let's be honest your store design,matters and if you have a really ugly,site people are just going to leave and,they're not going to purchase from you,so in this video i'm going to show you,exactly how to customize,your shopify store design,as soon as someone comes to your site,they only have about seven,seconds before they decide if they want,to look longer on your site or,leave so those seven seconds really,matter and design,matters when it comes to that you want,to make sure that your site is,eye-catching,and it really speaks to your ideal,customer so,how do you do this you really need to,pick out your shopify,theme and make sure that it works based,on what kind of,imagery you have if you have a lot of,really great big images,then pick a theme that's going to,highlight those but if you don't have a,lot of great product shots,then you want to make sure that you pick,a theme that's not going to be heavily,reliant on that,once you've chosen your shopify theme,then it's time to,customize it and this is where it's,important to create different assets,choose your fonts and colors,to make sure that it's appealing for,your ideal customer,so this is super important but a lot of,times people kind of overlook the design,step so i'm going to show you really,quickly how to,actually customize your design in the,back end of shopify for both your home,page,collection page and product page so to,get here you're going to click on,online store and then you'll see themes,there from the list,so now that we are on the themes page,you can see your live theme here,this is what your customers are actually,seeing whenever they come to your site,as well as your online store speed we've,done another video on how to speed up,your site so i will,link that in the description below and,in the info cards above as well,and you can also see the theme library,so you can,upload your theme if you've purchased it,somewhere else or you can explore the,different,theme options available so for example,if you click on,explore free themes you'll actually see,a pop-up of all of the different free,themes that are available here,the one problem with this is if you,click into it you can't really see,how the site overall looks as well as,how it looks on mobile you can just kind,of see the different styling aspects,so what i do recommend that you do is,actually visit the theme,store so if we just click on this here,you can see,the full theme store and this is both,free,and paid themes so what i like to do,whenever i'm trying to decide on a theme,for a shopify store,is i'll actually go to all themes up,here at the top,and then you can see the sidebar here of,sorting options so you can actually sort,through,and you can see you know based on you,just want to see,themes that are just for single products,so if you click on that,then it shows you just that product or,specifications on the right hand side so,you can better narrow down what kind of,theme that it is that you are looking,for,so if we u

hey everyone so today we're going to,look at how you can open edit and upload,the free canva templates that came with,your theme please note that I will be,using this video for all of my templates,so the installation guide and the canva,templates in the video may not be the,same one that came with your purchase,however the instructions are going to be,exactly the same,so the first thing you're going to do is,download the PDF file that came with,your purchase on Etsy you can find this,if you go to your purchases under your,Etsy account and click download now it's,a little black button should be right,next to it if you have any problems,finding it just let me know or contact,etsy's customer service,um once it's downloaded open it up and,scroll down until you see the canva,Links Page which I think is Page four,right,um and you know you can basically click,all of these and they'll add to your,account,um but just for this video I'm going to,click on the first one,it's going to open up canva.com and,you're going to want to do use template,so here's the first template you can,pretty much change anything you'd like,whether that's the colors the fonts the,text the images even the shapes that the,images are in and I'm going to show you,how that's done uh let's do the text,first so and so the full collection,maybe we do something like I don't know,uh the Earth collection and you can make,this a little bigger,and then another thing you can do is you,can kind of highlight all of these click,position and then hit Center and it's,going to Center everything together if,they're not perfectly centered it does,have,um,kind of Auto Alignment tools that you,can use,now let's do the colors the background,I'm going to use a different themes,background for,this Let's do let's do this one and that,doesn't look so great so we're going to,change everything else with it,do that that,maybe we do like the dark green for this,yeah oh no I kind of like white better,through dark green and dark green and,I've pretty much made,it so that you can change the colors of,everything on all the templates if you,have any issues again reach out to me,but everything should be good to go,all right so next we're gonna do the,picture,um you can either upload your own,picture by going to uploads and,literally uploading anything uh which if,you have your own photos I highly,suggest you do that because you know,having your own photos versus,um stock photos is always going to feel,more personal uh to your customers,now let's go to elements,and you can scroll down they have the,photo section I'm just going to use a,default photo just for the example,so pretty much you're going to click on,the photo and drag it over and it goes,right in the box right in the frame I,should say if you do want to look for,other frames like this you can go the,elements and search frame sometimes it,has it there and here's frames you click,see all and these are all anything you,see with like the cloud and the hilly,backg

hi i'm jonah with sweet honeycode and,today we're going to dive into,how to code a custom block for our,shopify theme so let's get started first,the suggestion for this theme came from,a comment so i do read your comments,down down below,so let's dive into this what are custom,blocks well custom blocks essentially,add additional blocks we may want to use,to,within our theme so what i did here is,in a previous video i already done a,clone of the dawn theme which is the,proper way of handling this to create,our own little theme,and so i've gone to templates,and,then,to product.json which i have open here,perfect so over in this area we want,what we want to find is where the,sections begin,and where the blocks section is defined,since this is a json file it uses the,json side text to,for formatting and we want to follow,those rules so what we want to do is i'm,going to scroll down here to where the,last block is defined that way i have a,mental marker for,where i'm going to be defining mine so,i'm just going to add a comma here and,start typing my definition which will be,custom,dash block of course you can come up,with your own name but make sure it's,one that you will remember and then we,do curly brackets and say what type of,it is,so this type is not saying if it's a,text,block or things like that this is more,of a type in terms of,what type of block we will be looking,for,in our code,later on so i'm just going to call it,custom block,just again for example's sake so there,we go we can save that so now that we,started the definition or at least told,our theme that we are going to have this,block we now need to write the logic,code to help this block be discovered,and to render any code we need to to our,theme and for today i'm keeping it very,basic but you could definitely explore,other ways go here for example i can go,down to block order and say what order,this appears for example so i can do a,comma,custom block that way,it is appearing in my selection of,options in a certain way perfect so now,we're going to go to,sections and then main dash product dot,liquid this,file already has a lot of liquid code it,can get be really hard to find at first,but what you're looking for,is no pun intended this for loop so what,a for loop does is it will go through a,certain loop depending on the number of,items it finds based off of what you,tell it so in this example we have a for,loop that says for block that's our,variable there and sections dot block we,will now,tell it what to do with the case,selector of block.type now we can say,what types of blocks are we rendering,code for so this way we're filtering,through the for loop a little bit better,and so the type we are looking for is,the type we defined here,in this spot,so now that we know that i'm going to,tell it,following the same,code format here i'm going to do curly,brackets percentage the dashes and put a,space here,and we're going to do when,single quote,custom,dash block so i am telling it whe

