How I Created A Website For My Small Business WITHOUT Hiring A Web Designer
hey everyone welcome back to my channel,if you're new here my name is erica with,memory box candle co and i make videos,all about making and selling candles and,today's video topic is going to be me,sharing with you how i went and designed,and created my website,without having to hire a web developer,now if you are getting started with your,candle business if it's something that,you're wanting to do or something that,you are in the process of doing and you,know that eventually you are going to,want to create your own website for your,business then i want to share the,information with you on how i learned,and figured out how to create my own,website and it is so so much easier than,you think now luckily we live in a day,and age where we don't have to do,anything from scratch anymore we don't,have to learn html or hire somebody who,knows html and format every little,detail of the website from scratch,there's actually websites and platforms,that allow you to essentially do a,template of a website and just fill it,in with your information your products,your photos and it turns into your own,website the two companies that i used to,build my website was shopify and godaddy,now those are two different things,godaddy is actually just so you can get,a domain name and i highly highly,recommend that you secure a domain name,right now domains are not expensive at,all i think after everything is said and,done it's between 20 and 40 dollars for,the year or for two years sometimes they,have specials depending on which domain,name you are choosing but it's very,inexpensive for what it is and you can,secure a domain name now so if you have,your business name and you are pretty,sure that in the future you're gonna,want to have a website highly highly,recommend just get a domain name now and,there are tons of different websites,that you're able to get a domain name on,but i just have personally used godaddy,no real reason why that's just uh the,first place i went to and that's the,place that i've gotten a couple,different domain names from also if,you're not familiar with what a domain,name is it's essentially just what you,type into the address bar on the,internet so mine is,memoryboxcandleco.com that is a domain,name and then i personally went through,shopify to build my website now there,are so many different platforms that you,can go through you don't have to go,through shopify i just have a lot of,experience in the past i've been using,shopify since i was 22 years old,something like that building different,website platforms,and kind of learning the back end and,that's just what i'm most familiar with,and most familiar talking about with on,here because it's what i personally use,but you can use wix you can use,squarespace you can use big cartel there,are so many different website platforms,and they all have different prices but,shopify for their basic plan is i think,30 a month,and you're able to have your your,website up and running and sell your,products and

hey guys this is alfonso walker from aw,digital studios today we're going to,discuss the theme element of shopify,so let's get started,so this is your main page for your,shopify store and what you're going to,do is go to,online store here,and click on the theme element which,will it'll automatically take you there,actually,um and as you slide down,right here,these are the this is the theme library,right so this is where you can find your,themes now by default you're gonna have,a theme called dawn it's pretty it's the,most up-to-date,uh main theme that shopify provides so,it's it's a pretty good update compared,to the previous,theme so a lot gives you a little more,access in terms of,abilities to,customize your website as compared to,previous themes and we're going to talk,about that,specific customization in future videos,but today we just want to give you a,background as far as how the themes are,set up and how you can kind of customize,or get a specific theme that fits your,specific needs,so when you come back down here to theme,library so there are two main options,first one is your free themes right and,it's self-explanatory so you go to,explore free themes,it'll take you to a few generic themes,that have their own style flavor,but they're all free so that's nice,right it's not it's not going to mess,their pocket books here,here's an example let's just choose,sense for example so you can say,maybe you like this,figure out the features you know,optimize for large images product image,rollover home and product page videos,customer,testimonials so then you can just say,okay add a theme add to theme library,so it's going to upload that and then,here,once it's done it's done uploading,you'll be able to actually use it and it,will replace the current theme you're,using which is dawn,so that's a pretty cool feature they,make it really easy for you to update,whatever themes you want to try out so,you can go back and forth you can,just maybe just use this theme as a,test,maybe not you don't want to necessarily,make it go live but you want to actually,use it as an example,so this is going to take a minute for it,to update okay so now it's updated,so it's just like your regular theme up,here but it's not officially the the,theme that you're going to be using but,if you want this to be the your main,theme then all you have to do is go to,actions,and click publish,and it'll ask you are you sure you want,to publish sense this will replace your,current theme dawn yes so you publish it,and this is your official theme now,right and you see how it's changed now,it's since it's not dawn anymore,okay,and then dawn is put down here so they,essentially just switch spots,so let's just go back to,dawn again publish this,go back to where it was so it's really,easy just to update and change the type,of themes you want now those that was a,free theme right so maybe you want a,theme that's a little more advanced all,you have to do is go to visit the theme,store okay whi

