The End of ChannelFireball?!?

today there was a big announcement in,the world of magic the gathering and,that is that tcg player will be,acquiring channel fireball now this is,big news because for over a decade,channel fireball has been a place to buy,cards consume magic content and also uh,has been viewed as a competitor of sorts,to tcg player because tcg player is the,biggest place to buy magic the gathering,cards this has prompted people to be,worried about consolidation within the,market saying it will hurt consumers or,things like that and i just want to,provide my insight as someone who has a,degree in economics to kind of explain,the concept behind this merger and also,go into a little bit of information on,what it will entail for customers by,going through partially the,announcement uh from tcd player this is,the announcement they made press release,this is the channel fireball press,release and uh just kind of go through,what the merger entails why it might,have happened and things of that nature,so first of all if you've never heard of,tcgplayer it is a place to buy cards so,if you wanted to buy lightning bolt,these are all of the options that you,would have you can click on an,individual lightning bolt let's just say,you want to buy the one from baldur's,gate the newest one and then you can,scroll down and you can be like okay i,can buy from this guy for 54 cents this,guy for 59 cents 60 cents and then like,different conditions you can sort by,different things and that's pretty much,what tcg player does you can buy all the,cards you need and then you just buy,them all at once and then just,you have all of these options of cards,and there's a bunch of different sellers,critically,because on tcg player it functions,almost like an amazon thing where you,can buy from individual companies that,then list their product on tcgplayer,channel uh the channel fireball,marketplace has a similar model they,also have different listings from,different sellers if i wanted to buy,this lightning bolt for example i click,on it they have a bunch of different,sellers and things like that i have,bought cards from both companies and,both companies have provided great,customer service and things like that,but tcgplayer simply has far more scale,than a channel fireball so if we look at,something like the lightning bolt let's,just say we want to buy the jumpstart,one or the modern masters 2015 one on,channel fireball there are four listings,and 23 listings respectively,let's just see where the double the,modern masters 2015 lightning bolt falls,here modern master 2015 there are 266,listings as compared to 23 so over 10,times as many and there are 159 listings,of this version as compared to four so,there's just far far more uh sellers,listing things on tcgplayer than channel,fireball which means that in my eyes at,least this isn't a merger that is,supposed to cause really horizontal,integration they talk about this in,their article but of announcing things,tcgplayer does where they talk about

hey guys the uh,starting here in about 10 minutes,thank you,all right i hope everybody can hear me,okay,um,yeah so this is the first,uh developer chat of 2022 so,as always if you have any questions just,uh drop them in chat or drop them in the,question and answers panel and zoom and,i'm going to go through release notes,that were dropped this morning,and go through uh updates we've been,making to our system,so yeah i'll uh start with shopify we,had a couple of issues that were fixed,so sometimes for our catalog we were,actually pushing products twice,hopefully that wasn't a,too much of an inconvenience for anyone,but we noticed it happened sometimes,we've got a fix in for that and we've,also got a new feature to make sure that,you're using the correct shopify,location,um with binder pass i'm actually going,to demonstrate that one real quick,pretty sure,i've got it here so if we go into point,of sale settings,we've got a new tab here which is,location settings,and what that's actually going to do is,that's going to ping shopify,and get all of the locations,that you have on shopify,and it's going to let you select the,default one so basically what this is,doing is this is the one that binderpos,is going to update um,oh let's see,can't see the share,i am totally not sharing my screen let,me fix that,sorry about that guys,does,ah,now all my chat and everything went away,will help me get that back up,sweet there we go okay,i will go back to the beginning,um,yeah so we've got a,a feature where you can now update the,default location in binder pause and so,basically this is the location that,binderpost is going to update your,inventory,um so,it shouldn't affect a lot of customers,because most everyone only has one,location in shopify but if you've come,on uh previously having had shopify,sometimes there's like old locations and,things that can get into binder plus and,this will cause issues with buy list,uh csv imports and advanced inventory,not updating stock,and so you'd have to reach out to your,account manager and kind of get that,fixed manually we've got it now on the,system where you can take care of that,yourself,so if you go to the settings tab you'll,see we got location settings here now,and what this is going to do is it's,going to pull all the locations from,shopify and let you select,which one,you want to use with binder pass now,we definitely want to make sure that is,the default location in shopify matches,what uh,location is selected here in binder pass,so i actually will,let me see if i can actually pull up a,shopify and show you guys how to check,that,let me i'm just getting logged in on my,other monitor here,been having a little bit of issue,logging in today so make sure i get that,one here here we go,so just an example a binder paw store,here so if you go to settings,and you go to locations,you see this one actually has two uh it,should really only be one um because,binder posts can get a little bit,confused um if you start using seco