hey everybody Tania's shooting star SVG,back in today I am going to talk about,how to install themes in your Shopify,store that are not directly from Shopify,so this is strictly regarding the theme,forest themes from,envato I'm gonna include a link in this,video that will direct you to the,Shopify themes and templates and here,you can see this is the Waukee theme,this is what I currently use on my,website and there is a lot of different,themes here that are useful for what,you're trying to do on your Shopify,stores so just take a quick look of,those I will be doing a video slash a,blogpost shortly now that I'm back up,and running after being on night shift,in this crazy pandemic we have going on,on some of the better themes for Shopify,based off of what you're trying to do so,anyways what you're gonna want to do is,you're gonna find the theme that you,want right and you're just going to go,ahead and purchase it hmm after you,purchase your theme what will happen is,is that theme force will send you a,confirmation email okay and you can see,I purchased this the beginning of this,year you'll be able to open up your,account and go to my downloads and when,you go to your account back page you,will download the files now here you can,get all the files and documentation,including your license certificate in,your purchase code this is important,because when you go to load your new,theme into Shopify you're gonna have to,enter this information and okay so you,want to make sure that you have that,okay so when you download all of your,files and documentation is going to be,in a zip format so you're gonna have to,extract that right so this is what it,will look like it will have any updates,the user manual and your installation,zip file and it was important that this,stays as is it now if you're unfamiliar,with how to zip in onto,files I do have a video on my youtube,channel for that you can just go ahead,and search for it and I'll walk you,through how to do that right so once you,get everything into a folder then you,will see these zip files here and just,make sure you either keep that folder,open or you know where you're navigating,to because that will be important for,the next step when you go to your,dashboard on Shopify basically this is,what you'll see when you log in you're,gonna want to click on online store and,you're going to click on themes now you,can see here that I already have this,installed it's pretty straightforward,process okay you're gonna do this like,you would do any other theme you're just,gonna click on upload theme and choose,your file I think you can also drag it,over so we'll go ahead and try to do,that um since I do have it open so you,can actually note that did not work so,you can go to choose file I know mine,went into here and then you click on,your zip file and click open now what,that's gonna do is it'll show the dots,if you click on upload file and it's,gonna start working hopefully this does,not override anything for me beca

hey everyone in this video we're going,to talk about shopify cli for themes,shopify cli stands for shopify command,line interface and is the latest,alternative to shopify theme kit,previously shopify cli was a tool that,helped users create and deploy shopify,apps but since the online store 2.0,announcements in june 2021 shopify have,extended the shopify cli to provide new,functions for theme development,including the ability to serve themes,locally,so in this video let's talk about how,the shopify cli works and how to include,it into your theme development workflow,before we get started talking about how,to use the shopify cli for theme,development i want to provide some,context here and talk about where this,tool fits in compared to the other,previous tools for developing shopify,themes,when i first started shopify theme,development back in 2019 there were two,tools available slate and theme kit,i believe it was theme kit that came,first but at shopify unite 2017 shopify,announced something called slate a new,build tool for shopify themes intended,to provide a more developer friendly,scaffold for building themes,slate did have some good points such as,the ability to split up scss into,multiple modular files and update css,changes locally but over time shopify,decided not to maintain the project and,eventually announced that they were,officially ending support for slate in,january 2020. therefore slate is not a,tool i recommend to anyone anymore in my,opinion the only reason to use slate is,if you have to i.e you have an existing,slate project that you're unable to or,unwilling to migrate that left us with,themekit a simple tool for uploading and,downloading theme files from your,shopify store making it possible to work,on themes locally,and now the latest option which is to,use the shopify cli for theme,development,chances are if you're watching this,video close to the release date you,might be using shopify themekit as,mentioned shopify themekit is a simple,tool for uploading and downloading theme,code from themes already hosted on your,shopify store we can do a one-time,download from themekit or a one-time,upload from themekit or we can run the,command theme watch and allow themekit,to detect and upload changes to the,theme as it exists on the shopify store,as soon as they happen for a full,tutorial on shopify themekit check out,the lesson in my skillshare class,shopify theme development how to build,and customize your own online store the,shopify cli by comparison is a bit,different with shopify cli you first,connect the tool to your online store by,running shopify login and from that,point you can begin to serve the theme,code you have on your computer locally,running shopify theme serve the cli will,take your theme code and generate a,development theme this development theme,will come with a theme id and a theme,editor but it won't exist in your,shopify store's theme library and it,will disappear after you run shopify,logout,running these s