what's up everyone welcome back to my,channel if you're new here i'm paris and,i make videos all about candle making,and the starting and managing of my,small candle business,lady simone canaco today is part two of,shopify the overview if you have not,caught part one i will link it in the,cards above and in the description box,below,but today i am going to give you a full,shopify demo,on how to set up your store and how to,get everything up and running to go live,plus give you my final review so let's,get started,all right everyone i am back here,and we are going to go ahead and get,started because there's quite,a bit to talk about so,we are going to set up a fake shopify,store,and i'm going to show you how to do that,and how to kind of get it set up,so we're going to go ahead and start a,free trial here,as you can see you can start your free,trial for 14 days,i set up a demo address,for this video so we are going to,type that in this lady see,demo business,for uh this store,and then our store name is going to be,lady,demo,business,and we are going to create our store,now when it comes to your trial um as,you see you you was prompted to enter a,store name,which will also kind of be your default,url,if you can see like up here in the,search um and you you won't be able,to necessarily change this that's that's,how your store is going to look like,that's how,ladies simone candle co that's how my,store look dot,myshopify.com but you will be able to,buy a custom domain if you want to,which is what i already had a domain,and i was able to change it later on,um but right now just to get set up you,can just enter in your store name,and should you want another,uh if you want a domain name that,actually looks like your store,um your store name then you can do that,so you're here and we're prompted to ask,a few questions,so it says what are you selling,so you have a couple options here um,and you have like i'm just playing,around i'm not selling products yet,i'm selling just not online i sell with,a different system,so um for the sake of this video,we're gonna put i'm not selling products,yet i know that's what i picked when i,first,started my store because i wasn't,selling anything yet,and so here says do you have something,to sell,yes so you have a few options here like,no i'm just playing around,i'm still brainstorming or yes i have,a product and it'll be ready to launch,in a few weeks so that's what i picked,um what's your current revenue i,obviously picked,zero i'm just getting started but as you,can see you know if you,already kind of been selling for a while,you kind of know what your revenue is,just,it kind of gives you like some ballpark,options but at the time i just picked,i don't have nothing y'all i'm just i'm,getting started,so um which industry would you be,operating in,um i picked handcrafts at the time well,because cam making candles is,handcrafted so for the sake of this,video we're going to pick handcraft but,as you can see there's so man

hey everyone welcome back to my channel,if you're new here my name is erica with,memory box candle co and i make videos,all about making and selling candles and,today's video might be on the shorter,side but i basically just wanted to,update you guys on my thoughts and,opinions since switching over from the,etsy platform so for those of you that,are not aware i actually opened up my,candle business march of 2020 by,creating an etsy shop and selling,directly through etsy and only through,etsy and then march 30th of this year,2021 i decided to actually open up my,own website and stop selling on etsy now,ever since then i have kind of gone back,and forth on whether or not i should,have stopped selling on etsy or if i,should have both of them going on at the,same time because looking back i do,realize how nice it was to have etsy,there because of the organic traffic,that could be brought to your store of,just somebody looking up candles and if,your seo is right then they will see,your listing and want to purchase your,product so i have been thinking about,possibly,reopening or you know re-adding on,products because i think my etsy shop,technically still is open it just says,that i don't have any listings because,everything is now just on my own website,but march of this year i decided to open,up my own website through the shopify,platform so i pay shopify a monthly,subscription in order to have my website,through their hosting platform and to be,honest you guys i have loved it so much,i really love having my own space on the,internet and not just having an etsy,shop although i really do love etsy and,i always kind of have like a special,place in my heart for etsy and i still,technically sell on etsy because i have,my digital download shop so if you guys,are not aware i sell,digital so they're digital templates so,there's nothing physical that you're,getting but a lot of these things can be,customized to your brand so i have,warning labels i have thank you cards,and more recently i've introduced candle,label designs so if you guys are,interested in anything like that i will,have everything linked in the,description box below but i still love,etsy i have no problems with it and,that's also why i've been considering in,my head and in my heart on whether or,not i should open it up again i guess i,was just worried that i would have to,deal with a lot of struggles on,trying to figure out what i have on my,website and then what i have on my etsy,shop but i've since learned that there,are i believe there's a shopify app that,allows you to connect the two if not,there's probably other platforms that,allow you to connect the two together so,that it's kind of like a seamless,operation and everything is updating,live on each platform but i seriously,had so much fun when i was creating my,website and i'm still constantly,adjusting things and trying to figure,things out and you know updating photos,and trying to figure out how to how to,lay lay out certain things

