in this video i'm going to show you how,to modify and edit the home page,for the shopify expanse theme this is a,paid theme,available on the shopify app store and,other places online i'm going to show,you how to edit this banner,the navigation here top header,these items here scrolling down your,messaging,how to change all of this select it,testimonials footer etc okay so the,first thing we're going to do,is we're going to log in to the shopify,admin,i'm already logged in so it's going to,take me right in,okay so you're going to see some things,you may see these where it says,customize theme,add domain name etc we're going to go,ahead and click on online store,we're not going to worry about any of,these other items right now,we're just going to go to online store,if at any time during the time that i'm,actually working on this,if i wanted to preview this what i,usually do is i'll keep,one uh window open here like this and,then i'll go ahead,and select customize i right click on it,and open it up in a new tab,just so i have access to come back to,this section and i have to go back and,forth you know uh to change things,so uh right now i'm gonna go ahead and,just keep the website here,now if we look at this,expanse was already installed,and we've configured it we've actually,made these banners,made the images,jeez pms,okay so now we've logged in we actually,clicked on the customizer,and we're in the back and if you notice,over here on the right hand side,we have some things we can do some quick,keyboard shortcuts and things like that,you can mess around with that later,if we scroll down on the center here,you'll see,your website okay now um if you,look up here you have homepage products,collections we'll get into this later,but you can actually edit these directly,as well there's only a couple of options,available for each one,um the only page that has this like,wysiwyg,editor is the home page so the internal,pages do not,right so that's why you either need to,pick a theme that you like that has a,cool,you know collection page a cool product,page things like that,or pick a theme generic theme and then,add to it with code,or apps okay a cool thing about shopify,is it does have this ability right here,to go ahead and click on and look at how,your website would look into mobile,so you can go ahead and look at that,while you're actually playing around,with it click on desktop and if you,click on full screen,it gets rid of all the menus together so,we're gonna go back to desktop,and this announcement bar here so this,announcement bar at the top we go ahead,and click on that,and shopify just changed the way it has,this whole it's called online 2.0,so now they have this whole new backend,you're going to want to click on the,actual,arrows now to do the drop downs well we,have messages,here that actually rotate for this,particular theme,so if you look at it when i click on,these they'll actually show up on the,right hand side here,so if you notice i can act

How To Edit Menus Expanse Theme Shopify

hello,in this video i'm going to show you how,to understand and to use menus,inside of the expanse theme for shopify,which you have,so you have this top menu which is your,primary or main navigation menu,and then if you scroll to the bottom you,have multiple menus here,so this looks like one footer but this,is really one menu and then this is one,menu,so all the items at the top here,currently are,all set as collections okay,so you can actually add pages or,collections or,directly link to products from your,menus,so if you scroll down to the bottom here,you'll actually see that about us as a,page,store locations is a page page page,my account is a default url for shopify,this is a page customer service is a,page,fax is a page and order status is them,logging in and looking at their status,so these are all pages same thing with,the privacy policy if you actually click,on about us for instance,you'll see up here in the url where it,changes to pages,now we click on apparel you'll notice,this changes to collection,and if i click on a product you'll,notice it changes to collections,apparel products so there's my,collection there's my subcategory for it,and then there is my,product so,if you look at this and you go ahead and,click on apparel,you'll notice this menu on the left hand,side loads,so if you see this menu these are all,individual menus,so there's not just one menu that,controls this these are all menus,there's a menu for new and featured,there's a menu for maryland apparel,there's a menu for cookbooks,there's a menu for crabby items most,stores are not like this but in order to,get this kind of functionality we have,to do it this way,okay usually you have one menu then you,have everything in that menu,in order to control it this way we need,to create sub menus,let's log into the back end of shopify,we're going to go to online store,once that's selected we click on,navigation,and now you'll see all these menus in,here these are all the things that we,created for,this store so we're looking for,something called main menu,and here we go so this is the top,navigation menu for your store,shop all products if i click on edit it,actually links to all products,say i wanted to link that somewhere else,i can turn that off,i go ahead and click in there and i can,start typing,all products and my collections,all collections shop catalog,all products,products all products,so they are different just so you know,okay apply changes,now if i do change anything remember i'm,going through and i'm changing all these,once i'm finished i'm going to want to,hit save,if i scroll down here you'll see these,little arrows next to,the menu items these are the drop-down,items,underneath your menu,if i go ahead and select that there's,men's women's children's,i'll say for instance i want women's,above men's i can just go ahead and,simply,click and drag it notice how that blue,bar shows up so if i actually move it,off to something else accidentally,i just have to simply dr

