hey everybody Tanya from shooting star,SVG and I am back and today I'm going to,talk about a comment that I keep getting,on the installation of theme forest,theme so you can see that Nolan here,said he is having a problem with the,upload and basically there's an error,that pops up and states that the zip,file does not contain a valid theme and,it is missing the template layout theme,dot liquid and this is the second time,I've received this comment so it seems,like there's a recurring issue here and,if you don't know what I'm talking about,is theme forest themes from the in,bottle market okay they have a ton of,Shopify themes and templates I,personally use this walky theme here,that I have customized quite a bit for,my website,it's a one-and-done payment and really,these can boost your SEO conversion and,just the overall look and feel of your,website based off of your personal,preference and what you're trying to,sell so I'm going to go ahead and post a,link to this in the comments below if,you are gonna purchase a theme I highly,encourage you to use that link as I will,get a couple of bucks from you guys and,I'll help me buy some diapers for my,kids if you haven't already go ahead and,click on like and subscribe below I'm,always trying to debunk these weird,things that are going on when trying to,do things so mmm interestingly enough I,was working on a client's website and,she had the same issue where she was,trying to install a theme I still have,that downloaded on my computer so I'm,going to show you exactly what I ran,into and that was going on so the first,thing that you're going to do is you're,going to follow the steps in the,previous video which I'll link above to,download your theme okay now when you,get to your Shopify store you want to,click on online store and themes and,right here is where you're going to want,to upload your theme so I'm going to,show you exactly what happens,when this error occurs do you click on,upload theme and choose file you want to,go to where your theme is so in this,case my client wanted the vineya theme,okay and so when you just go to install,the zip file as I stated in the previous,video and click on upload this is gonna,take a minute because Shopify is gonna,think about it while it's trying to,install this theme file it comes up with,this pop-up that says it does not have a,valid theme which is the exact issue,that Nolan had and a few other people,had in the previous video and it says,missing template okay so I was like lose,weird most of the themes that I have,installed from theme forest it's just a,one and done so I extracted this file so,what I did was I extracted this zip file,and it opened up this right here now,when you go into the folder there's,usually it's usually buried in there but,in this case you go to source and there,are five different layouts that you can,choose from to upload to your website so,when I click on video home one and click,on open and you have to keep it as a zip,file you click

all right everyone christian here today,i'm going to show you how to keep your,theme up to date super super important,let's get started,so shopify recently released os 2.0 and,with all of that all the themes and the,theme store have been updated to us i'd,say 99 of them have been updated uh,which means that you should definitely,update your theme right now,now,essentially now is the perfect time for,you to update your theme if you haven't,uh there are two ways in which you can,do this um first we're going to do the,old way,it's a little bit more cumbersome,since,actually maybe a few weeks ago a few,months ago they've added the ability to,do this a lot easier but i'm still going,to show you some of some of the other,ways so,shopify and other theme designers,frequently release updated versions of,their themes that they publish on the,theme store so,these updated versions usually include,bug fixes,and a lot of times some new features too,so it's important for you to keep them,up to date on a regular basis what i,would probably recommend is that you,check it,once a month or once every two months,and you just go through this process,make sure that you're,up to date with everything,and just kind of move on,again,bug fixes and new features and then just,the ability to,potentially load your website faster or,all things that you want and your,customers want as well so this is,something that i haven't seen a lot of,people uh necessarily talk about but,it's super important to add to your uh,sort of things that you should do a,maintenance maintenance wise right for,your shopify store because it doesn't,happen automatically so step number one,is to check what theme you're actually,using so do that very simply we just go,to online store and then right here,under themes,it will show you the live theme that,you're using here at the very top so,right now we have venture and then we,have the,version 9.4.1,right here and then if you scroll down a,little bit you'll see your theme library,so these are the other themes that,you've added to your store some of them,could be team throughout,theme trials,or just some older,themes,in there so now we can see that we have,venture and that's the latest version,that we have installed right here now,step number two again this is the sort,of the old way of doing this uh it would,be to go to the theme store and actually,find your theme so we're just gonna do,that really quickly just to kind of show,you what we do in here so we're going to,look for venture,click on that,and then we're going to click on venture,as you can see like venture is not an os,2.0 site let me go back so you can see,it doesn't have the tag for the os 2.0,here so i would recommend not to keep,venture and move on to something a,little bit better but for the purpose of,this tutorial we're going to do this and,then what we want to do here is log in,and then let me grab this real quick,copy,paste,okay so now that you're logged in then,uh this depending on the act

