all right guys so in this video i'm,going to be showing you how you can go,ahead and,customize your debut theme within,shopify so debut theme,is the theme that all shopify stores,start out with,by default when you go ahead and start a,shopify store and if you haven't already,opened your shopify store yet you can,start your 14 day free trial by clicking,the first link in the description,so i figured i'd make this video because,debut theme,is one of the most commonly used themes,because it's the one that all stores,start out with and the view theme,actually looks,really good so right here we can see,that this is what debut theme looks like,when it's first installed with,absolutely nothing filled out,so we can see that we have where our,logo should be,we have a big header right here with,some text we have an image here,we have three images with text below,here we have,a uh empty collection and we have,another,um header type image right here another,wallpaper image,we have some testimonials and we have,three images down here,and then we have the footer so,right now we have a nice little template,but it's blank,so if you're looking to go ahead and,fill out,your um store using debut theme,the first thing you're going to want to,make sure you have is,a few key things so i'm going to bring,up a notepad and just make sure,because before you go ahead and start,the design process you're going to need,a couple things so the first one is,going to be a logo,so i assume you already have a logo at,this point if you're ready to start your,store design but if not,then make sure you get a logo first,because everything else is going to be,based around the logo,and then we're going to have a color,scheme selected,and normally this color scheme is going,to,be derived from colors from your logo,and typically,you're going to use one to two colors,to base your entire store around and,like i said these colors will be derived,from the logo and the next thing we're,going to need,is a couple wallpaper photos,so we can see we're going to need some,photos to go ahead and put back here in,this header,we need some photos to put back here and,this header as well,so if you have any large photos related,to your business,go ahead and upload them to your,computer or,put them all in one folder so we can go,ahead and,use them as backgrounds here and if you,don't you can use,different sites such as pixabay,to find free stock images that you can,go ahead and use,so let's just type in something like,fishing,so if you had a store related to fishing,you could go ahead and just,look for different stock photos here,or maybe you have something related to,yoga,or fitness you can type in a lot,of different niches depending on what,your store is based around,and you can use some of these wallpapers,to go ahead and put back here,now obviously i do think it's better if,you have your own,custom photos but uh you know not,everyone's gonna have that starting out,so if you don't you can go ahead and us

all right what's up guys this is jake in,this video i'm going to be showing you,how you can go ahead and customize and,build a store using the dawn theme with,shopify so dawn is the new default theme,whenever you set up a shopify store so,we're gonna go ahead and take a look at,how you can,set it up to make your store look good,so first thing you need to do if you,don't already have a store you can go,ahead and click the first link in the,description,and you'll be taken to this page right,here and you can just enter your email,address and go ahead and start your free,trial and we can go ahead and get,started setting up your store,so once you've went ahead and started,your trial,you're going to be taken to the back end,of the store right here and we can see,that by default the current theme is,going to be dawn so what we're going to,go ahead and do first is take a look at,the base template of this theme and then,we're actually going to start building,it out so i'm going to come over here to,actions and click on preview and now we,can go ahead and take a look at the base,skeleton that dawn provides us so we can,see here that we have a little,announcement bar up top we have our logo,we have our menu and we have the cart,and search icon we have a nice header,wallpaper right here along with a call,to action right here,we have another little,call to action with some information,right here we have,four featured products right here in,this section,and then we have a media collage that,includes a video,a collection and a product and then we,have a video section down here and then,we have a multi-column section which,includes three different text sections,right here and then we have the footer,so this is how dawn looks out of the box,and we're going to do a couple small,changes to it but mostly we're going to,be,building out this store using the base,skeleton of the theme to keep things as,simple as possible so with that said,we're going to go ahead and come back,over here and really quickly we're going,to take a look at the things you're,going to need to go ahead and build out,your store using this theme,so the first thing you're going to need,is a logo if you don't already have a,logo for your business or your brand you,can make one over here at logomaker.com,or you can come over here to fiverr.com,and search for a logo designer and get,one made for relatively cheap the next,thing you're going to need is some,wallpaper photos because we've seen,especially on the header you're going to,need some photos to use for that so,these are going to be pictures that are,related to your brand or your product,and if you don't have any of those,yourself you can go ahead over here to,pixabay.com or,unsplash.com to look for free stock,photos that are related to your product,or niche and then obviously we're going,to need product photos as well as,product details so this is something,that i assume you would already have,and then in this case we saw that there,was a video