creating custom page templates in the,latest version of our themes has never,been easier the question does come up,quite a bit how do i create unique,content for different pages,in this example i'm going to show you,how to create your own custom layouts,that can then be used to show unique,content on different pages,if we open up the theme editor,you'll see that,all of our themes ship with pre-made,templates to help get you started these,are all included with the expanse,impulse,motion and streamline themes the full,width template will give you a wider,full width page layout to start with,the faq template comes pre-configured,with sections and blocks to build out,your frequently asked questions page,the contact template makes it easy for,visitors to contact you through,pre-built product form,and the about us template is great for,letting visitors know more details about,you and your story,in today's example i have two different,pages that i want to show unique,sections and content on so this will,require us to create two unique page,templates,so the way we do that,is we come and select create template,and we'll call this first one,page one,and we're going to base this template on,the default page template,we can actually use any of the,pre-existing but we'll use default,and we'll say create template,and that really is all there is to it,we've just created the page and so now,what's left to do is just to add in the,sections and blocks and the content that,we want to build out as page,so,you'll notice here that i've got page,disabled,oops,so if i had,content on the page that i wanted to,display as well,i could do it there,for this,i actually want to hide it,and we're going to add in,about a hero section,let's go grab an image,we'll add in,an image with text section,so,and then lastly,this would be a great opportunity,to showcase some product,so we'll add a featured collection,section,say about there,perfect so now we're going to jump out,of the theme editor just a moment,and we're going to come to pages,and we're going to assign the page,template that we just created,to this new page,and so if we view this page,we've got our hero,section our image with text,then our feed collection,perfect,so now let's jump back in the theme,editor and we'll do this one more time,so we'll come back to pages,create template,and we'll call this,page two we're going to stick with the,default page as the,the basis,and again i'm going to create a page,where i hide the page content,we're going to do stick with just,sections from it,i'm going to add in another hero,we'll just use one block so i'm going to,remove this block,and we're going to adjust this heuristic,height,there we go so i can get everybody in,there,and then we'll add one more image with,text,let's change it up though let's flip it,around oops,we'll add in two on this one,and we'll save this,unlike the other one we'll add in a,featured collection section,so we can show some products,perfect so now let's jump

