hi everyone thanks for joining us on our,channel today we are going to take a,look at the meta fields functionality,that can be connected throughout the,theme editor you can apply meta fields,to display various content in the,product information section on product,pages or to add custom filters with the,minion theme you can also display the,batch featured for products by using,meta fields,to create a meta field we need to add a,meta file definition in shopify admin,settings meta fields here you can press,the learn more button to get more,information about meta fields from the,initial documentation we need to choose,the part of the store for which a meta,field will be created in our case it,will be products then press add,definition let's start with creating a,custom filter here you can see fields,that should be edited to create a meta,field definition for the name type any,title that will be displayed for the,filter block on collection pages for,example shop by pad edit the namespace,and key field with the unique namespace,that helps you to avoid the conflict,with the same key name you added for,other meta fields for our example we add,my underscore filters dot shop by path,the description field is optional here,you can paste a definition that will be,displayed only in your shopify admin,we'll paste the information filters for,sidebar next we need to choose the,content type for the meta fields there,are numerous content types that you can,choose from the list use single line or,multi-line text to display text or list,of values we'll use the single line text,list of values to add several filter,items for a product at a time to,organize and automatically display the,created meta fields on pages in your,shopify admin leave the meta field,definition pinned,and save settings in the products we'll,also create another meta field,definition for the featured batch type,featured batch in the name field and add,the namespace and key,softwarelead.featured underscore badge,then choose the content type single line,text 1 value and save changes,to assign the created meta fields to,each product go to the products in your,shopify admin,here we can choose the first product and,add values to meta fields we'll type,featured in the batch field,and use cat value for the shop by pad,in the same way we add values to the,desired products,for the next two products we want to add,two values for example dog papi,and cat kitten,in order to display filters in the,storefront we need to add them to the,navigation go to online store navigation,collection and search filters press add,filters and choose the created one,then save changes,now let's check how everything works in,the preview,we'll go to a collection page and here's,the filter block with all the filter,items we've added for products in,shopify admin,we'll activate a few filter items and,here are sorting results on the page,you may also notice the featured batch,isn't displayed for the required product,so we need to go

4. How to set up the Header @ Minion Shopify theme

hi everyone today i'm going to show you,how to build the header in your store,head is the section at the very top of a,page that displays the navigation menu,brand logo and some other attributes,like search bar account card icon to,help your customers easily use and,explore your store the same header,layout is used on all pages of a store,so it's important to make it organized,for displaying meaningful and,eye-catching information or useful links,throughout the store with the minion,theme you can build an attractive and,informative header by using its built-in,options so let's set this up together,before you start customizing your header,you are going to want to create a menu,this can be done in the back end press,the back button in the top left hand,corner to go to your shopify admin then,press online store navigation and hit,add menu here you can create main and,secondary menus if you are going to use,too many lines for your store when,creating a menu you can also nest some,menu items now let's go back to the,theme editor and press the header,section here you can choose one or three,menu types of the desktop that meets,your needs and concept of what your,header should look like however,regardless of the header type the theme,will display a menu in the pop-up on,mobile,so let's take a look at each header type,that can be used for a desktop and start,with a classic menu that is already set,up here once you've decided which type,to use you can select a menu or menus,for your header to choose a main menu,press select menu and find the one you,need by the way here you can also press,the create menu button that will,redirect you to the navigation menu in,your shopify admin we'll skip it for now,so if you need to add another menu line,to the header you can choose it in the,secondary menu,you see here it is,let's also view how the second type,looks like which is the tiles menu if,you scroll down all the way to the,bottom you can find additional settings,for the menu,here you can set up the number of menu,items up to 10 to display in the row,and decide the size of the icons by,using a second slider now you can see,how the icon size changes when using the,minimum and maximum values,the color picking determines what,background color the menu items have and,if you need to change the color of the,item on hallway you can paste the hex,code for the active column ok let's go,back to the drop down list of the menu,types and choose the last one vertical,menu this is what it can look like in,your store in case you might want to,choose a color for the vertical menu,button scroll down to the very bottom,and choose a color either by using a,paint palette or pasting the color code,in the corresponding field,here you can also decide the state of,the vertical menu to display it as,closed or maybe to spread it only on a,section or two sections,once you are done with all the menu,settings you can continue by playing,around with the layout that works the,best for your hea