hey guys it's alfonso walker again from,aw digital studios,today we're going to continue talking,about our themes with a focus on how to,create a logo for your store,so let's get started,now creating a logo can go in different,ways,some people decide that they have,no experience with it and they don't,want to deal with it at all so they,might decide to go with a platform that,i'm sure you've heard of called fiber,now this is a platform where you can,find thousands of developers designers,etc pretty much anything you need,and if you needed a logo to be made all,you have to do is go to the site,type in logo,go to search,and you'd see there's 283 000,plus services available for logo,development and it ranges 25,50 75 whatever you're looking for,so it's pretty straightforward i've used,it i actually have an account on here,so that's one option you could do you,could probably have your logo done in a,few days,so that's one option,now,if you want to be a little more,personalized and you won't think you can,create your own logo,i recommend another site called canva,so they have two options you can have a,paid,plan or a free plan,from my experience i can get everything,i need done for free so but if you want,to do the play plan to get the extra,perks that's fine too,but this is what you'd have to do so,this is i already have an account set up,with them but once you set up your,account you're to go to the corner right,here called create a design,so click that and if you go down here,it'll show logo,right,and then it'll take you to,options as far as how to make a logo and,it's pretty straightforward you can just,say you can type in let's say we want to,make a logo for a candle company,all right,and these are the options so you can,just drag and drop these different,options change them however you'd like,so let's let's,use one as an example,okay so i'm going to take this example,right here,drag and drop it's kind of like shopify,in some ways,but let's say we want to customize,something maybe we want to take this,verbage out so we can just,delete this,delete this,and then go to text,so click your heading add a heading,and then add a subheading,and let's bring these bad boys down a,little bit,okay,they make it really easy they kind of,they help you center everything,for example your header,you see those little lines tell you okay,this is a good position,right and then you can change this from,let's say,local,candles,okay and then we can say below it,fresh,or soy ingredients,all right,and,from there all you have to do is click,share,when you click share go to download,click download again,and this is where i'm gonna i'm gonna,put it in this file for me,just say logo,add that,so now you've saved,your logo,now once you've saved your logo we can,go back to our store,and go to customize,now go to header because this is where,the logo is the logo is going to be put,where it says candle maker expert so we,go to header,select an image,we're going to upload right so w

hey guys christian here and today we're,going to go over a fairly new update,where you can add custom fields to your,products and of course i'm going to show,you some examples at the end let's get,started,custom fields or meta fields enable you,to customize the functionality and,appearance of your shopify store by,letting you save specialized information,that isn't usually captured by the,shopify admin you can use metafields for,internal tracking or to display,specialized information on your online,store in a variety of ways for example a,candle seller might want to display a,burn time for candles on their product,pages,while a grocery store may want to,display a product expiration date for,canned goods in our example we're,actually going to add,model information recitan information in,a collapsible menu to the product page,so you can actually see that dynamic,data on a per product basis which you,can do before all right and then for,those of you who don't know exactly what,i'm talking about i'm going to show you,here in our totally 90s kit website so,i'm going to click on the little eyeball,here i'm going to open up,and find one of our products i'm gonna,go to the fresh prince of bel air,and click on the yellow shirt,and when we talk about custom fields if,you think about all these right here so,the fresh prince design d this is,technically a field this is the title of,that product right uh this is another,field this will be the pricing,and so forth so each of these things,right here are technically fields now,what you couldn't do before was add,custom ones and that's what we're going,to show you how to do today there's two,ways to access the actual meta fields i,keep saying custom fields but custom,fields and meta fields are the same,thing,but if we go here to settings,and you'll see that now we have a meta,fields option,it's going to be pretty fairly new so,as you can see some of the,options here are still coming soon so,there will be some videos in the future,that we'll be talking about meta fields,and how to use them for collections,customers and orders but for now we have,products and variants as the only,options that we can add extra midi,fields so we're gonna go to products,and then in here we can add a new,definition,and then in here we can do,let's see product,um,sizing,in the description you can add a,description if you like uh this would be,for again people who are inputting this,information,you they might need an extra description,for it so let's put,and then you have the option to select,the content type um,you have a lot of different things in,here as color date and time file json,files,measurements number rating reference,text true or false and urls depending on,what you pick based on these content,type it's going to be the exact content,so if you pick url for example you will,have to type in a full url for that,custom,field to actually work so in this in,this instance we're just going to do,product sizing so it's going to be,gene

