foreign,what's up YouTube Welcome Back to,another edition of coding with Robbie my,name is Robbie and in this video we're,going to be covering Shopify meta Fields,so uh before we get started make sure to,like subscribe leave a comment let me,know you're there and uh yeah you're,probably wondering Robbie what's a meta,field well it is basically a place to,store additional data in Shopify so you,can add a meta field to products,collections your shop pretty much any,object in Shopify you can add a meta,fuel to and it's a little bit of a,hidden feature because if you're in your,admin dashboard there is no way to add a,meta field through this dashboard it can,only be done through the API so you have,to depend on an app to do this but,there's some really good apps out there,and it's uh not difficult at all and uh,yeah so what is this good for let me,kind of paint a scenario for you so say,we have a product page like this and,down here we have a specifications area,and really if you go to the product um,editor page,really the only place you get the store,data,sorry it's just taking a second to load,extremely long time to load that's weird,I just kind of ruined my whole segment,come on,what the Shopify,all right there we go they're really the,only place you get to uh store data is,the title description and media fields,and then there's some price and stuff,but you know there's really no place to,add specification data so you're,probably thinking oh we got settings why,don't you just use,um section settings so I kind of set,that up to show you the issue with that,so let's say we're on products I got my,default product and I got settings for,it right here but this is just for the,default product so say I have 20,products for every single one I'm gonna,have to uh create a new template and,let's call this one a leather jacket,and let's say hey the leather jacket,maybe it's you know,54 and 32 and we save it and that's,going to create an additional template,file on our theme and then we have to go,Within,products and we have to find the leather,jacket or really any product we want to,use it on,Shopify is really slow today and then I,gotta go hey I don't want to use the,default template I want to use that new,one I created and this is just going to,create a ton of bloat within your theme,you're going to end up with hundreds of,template files and it's just really a,bad way to do it so before we go any,further I'm just going to delete that,new template we created so let's go to,online store and just go to your theme,and go to edit code,and then find the newly created uh,product template mine's right here I'm,just going to trash it,there we go so in order to add meta,fields to your store you're going to,have to download an app if you just,search for meta fields on the App Store,there's a bunch of different ones and by,far the best app is meta Fields Guru so,I'd highly recommend this app you just,come here and add app and once you do,add it to your store you get to

if you run a wholesale shopify store,then you might want to sell in bulk,quantities or in other words you don't,want people to be able to buy just one,item,so in this video i'm going to be showing,you two things the first is how to set a,minimum order quantity,so for example let's refresh this page,and as you can see it starts from six,and i cannot go lower than six but i can,go higher than six one by one and the,second thing that i'm going to show you,is how to set a box quantity so for,example if i'm selling boxes of this,cheese and there's six of these cheeses,in one box,then i want people to be buying in,multiples of six right so 6 12 18 24 you,get the idea right multiples of 6 so,that's kind of what i call a box,quantity and i'm going to show you how,to set that up as well there is going to,be a little bit of coding involved but i,would say it's like easy level coding,and also just to note that i am using,dawn theme this demonstration will be,using the dawn theme code so if you're,also using dawn theme this is going to,be very easy for you if you're using a,different theme then it might be a,little bit more difficult because you,need to find where the code is for this,quantity field but once you find that,the process will be pretty much the same,okay so we're going to be using,metafields so that you can set the,minimum quantity or the box quantity,per product,and if you're not very familiar with the,meta fields then i suggest checking out,my channel and i've already made a video,explaining many fields but it's going to,look a bit like this so we're on the,product page and when you scroll down to,the bottom you can see these meta fields,that you can fill out so for this,product the minimum quantity is six now,you can ignore that there's two of them,you're going to be doing one of these,you're either going to have a minimum,quantity or a box quantity i think,so i'll show you quickly how to set up,the meta field you're going to go to,settings,and then you're going to go to meta,fields,into products and then you're going to,define a meta field or create a new meta,field,name it something like minimum quantity,okay,um or box quantity depending on which,one of these you want to do,now namespace and key namespace i'm,going to make it wholesale,this isn't really important it's just,for your own organization,so mine's called wholesale dot minimum,quantity,and then,we're going to select the content type,of number this is always going to be a,number,and that's all you need to do just save,that i won't save it because i've,already done it but when you go,when you save and when you go back to,your product page you will now see the,matter field appear here i recommend,using just one product that you're going,to test on while we build this code and,so for that one product just fill out a,number like six and save that product,and we're going to move on to the coding,part of this tutorial we're going to be,changing the code of this quantity field,so to have

welcome back graduates so today i'm,going to show you how to use and set up,your quantity breaks now this is,specifically displayed on the product,page just like this and it basically,allows,to buy in bulk and save for a discount,so i'm going to show you how to set it,up and install,and so i'm going to show you the,functionality so let's say i want to,purchase instead there's nothing in my,i want to buy five for this price off,for five percent and it'll be this price,so what i would do is add to cart but,notice how it says,no discounts will be applied during,checkout so this will reflect ad,checkout it won't display on it won't,reflect on the card however but let's,just add this to cart and now i have,five and it says at the original price,but remember it's only at checkout it's,displayed let's just view checkout and,it's 64.95,now when i view checkout,it should come up with the same price,five percent off,and then also 61.71 which is,and that's what you want to see,so let's get right into it three two one,here we go,and what you're going to want to do is,go into,your theme i don't have it on this theme,because if i go and preview this theme,and i go and click on studio brew,you'll see on my,product page i only have this but i,don't have the,quantity break so we can apply it to,this theme,so as always you are going to get a,html file right over here and then a,rtf file to open up,so what i want to do first is open up my,html,and it's going to look like this so,what's going to first tell me to do is,add the section eg quantity break,so that's what i'll do,i'm going to go into here edit code,and i am going to go and,close out of those and add a new section,and i'm going to call it eg,20,breaks,as a section,and then what i want to do is i want to,open up this file right here for the,section,it's going to give me this text i'm just,going to copy and paste,copy and paste,the next thing it has me do is you know,go into my footer in the theme.liquid so,i'm going to close out of this i'm going,to go into my theme.liquid at the layout,and you can control,control f for find and i'm going to the,footer,now i'm going to just go and add the,string eg quantity breaks into,underneath my footer so i have a lot of,these already but i'm just going to add,them,right like that and i'm going to click,save,now that's basically it the hard part's,over,so what i'm going to want to do is now,add the tag,quantity break to the products that i,want this feature on,so i believe that the studio brew was,already tagged um and to make sure,you're just gonna go into,your,products here and i'm gonna start adding,them so,studio cold brew or studio brew actually,go down sometimes uh shopify has a,scroll bug so you just gotta refresh a,little bit and you'll notice that the,tag is now quantity break so i'm just,copying and pasting that,and then i can add it to another one as,well,if i want to work on that so cold brew,bottle,so once this loads i'm just going to add,this tag just to k
