foreign,do,hello,what is up everybody welcome back to,another live stream thanks for everybody,who showed up early i really appreciate,you guys hanging around through all the,intro music,now that we've got everything set up,let's talk a little bit about what we're,going to be covering today,and let me know in the chat if you guys,can hear me okay or if you guys have any,trouble whatsoever with the stream,um,but i'm very excited because today we're,going to be covering um how to use,liquid,so if you guys are not familiar with,what liquid is it is a templating,language uh that was created uh as an,open source templating language meaning,you can use it on any project but if you,guys are familiar with um shopify you'll,know that,liquid is the templating language used,for all shopify themes and websites,so,it's super super important for you guys,to understand how to use liquid if,you're going to be building your own,shopify themes or even if you just have,your own shopify store and you want to,make a few modifications here and there,so we have a lot of new shopify projects,coming up in the new year so i thought,what better time than now to sit down,and actually,learn how to use um the templating,language that runs the entire uh theme,development process for shopify,so what i'm going to do is i'm going to,go really quickly and roll the intro and,then we'll jump into my screen all right,let's go,all right so here i am uh this is a,shopify github repository that has a,bunch of information on liquid what i'm,going to do is i'm going to drop it over,in the chat,so that you guys can follow along but,we're going to be going through some of,the basics and talking through kind of,how everything works,and we're hopefully going to be writing,a little bit of code,to kind of,get up to speed on how liquid works so,let's go really quickly and just kind of,talk about the basics,and then we'll go and we'll get set up,to actually write some code,so,the three things that you need to know,about liquid is that it uses a,combination of objects tags,and filters inside of their template,files in order to display dynamic,content so essentially what's happening,and let's go into an actual,uh theme here so that we can take a look,and here i'm just on a blank uh dawn,theme that i installed really really,quickly right before this screen so,nothing really important here happening,if you don't have a shopify store to,follow along with i recommend that you,go and check out partners.shopify.com,you can join their partners program and,you can set up as many development,stores as you want 100 for free and you,don't have to pay until you're ready to,actually go and launch your store so,this is a really great way to get,practice on how to actually write,liquid code and more importantly,practicing,building your own themes or extending,the existing themes,without having to go and invest in you,know a host or a server or anything like,that which is really cool so here we've,got the dawn the

SHOPIFY LIQUID: Theme Programming for Beginners [CRASH COURSE]

alarm welcome to this crash course on,Shopify liquid the templating language,of Shopify themes first of all I want to,thank you for bearing with me over the,last three months it's been a busy three,months with the release of my latest,Skillshare class Shopify theme,programming which by the way the link is,in the description,but in today's video we're going to,cover an overview of Shopify liquid a,very practical run-through of what you,can do with Shopify liquid which you can,think of as the kind of back-end,programming language of Shopify themes,so this crash course is gonna be split,up into four four parts the first part,we're gonna cover the absolute basics,we're not even gonna touch the store,data just get you up to speed with some,of the syntax the second part we're,going to actually bring in some store,data and use liquid objects and in the,third section we are gonna incorporate,theme data so theme data allows us to,take user input from the admins of the,store they can customize their theme,using the customizer and then we can use,that data inside our themes very cool,feature of Shopify and the fourth and,final part I'll be talking about some of,the limitations of the templating,language what you can do and what you,can't do with Shopify liquid and also,covering an important topic within,Shopify liquid which is the topic of,scope we've got a lot to get through so,I'm gonna jump straight into the video,let's jump right into the computer and,get into it all right so we're now,inside my computer and we're looking at,the Shopify admin of my testing shop,Chris testing shop now if you haven't,done so already you can create your own,development store through your Shopify,partners account if you don't have a,partner account it's free to join you,just go to partners Shopify comm and,join now okay and the great thing about,a partner account is it allows you to,create what's called development stores,that are basically free store,that you can use as a development,environment to practice your programming,okay so that's the first thing you'll,need you'll need in an actual store and,the second thing you'll need if you want,to follow along is the theme I'm using,so you can use any theme to follow along,with in fact maybe it's the theme you're,working on right now but if we look at a,fully developed theme like debut for,instance there is a lot of code and,files here so I don't recommend if,you're trying to just learn Shopify,liquid that you work with a theme that's,already been built out because there's a,lot of HTML in here there's a lot of,different files and lines of code so my,recommendation is to start with a blank,theme and the theme that I use is the,one that you can generate through theme,kit using the theme new command what,I've done for this tutorial is I've,already generated that theme and I've,put it on my github page so if you just,want to download the theme it's at,github comm slash christopher dodd slash,Skillshare okay this is my resources f