hello everyone rachel here from binder,pos i am back this week to give you guys,some more tips and advice,today we're going to be talking about,which sales channels are the best for,game store retailers to sell in,and before we get started i want to go,ahead and define what a sales channel is,so sales channel is an avenue that,businesses can use to help push their,products to consumers,i'm going to go over the most commonly,used sales channels in this industry and,the sales channels that game store,retailers usually see the most success,in so let's go ahead and get started,to be successful selling in multiple,sales channels game store retailers,first need to develop an online selling,strategy,now you need to start small so start,selling online on your store first,try to get rid of that extra product,that you have laying around your store,and begin to develop processes that work,for you and your team,once you feel comfortable with the,processes that you've developed you can,begin branching out to other sales,channels,some of the popular but more generic,sales channels that we see game store,retailers selling in frequently,are amazon,ebay and the facebook marketplace,now each of these sales channels has,their own positives and negatives,for example amazon has access to,probably the largest consumer audience,but this audience isn't as targeted as,the audience may be on ebay or the,facebook marketplace,ebay has been a long time trusted source,with consumers in the industry,but managing ebay listings can be a,little cumbersome,the facebook marketplace is a very,unique opportunity because the consumers,in this industry are so active on,facebook the facebook marketplace can,allow you to reach those consumers and,be more targeted with that reach,the best sales channels to sell in for,game store retailers without a doubt are,going to be industry specific,marketplaces,so the channel fireball marketplace is a,great example of an industry specific,marketplace,the appeal with these marketplaces is,that every consumer that visits this,marketplace either has an interest in or,is looking for some sort of tcg product,so the audience of,these marketplaces is much more targeted,every product that you list on this,marketplace is more likely to get pushed,to a actual consumer of these products,than the previous sales channels that,i've mentioned,there is no reason as a game store,retailer that you need to sell in just,one sales channel we actually recommend,that you sell and as many channels as,you have bandwidth for but as i,mentioned earlier take it slow start,with one sales channel develop your,processes for that channel before you,expand into another one,the appeal with having your products,listed in multiple sales channels is,that you reach more potential customers,for that product the more places that,you have it listed the more people that,will see that product,all right guys that's all that i have,for you on sales channels i hope that,this gets you thinking a

you know one of the crazy things that,that dominate i was looking at,you know preparing for today and it was,about,it was almost exactly a year ago that we,were we unfortunately had to cancel,grand prix turin,um that was that was that the first,because detroit's the one i remember,detroit i was on the plane,and it got canceled in the u.s but it,was about a month before a few weeks,before that,that uh that we had to make the,difficult decision to cancel grand,return,and i don't think any of us knew the,year that we had ahead of us um,obviously it's been a very challenging,year for everyone,and uh you know one of the things that,you know i think internally that we've,it's helped us and i think that's maybe,helped a lot of people in the industry,is focusing on what things we can do to,still interact with our customers and,still,you know add value there so uh moshi i,think take it over here right,awesome yeah let me uh let me get this,uh let me get this going oops i hit the,wrong button,as is want for me uh we will get,into it here,okay everyone thank you john so um my,name is mashi scanlin,i am the the chief marketing officer,here at the cfe group and i just want to,take some time we've learned john,already eluded this we've gone through,so much this year um,and we've learned a lot and just wanted,to put together some quick hits five,things your store needs to do,right now the theme here is is be active,and i will speak just for for myself my,own role for channel fireball that was,prior to the merger,i worked with cfb events and channel,fireball and,um you know the first thing we had to do,was be proactive it's time to destroy,ourselves and branch out,of our comfort zone and that's something,that i really learned like sometimes,when we're doing business we think we're,pushing but we're not really pushing,we've gotten complacent and i mean i'll,put my hand up and say that's me,you know you can put your hand up like,that i felt that immediately,when all of a sudden the world changed,overnight and so the same things that we,were doing weren't going to get us,through,these changes um so we needed to attack,this economy as a subject,of our own business story not the,objects of a,capricious economy too many businesses,in our industry outside industry were,kind of just letting,what was happening in the world letting,what was happening with kovid happened,to them,and that was not a recipe for success i,think if you're joining us,here and now you didn't do that you,became the subject you drove the story,and i think that's,one of the most important takeaways i've,had this year in business,honestly it's something we should all,take to heart and be doing,prior to kovid and certainly i think,we'll all be doing post covid,but what it really led to was try to,take up that mantle,stir off all the dust and start working,right be active so the five action items,diversity diversify,reach out re-engage be agile and play,the long game those are the five key,things the f

Tips for Working With BinderPOS CSV Templates

hello everyone rachel here from binder,pos i am back this week to give you guys,some more tips and advice,today i'm going to focus on a subject,that we get a lot of questions about and,that is the csv upload process,for adding inventory on the binder pos,platform,now i am going to go over some of the,most common questions that we receive,and some things that you can do to make,sure that you don't experience any,issues when uploading your inventory via,csv,the first thing that we are going to,recommend is that you use the binder pos,csv template that we provide for you,we see a lot of customers have issues,with csv uploading,when they choose to use their own csv,files,we see this because they either do not,have the correct headings or they don't,have all the necessary information,needed for the csv upload,essentially when you choose to use your,own csv file instead of the template,that we provide for you there's much,more room for error in the upload,process,the binder pos csv file can be found by,going to the product section in the,binder pos portal,running any search of cards that you,would like and then clicking the export,search button,upon clicking that export search button,you will receive an email with the csv,file and then you have the template and,you're ready to begin uploading your,inventory,the next thing that we recommend is that,you double check your headings the,headings have to be in the first row of,the csv file in order for them to upload,correctly,and there are a set amount of required,headings in order for that csv file to,upload properly,we see a lot of customers either leaving,headings out or putting them in the,wrong wrong section of the csv,and this results in an error with the,csv upload,here are all of the headings that are,absolutely required on the csv file in,order for it to upload correctly,another thing that we see customers,experiencing issues with frequently when,it comes to the csv uploading process,is putting the wrong information in the,wrong columns,you really want to make sure that you're,paying attention to those headings and,you're putting the right information,that correlates with that heading,the instance where we see customers,experience an issue with this most,frequently is when store owners are,uploading their inventory,and they're uploading it in the in stock,column rather than the add or set stop,column,the in stock column is just for,informational purposes so if you upload,your inventory under that column it will,not upload to your portal correctly,and this is the same for most headings,if you put the wrong information with,that heading it's not going to upload,correctly,all right everyone those were just a few,tips that we have to help you guys,mitigate some of the common issues that,we see customers experiencing with the,csv uploading process,i hope that this helps you and as always,if you are looking for marketing tips or,advice make sure that you check out our,ultimate marketing guide for local g
