hey guys this is alfonso walker from aw,digital studios today we're going to,discuss the theme element of shopify,so let's get started,so this is your main page for your,shopify store and what you're going to,do is go to,online store here,and click on the theme element which,will it'll automatically take you there,actually,um and as you slide down,right here,these are the this is the theme library,right so this is where you can find your,themes now by default you're gonna have,a theme called dawn it's pretty it's the,most up-to-date,uh main theme that shopify provides so,it's it's a pretty good update compared,to the previous,theme so a lot gives you a little more,access in terms of,abilities to,customize your website as compared to,previous themes and we're going to talk,about that,specific customization in future videos,but today we just want to give you a,background as far as how the themes are,set up and how you can kind of customize,or get a specific theme that fits your,specific needs,so when you come back down here to theme,library so there are two main options,first one is your free themes right and,it's self-explanatory so you go to,explore free themes,it'll take you to a few generic themes,that have their own style flavor,but they're all free so that's nice,right it's not it's not going to mess,their pocket books here,here's an example let's just choose,sense for example so you can say,maybe you like this,figure out the features you know,optimize for large images product image,rollover home and product page videos,customer,testimonials so then you can just say,okay add a theme add to theme library,so it's going to upload that and then,here,once it's done it's done uploading,you'll be able to actually use it and it,will replace the current theme you're,using which is dawn,so that's a pretty cool feature they,make it really easy for you to update,whatever themes you want to try out so,you can go back and forth you can,just maybe just use this theme as a,test,maybe not you don't want to necessarily,make it go live but you want to actually,use it as an example,so this is going to take a minute for it,to update okay so now it's updated,so it's just like your regular theme up,here but it's not officially the the,theme that you're going to be using but,if you want this to be the your main,theme then all you have to do is go to,actions,and click publish,and it'll ask you are you sure you want,to publish sense this will replace your,current theme dawn yes so you publish it,and this is your official theme now,right and you see how it's changed now,it's since it's not dawn anymore,okay,and then dawn is put down here so they,essentially just switch spots,so let's just go back to,dawn again publish this,go back to where it was so it's really,easy just to update and change the type,of themes you want now those that was a,free theme right so maybe you want a,theme that's a little more advanced all,you have to do is go to visit the theme,store okay whi

hey guys this is alfonso walker from aw,digital studios today we're going to,continue our conversation on how to,customize your themes so let's get,started,now last time when it came to,customization we spoke about,specifically,uh areas called sections and blocks so,right so right here you have your,collection list this is a section and,then within that section you have,different blocks now if you want to hear,how to customize these sections go look,at the previous video and we will go,through this in detail but today we're,going to talk about the other area that,will allow you to customize your theme,which is the theme settings,now this is a little more focused on,details about your theme so let's say,you're,the coloring of your of wording or the,fonts,um adding social media et cetera et,cetera we're going to go through all,that today so the first one is,we're going to cover is your,your heading right so let's say you want,to change the color of your heading so,right now it's black and maybe you want,to change it to,a red right so it's pretty,straightforward heading that's how you,change it,you want to make any permanent changes,so we'll go back,from there another example could be your,body text so your body text which which,is the smaller writing below your,heading text you do the same thing,uh maybe this time we want to make it,brown right so you can make it brown,maybe you can't really see that maybe,try red instead so pretty,straightforward in that sense,and then we're going to go back so,that's how you set up the,you can change your colors right just go,to this the top the first part of your,themes right here you can make those,adjustments pretty easily,the next is typography which is,essentially your font so,right now right now they're using old,standard tt,let's say we want to change that to,mono,you can see how that changes so you can,change that to whatever you want it to,be you can type in something if you you,already have in mind what you want to do,is maybe say roman times new,times new roman you can do that as well,so they make it pretty easy and,straightforward to make those,adjustments,okay so,the next one we're going to go over is,your social media so social media is,essentially let's say you have a,a link to your social you have a,facebook page for your business,all you have to do is post the url here,for your your facebook business link,right same thing with twitter pinterest,instagram,and where that would show up it will,show up at the bottom down here,so your facebook your instagram all,those links would show up at the bottom,right hand corner,now the next one is your favicon,favicons that's,that's as little images you see at the,top left corner of a website so you are,you're not going to see it here even if,i chose you you can choose and create,one if you have a,like an image already on on standby but,usually obviously you'd have your own,favicon setups already and this is where,you actually put it to show up so you,can see