How To Add a Product Expanse Theme Shopify

today i'm going to show you how to add a,product to the expanse theme for shopify,and then assign it to a collection for,sale so we're going to log into our,store,go ahead and click on products and we,don't have uh,the product that we need in here so,we're going to go ahead and add one,click on add product,and we're just going to use obey old bay,test,okay so i want to put in my description,here all day,test description,etc etc etc you can play around with the,size if you want to make this a heading,now remember that this is a product this,is going to be the heading one so for,search engine optimization you don't,want to make this adding one,you want to make that heading two or a,heading three or heading four then you,can bold it,and play around that way okay unbold it,you could link it italicize it if you,wanted to link it to something else you,could,you got to know what the link is to,paste it in there you could justify it,left,right you can make it bullets if you,want play around with that and there's,some other items here images you could,also insert another image if you wanted,to down below here,and we'll just do it just for,instructional purposes i'm going to go,ahead and grab,let me grab the product product image,and i'll just grab this mug here insert,and that's going to throw an image in,here,as well here we go and then remember the,images you're always wanting to click on,them there we go,all right so now the image is in there,um it's,for sale in the online store but it's,not showing on my store yet because i,have it in draft mode,once i select it to active it'll be,available on my store so you can go in,here and add a bunch of products,keep them in draft mode and then you can,schedule when they're going to be,available,or you can just make them available when,you're ready so in this case as old bay,test it's an actual product type is a,seasoning,so i'm just going to type in seasoning,you don't really have to do this if you,don't want to but it just helps later on,if you're trying to search for things,vendor,could be old day right or it could be,the maryland store,whatever you want so i want to put this,under a couple of different collections,i want this product to show,under different categories collections,etc so i wanted to show under seasoning,so old bay seasoning i want to show crab,seasoning crab and more,so now i don't have to go into each of,those collections and assign the product,right so i just assigned all three of,those collections,all this product all three of these,collections uh tagging is usually for,yourself for internal purposes or for,using it for search engine optimization,if you are displaying tags on the front,end of the website,you can call this old bay seasoning,season name and you click on that for,adding old bay,online store theme template this has a,couple of different templates you can,tinker around with and play with if you,want to,right now if i go ahead and view this i,can i need to save the product,first

How to Create Manual Collection Shopify Expanse Theme

uh in this video i'm going to show you,how to add a new collection,assign some products to it and then add,it,to one of the menus the header menu,making life easier so say for instance,you want to add a new collection to your,store,you're going to click on products you,click on collections,collections are categories and i'm just,going to call this,test okay for my collection so create,collection,i want to call it test so here,i have the ability to put in any kind of,copy that's going to show up on the top,of the actual,category page so i'm just going to put,the,this is my test description,you don't need to actually put in the,collection image if you don't want to,it's not used anywhere in the store so,you really don't need to put that in,there,will be available on one sales channel,right now it's just your online store,we can get into sales channels later but,once you start adding facebook or,google merchant or anything else you're,going to sell you're going to sell your,product,then you'll have the ability to place,a product for sale in one or all or,a few of the stores so say for instance,you wanted to sell it on,just on your website and on facebook but,not on google you can do that,so or the same thing with instagram so,you can go through and check the boxes,off of,where you want the product to be sold so,maybe you don't want it sold on facebook,maybe you don't want it sold on,google but you do want to sell it on,your own website so you would actually,control,the product availability and the,collection availability,um via this online store channel here,now,automated collections if i was to,actually create this as an automated,collection,and i have the ability that whenever i,add,or any new product or if there's any,existing products,and they have a product tag say for,instance the product tag,is test anything that has the product,tag test will automatically be assigned,to this collection,that's pretty cool you can do the same,thing with the product title or the,price,or compare whatever you wanted to do,right that was going to be the same,thing,so it could be the same thing as so say,the product tag is equal to test,right and then if i did this and save,this any products that have,that are tagged with test would,automatically assign this collection,now the caveat the downfall with,automated collections is that,you can't manually add a product to it,okay you cannot add a product to it,manually,so you have to decide whether you're,going to do it manually or automated i,always just stick to manual,just to make your life a lot easier you,can control the store a lot better,so we're gonna go ahead and click on,manual so that we can manually assign,uh the uh we can manually assign,the products to this store uh to the,collection,so that we i like to use one two three,i like to use manual so that i can,completely,control the products that are going to,be assigned,to this collection so i'm gonna go ahead,and save this so now i've saved it as a,manual co

