okay this morning we're going to talk, about how to actually edit the CSS,styles inside Shopify now typically we,talk about how to mount it by liquid, code and how to change things in the, theme settings but the other day I,realized that it might be a good idea, just to show you guys how to change, basic CSS inside the dashboard so if we,hop over to the screen now I'm not going,to go over how to use the Google, inspector and how to actually learn CSS,I'm gonna make the assumption that you, know how to modify CSS and you're gonna, need to know how to where to go inside,Shopify in order to make the actual, change because the dashboard is,constantly changing and they're making, updates to it things can move around and, they may not be where you would expect, them so if we're on our dashboard and we,go to online store and then we come up,with the drop down below it,we'd have themes and if we go to themes,we're gonna get all of our current, themes that are installed on our store, now Shopify allows you to install, multiple themes so that you can test out, different versions of your website, without modifying the live version so,what I usually recommend is you take, your live versions so say for example we,have pipeline version 4.3.2 and we,duplicate it the reason we want to do,this is in case we make any errors, inside modify the CSS we don't want it,to affect our live users now I'm working,on a demo store so it's not that big of,a deal because I'm the only person who,can see it but once you launch your, store you want to be able to go and make, changes to your online store and then, once all your changes are approved and, they are set properly you can go back in,and you,and publish them so after I've copied, out my theme I usually like to go and, rename it and I rename it to the name of,the theme and I call it development now,the way I work is if there is a,development theme that exists on the, store that's where I'm making all the, changes once I'm finished with the, development team what I will do is I,will publish the development theme I,will rename the active theme to the date, that I published it as you can see down, here and then I will rename development,to active so if it ever gets unpublished,I know exactly which team needs to get, published back up again to restore, changes so now that I've created, development theme I want to go to,actions and I want to go to edit code, and what this is gonna do is it's gonna, take us into the theme editor now it's,gonna take us not to the theme, customizer it's important not to get the,two confused so if we have a look at,customize theme we can see the theme, customizer which is where Shopify really, directs you to try and go and make, changes to your site because it has all,of the built in sections that are, already available for shop by which a,drag and drop which are easy to use but,for advanced users you want to be able,to get to your coat and that is done, through that Actions menu now once, you're into the theme editor you have a,bunch of f

Custom Shopify Theme
Custom Shopify Theme
what's up everyone this is seth with the, landing page dude and today i'm going to,be showing you a theme we helped, developed for our swedish friends and, client the friendly fat company, what you're looking at is a custom theme, developed into shopify,it's customer centric,it's mobile first, and of course it's conversion focused, you can tell from all the detail and, efforts on this theme, that it's built around the customer, journey, from the product photography, down to the artwork, what i love most about this homepage is,that it's simple, yeah it's informative it covers, everything you need to know it doesn't,just sell you sell you sell you which, you see on a lot of shopify, websites but it educates you it informs, you it shows you what they're selling it,has their social proof,it also has their arguments it's,almost like an advertorial laid out, beautifully on a home page, the next page i'm going to show you, actually before i do that i want to show, you on mobile, the importance of being mobile first,so as soon as you land you can see this,is an optimized hero it's designed, specifically for the mobile viewport and, what you have is the product content, right and above fold right in frame with,a simple heading and a call to action,it's beautiful it's simple and it's,crisp and of course as you scroll down,it's just a very nice journey that is,big clear minimal and optimized, absolutely stunning, now on the product page, the first thing you'll notice is,everything is in frame, everything's above fold you're able to,see the product the description and all,of the benefits that is crucial because,it leads to higher conversion rates it's,not just it's not just a design, aesthetic but it builds credibility and,it's more digestible so when your, customers are scrolling on mobile or,desktop that's where you're going to be,able to lift those conversion rates,as you scroll down again it's very, simple but, very, informative we're talking about the, features, and keep note of all the awesome content, the benefits, the arguments the why you should use it,the instructions, the social proof the faqs, and of course the,the reviews followed by that sticky at,the cart, zero chance a customer is landing on,this product page, and leaving or dropping off because, something is not clear or they have, questions this is the perfect product, page in terms of structuring on what you, should be delivering to your customer, you know in terms of content, from, informative content to the custom, content and that's a question i get all,the time so when you're looking at these, renders right now a lot of this is done,in in 3d in photoshop and in other apps,so if you are a supplement company and,one of the, driving factors and why you're,hesitating to go towards a custom theme,is you may not have this type of content, then you have two options you can go and,pay and get the custom product, photography which of course is amazing,if you have the budget or,you can get it done in 3d which we do,for a lot of brands and to be hone

