in this video i'm going to show you how,to modify and edit the home page,for the shopify expanse theme this is a,paid theme,available on the shopify app store and,other places online i'm going to show,you how to edit this banner,the navigation here top header,these items here scrolling down your,messaging,how to change all of this select it,testimonials footer etc okay so the,first thing we're going to do,is we're going to log in to the shopify,admin,i'm already logged in so it's going to,take me right in,okay so you're going to see some things,you may see these where it says,customize theme,add domain name etc we're going to go,ahead and click on online store,we're not going to worry about any of,these other items right now,we're just going to go to online store,if at any time during the time that i'm,actually working on this,if i wanted to preview this what i,usually do is i'll keep,one uh window open here like this and,then i'll go ahead,and select customize i right click on it,and open it up in a new tab,just so i have access to come back to,this section and i have to go back and,forth you know uh to change things,so uh right now i'm gonna go ahead and,just keep the website here,now if we look at this,expanse was already installed,and we've configured it we've actually,made these banners,made the images,jeez pms,okay so now we've logged in we actually,clicked on the customizer,and we're in the back and if you notice,over here on the right hand side,we have some things we can do some quick,keyboard shortcuts and things like that,you can mess around with that later,if we scroll down on the center here,you'll see,your website okay now um if you,look up here you have homepage products,collections we'll get into this later,but you can actually edit these directly,as well there's only a couple of options,available for each one,um the only page that has this like,wysiwyg,editor is the home page so the internal,pages do not,right so that's why you either need to,pick a theme that you like that has a,cool,you know collection page a cool product,page things like that,or pick a theme generic theme and then,add to it with code,or apps okay a cool thing about shopify,is it does have this ability right here,to go ahead and click on and look at how,your website would look into mobile,so you can go ahead and look at that,while you're actually playing around,with it click on desktop and if you,click on full screen,it gets rid of all the menus together so,we're gonna go back to desktop,and this announcement bar here so this,announcement bar at the top we go ahead,and click on that,and shopify just changed the way it has,this whole it's called online 2.0,so now they have this whole new backend,you're going to want to click on the,actual,arrows now to do the drop downs well we,have messages,here that actually rotate for this,particular theme,so if you look at it when i click on,these they'll actually show up on the,right hand side here,so if you notice i can act

how to edit swatches for collection filter on impulse theme for shopify

in this video i'm going to show you how,to um add the collection filter to the,impulse,theme it's kind of a pain in the oh you,know what so if you look at this when,you go to any of these collections,right and you have this filter by color,here it has really pretty swatches right,so in order to get these swatches to,show up correctly they have to be named,exactly as,they are,inside of the assets folder so in this,case if you look at this one's called,aquamarine well we ended up creating a,swatch,and uploading it into the assets folder,and how you get here,is you're going to go to your online,store,and then you go to actions and you go to,edit code,and then you are going to,wait for the load wait for it to load,and then we'll expand with this little,box right here and you scroll down,onto your assets section now you don't,uh you have to create these swatches in,photoshop right these are real tiny so,if you go ahead and in this case let's,go ahead and copy this one,and or you could create it in any other,photo program,but they are,50 by 50 pixels so,um i'm just going to show you this other,so in photoshop what i did here is like,you go to new,and i'll make a another swatch and i'll,paste this there's my purple so if i,look at the actual size of this,it's 50 by 50 pixels okay,so i want to call that when i save it,as a png file,it's going to be called,amethyst.png,right so amethyst.png,so now i'm going to go ahead and um say,i didn't create that i just saved it on,my computer go to add new asset i'll,choose my file and then in this case i,have white gold plenty but i'm not going,to upload that so say that was amethyst,it would upload it and it would put it,right here,in the list for me so for every swatch,that you have,make sure they're named correctly and if,this watch has multiple names you're,going to want to make sure there's a,hyphen between it and not an underscore,so if you look in here,it's probably here you go cyan ruby,underscore so that's not going to work,with the underscore,so you have to have a hyphen in there so,this thing's kind of weird this way so,now if we go back,and we look at this,uh website you'll see here are the,swatches and then the swatches are,showing up here right because they're,named accordingly now under these,products,if you look at this product so we have,choose your color,so in this case it's called white gold,plated rose gold plated so i have to,make sure that i have swatches that are,called exactly the same thing,white gold plated rose gold plated so if,i go and i look at my assets folder i,went ahead and created those already so,i have,uh white gold plated notice there's,hyphen hyphen right and then you have,red i think i've got one in here yeah,now so rose gold plug is that one let's,see,so yeah yeah rose gold plated so they,put the tag in here red gold pleated,which is incorrect so this needs to have,a tag,of whatever these colors are here,excuse me,whatever the tag of these colors are,here right white gold pla

