Using dynamic sources in your product and page templates
hi everyone this is tim from,milehighthemes.com and in this video i'm,going to show you how to create custom, product and page templates using meta, fields as opposed to creating alternate, templates, this functionality is supported in all,of our themes that support online store,2.0 functionality,so first of all i'm going to go ahead, and customize my theme here in this, scenario i'm using the galleria theme, but it works the same for all of our, themes,so i need to go to a product page so i,can do that by either clicking through, here the navigation to get to the, product page or i can use this drop down, menu,i'm going to click products, and we can see the custom product, templates that we've already created,i'm going to go ahead and go to a,default product so i can see what just a,regular product is set to look like in,this theme,so we've got a pretty typical product, layout here with a product gallery here, the title pricing and the ability to add,it to the cart, beyond that we have this image here with, some heading and regular text, and then another image with some text, over here,we've got some testimonials we've got, some related products, and we've got another image with text, section here,so,this is what every product page that's,using the default product template will, look like obviously this information, will change depending on which product,we're viewing but everything else,is going to be static with the exception,of these related products, because that's pulled in using shopify's,recommendation engine, but all these other sections that were, added manually over here are going to,have the same images and the same text,on every product page,so this may or may not work for you,if it does work great if it doesn't you, could create a unique product template, for every single product and drag and, drop your own sections to each one but, that's pretty tedious, and if you want to reuse some functions, like for example this image here,is just about saying that our products, are locally made with a background image,of san francisco,so this is kind of global content that, you might want on every product page, but this this might be like a feature of,the product for example, and maybe you want to have the same, section on each one but you want this, text to be different and this image to,be different,so in this case we can use meta fields,to do that,so i'll show you how to do that now,so the first thing i'm going to do is,i'm going to go ahead and create a,duplicate product template,so i go back to products and i click, create template, and in this situation i'm just going to,call this meta fields you can call this, whatever you want just whatever makes it,easy for you to remember,i'm going to base it on the default, product since that's what we're using to,you to preview, create template,so now i'm going to exit out of here for,a moment i'm going to go back to the, product, and i'm going to locate this key ring, product because we may as well use that,so there's the key ring, and i'm just

Shopify's New Storefront Filtering (Online Store 2.0)
Shopify's New Storefront Filtering (Online Store 2.0)
so i thought i was done talking about, online store 2.0 but it appears shopify, included a new feature that didn't make,it into the announcements at unite 2021.,i'm talking about storefront filtering,if you check out this page on shopify's,official documentation talking about, theme architecture versions you'll see, that online store 2.0 came with, improvements like sections everywhere, enhanced app support and dynamic sources, but what they failed to mention in their, unite 2021 announcements is this massive, improvement to collection filtering as,you can see here on the documentation we,can now filter collections natively in,shopify via availability price product, type vendor variant options and meta, fields so in this video we're going to,explore this new feature and start to,incorporate it into our themes,so to start off this video i thought we,would look at an example of storefront, filtering and what better example than, the dawn theme shopify's new default, theme which showcases a lot of the, online store 2.0 features including, storefront filtering,so i'm going to click actions and then, click view,to view this dawn theme on my store, and then i'm going to navigate to a,collection i don't have it in my,navigation at present so i'm just going,to navigate there directly in my,url here, and if i go down to here i can see that,we've got our new storefront filters so,i can actually click here to filter via,in stock which all of them are in stock,so that's not really going to filter, anything, but i can look at you know the brand and, what sizes are available the one that i,think is most important and, most exciting is the price filter so now,i can filter out say for instance we got, this insane shoes here which is,eighty dollars,if i was to put in a hundred dollar, minimum,it's now looking at shoes from that 100,minimum up to 140 which is the maximum,so we're able to filter out that one so,obviously this is not the best example, because we've only got eight products, and they all share similar prices but,for a bigger collection this price, filtering would become very handy, the other thing i want you to notice, here is that it reloads this is not, really relevant to product filtering but,in the dawn theme specifically you'll,see that it updates instantly and i had, somebody who commented on an earlier, video make note of this and when i,looked into the network tab,i was able to see that we're reloading, the whole section each time,so if i just, refresh over here with my console open, opening up the network tab and then, going over to fetch xhr to filter the, network requests and i go in here and, filter, you can see we've made a new network, request,i'll zoom in over here, and then click on it,and as you can see, well not very clearly here but you can,see we've got the query string, parameters of you know first of all the, greater than price,of a hundred, and some sort by but we're actually, pulling the whole section and we can see, that if i open this up in a new tab you,can see without th