Shopify Liquid Theme Programming for beginners
Shopify Liquid Theme Programming for beginners
liquid a server-side templating language, designed by shopify for building themes, and page templates, but what does that even mean let me,explain, okay so every web page on the internet,is made up of just three things, there's html, css, and maybe some javascript, but nothing else, the way these three technologies come, together is that html is like the, skeleton or the building blocks of a,website, css takes care of the styling so this is,where things get arranged and start to,look good, and then javascript is like the muscles,of a website so this is where things, become really interactive, okay now if you ever try to build a site, from scratch using html css and, javascript, then you already know that it can be,quite a bit of work, you have to write all the code things, need to be tested debugged adjusted and,so forth and then you only end up with, one single page but if we're talking, about an entire website that could mean, multiple pages or in the case of an,online store it could actually mean, hundreds or thousands of different pages,if the store had a ton of different, products for example and then coding all, these different pages would not only be,extremely time consuming it would also,be very hard to maintain, because let's say we somehow managed to,create 1 000 different files for 1 000,different product pages just imagine, that in the future someone wants us to,make a simple change to all of them we,would be busy the entire day just doing, the same change over and over and over, again on all these different product, pages and of course i don't know about, you but personally i don't know a single, developer who would enjoy doing that,so the question really becomes is there, potentially a better way,and you know what now that we talk about,it,all these different different product, pages actually look suspiciously similar,to me i mean maybe it's just me but they, all have a title a prize maybe some, images so in essence they're really not, that different from each other right and, maybe also instead of having a thousand, different pages with these hard-coded,values,wouldn't it be cool if we just had one, single template file that works for all,the different products because then we,just need to create the page once and,for the price the title etc we would, then need some sort of a dynamic, placeholder so that we can grab the, right data depending on the product, that's currently viewed and this product, data is available on the shopify backend, anyway, and believe it or not that's exactly, what shopify liquid is,it's a server-side templating language, for building themes and page templates, and you could say it creates a bridge, between your html files and the data of,a store,so that one single template file works, with multiple objects of the same kind,in this example it was products but of,course we could also make the same case, for other types of objects for instance, all the collections are similar, collection template or all the block, articles are similar they all have a,title some con

WickeDesigns 👉 How to add custom fonts to a shopify theme
WickeDesigns 👉 How to add custom fonts to a shopify theme
want to add a custom font to your,Shopify store I have found a few, tutorials recently but I didn't find, that they were quite up to date with the,Shopify that I was using so if you log, into your Shopify and go to your store, you'll want to preview your online store, first that way you can have a look at,which CSS you will be targeting to,change the font so I'm gonna look at the, headings so if you control right click, and inspect you should be able to find, that the section I'm looking at it will, highlight there we go then I want to,find the header right so I'll be looking,at the headers anyway so that's quite, easy but if there's any other font that, you want to change your meticulous you,can go through the code this way and, find out what the class is that you'll,be targeting so go back to Shopify now,I'll just go to home so you can see it,again so what you want to do is go to,your theme edit code now that's just, open straightaway for me but if that's,all collapse it will be under your, assets so assets and you'll be looking, for the theme SCSS liquid, file now that that's opened I'm going to,go to a site called font squirrel so you,can type that in ivory in there recently,as you can see so go to the web font, generator I I just leave it as optimal, let's find a font that I have recently, downloaded which was Appleton, this one's a licensed one so just make, sure that you have a license or it's,free to use open and yes it did sorry, okay and I'll open zip that way it's all, already on zipped ready to use