hey guys this is alfonso walker coming,from aw digital studios,today we're going to continue our series,about themes but now we're going to,focus on once you've chosen a theme how,to customize it so let's get started,okay so we're starting out as usual on,the administration section,and we're gonna go to the we're in the,theme section,and all you have to do is go to your,customize button,okay so this is where you actually make,the changes to your website,um so initially we'll come up here this,is your home page this is what allows,you to go to different sections within,your,your shopify store right so if you want,to go to specific product or collection,we don't have any of this set up right,now but when you do have it set up,you'll be able to actually go to,specific pages for example,um it'll show you these pages you can go,to,so that'll be very convenient,also up here,this is another way of showing you how,your web page is going to look uh to a,different,um platform that's being used on your,website so whether it's a,typical computer or it's a phone this is,how you can actually change to see what,would your your store look like on that,device so like it feels on a mobile,device this is what it would look like,right very convenient if it's on a,desktop this is what it looks like and,if it's on a full screen,uh this is what,what it would look like to someone who's,not on your shopify administration page,all right so we're going to go back to,desktop because we want to make some,adjustments here,okay it's really convenient,and then so let's start out so the first,thing you're going to have here is your,your announcement bar so this is like,any other announcement for if you've,ever been to a web page it's kind of let,you know maybe if there's a sale or,something special happening within your,store,um and if you go there,it allows you to i just says customize a,section using blocks right but it allows,you to customize it right here so you,can add an announcement,or you can have multiple announcements,or and if you don't want that,announcement to be there anymore you can,just click this little i,and it'll disappear,but also if you just want to delete it,permanently you can just click onto it,and come all the way down to the bottom,here and say remove block and that block,will be removed and you go back to just,having one welcome store,section or announcement bar,now if you want to customize that,announcement bar you just have to click,that specific bar right here so the text,says welcome to your store you can say,welcome to our town whatever i don't,know why you would say that but just,shows you how it immediately changes,that so let's just go back to store,okay,you can change the background etc etc to,whatever you want these are generic but,you can actually customize these i'll,talk about this in a future video,and then we'll go back to there,and then you have your header which is,essentially your navigation bar um this,is a section where you can add

what's up everyone welcome back to my,channel if you're new here i'm paris and,i make videos all about candle making,and the starting and managing of my,small candle business,lady simone canaco today is part two of,shopify the overview if you have not,caught part one i will link it in the,cards above and in the description box,below,but today i am going to give you a full,shopify demo,on how to set up your store and how to,get everything up and running to go live,plus give you my final review so let's,get started,all right everyone i am back here,and we are going to go ahead and get,started because there's quite,a bit to talk about so,we are going to set up a fake shopify,store,and i'm going to show you how to do that,and how to kind of get it set up,so we're going to go ahead and start a,free trial here,as you can see you can start your free,trial for 14 days,i set up a demo address,for this video so we are going to,type that in this lady see,demo business,for uh this store,and then our store name is going to be,lady,demo,business,and we are going to create our store,now when it comes to your trial um as,you see you you was prompted to enter a,store name,which will also kind of be your default,url,if you can see like up here in the,search um and you you won't be able,to necessarily change this that's that's,how your store is going to look like,that's how,ladies simone candle co that's how my,store look dot,myshopify.com but you will be able to,buy a custom domain if you want to,which is what i already had a domain,and i was able to change it later on,um but right now just to get set up you,can just enter in your store name,and should you want another,uh if you want a domain name that,actually looks like your store,um your store name then you can do that,so you're here and we're prompted to ask,a few questions,so it says what are you selling,so you have a couple options here um,and you have like i'm just playing,around i'm not selling products yet,i'm selling just not online i sell with,a different system,so um for the sake of this video,we're gonna put i'm not selling products,yet i know that's what i picked when i,first,started my store because i wasn't,selling anything yet,and so here says do you have something,to sell,yes so you have a few options here like,no i'm just playing around,i'm still brainstorming or yes i have,a product and it'll be ready to launch,in a few weeks so that's what i picked,um what's your current revenue i,obviously picked,zero i'm just getting started but as you,can see you know if you,already kind of been selling for a while,you kind of know what your revenue is,just,it kind of gives you like some ballpark,options but at the time i just picked,i don't have nothing y'all i'm just i'm,getting started,so um which industry would you be,operating in,um i picked handcrafts at the time well,because cam making candles is,handcrafted so for the sake of this,video we're going to pick handcraft but,as you can see there's so man

