all right guys so in this video i'm,going to be showing you how you can go,ahead and, customize your debut theme within, shopify so debut theme,is the theme that all shopify stores, start out with,by default when you go ahead and start a,shopify store and if you haven't already, opened your shopify store yet you can, start your 14 day free trial by clicking, the first link in the description,so i figured i'd make this video because, debut theme,is one of the most commonly used themes, because it's the one that all stores, start out with and the view theme, actually looks, really good so right here we can see, that this is what debut theme looks like, when it's first installed with, absolutely nothing filled out,so we can see that we have where our, logo should be,we have a big header right here with, some text we have an image here,we have three images with text below, here we have,a uh empty collection and we have, another,um header type image right here another, wallpaper image,we have some testimonials and we have, three images down here, and then we have the footer so,right now we have a nice little template, but it's blank,so if you're looking to go ahead and, fill out, your um store using debut theme, the first thing you're going to want to,make sure you have is,a few key things so i'm going to bring,up a notepad and just make sure, because before you go ahead and start, the design process you're going to need,a couple things so the first one is,going to be a logo,so i assume you already have a logo at,this point if you're ready to start your, store design but if not, then make sure you get a logo first, because everything else is going to be,based around the logo, and then we're going to have a color, scheme selected, and normally this color scheme is going,to,be derived from colors from your logo, and typically, you're going to use one to two colors,to base your entire store around and, like i said these colors will be derived, from the logo and the next thing we're,going to need,is a couple wallpaper photos,so we can see we're going to need some, photos to go ahead and put back here in,this header,we need some photos to put back here and, this header as well,so if you have any large photos related,to your business,go ahead and upload them to your, computer or,put them all in one folder so we can go,ahead and,use them as backgrounds here and if you, don't you can use, different sites such as pixabay,to find free stock images that you can,go ahead and use,so let's just type in something like, fishing,so if you had a store related to fishing, you could go ahead and just, look for different stock photos here,or maybe you have something related to,yoga,or fitness you can type in a lot,of different niches depending on what, your store is based around, and you can use some of these wallpapers,to go ahead and put back here, now obviously i do think it's better if,you have your own, custom photos but uh you know not, everyone's gonna have that starting out,so if you don't you can go ahead and us

Shopify Code Editing: How to Change the Layout of a Product Collection for Debut Theme?
Shopify Code Editing: How to Change the Layout of a Product Collection for Debut Theme?
hello everyone welcome back to the, channel, today i am going to talk about another, common issue people had in customizing, their shopify store, let's take my shopify store as an,example i have a featured collection on,the home page and there are four, products in the collection, however i don't think the fact that, three products are in the first row but, only one product in the second row, when it is on the desktop i would like,to put the four products in the same row,so it looks nicer and more organized, let's go to the mobile view to see what, does it look like,it shows two products on mobile so it,seems to me to that each product image,is too small,so for mobile device i would like to,change it to have only one product per, row, how would i do that, first let's find those elements for the, products inside the featured collections,in the html inspector,we can see the four elements here are,for the four products if you take a look,at their css, class names you will find there are two, special ones, small one half and medium up one third, which means when users are browsing with,a small screen like a mobile device, each element takes half of the total, width and when users are browsing with a,medium or large screen like a tablet or,desktop, each element takes one third of the, total width, let's go back to our code editor and, update the code from there, search collection in the search box and, click the collection.liquid file under, sections, scroll down a bit you will find exactly, the same text string we talked about, small one half and medium up one-third,this is actually passed into a variable, called grid item width,if you search this variable you will, find that it is being written into the, class name of a html element which, represents one of the featured products, now we know where in the code we should, update,in order to show one product per row, instead of two in a small screen,we can simply remove small one half from, the class name, since by default it is one element per, row, and to show four products per row on a,medium or large screen,we can change medium up one third to,medium up one quarter, which means each element takes one, quarter of the total width, let's save the changes to the code and,go back our shopify store home page, now we have all the four products are, rendered in the same row in the medium, screen, let's see what shows on the mobile, device as expected, each row has only one product that is,all for today's video if you enjoy the, video, please give us a like or subscribe to,the channel see you next time

Shopify 2.0 Templates Tutorial - Create Different Layouts for Product Pages & Collection Pages
Shopify 2.0 Templates Tutorial - Create Different Layouts for Product Pages & Collection Pages
all right what's up guys i did a poll, recently on my youtube channel where i,asked what my next video topic should be,and the most voted for topic was shopify,2.0 so today i want to talk about page, templates which is a new feature of,shopify 2.0 that many people aren't,using yet it's a really underrated, feature and it can really be quite, powerful one of the most common, questions that i get on my channel when,i talk about adding a specific feature,to a product page,is how can i add this to one product, but not to another product right how can,i add a feature to one product page, without affecting the rest of the, products on my store and a good example,of this is this tutorial where i showed, you how to add a gift message field to a,product so obviously this is for, products that have some kind of note, attached to them or maybe they have an,engraving or maybe there's something, written on the shirt whatever it's a,customizable product right and maybe not,all your products are like this maybe, not all your products are customizable,so you want to add this on one product, but not on another type of product and, that's really easy to do in shopify 2.0,you just have to use page templates so,i'm going to show you how to do that, today another good use of page templates,is to make a completely different design, for different product pages so you may, have some products which are like your, flagship products your main products, and you have a lot more to say about, them right you have you want to talk, about their features a lot more so the, example that i've got here is all birds, you know they've got their merino wool,or or tree actually tree fabric sneakers, and they have this product page right, the top of it is a typical shopify, product page but then they've got these, extra features that they want to talk, about below and we can do this now, thanks to shopify 2.0 and sections, everywhere you know how previously you, only had sections on the home page now,you have them on every page so you can,add sections, underneath your main product section on,your product page but maybe you don't,need that for all products so here, they've got their beanie and you know, they just don't have that much to say, about the beanie because the beanie is,like not their main thing their main, thing is sneakers so they have these two, different product page templates one for,the shoes and probably the other one is,just the default product template for, regular products and you know this, doesn't have to be limited to just, product pages either so here they have a,collection page which is like your, typical shopify collection page right, you have a product grid and you have, your filters on the left here but they, also have this other collection page, under new arrivals when you click on,warm weather, they have collection pages with this, nice image banner and look this is for, warm weather and it's really warm image,it really gives the mood and they have, this kind of image banner for every type,of collection that