creating custom product templates in the,latest versions of our themes has never,been easier,the question does come up quite a bit,how do i create unique content for,different products in this example i'm,going to show you how to create your own,custom layouts that can then be used to,show unique product specific content on,your product pages,if we open up the theme editor you'll,see that all of our themes ship with,pre-made templates to help get you,started,they're all included with the expanse,impulse motion and streamline themes,the first,product landing will give you a,marketing heavy landing page layout to,start with,the pre-order template lets your,customers order products that aren't,available yet,the gift card template it's a simpler,layout for your gift cards and then,lastly brand story is great for sealing,the deal by beautifully explaining what,sets your brand apart,in today's example i have two different,products made by two different designers,and i want to highlight the design story,on the product page unique to their,particular product,so this will require two unique product,templates,to create a product template we simply,create template,and we give this template a name,and i'm going to name these after,the designer,and then we can actually reference any,of the pre-built templates,as the basis for our new one and in this,example we're going to base it on the,default product template,we click create template,and that's literally all there is to it,we now have a brand new product inky,product template,and so again for this example i'm going,to add,an image with text section,and i want this to appear,a little bit higher up on the page,directly underneath,the product description,and,here we're going to add an image,we're going to add,some details,about the designer,perfect,so we'll save this to the template,and so now we're going to briefly jump,out of the theme editor into the admin,we'll come to this product,since this is designed by gee,assign that template to that product,so now when i view the product page,i have the designer details as a part of,that story,so now we just need to repeat this,process,for our second template,so we'll come back into the editor,to products we see our product,inky tab or template i should say,and we're actually going to use it,as the basis,for this,second template,that'll save us a step so that we don't,have to add any of the additional,image with text section we just need to,update this content,so we're going to swap this image,to be that of our secondary designer,and we'll swap this around so the image,appears on the left,with the designer details on the right,and we will save this template,perfect,and now again we'll jump out of the,editor,and we'll go back,into the admin,and we will,assign this template,to this product,perfect,and so now,when i come in and view these different,sunglasses,here's this product,with their designer information,and here's this product,with this designer's information,an

Shopify 2.0 Templates Tutorial - Create Different Layouts for Product Pages & Collection Pages

all right what's up guys i did a poll,recently on my youtube channel where i,asked what my next video topic should be,and the most voted for topic was shopify,2.0 so today i want to talk about page,templates which is a new feature of,shopify 2.0 that many people aren't,using yet it's a really underrated,feature and it can really be quite,powerful one of the most common,questions that i get on my channel when,i talk about adding a specific feature,to a product page,is how can i add this to one product,but not to another product right how can,i add a feature to one product page,without affecting the rest of the,products on my store and a good example,of this is this tutorial where i showed,you how to add a gift message field to a,product so obviously this is for,products that have some kind of note,attached to them or maybe they have an,engraving or maybe there's something,written on the shirt whatever it's a,customizable product right and maybe not,all your products are like this maybe,not all your products are customizable,so you want to add this on one product,but not on another type of product and,that's really easy to do in shopify 2.0,you just have to use page templates so,i'm going to show you how to do that,today another good use of page templates,is to make a completely different design,for different product pages so you may,have some products which are like your,flagship products your main products,and you have a lot more to say about,them right you have you want to talk,about their features a lot more so the,example that i've got here is all birds,you know they've got their merino wool,or or tree actually tree fabric sneakers,and they have this product page right,the top of it is a typical shopify,product page but then they've got these,extra features that they want to talk,about below and we can do this now,thanks to shopify 2.0 and sections,everywhere you know how previously you,only had sections on the home page now,you have them on every page so you can,add sections,underneath your main product section on,your product page but maybe you don't,need that for all products so here,they've got their beanie and you know,they just don't have that much to say,about the beanie because the beanie is,like not their main thing their main,thing is sneakers so they have these two,different product page templates one for,the shoes and probably the other one is,just the default product template for,regular products and you know this,doesn't have to be limited to just,product pages either so here they have a,collection page which is like your,typical shopify collection page right,you have a product grid and you have,your filters on the left here but they,also have this other collection page,under new arrivals when you click on,warm weather,they have collection pages with this,nice image banner and look this is for,warm weather and it's really warm image,it really gives the mood and they have,this kind of image banner for every type,of collection that
