all right guys so in this video i'm,going to be showing you how you can go,ahead and,customize your debut theme within,shopify so debut theme,is the theme that all shopify stores,start out with,by default when you go ahead and start a,shopify store and if you haven't already,opened your shopify store yet you can,start your 14 day free trial by clicking,the first link in the description,so i figured i'd make this video because,debut theme,is one of the most commonly used themes,because it's the one that all stores,start out with and the view theme,actually looks,really good so right here we can see,that this is what debut theme looks like,when it's first installed with,absolutely nothing filled out,so we can see that we have where our,logo should be,we have a big header right here with,some text we have an image here,we have three images with text below,here we have,a uh empty collection and we have,another,um header type image right here another,wallpaper image,we have some testimonials and we have,three images down here,and then we have the footer so,right now we have a nice little template,but it's blank,so if you're looking to go ahead and,fill out,your um store using debut theme,the first thing you're going to want to,make sure you have is,a few key things so i'm going to bring,up a notepad and just make sure,because before you go ahead and start,the design process you're going to need,a couple things so the first one is,going to be a logo,so i assume you already have a logo at,this point if you're ready to start your,store design but if not,then make sure you get a logo first,because everything else is going to be,based around the logo,and then we're going to have a color,scheme selected,and normally this color scheme is going,to,be derived from colors from your logo,and typically,you're going to use one to two colors,to base your entire store around and,like i said these colors will be derived,from the logo and the next thing we're,going to need,is a couple wallpaper photos,so we can see we're going to need some,photos to go ahead and put back here in,this header,we need some photos to put back here and,this header as well,so if you have any large photos related,to your business,go ahead and upload them to your,computer or,put them all in one folder so we can go,ahead and,use them as backgrounds here and if you,don't you can use,different sites such as pixabay,to find free stock images that you can,go ahead and use,so let's just type in something like,fishing,so if you had a store related to fishing,you could go ahead and just,look for different stock photos here,or maybe you have something related to,yoga,or fitness you can type in a lot,of different niches depending on what,your store is based around,and you can use some of these wallpapers,to go ahead and put back here,now obviously i do think it's better if,you have your own,custom photos but uh you know not,everyone's gonna have that starting out,so if you don't you can go ahead and us

hi everyone i'm tulin and i'm a product,manager at shopify,with chris and martin i'm going to walk,you through the new theme app extensions,in online store 2.0,we'll start with what a theme app,extension is then talk about how to,build one,using different app blocks and finally,we'll cover how to migrate your app to,use theme app extensions,after this presentation we'll hold the q,a over discord,let's get started,as you all probably already know,currently there's no structured,end-to-end solution for apps to easily,integrate with themes,developers need to build integration,logic for every theme,and host assets themselves which makes,it challenging to build features that,work,fast and consistently across all themes,it is also a painful experience for,merchants to enable or disable apps in,their storefront,the product reviews app is currently,asking merchants to copy paste code to,their theme files,merchants will need to figure out where,to add this code,as it can change depending on the theme,which can be intimidating for,non-technical merchants,injecting code to a theme will also take,merchants off of the theme upgrade path,first of all the code will remain on the,theme,even when the app is uninstalled,to solve these challenges we are,introducing theme app extensions,allowing you to extend apps into,merchants themes,via app blocks themeapp extensions,represent the future of app building on,shopify,a theme app extension is a bundle of,theme files,provided by the app where shopify takes,care of the rendering,and hosting of assets these extensions,are created published and updated from,the shopify cli,just like other app extensions apps,do not touch a theme's code this means,uninstalls are also cleaner,with ghost code automatically removed,app blocks represent a radical change in,the way apps are included inside of,themes,app developers can now build ui,components,that can be added removed and configured,directly through the theme editor,there are two ways for app blocks to,extend the online store,first way is when an app block is added,to a section,or added as full width within a platform,provided app section,second is what we called app embed,blocks,injected in the head or body of a page,this is especially handy for when an app,is trying to add a script to a page,or a floating element like a chat widget,let's see app blocks in action i can add,the star ratings badge,to the product section and drag it,inline,i can also add the customer reviews app,block,as full width to the page wrapped in,platform provided app section,app embed blocks can be accessed enabled,and configured under the theme settings,as seen in this example i can enable the,shopify chat app,and configure the visual settings,without leaving the editor,now chris will tell you how to build the,theme app extension,thank you doolan great now you know what,theme app extensions are,let's see how to build one first make,sure you have the shopify command line,tool installed,i've got version 2

let’s discuss payment gateways.,Unfortunately, Shopify Payments is not
available for hemp or CBD products.,But Shopify has partnered with
third party payment gateways ,that support hemp and hemp-derived CBD businesses.,Check the description for links to three payment
gateways you should consider applying to:,The first being DigiPay, then
Pinwheel, and finally, Authorize.net.,Because CBD is a regulated market, ,the approval process for any payment

just saying i'm gonna be reviewing your,store now,um so i,absolutely love kawakawa products i've,suffered with eczema my whole life so,i love that you're creating these,products and i've had a look and,looks like you've got some really great,stuff and you've got amazing reviews so,that's really cool,um i don't want to start off on a bad,note but,menus down the left are not in the,typical,header space can be a little bit hard,for people to use because it's not the,norm,what i would suggest you do is install,an app,which tracks user behavior on your store,and then you can record people's,sessions see how they move around the,store,see if it's difficult for them and,you'll get some really really useful,insights from that so there are two apps,that you can do there with,one is called hotjar and i believe that,one has a free trial,and the other one is called bitter,replay and that one's completely free,install those on the site just download,the app it's relatively easy,and then wait a week and then,watch some of the recordings,watch a few where people have landed on,the front page and left,watch a few where people have landed on,the home page visited a couple pages,then left,and then watch ones where people have,purchased so you get a good variety you,don't have to watch them all,i'm not sure how much traffic you're,getting um,but it'll show you within the app,how far through the site or how many,pages people visited,and if you watch a few from each,category you'll get a really good idea,of what's going on when someone lands on,your shop,so that's the position of the menu the,other thing,i wanted to say here was,under native remedies i would,add a drop down menu based,on,based on what what it's remedying so is,it,pain relief eczema um sleep,chaps lips add kind of the key,categories that your products,fall into for the remedies that they,that they cover as a drop down,just to make it easier for people to,find what they want,and see what you've got available the,other thing,is we're missing a contact us page,i don't think it's in the footer either,no so make sure you add a contact page,so to add the contact form,create a new page in shopify and then,in the bottom right hand corner there is,a,page template drop down field if you,select,contact under the templates it'll create,a page with a form on it,and then all you need to do is just add,one line of text,which says we'll get back to you within,24 hours 48 hours whatever your response,time might be,i do see that you've got the messages on,facebook,chat thing there which is really good um,but some people,may just prefer to send you a message to,the contact form,so let's cater to to those people that,prefer to,act in that way um,some other things that are missing from,your menu that are really key,are refund and return policy what if,someone doesn't like their product what,happens,um shipping how long does it take and,how much does it cost,terms of service and privacy policy,shopify,has templates for all