what is up guys in this video i'm going,to show you some really useful chrome,extensions that will either save you a,lot of time or just make your life a,whole lot easier when working on a,shopify store i'm going to start with,the most simple extensions and then,progress to the more advanced and,technical ones so let's begin the first,one i want to show you is called,colorzilla this is simply a color picker,nothing crazy about it you just click,the color picker you can have a look at,your competitor websites or just other,websites for design inspiration and see,what color they are using,just click anywhere to copy that color,code to the clipboard but it's not just,useful for other websites it's useful,for your own site as well because i know,for a fact that there are many,situations in which you're not sure if a,color looks correct doesn't look exactly,the same as a color that i set elsewhere,on the page and that's because it's just,an illusion you can't really trust your,eyes all the time in web design so you,need a color picker now another thing i,like to use a color picker for is when,you're designing a website and you just,need a basic color scheme to start with,you can actually grab the color from the,product images so here we have the blue,product packaging and i can click,anywhere on this,packaging and as you can see it's kind,of a gradient it's giving me different,shades of blue and all of these shades,of blue are going to work really great,with these product images so that's a,quick design life hack for you grab your,color scheme from your actual product,images okay so the next tool that i want,to show you is called what font,and i use this for pretty much the same,reasons as the color picker tool it's,mostly to,look at design inspiration so first of,all when you look at another website,that you like and you want to see what,font they're using you can click the,what fun icon and then whatever you,hover over it'll tell you what font that,is and when you click again you will see,more information about that font like if,it's normal or italic the font weight,like bold or regular which would be 400,and then the size the line height and,the color as well but it's not only for,getting design inspiration it's also for,working on your own site so sometimes,you will have set the typography across,your site but something doesn't look,right or something's too small too big,you're not sure if headings are the same,sizes,right so you can also use this on your,own site to check for example that my h1,is 40 pixels i will know that i will,know that my regular paragraph is 16,pixels and that small text like sold out,is 12 pixels right and that just might,help me a little bit during the theme,customization process when you're,setting up a new site okay so this is,going to be the last one that isn't like,specifically a shopify focused chrome,extension,but i think that this is really,important and underrated this extension,is grammarly you might be already u

ShowTime 7.0 - Using the "Buy With" Upsell Features

hi everyone this is tim from,milehighthemes.com,and in this video i'm just going to show,you how to use the new buy it with,upsell features that we've added as part,of showtime version 7.0,so we have this product open in one of,our demo stores,and you can see there's this area that,shows up down here above the cart button,frequently bought together where the,customer can,select these check boxes and add these,additional products to the cart at the,same time as the,original product,so we think this is a pretty cool,feature i don't believe any other theme,offers this right now you can always use,an app to do this but that's going to be,an extra expense so we think this is a,nice value added feature and,i'm just going to show you how to set it,up now,so first of all let's just try it out,see how it works we can just click these,check boxes,and this number you see appears above,the cart button to let you know how many,products you're adding,so we are adding the the original,product plus these other two i'm going,to click add to cart,and you can see that all three of these,products have been added to the cart,and there they are in the cart itself,so pretty cool feature let's see how we,set that up,so over here in one of my demo stores,dev stores,we have a fresh version of the theme,installed i'm going to go to my products,and i'm just going to select a product,that i want to add some upsell products,to,so i'll select this blue bowl with,handle,and these upsell products are created,using meta fields and metafields are,just custom fields that shopify supports,where you can store,data,so the first thing that we have to do is,actually create the meta fields for this,particular function,so meta fields are located in settings,and then we're going to go to meta,fields,and we're going to go to products,so we have no meta fields created right,now i'm going to click add definition,so i'm just going to give this the name,buy with,product,and the name doesn't really matter but,this namespace and key does,so i'm going to change this custom,that's added automatically and put by,underscore,with,now this is important you have to use,this particular,prefix,in order for this function to work,you can put a description in here if you,want it's not required this is only for,your,your own benefit,so i'm just going to leave that blank,for now and then i'm going to select,content type,and i'm going to choose,product,save,so now we've created a buy with product,meta field,this functionality also supports the,ability to choose a single variant of a,product to,upsell so i'm going to go ahead and,create a definition for that too,you may not need this if your products,don't have any options,that the customer must select like size,or color then you don't need to do this,but if you want to upsell a specific,variant on a product page then you'll,have to do this,so i'm going to call this one buy with,variant,and then again i've got to change this,this will still be by,underscore with