How to Create Manual Collection Shopify Expanse Theme

uh in this video i'm going to show you,how to add a new collection,assign some products to it and then add,it,to one of the menus the header menu,making life easier so say for instance,you want to add a new collection to your,store,you're going to click on products you,click on collections,collections are categories and i'm just,going to call this,test okay for my collection so create,collection,i want to call it test so here,i have the ability to put in any kind of,copy that's going to show up on the top,of the actual,category page so i'm just going to put,the,this is my test description,you don't need to actually put in the,collection image if you don't want to,it's not used anywhere in the store so,you really don't need to put that in,there,will be available on one sales channel,right now it's just your online store,we can get into sales channels later but,once you start adding facebook or,google merchant or anything else you're,going to sell you're going to sell your,product,then you'll have the ability to place,a product for sale in one or all or,a few of the stores so say for instance,you wanted to sell it on,just on your website and on facebook but,not on google you can do that,so or the same thing with instagram so,you can go through and check the boxes,off of,where you want the product to be sold so,maybe you don't want it sold on facebook,maybe you don't want it sold on,google but you do want to sell it on,your own website so you would actually,control,the product availability and the,collection availability,um via this online store channel here,now,automated collections if i was to,actually create this as an automated,collection,and i have the ability that whenever i,add,or any new product or if there's any,existing products,and they have a product tag say for,instance the product tag,is test anything that has the product,tag test will automatically be assigned,to this collection,that's pretty cool you can do the same,thing with the product title or the,price,or compare whatever you wanted to do,right that was going to be the same,thing,so it could be the same thing as so say,the product tag is equal to test,right and then if i did this and save,this any products that have,that are tagged with test would,automatically assign this collection,now the caveat the downfall with,automated collections is that,you can't manually add a product to it,okay you cannot add a product to it,manually,so you have to decide whether you're,going to do it manually or automated i,always just stick to manual,just to make your life a lot easier you,can control the store a lot better,so we're gonna go ahead and click on,manual so that we can manually assign,uh the uh we can manually assign,the products to this store uh to the,collection,so that we i like to use one two three,i like to use manual so that i can,completely,control the products that are going to,be assigned,to this collection so i'm gonna go ahead,and save this so now i've saved it as a,manual co

How To Edit Menus Expanse Theme Shopify

hello,in this video i'm going to show you how,to understand and to use menus,inside of the expanse theme for shopify,which you have,so you have this top menu which is your,primary or main navigation menu,and then if you scroll to the bottom you,have multiple menus here,so this looks like one footer but this,is really one menu and then this is one,menu,so all the items at the top here,currently are,all set as collections okay,so you can actually add pages or,collections or,directly link to products from your,menus,so if you scroll down to the bottom here,you'll actually see that about us as a,page,store locations is a page page page,my account is a default url for shopify,this is a page customer service is a,page,fax is a page and order status is them,logging in and looking at their status,so these are all pages same thing with,the privacy policy if you actually click,on about us for instance,you'll see up here in the url where it,changes to pages,now we click on apparel you'll notice,this changes to collection,and if i click on a product you'll,notice it changes to collections,apparel products so there's my,collection there's my subcategory for it,and then there is my,product so,if you look at this and you go ahead and,click on apparel,you'll notice this menu on the left hand,side loads,so if you see this menu these are all,individual menus,so there's not just one menu that,controls this these are all menus,there's a menu for new and featured,there's a menu for maryland apparel,there's a menu for cookbooks,there's a menu for crabby items most,stores are not like this but in order to,get this kind of functionality we have,to do it this way,okay usually you have one menu then you,have everything in that menu,in order to control it this way we need,to create sub menus,let's log into the back end of shopify,we're going to go to online store,once that's selected we click on,navigation,and now you'll see all these menus in,here these are all the things that we,created for,this store so we're looking for,something called main menu,and here we go so this is the top,navigation menu for your store,shop all products if i click on edit it,actually links to all products,say i wanted to link that somewhere else,i can turn that off,i go ahead and click in there and i can,start typing,all products and my collections,all collections shop catalog,all products,products all products,so they are different just so you know,okay apply changes,now if i do change anything remember i'm,going through and i'm changing all these,once i'm finished i'm going to want to,hit save,if i scroll down here you'll see these,little arrows next to,the menu items these are the drop-down,items,underneath your menu,if i go ahead and select that there's,men's women's children's,i'll say for instance i want women's,above men's i can just go ahead and,simply,click and drag it notice how that blue,bar shows up so if i actually move it,off to something else accidentally,i just have to simply dr

hey it's klaus here i haven't done a,theme review for shopify for a while and,as there are more and more,os 2.0 online shopping 2.0,themes are coming out i thought i will,do one for you this time so let's dive,right into it,so the theme that i'm looking at this,time is the focal theme by maestro some,of you might know that the warehouse,theme of maestro is one of my favorite,themes in the shopify universe,and so i thought this new theme that,they brought out,might be a good catch to see what they,have done so let's dive in here into the,demo store first and then we go into the,back end,the demo store itself you see here's,coming in three different styles if i'm,not completely wrong it's actually it's,four different styles so basically you,can choose from different color schemes,on the demo or on the theme itself,you see it has a pop-up integrated here,directly not the best way to work with,pop-ups here obviously but depending on,how you integrate your theme you might,get rid of this anyway and might,integrate a pop-up coming from for,instance clavio or any other kind of app,now let's be on the homepage here and,see what we have here so obviously we,have a hello bar notification bar right,up here interesting here they have a,slider in there see this one is actually,quite nicely done saves a lot of space,you can put in some more information,than just one line i think that's that's,very easily done so if you have um for,instance one more than one promotion,there or you want to mix it up with free,shipping notifications something like,that you can do this here so i like that,a lot,i like that the header is very narrow,one thing that i always recommend when i,do store reviews um website audits is,having a very narrow header so you want,to bring the main content high into the,browser window above the fold so that,people do not need to scroll down to see,the main content so that's nicely done,then we have here the navigation in this,color scheme actually quite nice high,contrast white text on black background,so easy to read easy on the eyes so,that's also very well done,simply also,enough space here to put enough menu,items in here my screen resolution is,1920 1080 so you see that might even,work with smaller ones,it seems so that they have a currency,converter in um included already that's,nice,here i have contact field something i,would not recommend but that seemingly,is an option in in their um in their,theme,er search icon um again not best,practice so they have it here that's,something i would change there and,obviously the,annoying login account creation thingy,and then we have the back or the card,here and also with a contrasting color,so that's nicely done so overall i like,the header you have all the main,information in here a couple of things,that i would add would for instance like,a support email address right here and,other things but overall the header,quite easy,now then we have here our slideshow our,hero image usually i do not recomme
