hey what's up this is Scott with level,up tuts and today we're gonna continue,our bolt series and what we're going to,do today is create our first theme and,so the theme that bolt uses by default,is actually called base - 2013 so it's,the base theme for 2013 so what we're,going to do first is we're going to,create our own theme and we're going to,use that for this site it's gonna be,awesome okay,so one thing we want to do first is I,want to go to my finder and then I'm,gonna browse to the site directory and,in here under theme if you open this,down you'll see base 2013 and what I'm,going to do is just copy this and now,that's copied I'm going to call this,level up and here we have a theme so now,if I go into sublime text let's make,this fit you can see that I have this,level up theme and it has all these,files in it that are dot twig extension,and don't be worried about the dot twig,because it's really just a form of an,HTML document that uses some templating,tags so it's going to be using these,curly brackets here to denote when,you're going to it use some data so what,these twig files are is really it's a,templating language it makes it easier,to code sites than just straight-up PHP,and if you've used something like,expression engine before you may be,really you know totally experienced with,this type of interface or this type of,templating language and it's the same,thing that you can find in all sorts of,other frameworks and CMS's so it's a,good time to get used to it and we're,going to go over how to do twig template,files in future tutorials however since,we did just copy this theme you know,it's worth we should probably change it,so we can tell if we're actually using,this theme or not when we set a new one,so let's go to style sheets right here,and in the app CSS you'll notice there's,two other ones foundation and foundation,min this is using the ZURB foundation so,they have,default styles and that provides some,default in you know functionality their,grid framework and stuff like that you,can always check out Serbs foundation,and I believe this is foundation three,they just recently released a foundation,for this shouldn't matter much you can,check out their documentation to see,exactly what's available but let's do,something interesting so that it's not,so we know it's not using this we're,just gonna change the font family to,Helvetica and that's not really that,interesting but it'll make it pretty,obvious that we're not using this old,theme anymore once we tell it a new,theme so I'm gonna go through here and,I'm also going to just add a background,color to the body and this one is this,f8f8f8 and you can see it's sort of this,creamy greyish white that's in the,background here we're just gonna set,this to super ugly blue for one second,just so we can make sure that we're,using the right theme here so we have,our theme it's named LevelUp it's right,here how do we enable this theme well,your wonder when I click on app and then,config and

what's up christian here and today i'm,going to share with you the top five,themes to use,if you are a clothing store and i'm,going to show you at the end of this,video how to get the theme,use it customize it for free before even,purchasing anything,let's get started,all right so always as always just want,to preface these uh,theme suggestions these are just our,opinions and some of the things that,we've used within shopify,and again we try to stick with themes,that shopify provides,in their store they usually tend to have,the best support,and the best organization and structure,um,we try to stay away from the,themeforest.com which is i mean it could,be nothing wrong with them,but we just haven't had the best,experience with those type of things so,starting at number one,is warehouse now warehouse is designed,to be,uh for large catalogs of products so if,your store or clothing store that has a,lot of different products,maybe you have shirts dresses pants hats,jewelry a little bit of everything then,warehouse is going to be really good for,you so i'm going to jump in here and,kind of show you,how the back end or not back in just an,example,right of a preview of the of one of the,theme styles for warehouse,so this one has um again a lot,an emphasis right on the large catalog,so as you can see,one of the main things here is a search,bar right where you can actually,uh highlight different categories and,search within those categories so,um besides the search and the nice,navigation,and then log in the account the card,over here then,on this home page we also have a good,breakdown of different categories right,so these different categories again,could be from beanies and accessories,to running and shoes to actually phone,cases,so a large wide variety of products i,love that,i really really like on this one in,particular um,what they call the uh the different,color,options for the for the products so it,shows you right there,from within the the product collection,where this shoe in particular,could be different products different,colors i'm sorry not different different,colors,it shows you the reviews and actually,has the option to show you,how many units are in stock so again,talking about a large inventory,of products it might be good to showcase,you know how many you have,in stock i also like the option that you,know it shows you add to cart if it's,just one,one variant or if it has different,colors maybe different sizes and things,like that,then the button changes to say choose,options so when you click on choose,options,it actually takes you to the product,page,where you have just more information,about the product,i love this zoom feature you can see,this on,amazon so again this theme reminds me,very much so of of amazon and again a,large inventory theme,then this one also has integrated,customer reviews so you don't have to,add any additional app,to get customer reviews on the theme,nice some of the other things that i'm,going to talk to you ab