Best Shopify Themes - Class 14 - Shopify Dropshipping Free Course
Best Shopify Themes - Class 14 - Shopify Dropshipping Free Course
hi guys in this video i want to talk, about themes, choosing a theme is going to be really, really important because a theme,is basically how your online store, aesthetics will look like okay so,basically in shopify when you sign up,for shopify fortunately they have a lot,of themes that you can choose from and, that's going to basically give the, overall look of your website and then, all you have to do is change the titles, change the words and then input photos, okay so,to get to the themes you're going to go,to online store and there's a sub tab, called themes and you're going to bring, you to this page here you're going to,scroll to the bottom,if you want to customize your theme, you're going to click this button the, name of the theme is this by default, you're using the debut theme which is a,a free theme right if you scroll to the, bottom here there's the theme library, there's free themes and then shopify, theme store,if you click free themes it's only gonna, show you the free themes right there's,about nine of them and you can click, through them for example if i click this,it gives you a kind of a quick look at,what it would look like on your phone, and also on the computer browser and, then generally themes will have two, different versions two or three, different versions so i could click this,so this is another, another kind of style of the boundless, theme right also if i go let's say i,want to click on this theme this is,called the minimal theme if i click it,you're going to see that there's three, different versions as well and you could, you can kind of just look through it,right i'm gonna x out right now,but i would recommend going to the, shopify theme store if you go here it's,gonna show you both the free themes and,the paid themes, while it is up to you completely whether, you you you choose to pay for a free, theme or a paid theme,um my recommendation is to buy a paid, theme generally the themes are going to,be the paid themes the professional ones, are going to be around i don't know like,120 to 180 but it's a one-time purchase, and it's going to last forever the, reason i recommend the paid themes is,because there's there's like i don't,know almost 100 of different types of,paid themes there's one for every type,of store right ones with big pictures on,the home page ones with lot lots of,collections one's for big inventories, one's for small inventories whereas the, free themes are a little bit more, limited and they don't have as many, functions on the home page of those, websites so let's go through a couple, right now so,when you go to the theme page they kind,of do they separate them by both, collections right depending on what, you're trying to sell you know um or,what kind of kind of style you're going, for and also industries basically what, you're trying to sell so for example if,i'm selling i don't know iphone cases uh,for uh i might choose electronics i mean,it doesn't really matter although, although it says you know this one is,garden and this one is for f

Extend Shopify Dawn Theme with a Custom Tailwind CSS Carousel Section

hi i'm marcus i like the shopify dawn, theme and in this video i'm going to,show you how to create a custom section, using the tailwind css framework,we are creating a simple carousel, section with the custom styling, the final result will look like this, this is a standard, shopify store with the shopify dom theme, and as you can see on in the top you see,the normal image banner, and below is the image carousel we're,going to create, the image carousel, just, loops through and you can you also use,the navigation, buttons on the left and on the right to,navigate through the carousel, and now i show you how this looks like,on the theme editor so let's switch to,the theme editor, and on the left hand side you see the, sections and you can see, the, one of the sections is the image, carousel the image carousel has a title, you can, change the title, and the button text, and you were able to to add and modify, the images, this is what we are going to create in,this tutorial video,as a preparation for this demo i,installed the shopify cli,and cloned the dawn theme github, repository, this is the dawn github repository, and this is the cloned, version to my private repository, the setup is beyond this tutorial but i,created a blog post,on medium to explain how to say that set,it up correctly, you'll find the link to this blog post,in the description of the video,so let's verify the setup,in the terminal,i enter shopify store, this shows me the store i'm currently, connected through the cli,i created a demo store for this tutorial, and now let's,test github as well let's just say h,minus t,tab.com,as you can see github is also configured, correctly, now i start the local development, environment, the first url is the link to the local, version in the browser, and the second url points to the theme, editor for the local development version,so let's open, the url in the browser, this is the local development version of,the dawn theme, and, now let's open the theme editor, this is the theme editor for the local, development version,as you can see in the title here, this is a special branch of the theme, editor for your local development, environment,it is important to notice when you make, updates on the theme editor of this, scene editor version that you have to,pull back the changes to a repository,so for example let's make a small change,on the theme settings,go to the theme settings, for instance layout and set the maximum, width,to 1200.,now i have to pull back this change to,my local environment i go back to the, visual study code, and in the browser,i open a new shell, and enter, shopify, theme call manage e,and then take the, identifier for the theme, from, here, now the changes are pulled back to my,local environment and as you can see,in the config, settings data what has changed,is exactly, the page width,of 1200,next we install tailwind css and enable,it in our local theme,on the tailwind css website, navigate to the installation, instructions, and, copy, the instructions and enter it to,terminal, okay, successful