so,there's two file well three files in,there that I'll be using the first two,are the ones that we'll need to add into, the assets folder in the Shopify and, third one is where we will get the code, that we'll need to copy and paste into, the theme file so let's go back to,Shopify in the same folder assets folder, you want to go add new asset select your, latest files so I think where is it gone,I've downloaded a few times recently so,you want to download each of those files,so that'll be done separately so second, one asset then if you go to I'm just, gonna go file open and have a look at,the CSS sheet that was downloaded with, that web font generator from font, squirrel and you're basically just, copying and pasting this code so command,C on Mac and oops I've shut the page I,needed instead of hoping your new one so,I'll just go back there so we're in the, theme s CSS and I I just pop it down the, bottom so scroll to the very bottom of,the,Paige control-v on Mac to paste save, that just check that those files are, still there because I accept my close, that in assets yes they're still there, great so using command F to find the CSS,selector I am going with headings so,I'll just type h1 for example that, should what's happened here I think I'm,on the wrong page there we go so I'm,looking for h1 okay what you want to do,is pop in the name of the font that, you've just downloaded now if you want,to make sure it's exactly the same which,I would recommend otherwise that's not, gonna wo

Shopify CLI for Theme Development (How to use)
Shopify CLI for Theme Development (How to use)
hey everyone in this video we're going,to talk about shopify cli for themes, shopify cli stands for shopify command, line interface and is the latest, alternative to shopify theme kit, previously shopify cli was a tool that, helped users create and deploy shopify, apps but since the online store 2.0,announcements in june 2021 shopify have, extended the shopify cli to provide new, functions for theme development, including the ability to serve themes, locally,so in this video let's talk about how,the shopify cli works and how to include,it into your theme development workflow, before we get started talking about how,to use the shopify cli for theme, development i want to provide some, context here and talk about where this, tool fits in compared to the other, previous tools for developing shopify, themes, when i first started shopify theme, development back in 2019 there were two, tools available slate and theme kit,i believe it was theme kit that came, first but at shopify unite 2017 shopify, announced something called slate a new, build tool for shopify themes intended,to provide a more developer friendly, scaffold for building themes, slate did have some good points such as,the ability to split up scss into, multiple modular files and update css, changes locally but over time shopify, decided not to maintain the project and, eventually announced that they were, officially ending support for slate in,january 2020. therefore slate is not a,tool i recommend to anyone anymore in my,opinion the only reason to use slate is,if you have to i.e you have an existing, slate project that you're unable to or,unwilling to migrate that left us with, themekit a simple tool for uploading and, downloading theme files from your, shopify store making it possible to work,on themes locally, and now the latest option which is to,use the shopify cli for theme, development, chances are if you're watching this, video close to the release date you, might be using shopify themekit as,mentioned shopify themekit is a simple, tool for uploading and downloading theme, code from themes already hosted on your, shopify store we can do a one-time,download from themekit or a one-time,upload from themekit or we can run the, command theme watch and allow themekit,to detect and upload changes to the, theme as it exists on the shopify store,as soon as they happen for a full, tutorial on shopify themekit check out,the lesson in my skillshare class, shopify theme development how to build, and customize your own online store the, shopify cli by comparison is a bit, different with shopify cli you first, connect the tool to your online store by,running shopify login and from that, point you can begin to serve the theme, code you have on your computer locally, running shopify theme serve the cli will, take your theme code and generate a,development theme this development theme, will come with a theme id and a theme, editor but it won't exist in your, shopify store's theme library and it,will disappear after you run shopify, logout, running these s

How to create new Theme Sections and Blocks
How to create new Theme Sections and Blocks