if you're watching this video then,here's what i'm guessing you just did,you wanted to add a video to your,product description so you've clicked,the insert video button pasted the embed,code that you got from youtube into here,and now you expect your video to show up,and it should all work out of the box,right but you visit your product page,and you realize that the video is way,too big and it's actually sticking out,of the column that it should be in and,it's actually kind of breaking the site,as you can see here on the top the,header actually finishes here likewise,the footer and the rest of the site,actually finishes here it's even worse,on iphone or on any mobile here i'm,testing on an iphone 12 pro,and,the video completely juts out of the,entire body of the website and it causes,this crazy side scroll and this white,space to the right what should be,happening is that the video should be,100 width of the container it should,resize responsively dynamically,according to the size of the screen,right so,here you can see that i've fixed this,video and it's actually inside of the,container in line with the button and,everything and it looks fine on mobile,as well so that's what i'm going to be,showing you today how to fix this,because it's only like three lines of,css so it's very easy to do okay i've,deleted my video just so we can go,through this together i'm gonna go to,the youtube video click share,embed,copy the code and there are two ways to,add this video,you can click insert video but usually,what i do is go to html mode and then,just at the bottom i'm going to paste my,iframe just because usually when you,click insert video it's going to add the,video,inside of like a paragraph or something,and that's just unnecessary whenever you,use these types of editors not just on,shopify but on all,website building platforms they usually,generate kind of crappy code,um putting everything into paragraphs,and,just i like to keep it more clean by,pasting directly into html mode so what,we really want to do here is just add,some,styling we just want to add some css if,you're not familiar with css it can be,written like this,we add some style tags this is still,html,these tags here but in between these,style tags we can now write css,okay,and what we need to do that is we need,to target this iframe somehow and then,we can write some rules,the way to target things in css is by,adding a class to them,in the html,a class is just like a name,so we're going to name this iframe,responsive video because we want it to,be responsive we want it to resize,according to the size of the screen,and now in between our style tags we can,write css so we're going to write dot,and then paste that response to video so,what this saying is the dot means class,so anything with a class of responsive,video is going to follow these rules you,put the rules in between curly brackets,and the rules are going to be this,width 100,so i'm just going to make this bigger so,that you can act

yo what up guys welcome to a brand new,video on my channel today we're looking,at another shopify tutorial,so without further ado let's get,straight into the video,so today we're looking at how to,export and import a shopify theme,so let's say you have received a shopify,team from a friend,from a colleague and you want to use it,from your own store for your own store,or you just have another store and want,to duplicate the store,or use the same team like you've paid,for for the,for another store it's pretty simple so,let's say,this is my final store and i have bought,a shopify team,in the team store and i want to use it,for another store,and not pay again for the team what we,need to do,is just click on actions so assuming,this is a team,we want to import into a new store,we want to click on actions scroll down,until we see download team file,from here the team file will,get sent to your email so,let me get that right now so as you can,see,i've received the team file in my email,and all i need to do is just click on,the team export and from here it will be,downloaded to your computer from there,on you,have actually exported your team file,and let's say this is our new store,and we want to import the theme to our,new store,all we need to do is again go to online,store click on teams,from here we scroll down and as you can,see,where we explore three themes,or buy a new team within the shopify,team store you can also click on,add theme right here and if you click on,it,you will get two options upload a zip,file and connect from,github well what we've just did is,downloaded the zip file,so we know all we need to do now is just,click on,upload zip file and as you can see you,can,upload to a maximum file size of 50 mb's,you just click on add file and select,the team click on upload,and show file will do its,job it will take a few minutes so don't,worry if it's,still loading after a minute or two,depending on the side size of your team,and what you've added to the team,it can take up a few minutes so just be,patient,after the team has been uploaded you,will get,this little notification uh saying the,team has been added,to your store from here on uh,the theme has been added to the store,but what we want is,use it for our shopify store so,all we need to do is click on actions,click on publish,and what this will do is um,what this will do is move it to the main,area,so from here on you can,customize your team let's say you,want to use a team but have another,brand you can customize the team right,here,and it will immediately show up at,your url your domain name or your,shopify,store domain name so that's about it,it's pretty simple,pretty straightforward i hope this video,helped you guys out,if you have any further questions about,shopify or,anything else just let me know in the,comments below,and i'm more than happy to help you guys,out in the comment section,and also make a video about it when,that's mandatory,so that's about it for today guys i hope,you