Shopify Themes - Free, Paid or Custom? (The Honest Truth)

so far on this channel we've continued,to go deeper and deeper into shopify,theme development but today i want to,zoom out and talk more broadly about the,need for theme development to begin with,if you're new here i'm chris and i,currently specialize as a front-end web,developer for the shopify platform i.e i,do shopify theme development but if,you've clicked on this video i'm going,to take a guess and say that you don't,actually need my services let me explain,so given that i've built a bit of a,reputation for this kind of work i get a,range of people reach out to me some of,which are just starting out in,e-commerce and to virtually all of these,people i tell them to start with a,pre-built theme and focus on customizing,their theme later,why because as a new store owner your,primary goal should be on sales and,marketing not on getting your theme,perfectly customized i'll be honest a,custom site for me is typically going to,come with a five figure price tag and if,you don't have a ton of traffic on the,site yet that budget is probably better,spent on generating traffic instead,pre-built themes whether free or paid,will do the trick for the majority of,sellers and with premium themes starting,at a price tag of just around 220 usd,it's an easy investment to justify that,is until you reach a certain level,that level is typically when you start,to turn over more than a million dollars,in revenue at this point you have a real,business and with around 40 profit,margin you're making around 400k which,you can start to split up between,marketing and website improvements,people often ask me do i build websites,to which i answer no i customize,existing ones regardless of whether,you're just starting out or a few years,into your business,very rarely is it the case that i as a,developer need to create a brand new,theme for a client,most e-commerce sites have similar,features almost every product page has a,set of product images a product title,description price product form,and the add to cart button so there's no,need to reinvent the wheel but with a,bit of theme development we can add,extra features to the product page make,unlimited changes to the styling of this,page and this is where theme development,comes in,while the theme might come with some,customization options the only way to,achieve full control is enlisting the,help of someone who understands,front-end web development on the shopify,platform so with this in mind let me,directly answer the question in the,title of this video,the first decision you need to make is,free or paid theme as i mentioned,earlier this is going to be a question,you need to answer no matter whether you,plan to create a custom site or not as,it's almost always more cost efficient,to start with a pre-built theme and this,decision i would recommend you make,based purely on your budget if you can,afford the two to three hundred dollars,required to buy a premium theme then i,definitely recommend you do it,at the time of record