hi everyone Jung here let's pitch Appa,Phi and today you will learn everything, about how to get started with Shopify, sections and how you can use them to,create new settings and new features for, your front-end customizer so you're,about to learn one of the key concepts,in Shopify should be a lot of fun let's,go all right as a starting point for, this video I already went ahead and, created two new page templates the first, one is called landing page one the, second one is called landing page two,and this is just a mock-up that gets,auto-generated when you create a new, page template then I went ahead and, added two pages page 1 and page 2 and I,applied these templates to the pages so,page one gets landing page 1 page 2 gets, landing page 2 and we could also view, these pages in the live customizer right, now they look super plain and they don't,have any settings in the live customizer, next I will go back to my theme files, and now I move through the sections, folder and in here we can create a new, section and maybe we can call it icons, with text create section and this will, generate some code for us as well but,you can remove everything except the, schema tag because right now we will, focus on that and you don't have to,worry about anything in here this is,just some data written in the JSON,format but we will get to that in a,minute for now we can just give it a,meaningful name and we can give it a,different name from the file name so,that you can see where the file name met,us and where this one will come into, play so for now we could do icons with, text above or something and then save, the new section and for now we can leave, the section as it is but we will include,it in our landing page templates so,below the page content I will do a curly, bracket followed by percentage sign and, then section and now the file name, matters so icons - with - text and, there's no need for the liquid extension, and then percentage sign curly bracket, and I will just copy this save the fire, and edit to the second landing page, template as well, after a quick page refresh on the,front-end you would already see our new, section icons with text above available,in the customizer but right now the, settings are empty because we didn't add, anything but I hope you get the idea, that the schema tag or more precise the,JSON data within that schema tag is,related to what is being displayed in,the customizer and now we have to talk, about Jason a little bit more okay so,first of all Jason stands for JavaScript, object notation and that means it's a,structured way to write out objects and,in the real world you all know what an,object is but in the context of,programming an object in the simplest, form is just a meaningful collection of,data and to introduce you to this, concept I prepared two examples and the, first one is the object student so we,would start with a pair of curly, brackets to enclose at the object and,now we have to think of a set of data, that would represent the student in a,meaningful

12 - Shopify Dawn theme Code Review for Developers
12 - Shopify Dawn theme Code Review for Developers
hey welcome to another video in this, video i am going to review shopify down, theme behind the scene like we will, review the code how it is done and how,it is different than the way we are, going to do so it is very important to,understand why we change something, because of the the way it is done or be,because we can make it easier for, ourselves now if you come to the, documentation of shopify team on the, first step that you are initializing, your team shopify says that if you are, using down as a starting point, make sure it is different it is when you, submit it to the marketplace make sure,it is totally different that's why the, team that we are building is going to be,very different in the web down is in the, beginning of the video i said there are,a lot of codes and down that we are, going to remove and replace it with much, less code and it's going to be much, easier for us to maintain in the future,so let's check out behind the scene of,the css javascript and other structure,of the team so you can understand how, shopify developer did it and why the way,i do is at the other approach so if i,open the team that we have been working, and i'm going to start from css changes, the first thing i will open is,team.liquid, now if i scroll up in here one of the, things that you notice is they use a lot,of css variables now they assign this, variable in here for example the body, from family detected from the sitting, and this is great if someone is building, team for the marketplace and the user, who purchases the team is not going to,bother themselves editing the team,i have seen a lot of brand is going to,customize the theme based on their own, need they have their own design but this, theme that shopify built it is really, easy to customize from here if you click,on the theme setting from typography you, have to you have option to change any, phone you want for the body for the, colors again you have all these options, but if you are maintaining this thing, for yourself it is really hard because a,lot of these, colors that you see in here is what you,see and you don't have a lot of option,on them for example if you come to the, header and here you have background one, background too,and well the naming should be different, for example if you click inverse it will,go black instead of this, they could select a color picker like, background or foreground color for the, text something like that that would be,much easier for any brand to customize, but for now either the good, animals or they go with the same colors, that they have,it has also its own advantages one of,the main thing is like a lot of brand, when they install the team if they, select a color, the color should be accessible so this, color that shopify select by default in,here or very accessible but this is,really easy to change it from the, sitting and make the color different but, here's the thing like here is how it,works behind the scene if i scroll down, these are all the variables the css, variable that they can use throughout,
