HOW TO ADD CUSTOM PRODUCT SUBTITLE ON SHOPIFY | TUTORIAL 2022

welcome back graduates today I'm going,to show you how to add a little caption,right above your heading now this is a,really powerful way to entice your,costumes,telling them hey it it benefits this or,it solves this right underneath the,heading and it's a short little text or,it can be a long text usually it's a,short text that just you know helps,State what the product is or the,functionality or the benefit of that,product,and it'll look something like this so,Under The Heading you'll have a subtitle,that just says you know it's a cold brew,day,uh so I'm going to show you today how to,add this to your your theme at no cost,and hopefully this helps uh increase,conversions,let's get right into it three two one,so what you're gonna do is you're gonna,go into the back end of your device,store,right over here and I have it on this,theme so I'll show you on a thing that,doesn't happen right now,so what you're going to do is this is,going to be handled through metaphill,it's product meta fields and what you,can do is go into the settings right,over here you're going to go into meta,fields,and click on products and then you,already notice how I created it so it's,going to be under subtitles and the,reason why it's um subtitles instead of,subtitle is because there are other,things in the code that recognizes as,subtitle so you you want to,differentiate so I added an S to it so,you can name it anything you know,captions subtitles,um however you want and then um custom,subtitles and then what you're going to,do is you're going to add it as a single,line,so I'm gonna get you started so add,definition so these are the steps I,would do,action,and then it's gonna be custom dot,caption and then I'm going to select a,type and it's going to be a single line,and that's all I'm going to have to do I,don't need to do a list of values or a,limit,textile image or character limits and,that's what I would have to do,I'm going to close out of that now I,have my subtitles right here close out,of it then I'm going to go into my,products here and you'll notice once you,create the meta Fields by going into,your products you'll see at the very,bottom of every product a meta field,option that you just created so I just,created a subtitle it's a cold brew day,you have this on every product however,if the Metal Field is not,golden it's not going to show,so it's a cold brew day and I added this,here,now I'm going to show you how to add,this into the theme,I don't have it on,I have it on the live theme but let's do,for example,um,this one,and I'm going to go into my edit code,what you're going to look for is the,main main hyphen product,so I'm going to look for main product,and in the search,I'm going to find main product now in,this,you know you can really place it,anywhere but people you know recognize,it more just under the hiding what I'm,going to do is I'm going to look for,this product this code right here when,price,and when it says this I'm going to add,it right above the

hello my name is Trudy and I'm one of,the developers of design packs a Shopify,app that allows you to add new sections,and templates to your existing theme,today I want to talk about some of the,changes that Shopify has made to the,theme editor that will make your life a,lot easier when creating a Shopify to,start with the basics a Shopify 2.0,theme is made up of templates product,collection and Page templates Etc and a,template is made up of sections and a,section can have multiple blocks so,let's look at how this plays out you can,see here these will be our types of,templates up here product collection,page blogs today we're just going to,stick with pages so if you go into pages,every theme will have a default page and,then you can make other pages on top of,that but we've created an example,template and we base this off of the,default template so when we look at it,it's just the page data that you get in,the editor so if we go over here you can,see with theme 1.0 you were restricted,to this having very simple Pages like,this based on the editor but now with,theme 2. I know every page is a template,and therefore It's a combination of,multiple sections the page itself is a,section so we can also just hide that,now you can see we have nothing but I've,already created one section here image,with text simple which is a little bit,more interesting now we can get into,discussing sections so a template is,just multiple sections we can just add,sections everything that's available in,the theme but then you can see so this,is the section and it has a lot of,options so it has the image option it,has image aspect ratio options links,image position you can set it left or,right and so on and so forth and so,every section well most sections will,have options some might not depending on,their requirements but a lot of sections,will have like many options but then,sections also have blocks so if we go,here you can see that actually this icon,image here and the title and the regular,text are all blocks in and of themselves,and when you open those up you also have,options here so you might miss those you,can change the various options depending,on what the options are you can go into,the heading and you can see you can,change page level if you need or the,base text size and then we have the,simple GUI for text editor here so these,blocks also are drag and droppable so,you can just,switch up the order,however you like,in this sense the template has multiple,sections and the section can have,multiple blocks 2.0 is so great for,giving us all this flexibility but,they're sort of like a kind of downside,to it I don't want to complain too much,but one of the issues with it a little,bit is that it can become tedious when,building because you have so many,options you have all the sections all,the blocks and oftentimes you just want,to set them up once or there's going to,be common themes across all of your,sections that you'll want so for,instance in this case we might

Shopify | From Zero To Hero | Choosing And Adding Other Themes

foreign,so let's have a look and see what other,themes are available because this is,really quite a big subject so if I'm on,the theme on the themes page here if I,scroll down we have basically three,themes and we have the Shopify theme,store all right so we get some,completely free ones that we can get to,play around with and then the Shopify,theme store there are free ones in there,as well but there's also a lot of paying,ones because people develop themes and,then put them on the Shopify theme store,where we can buy them now a theme should,represent the theme of your store right,that's the whole point that's where the,name comes from so if you were selling,um I don't know Outdoor Clothing for,example you might want a particular,theme if you were selling candles you,might want another theme if you were,selling dog collars you might want,another theme so it's a good idea just,to sort of spend time browsing through,themes and deciding which one best,represents your store but let's have a,look at some anyway and see exactly how,you would work how they would work and,how you would apply them to your store,so let's go on to explore free themes,just for the moment now we get a handful,of three free themes here excuse me,we've got minimal simple pop and all,these things right and you can see that,each one is really quite different you,know that's why I like to refer to it as,the kind of the window display that's my,analogy this one here looks like it's,probably more set up for clothing for,example this one over here looks a bit,more clothing as well this one perhaps a,more sort of a wine I don't know you can,see there's various different looks and,feels to this whole thing,so let's say I wanted to implement,um I take anything right let's take the,simple thing so I select it it tells me,a little bit about it it's features and,then it's got two Styles light and,Beauty if I click on beauty it looks a,little bit different light looks like,that so let's say I like the look of,that and I'm going to click on install,theme,now once that's done it says you,successfully installed simple all right,and if I scroll down here I've now got,this extra bit theme name simple and I,got some action so if I want to make,that happen on my site then I need to,basically click on publish,and publish again,and now you see this screen refreshes,and if we take a look at the store,you'll see that that's completely,changed as well yeah we've got all the,same stuff in here we still got our,about us and contact us and blogs but,the menu system has changed this font,has changed the search bar is now up,here the carts over here the checkout's,up there if we scroll down we've still,got our privacy policy and what have you,so you know that's how that theme,presents itself let's go back let's have,a look at another theme so,let's go back to free themes and now,let's take this Brooklyn theme yeah,we've got classic and we've got playful,really quite different let's go with,playful why not