all right what's up guys this is jake,and in this video i'm going to be,showing you how you can go ahead and,create custom sections to use in your,shopify store inside of your shopify,theme as well as being able to create,complete custom pages from scratch as,well so this is going to be really,useful if you want to go ahead and just,add a little bit of personal touch or,flair,to whatever shopify theme you are,currently using right now,so in order to do this we're going to be,using an app called be here which is a,landing page builder so you can go ahead,and install b by clicking the first link,in the description,and then once you go ahead and install,it we'll be brought to,the main dashboard of be right here so,this app is really easy to use and we're,going to go ahead and go through it now,so the first thing that we're going to,do is we're going to create a custom,section within our shopify theme and,then next we're going to complete create,a completely custom,page as well,so starting off with the section here if,you're not completely familiar if we go,ahead and go,to our online store really quickly,and we just click on customize here,so when we're customizing our base theme,we can see here that these are going to,be the sections right here so this is a,image with text section a slides to show,etc and if we were to come down here and,click on add section we can see that we,get,a list of a bunch of these theme,sections right here,but let's say that we want to go ahead,and create a custom section so maybe,these sections aren't providing exactly,what we want for our design we want a,little more flexibility so that's what,we're going to be doing right now so,inside of the b app if we come down here,to sections,we can go ahead and just click on create,new section right here,and wait for this to go ahead and open,up,so we can go ahead and create a template,title so this is going to be a template,that can be reused over and over again,just like any of these other sections,right here,so we'll just call this,test section,and we'll go ahead and we can either,start from scratch or we can choose a,template so in this particular case i'm,going to just start from scratch,and we can see right here that what it's,going to do is it's going to open up,your store right here and then it's,going to go ahead and,give you a blank section right here that,we can go ahead and actually start,creating,so if i go ahead and click on add new,we can go ahead and select a layout for,the section that we want to go ahead and,use,so we can go ahead and select a full,width just one section here or we can,split it into a bunch of different,things so let's say i want to go ahead,and make this section,using this particular shape right here,and then i can now come up here to,elements and i can actually start,populating the section with elements,so let's say in the center of this,section for example i want to get i,wanted to go ahead,and have an image,and then let's say,on the left side

what's up guys is it Jake and in this,video I'm going to be showing you how,you can set up different collections,inside of Shopify so we're going to go,ahead and jump right into it so we're,inside of a demo store right here and,I've just got some random assortment of,products right here and I'm gonna go,ahead and show you how you can go ahead,and create collections to go ahead and,organize different products together so,if you don't know what collections are,you can access it right here by going to,products and then collections and a,collection is just essentially a group,of related products that helps make the,browsing process a lot easier for your,customers so I'm going to go ahead and,create three different collections in,this video and I'm going to use three,different methods of creating these,collections that way you guys will learn,how you can create a collection in each,different manner so first off we're,gonna go ahead and get started so I'm,gonna be creating a collection for,gaming so these two products right here,and I'm gonna be creating a collection,for phone accessories so this one right,here and this one right here and then,I'm going to be creating a collection,for gym stuff so these two right here,and then lastly I'm gonna be showing you,how you can showcase these collections,on the home page inside your theme,editor so the first thing that you're,gonna want to do is just make sure you,know which products want you want to go,ahead and group together into a,collection and once you've done that we,can go ahead and go over here to,products and collections and get started,so once we're in here most of the time,you're gonna have a default home page,collection but we're gonna go ahead and,create a new one so we're gonna go up,here to create collections and once this,loads in we can see that we have a few,options available right here so the,first one I'm gonna go ahead and create,is the gaming collection so I'm gonna,just go ahead and put gaming right there,and then here we can go ahead and put a,description if you want however you,don't really have to put a description,we can just put a title and we can,put a collection image here as well so,if you have an image if let's say you're,trying to make a page for that,collection alone and you want an image,on top of that page it's like a banner,or something this is where you could put,it but for this tutorial I'm not going,to do that I'm going to just show you,how to set up the basic collections so,down here we can see that we have to,select collection type so there's a,couple different options we can do to,set up the collection type so the first,option we're going to do is going to be,automated and it's going to be based off,of one of these conditions down here so,we can see that we can have two types we,can either do it manually where we can,add products to the collection one at a,time or we can make it automated where,existing and future products that we add,to the kids to the store if they

all right what's up guys this is jake,and in this video i'm going to be,showing you how you can add,sections to any page on your shopify,store so one thing you'll probably,notice,if you've been setting up your store is,that when you're customizing the home,page right here you'll see that you can,add a bunch of different sections on,here,and that's cool and all but you'll,notice that you can really only do this,on the home page so if i were to switch,to like just a blank page here,like my about page for example you'll,see that it only really has,a header and a footer section as far as,this template goes there's nothing else,on it,and we can't really edit or add or move,any of these,different sections right here you'll,notice most themes don't really come,with,many templates here so what this,essentially means,is that your home page is pretty highly,customizable and has a lot of different,sections to it but then the rest of your,pages might be looking a little,bland or boring so in this video i'm,going to show you how you can go ahead,and add,sections like this to any page that you,want,so what you want to go ahead and do here,first is we're going to go ahead,and exit the editor but i'm going to,open up the editor in another,tab here for later on and the first,thing that we're gonna do here really,quick is create a test page so i'm gonna,go to pages here,add page and just create test and you'll,notice here that we have,theme templates here default page and,contact is the only one that comes with,the debut theme,right here and what we're gonna have to,do here,to add sections to any page we want is,to create a new,theme template which we're gonna,actually have to do by going,into the theme editor and editing some,code but it's actually really easy,and i'm going to show you the exact code,you need to use so it won't be,that hard so i'm going to go ahead and,just save this test page really quick,and then i'm going to go over here to,online store and i'm going to open this,in a new tab to keep the pages open for,later,and what we're gonna go ahead and do,here first before we actually edit,the code we're going to first just make,sure you duplicate your theme just in,case you accidentally uh,missed click on something and you mess,up something within the theme,you just want to make sure you duplicate,it so that way that mistake,can immediately be erased so once you,duplicate your theme we're going to go,down here to edit code,and what i'm going to do now is show you,how you can go ahead and,create a new template so we can see,right here we have different templates,here,and we can see that if we go down here,to page we can see we only have two page,templates we have the contact and then,just regular page.liquid,and depending on what theme you're using,you may have more or less,page templates so what we want to go,ahead and do here is just click on add a,new template and we're going to make it,a page,and i'm going to just name it test and,i'm going to click,
