um page the blog,post centered,so,what we had to do was we had to work out,where we can put the code,to change this without it being global,so all i did,was i typed in page on this search bar,and i saw section main page,so now,this in my opinion this means,that any main page section,will have this,css,so i told them,to just put text,align,center,here instead,and,it only changed it for the main pages so,the blog posts etc etc so if i save this,now,and i refresh this if i'm not talking,rubbish hang on,let me go back to,if i go on the uh page here yep this is,left aligned but if i go on,you can already see,i need to sort this out if i go on about,us is it centered yeah it's centered,because this is classed as a page and,not as a,product page or whatever,so yeah uh that's one thing that's,completely changed so if you're looking,to change the feel or the lo

hey there internets pixelgeek here with,the udesley tutorial,on how to take your webflow ecommerce,project,and convert it into a shopify theme,using udesley's new app and chrome,extension,all right now let's go to my screen and,i'll show you how it's done,now before i started recording i went,and grabbed a,free webflow ecommerce template,and you can get this over at webflow.com,templates,now for this conversion you don't have,to start from a template you can,also get start from a blank page,uh and build it from the ground up but,for this demo,i'm starting with a template all right,so this template has some pre-made pages,like a home page uh a products page oh,burgers nice and for the,products you can see here we got some,burger waldos um bacon,okay enough enough about food let's keep,going all right,so pretend that i'm done with the design,i'm done,adding products to the webflow,e-commerce,uh now i want to start the conversion,process so first thing you need to do,is use the handy dandy udesley chrome,extension,just click on it once then choose,webflow to shopify,after that's done cool we have a config,file,let's click out of that click on the,export button at the top,now if you don't have access to this,feature,that probably means that you're on a,free webflow account plan,so what you need to do is,upgrade to a light or higher account,plan and then,you'll get access to this all right now,after that go ahead and prepare the zip,download the zip and yeah we're,done with webflow so we can go ahead and,move on to the next step,which is going to udezly and so,after you log into udesley click on go,to app at the top right,and we're going to choose shopify,there we go i'm going to drag in,that zip file that webflow gave me,for theme configuration i'm going to,choose that config file,press open and for additional assets i'm,not gonna do anything,you don't have to do it um so you can,just skip it,i'm gonna click convert and,magic it's a template and we can,download it,and so when i download it it's giving me,two things,it's giving me the zip file which has,the,theme and then an extra data file that,we'll need,later for the very last step and i'll,get to that soon,so let's go ahead and log into our,shopify account,and let's go ahead and go to customize,theme,so click on customize theme customize,theme again,and i'm going to scroll down and we need,to add a theme,upload zip file,and we're going to drag in that new zip,file,click upload,and let that run and once it's done it's,gonna,start loading it into your account so,we'll need to wait for this to,go through and there we go just added,now we just need to click on the actions,drop down and click,publish and then publish again,and there we go our theme is published,so now we need to do,one last step with this extra file,that we have so shopify has a webflow,importer,app inside of shopify and so we're going,to do that,and we're going to log into the store,paste it there we go login,choose my account,come on