what's up everyone welcome back to my,channel if you're new here i'm paris,and i make videos all about candle,making and the starting and managing of,my small candle business,lady simone candyco today's video i am,going to show you how i process,pack and my shopify orders i felt,like this would be a good ending to my,shopify series as many of you had,questions,on how i do this in real time after,seeing the demo,and the overview so today i hope to,answer those questions so let's just get,started,all right everyone if you remember from,my two,shopify overviews you probably recognize,the screen,so we are on the home screen and,this is kind of showing you the back end,of the store,and what's been going on for the day so,so far today you just kind of see,i've so far had one sale and this is how,many people,have kind of browsed through my store so,far since this morning,and this is somebody bought something,this morning that's how much,their total cost so but today we are,going to,process a couple orders um i think i'll,probably walk through,maybe two in detail and then i'll,probably,time lapse the rest of the video just,for the sake of time,so i want to go over here and show you,how i go ahead and process my orders,and i will have customers information,kind of blurred out,for the sake of privacy but here is a,list of,the orders that i have so far that i,need to go ahead and process through,the first order that i need to go ahead,and process so we want to go ahead and,i like to go ahead and create my,shipping label i can go ahead and keep,the shipping date as today because,at noon i will be meeting the mail lady,who does,our mail in our neighborhood and go,ahead and give her these packages,before she leaves the neighborhood so i,can keep the shipping,as today i make sure this is checked,because i want the customer to be able,to get their shipping details,and everything,i also like to make sure the right,package is checked,and after looking through her order,right here i can go ahead and see she,has two candles,which is totally fine i know this fits,in my,brown boxes that i use so that's perfect,i see that she picked priority mail,shipping so when i ship out the label,this is what will come up for her,because it's two candles so again when,you go through your store and you add,your packaging,you add the weight of your products and,all of that stuff it will go ahead and,calculate in real time what usps would,have charged me anyway,so you want to go ahead and buy one,shipping label,and so it's getting it purchased and,when you purchase a shipping label it,just,adds to your shopify account so i have,the basic plan,and when it my basic plan is 29.99 a,month,and so every time i buy a new shipping,label,it just adds to that 29. so,when customers pay for shipping i move,that shipping amount,when i get my payout i move that,shipping amount over to my savings,account,so that way at the end of the month when,it comes time to pay my shopify,shopify bill the 29.99

what's up everyone welcome back to my,channel if you're new here on parents,and I make videos all about candle,making and the starting and managing of,my small candle business ladies to,volcanic oh today's video is actually,very highly requested we are going to,talk about Shopify the e-commerce,platform and what that may look like for,your small candle business I am going to,give you a high-level overview on what,Shopify is kind of give you a brief,walkthrough and then we'll talk about,some pros and cons you all know video I,have my laptop here with my talking,point so let's just get started,when it comes to small entrepreneurs,ecommerce entrepreneurs more,specifically such as myself and many of,you out there,Shopify can be actually one of the,better options for us and I say one of,because there are several platforms out,there that are great for small,businesses Shopify is great for a small,business and actually any type of,business model that you kind of want to,operate it's great for supporting that I,would say for Shopify if you're like,myself who do you do not have a vast,knowledge of web coding and web,development and don't really understand,all what it takes to maintain a site and,maintain hosting I would say Shopify,it's great for small business owners who,kind of want to transfer that worry to,the support with Shopify is great for,having so we are going to get into all,of that today I am going to first start,with a brief walkthrough of Shopify show,you some snapshots of different pages,that I thought would be helpful too for,this,this will serve kind of as a part one,this is a highly requested video as I,stated so this will be a part one kind,of an intro into Shopify and then next,week I'll do a part two and actually,kind of give you a demo on how to set up,your Shopify store and give you my final,final reviews of what I think about,Shopify so let's get into it,so here we are at the home screen here,it kind of gives you an overview of,what's going on with their business for,today so you will get to see like,today's sales today's visitors like how,many visitors you had how many online,sessions meaning like how many people,actually scroll through and browse your,site you get the view where you send,activity and then you also can get an,overview of any Shopify announcements,for your store here is the order page,where you manage track and view orders,that have been made and/or drafted for,customers who have maybe placed orders,like over the phone I get some older,customers who are not as tech savvy so,sometimes they'll like call me or text,me or hit me up through Facebook but I,don't really understand navigating the,site necessarily and I'll kind of take,their order like over the phone or,through whatever that makes them feel,comfortable and I can actually create an,order from there so here is the products,page and this is where you begin adding,your products after you're up and,started with Shopify and you will manage,your inventory here as