How To Customize The Default Collection Page in Shopify
How To Customize The Default Collection Page in Shopify
hello people of the Internet Simon here, again with that another,EECOM secret this time it's a Shopify, secret it's how to organize and remove, and add collections from this built-in,collection page within your Shopify, store, okay those of you that are familiar with, this this page there's a built-in polite, page called collections and it's where,Shopify will display every single, collection from your store I want to see, every single collection that's what I,mean, every single one maybe it's a test, collection maybe it's a collection that, you use into a price filtering in a,sidebar navigation whatever and it will, also put these in alphabetical order and,it might be that you might want to,change this so I'm going to show you how,we can change the order and how we can,add and remove collections from this,built-in collection page now not every,Shopify theme is compatible with this, change so in the final stages of this, video there might be a little code edit, that we need to make but the first thing, you need to do really is to test this, you to go in make this change then I'm,going to show you and then if it doesn't,work we can then go out and and make, those code edit changes so the first, thing needs to do is go into the Shopify, administration we're going to go online, store and then we're going to go,navigation and we're going to create a,new menu and this menu is going to be,called all collections not sure if it's,case sensitive but iOS co is okay see,we'll just add a couple of menu items, into this and we're going to make these, menu items to link to collections so if,I have the first one there's added ass, think and remember these is one for, night so we'll link that to a collection,of night, and I think final one maybe is Converse, going to go to collection and or final, collection converse and save that new, menu so all we've done is created a,brand new menu we've called it all, collections and we've added in the, collections that we want to see in our,new whole collections menu so if you, remember the previous view on this we've,got the built in collection page we've,got all our collections hopefully now, that I've remade this in there we've got, added s naik converse exactly as we want, them we can reorder those we can add we,can delete and what that will do is that, built in collection page is now, customizable but that's it now if that, doesn't work for you so if you've made, this menu item and you come to your, collection page and they don't update, that's probably because your theme isn't,compatible with that change so you will, need to make another edit and to do that, what we need to do is we need to go into, the editor so we'll go into the HTML CSS,editor of our theme and we're going to,look for lists it is called list, collections here we go,now the line you'll be looking for will, say look like that so that's the line, that you'll be looking for now I'll put, this in in the footer of the video if,you find this line in your list -,collections liquid you need to replace,it

Add a new page in Shopify | Preview the default Shopify page template
Add a new page in Shopify | Preview the default Shopify page template
hi and welcome back in this video i'll,be showing you how to create a new page, for your website in particular i'll be,creating an about page for my,demonstration business i'll start by,showing you how the page template is,used and once you understand the page, template i'll then go on to show you how,to add the page content, now although i'm creating an about page,in this lesson you'll be able to use the, same techniques to create any additional, pages on your site, okay so let's head over to shopify and,get started,to begin i'm going to share the default, page template that will be used whenever, you create a new page,so if i click on online store in the, left hand menu, and then the insuring theme is selected,i'll go ahead and click customize for my,current theme, from the template drop down menu i'll,click on pages and as you can see the, theme has two page templates, one of which is for a contact page and,the other is a default,at this lesson i'll be discussing the, default page so i'll click on that, template,to understand the structure of this, template you'll need to look at the left, hand side of the screen, and here you'll see that each template,is made up of three components namely a,page header body and footer, with each component separated by the, horizontal lines,as the header and footer components will, affect the entire website i can ignore, these and instead i'll just focus on the, body part of the page,in this case you'll see that the section, used is a very simple one with no,customizable settings as can be seen, when i click on the page section header, and look to the right hand side of the, screen,so what this means is that the default, page template will be using the page, title and content that will be entered, when each page is created,if the theme you're using is an online, store 2 theme then you could of course, add more sections by clicking add, section,or you can create another template which, will provide further page layouts, for now i'll keep the page template as,it is and return back to the admin area, now the reason i've shown you the, template was so that you could, understand how a page is made up,going forwards however you would not, need to work for the previous steps and, instead start from this point onwards, okay to add a page i'll click on pages, from within the online store menu, here you'll see a list of all the pages, currently created,i'll be coming back to discuss the, contact page in the next lesson so as,this lesson is focusing on the creation,of an about page i'll click on add page,in the top right hand corner,as you can now see there are only a few, fields that will require completing to,add a page so to start i'll begin with, the page title which in this case will,be about, content is where all the work will be,done for this page, here i'll enter some text about myself, and the business i would also advise, including an image or video just to make, the page a bit more personal, for my page i will add an image by,clicking on the insert image icon an
