let's be honest your store design,matters and if you have a really ugly,site people are just going to leave and,they're not going to purchase from you,so in this video i'm going to show you,exactly how to customize,your shopify store design,as soon as someone comes to your site,they only have about seven,seconds before they decide if they want,to look longer on your site or,leave so those seven seconds really,matter and design,matters when it comes to that you want,to make sure that your site is,eye-catching,and it really speaks to your ideal,customer so,how do you do this you really need to,pick out your shopify,theme and make sure that it works based,on what kind of,imagery you have if you have a lot of,really great big images,then pick a theme that's going to,highlight those but if you don't have a,lot of great product shots,then you want to make sure that you pick,a theme that's not going to be heavily,reliant on that,once you've chosen your shopify theme,then it's time to,customize it and this is where it's,important to create different assets,choose your fonts and colors,to make sure that it's appealing for,your ideal customer,so this is super important but a lot of,times people kind of overlook the design,step so i'm going to show you really,quickly how to,actually customize your design in the,back end of shopify for both your home,page,collection page and product page so to,get here you're going to click on,online store and then you'll see themes,there from the list,so now that we are on the themes page,you can see your live theme here,this is what your customers are actually,seeing whenever they come to your site,as well as your online store speed we've,done another video on how to speed up,your site so i will,link that in the description below and,in the info cards above as well,and you can also see the theme library,so you can,upload your theme if you've purchased it,somewhere else or you can explore the,different,theme options available so for example,if you click on,explore free themes you'll actually see,a pop-up of all of the different free,themes that are available here,the one problem with this is if you,click into it you can't really see,how the site overall looks as well as,how it looks on mobile you can just kind,of see the different styling aspects,so what i do recommend that you do is,actually visit the theme,store so if we just click on this here,you can see,the full theme store and this is both,free,and paid themes so what i like to do,whenever i'm trying to decide on a theme,for a shopify store,is i'll actually go to all themes up,here at the top,and then you can see the sidebar here of,sorting options so you can actually sort,through,and you can see you know based on you,just want to see,themes that are just for single products,so if you click on that,then it shows you just that product or,specifications on the right hand side so,you can better narrow down what kind of,theme that it is that you are looking,for,so if we u

my wife gave birth to a biracial baby,that clearly isn't mine,and i'm divorcing her but i'm worried,about the relationship between my two,kids and their new half-sister,a month ago my wife gave birth to a,black baby girl,we are both white so she was forced to,admit,that the child was a result of a,one-night stand last year,i've started divorce proceedings,although we are still living together,for now,between our two boys age two and four,i've had paternity tests for them,and they came back positive her infant,daughter and her having lost her job due,to covid,living together as amicably as possible,until the divorce is settled,is an unfortunate necessity naturally i,have no el will towards the baby,and i've been disgusted by some of the,comments i've heard from family members,friends co-workers and others all who,seem to be fixated on the racial angle,of this,as if the most salient part of this,isn't that my wife cheated,but that she cheated with a black man,and that the baby is black,what worries me is that my two sons,might pick up on these narratives,they are too young to understand what's,happening now but i'm worried that as,they grow to understand the situation,that they might grow to resent their,half-sister for breaking up their,parents marriage,and worse than their resentment might,express itself in a racist fashion,under the influence of the,aforementioned racist narratives,any thoughts on how i should try to,influence my sons away from that,perspective,it probably doesn't help that we live in,a suburb with very few black people and,their half-sister is the only black,person my children know,update my wife gave birth to a biracial,baby that clearly isn't mine,and i'm divorcing her but i'm worried,about the relationship between my two,kids and their new half-sister,the big takeaway for me was that if i'd,need to lead by example here,not excluding her in any way because of,her paternity,so that she and my sons would see her as,a full member of the family,also that i need to be more active in,confronting the bigoted and ignorant,nonsense i've been hearing,and teach my sons to do the same to,protect their sister,i've spoken to some of those responsible,since and made clear my feelings on this,and that she is to be treated as a,member family and that if i ever find,out,that they've said things like that to my,sons or their sister,that they won't be allowed around us,anymore i've spoken to my wife about,this,and we are more or less on the same page,she's been begging me to forgive her,and not go through the divorce but,that's not going to happen,even if i didn't consider the cheating,and forgivable i just don't feel any,love for her anymore,other than a platonic affection for her,as the mother of my children,my sons are handling this as well as can,be expected,the four-year-old doesn't fully,understand but is upset by the change in,the household,thankfully he's easily distracted the,two-year-old is thankfully too young to,comprehend what's goi

i'm happy to talk today about,design systems and share with you some,insights how we established a design,system at ibm,and i will start a quick introduction,into the ibm design language,and that you get to know our design,system carbon,but also we'll share with you what is,actually the value to have a design,system,in an enterprise and what are the some,challenges maybe face,and also best practices that we have to,consider when adopting this,successfully,so let me start with a very popular,example that you all might know,a brand example like uber they did the,rebrand in 2018,and yeah they actually established a,really holistic brand system,which is really instantly recognizable,and it works all around the world,and is very efficient to execute,but also some companies actually are,using system not only,to express the unique look and feel i,think a design system is nowadays also,some,a big thing in our ux design process,and specifically also in enterprise,software,but what exactly is a design system so,most of you might be familiar with this,definition here,so it's like a system guided by clear,standards and a collection of rules,principles and best practices,agree but it is actually much more,it's a design system is a single source,of truth for,teams who are actually involved in a,product creator creation so,it has a collection of reusable elements,which means we have,ui components a library for designers,but also ready to use elements and code,for development,and it is also somehow flexible and,scalable which allows us,to develop faster before i,jump into that and give you more insight,on that,i i will start with a brief history,about design systems in general,pattern libraries they actually already,exist in other fields,for decades and a really good example is,a pattern language by,christopher alexander and this is,actually,this book is established to guide,principles for building and urban,planning,and it was already written in 1977 so,it's pretty old and,yeah it continues actually till today to,influence landscape designers and,architects,and also an interaction design the first,iterations of this,appeared in the early early 2000s i,think,and it was by jennifer title who wrote,designing interfaces and this was one of,the best books to that time in that,subject it focused on patterns that,exist,and also showed many examples of each,then all of you might notice one like,the human interface guidelines from,apple,um and this is a was actually a major,step,um and provided information and ui,resources for designing great apps and,that also integrates seamlessly with the,apple platforms,so the key here was actually to design,an ecosystem,designed for hardware software and,services that can work together,to have an intuitive experience,and all of you might be maybe also,familiar with atomic design framework,and,this actually will started already 2010,and evolved further over time,and this was also the first large scale,attempt to break out of example
