to talk to you today about upgrading,your theme to the latest version.,Now, there comes a time in every
merchant's journey after they've,bought our, one of our themes after
they've set it up, it's running, it's,making sales and you let it run for
three months, six months a year and,eventually you'll need to upgrade.,That reason for upgrading
could be one of many.,Maybe there's a new feature that's in
one of our latest versions that you,wanna take advantage of; a new section.,Maybe there is an app that you're
trying to integrate with that works,best with the latest version of our
theme, or maybe there's a bug that,was introduced for one of many reasons
that is fixed in the latest version.,One of the things that you get when
you purchase one of our themes is,access to the latest versions for
the entire life of that product.,Actually getting that theme installed
is another process in itself.,And it will vary depending on the number
of customizations that you've made and,how complex those customizations are.,We recommend that you upgrade
your theme at least once a year,,especially before any big sales season

a mega menu in our dawn theme ,and after adding the mega menu you will
have your mega menu showing up like this,where you can have submenu items displayed
properly and improve the layout of your ,theme so if you want to learn please watch the
video till the end let's jump into the code,so guys this is how the default menu of dawn
theme looks like now in order to add a little ,spice with the mega menu all you need to do is add
an app so go to the back end of your Shopify store,and from the dashboard click on apps,and from apps click on customize your store ,so the app which we are installing is a free app
where you don't need to pay anything and you can ,easily add a mega menu to your store now in apps
search for Buddha mega menu and that's the app ,which we'll be installing to add in the mega menu
to our dawn theme now click on this that's the app,and from this menu click on add app,now it's asking uh for your app to be
connected with your store and authorize ,the access now click on install app,now it's showing up the paid and free package
we will be using free version, for now, ,in paid version we can have many many
features like live icons animated icons, ,and multiple styles of the mega menu
for now we'll just choose the free plan,okay now after selecting the free app
you will have an initializing app screen,okay here's the dashboard of buddha apps mega menu
now click on the first menu item we can just add ,the home icon static icons and select home which
will be linked to home page add in that now add in ,our mega menu item which will have multiple
sub menu columns first add in the main menu,so i'll be adding services,which will not link anywhere you can link it
uh to any of your inner page to product page ,blog page or any of the custom web address if
you want to but for now in order for the sake ,of the tutorial i'll just click on no link now
click ok and in this menu item we will create ,sub-menu which will have five columns
now click on these three small lines ,and select on simple so in free version
we only have the simple one we don't have ,any other styles of the sub menu unfortunately
because it's a free version so we'll select on ,simple and now in here we will create our
five columns or you can say five list items,first list,now we are adding our second list,okay guys so i have created five columns ,the way i showed you guys and i also added a
sub menu item as you can see we have uh items ,showing up on each list we can add multiple
items on each list and our mega menu will look,awesome like this and after adding
all of your item click on save,so our mega menu item has been saved
successfully and that's how it will look ,like once you hover over it now let's click
on this button here add and design mega menu,so here it will have an option to select the

hi guys today i thought i'd make a video,about how you can use visual studio code,to code your shopify site so one of the,reasons you'd want to do this is while,the default text editor for shopify is,all right it has the tendency to,improperly autoformat things and,you know you don't get access to all the,extensions and whatnot that you,traditionally would with a dedicated,text editor and also i think it has one,of the ugliest dark modes of all time so,we're actually going to use github,to help us out with this and so this way,we're going to be able to edit our site,in visual studio code and push the,changes through github and the changes,will automatically be reflected on our,site so the first thing i want you guys,to do once you're in github is go ahead,up here and create a new repository,you're gonna name this whatever you want,but for my test site i'm just gonna name,it um,test site uh and then just underscore,and then the the theme name so dawn,i'm just gonna leave the description,blank i'll make it private i'm gonna,keep all these unchecked for now and i'm,just gonna go ahead and create the,repository so once i've done that i'm,gonna copy this link once i've navigated,to the place that i want this to be,located on my computer i'm just gonna,type git clone and,paste the link that i copied from before,it's going to ask me for my passphrase,it tells me that i've cloned an empty,repository that that's fine because,we're going to go ahead and download the,theme files from my,shopify site and then we're going to,upload them to this repository here i am,in the admin of my site and i'm just,going to go ahead and hit this actions,button here,for whichever theme i want to actually,integrate with github and visual studio,code,and then i'm going to go ahead and,download the theme file now it's going,to email me the theme file so you'll,actually receive an email that has a,link to the download,i've downloaded it and i've dragged it,out onto my desktop uh i'm gonna go,ahead and extract this,into its own,folder,and once that's finished i'm gonna go,ahead and open this copy all of the,files in here and drag them into,whatever folder you set up to be your,github repository so once i've done that,i can go back to my command prompt here,cd into that,folder,and i'm going to get status here,and then i'm going to get add uh all of,these files,um,and get status again,all right so we've added all these files,now i need to commit them i'm gonna git,commit am,um,which is just it's just committing all,these files with the message initial,commit yeah so now we have this,committed now i'm to get push origin to,main,and it's going to prompt me for my,passphrase i'm going to do that so now,when we go back to github you'll see,these files have been pushed to,uh github from our local repository here,we are in github and you can see all,these files have been pushed,uh to our remote repository so now we,need to connect to this repository in,shopify so to do that i'm going to