Shopify Theme Review: Focal by Maestrooo [2022]

hey it's klaus here i haven't done a,theme review for shopify for a while and,as there are more and more,os 2.0 online shopping 2.0,themes are coming out i thought i will,do one for you this time so let's dive,right into it,so the theme that i'm looking at this,time is the focal theme by maestro some,of you might know that the warehouse,theme of maestro is one of my favorite,themes in the shopify universe,and so i thought this new theme that,they brought out,might be a good catch to see what they,have done so let's dive in here into the,demo store first and then we go into the,back end,the demo store itself you see here's,coming in three different styles if i'm,not completely wrong it's actually it's,four different styles so basically you,can choose from different color schemes,on the demo or on the theme itself,you see it has a pop-up integrated here,directly not the best way to work with,pop-ups here obviously but depending on,how you integrate your theme you might,get rid of this anyway and might,integrate a pop-up coming from for,instance clavio or any other kind of app,now let's be on the homepage here and,see what we have here so obviously we,have a hello bar notification bar right,up here interesting here they have a,slider in there see this one is actually,quite nicely done saves a lot of space,you can put in some more information,than just one line i think that's that's,very easily done so if you have um for,instance one more than one promotion,there or you want to mix it up with free,shipping notifications something like,that you can do this here so i like that,a lot,i like that the header is very narrow,one thing that i always recommend when i,do store reviews um website audits is,having a very narrow header so you want,to bring the main content high into the,browser window above the fold so that,people do not need to scroll down to see,the main content so that's nicely done,then we have here the navigation in this,color scheme actually quite nice high,contrast white text on black background,so easy to read easy on the eyes so,that's also very well done,simply also,enough space here to put enough menu,items in here my screen resolution is,1920 1080 so you see that might even,work with smaller ones,it seems so that they have a currency,converter in um included already that's,nice,here i have contact field something i,would not recommend but that seemingly,is an option in in their um in their,theme,er search icon um again not best,practice so they have it here that's,something i would change there and,obviously the,annoying login account creation thingy,and then we have the back or the card,here and also with a contrasting color,so that's nicely done so overall i like,the header you have all the main,information in here a couple of things,that i would add would for instance like,a support email address right here and,other things but overall the header,quite easy,now then we have here our slideshow our,hero image usually i do not recomme

How to use Shopify CLI 3.0 for Theme Development and deploy themes to different stores.

Globe again in today's video we're going,to speak about Shopify CLI 3.6 3.2,whatever you want to call it and before,we get started I just want you to know,that I have tried it I have give it a,shot and it's really awesome and you,will see we will get to all the features,in a second so bear with me and you will,also need to know that the old version,will no longer be supported until uh,like I think it's 31st May of next year,and usually some people still use 10K,because well some Futures teamkit has,some advantage over the old CLI version,especially for team development but now,with 3.x it's really you will see that I,think everyone will make great to 3.6,once once I show these Futures so yeah,I'm really really excited because you,will see all the features in this in a,second,but before we get started with the code,you will actually need to migrate to the,newest version,and to migrate they have if you click,Shopify CRI in the documentation they,have a really easy migration guide and,especially if you are on Mac since,Michael you have to do if you have,installed it with Homebrew all you have,to do is really click home brew upgrade,Shopify CLI if you have never installed,Shopify CLI in the first place all you,have to do is just Brew I think add,Shopify CLI and it will go to it will,install the latest version which is,um which is 3.22 for me so yeah,if you are on other uh machines like,Linux or revi or,excuse me or Windows you probably have,installed it with Gem and if you have to,if you had installed it with gem you,need to uninstall the old implementation,and install the new the new,implementation using uh using npm or,yarn or pnpm whatever you like since,it's now hosted on npm because it's a,typescript package it's a node package,and it's no longer a ruby package since,the newest version is actually,built using a typescript the old version,is using Ruby the newest version if you,if we check the GitHub you will see it's,Rewritten in typescript it's not fully,Rewritten in typescript it's actually a,wrapper especially for the teams part,it's a wrapper over the typescript,implementation over the old Rabbi,implementation sorry so yeah,uh now all you have to do is just click,here on global ads at Shopify and it,will add Shopify you will need to,install the core package which is,shopify.cr day and then install the,plugin yeah it's a plugin uh you will,see how the Shopify team commands all,are a plugin it's actually a plugin that,is added to the core CLI to support,Shopify team Commons so now if I,actually once you do that you will have,the latest version,and once you do that,um you can also still use the old,version of the Shopify CLI uh but you,will have to call it to change the pads,especially if you are if you have,installed it with Homebrew you will have,to change the naming using the pads like,like we do if you are if you're ever,used python for example we have python 2,and python for python 3. that's that's,reminds me of that,um the old implementat