hey guys this is alfonso walker from aw,digital studios today we're going to,continue our discussion on themes but,we're going to focus on how to find the,best pictures for your store,so let's get started,when we're discussing about pictures the,number one thing you can do that i,recommend to all my clients is,providing customizable pictures right,you can you can get stock photos that's,great we're going to discuss some some,great websites to find that but the best,thing you can do is to make sure you,have as many customizable pictures that,are reflection of your brand,okay and the only way you can really do,that is by taking pictures yourself or,hiring someone professional to take good,quality pictures for you,i recommend both if you are a good,photographer then do that but i highly,recommend getting a professional because,that can really make or break your,website i've seen people with websites,they look like they do not look great,and people will leave them,and you should know because if you've,ever gone to a website that does not,have good quality pictures you tend to,want to leave and you go to the website,who does that does have good quality,pictures so it's very crucial you make,sure you have good quality customizable,pictures,now the first place i'm going to,recommend is going to fiverr,they have a lot of great photographers,so that's a good place you can start at,good quality prices that can fit,anyone's budget,but also if you can't do that just,google google some photographers in your,local area,and i'm sure you can find some good,photographers wherever you live,but now,let's say you want to get some stock,photos right that aren't necessarily,more generic but they're still good,quality stock photos,the first place i recommend is a place,called istock.com,uh you can just type in let's say we're,focusing on candles here but you can,obviously type in anything,you can get some good quality pictures,here that,are sold at a price that are very fair,i'd say around five to ten dollars but i,think that is,a good investment since these pictures,once you pay for them they're your,pictures and the advantage of that is is,that once they're your pictures no one,else can use them unless you allow them,to so you're not going to worry about,having a picture on your website,that,other people will have right and that's,one of the things you really don't want,to come across is if you have,a website and other people have seen the,same generic picture and other websites,it doesn't show that you've invested as,much time and it's a bad reflection on,your own branding your own products so,it's a great idea to possibly invest,five 10 bucks on a photo,and starting with eyestock is one place,another place you can find some good,good quality priced uh high quality,pictures is shutter stock,same situation by these products you can,get these images and you own these,images you have to worry about these,images showing up on other people's,websites,now if you want to g

Shopify Apps that I use for my candle business! why I love Shopify and what I recommend.

hello friends thank you so much for,watching our video today if you are new,welcome if you are one of our,subscribers thank you so much for,watching our video again,um as you can tell by the title i'm,going to be talking to you about shopify,and the apps that i use on shopify so we,have a candle business that we've been,running for a little over six months now,and uh we use shopify to run our website,and i have to say first and foremost i,personally love shopify i love all the,apps that you can integrate into it i do,love their customer service i've just,had a very good experience with shopify,so i highly recommend if you are looking,for a website to house,your products and services that you,offer or sell um i would recommend,shopify i know there are tons of others,out there i personally haven't used any,other ones i've started with shopify and,i'm going to stick with shopify so i've,said shopify enough times let's get to,it,so i'm gonna go through about three or,four,apps that i use on shopify,that have really made either my life,really easy with the automation or i,just really enjoy the integration that,this app has with shopify so i'm gonna,share my screen and i'm gonna go through,the three or four different apps with,you that i use in our store so these are,all the apps that we have on our website,and some i currently use some i don't,i've downloaded them,and found that i didn't love them i,don't know why i didn't delete them but,don't judge me so we're going to go,through a few of them the first that i,wanted to talk about was an app called,minta,minta is actually an instagram ad that,was pushed my way,and i no that's a lie i saw it on,instagram and then i saw it on youtube,and,i was like okay let me just at least,check it out let me see what it looks,like and i downloaded it integrated it,into our store and i was literally blown,away like they create content videos,like short form videos that you can post,on tick tock you can post on instagram,um it's basically like little reels that,they create for you and it creates like,backgrounds it integrates all the,different photos that you have on your,website of that specific product and so,i love it i personally don't run our,social page on instagram my husband wes,does that um and so i was telling him,about it we were at starbucks when i saw,it and i was like you have to look at,this this is so cool so let's let me,show you what it looks like look at this,okay so i'm gonna look at this one's,super girly it's like for spring but if,you look it says like shop it first it,creates like these little animations on,the video,um and it's just really really cool it,takes out a lot of the pressure,of trying to like,oh my gosh how do i do this or if you're,not graphic savvy or,um just if you're not comfortable in,that sense this is like a great option,for you because it pretty much does it,for you all you have to do is download,it,and post it so i'm going to do our best,seller golden hue,and,do that and th