all right what's up guys if you found,this video then you probably have the,type of store where you need to show,your customers the sku number maybe,underneath the product title like this,and this is common if you have a,wholesale store,or maybe if your store has products with,a lot of different colors a lot of,different patterns and maybe it's a,little bit confusing for customers and,so it would benefit them to,be able to check the exact skew number,to make sure that they're getting the,right color or whatever unfortunately,many shopify themes don't have this,built in already and i'm not sure why,because it's really easy to just output,this value using liquid code,so i don't know why they wouldn't,include this option so luckily it's easy,enough to do that you're gonna do it,yourself,okay and just to clarify i am talking,about this field here so under inventory,we have the sku field that's what we're,going to be outputting directly to the,product page in a variety of different,ways i'll show you how to,i'll give you some options,and this is how it looks like if your,product does not have variance and this,is how it looks like if your product,does have variance then it will be,attached to every variant here you will,have a different skew for every variant,normally,and by the way if you are using the,barcode instead of the sku you can still,follow this tutorial simply everywhere,in the code where i say,dot sku,you would write dot barcode instead so,really easy so i'm going to show a few,ways to do this from easy to slightly,more difficult and you can decide what,is the best way for your situation and,your requirements the first way would be,for a product that does not have,variance things like size or color if,your product does not have that then,it's going to be super easy for you to,do this we're just going to be using the,custom liquid block type okay so this is,available on all shopify 2.0 themes and,you're going to be able to simply copy,and paste a lot of my code or code along,with me and just fill up this custom,liquid field here to output the skew,also if you're using an older theme that,is not on shopify 2.0 i will briefly,explain what you can do but you will,need to dig around in your theme files a,bit,to find maybe the product title so that,you can add the code that i'm talking,about in this tutorial underneath that,product title right you just need to,find the right spot to put that code all,right so the next part of the tutorial,is going to be if you have variants okay,and i'm going to show you a couple of,options here,the clean and really nice looking way,is to create a custom block type right,here these blocks that you have,available to you uh we're going to be,creating our own custom one and you see,this one with the lightning bolt is one,that i've created myself and i use that,lightning bolt to kind of visually,separate it and make it easy to see that,this is not part of the theme this is,one that i added myself,so you're just goin

what's up guys today i've got a highly,requested video ever since i actually,showed this site in a previous video,and um people noticed this other options,feature people have been asking me for a,tutorial on how to build this feature so,today we're going to do that this is,that tutorial and this feature is what i,like to call a related products block,what do i mean by a block well it goes,inside of the product information,section so that's everything to the,right of your main product image,these are your blocks we can click add,block and as you can see i have a custom,one with a lightning bolt,called related products okay we can add,that and well i've already added it to,this page,and as you can see i've changed the,heading to other colors and we showcase,the other colors of this bottle it's,really useful because we can drag it,around and of course these products are,connected using metal fields which i'll,also show you how to set up to link,products together using the product,reference meta field this time actually,so there's actually a couple uses for,this as i see it the most common one i,think will actually be these other,colors and this is a very common,situation when you've split your product,into separate colors instead of using,color variants and just one product this,is a valid strategy right so some stores,they want to have more products or for,seo reasons they want to have a separate,product page for each color and that's,fine the most high profile site that i,know of that does this is gymshark and,as you can see they've got almost the,same kind of thing this related products,block which links to the other products,on their site the other colors that is,but these are not actually color,swatches these are completely separate,products the second use that i see for,this is when products are simply related,then you would not have the heading,other colors you would have like related,products or,um you know complete the set,for example so this is matcha tea it's,made in a bowl and you have to whisk it,to make the drink,so we right complete the set and we,upsell,these products to our customer so i,think this is going to be a really,interesting video for you if you're,learning shopify development because i,think this is a common task that you'll,be asked to do if you want to start,freelancing or something,and you'll be using the product,reference meta field and also you'll be,creating a custom block but if you're,also a store owner or you have no coding,experience you just want to implement,this feature to your store don't worry,about it it's going to be really easy to,follow this video you don't need any,experience and you can copy and paste as,much as you want from my code you don't,actually have to follow the video as,usual in my videos you can grab all the,code from my website so go to ed.codes,and then click on tutorials and then,find this tutorial lastly before we get,started with the tutorial i also want to,let you know that i'm trying

in today's video i'm just going to be,going over some of the next steps that,i'm taking in building my shopify store,for selling low content books welcome to,my channel my name is caroline and if,you've been following along i have,recently done a couple of videos where,i'm building a shopify store to sell low,content books on just to give a really,quick background on this i,sell low content books on amazon kdp and,last year my account was accidentally,deleted and although i did get it back,it made me think about,having multiple streams of income and,not relying just on one platform just in,case just in case the worst happens,where for whatever reason,i or we cannot sell on amazon kdp,anymore so i've decided to set up a,standalone online store so i'm not going,to have,the,platform of kdp which already has,built-in customers for me to promote my,books to i'm going to be creating my own,shopify store where i'm going to have to,find customers myself but i'm excited,and i'm looking forward to the challenge,so so far i have done videos where i,show,setting up the shopify store and just,doing that back end admin,area setup,and then,my last video was how to connect shopify,to lulu which is the print on demand,supplier that i'm going to be using to,create and ship my low content books,and so now i'm just going to be doing,some customizing i installed my theme in,the last video too i used the debutify,theme just the free version,and so we're just going to go over,what i'm going to be doing to customize,the store,and,what i want it to look like so i have,basically already created a logo and i,just wanted to go for,sort of like a red romantic type of font,type of,theme color branding that sort of thing,in terms of a logo i generally just like,font logos i don't like anything too,complicated and anything that distracts,from,the name of the store i just personally,think you should just have your logo,very clear on what your store's called,so as to not confuse anybody about where,they are and so i've never used this,theme before,so i am sort of just finding my way,as i go and trying to figure out where,everything is,for,all the stuff that i want to,customize so i just head over to the app,which opens up in a new window so the,debutify theme is under the apps,section of shopify and then we can go to,theme library,just noticed there is an update,available so i'm just going to do that,first okay so i've updated the theme so,now i've got the most current version,and i've just clicked on the theme i've,just installed and i'm just going to,start customizing it now there's some,parts of this video i may not talk over,i might just record my screen and you,can watch what i'm doing because,like i say i haven't actually used this,thing before so i'm just going to be,doing a lot of clicking around trying to,figure out where everything is and try,to change the things i want to change,if i do anything and i'm not talking,about it as i'm doing it and you want to,ask me any qu

in this video we're going to create a,sales pop-up notification like this,without using or installing shopify apps,stay tuned for that,before we start this video this video is,sponsored by shopify i'm just kidding,it's not sponsored but thank you for,sending me this t-shirt it's really,really cool so in this video we're going,to create the following sales pop-up,notifications so we're going to divide,this into four sections the first is,using the toastify.js it's a javascript,plug and that allows you to create a,toast window and then the second is,creating these schema settings to use,products and then the third is creating,javascript code to use the toastify.js,so we can display the products,sales pop-up notification and then the,fourth is i guess designing it so with,that being said let's start by,using the toastify.js open your browser,and go to the following github,repository i'll put its link in the,video description below and then you can,just scroll down and then we can start,by using the following cdn links that's,the css and then the javascript cdn so,let's go back to our shopify store admin,page and let's open the online store and,let's open the theme code editor as well,as the theme editor or customizer page,so open your customize,window in a new tab and then the theme,editor so select the actions and select,edit code open them in a new tab,and then let's open the customizer and,we should have here,a sales pop-up notification section that,allows us to create the um blocks so,let's open the theme editor and open the,sections folder right over here create a,new section and let's just call it sales,hyphen pop-up hyphen notification,create that file and here we'll just,change the name of the section to sales,pop up,notification,save it,and then let's open our theme that,liquid here in the layout folder,open that and then let's scroll down,until you reach the the opening of the,body tag so right over here so look for,the opening of the body tag and then,inside of it we're going to create the,section tag so section and then we're,going to reference the sales hyphen,pop-up notification,so make sure that's the name of your,section file okay,make sure they close the section tag,save it,and you can now close the theme.liquid,you don't need it anymore and let's open,our customizer page and refresh the page,and this time we should have the sales,pop-up notification section there we go,so as you can see now we have the sales,pop-up notification so the next thing,that we're going to do is to create the,blocks so we can create or use the,products of our shopify store so go back,to your theme editor,and then here underneath of the settings,we're going to create the blocks,so create the blocks,and then for its value make sure it's an,array,and then inside of this array we're,going to create a one an object,basically so create a set of curly,braces and then inside of this we're,going to create the um the name,so name of the block we'll set it to,product
