all right guys so in this video i'm,going to be showing you how you can go,ahead and,customize your debut theme within,shopify so debut theme,is the theme that all shopify stores,start out with,by default when you go ahead and start a,shopify store and if you haven't already,opened your shopify store yet you can,start your 14 day free trial by clicking,the first link in the description,so i figured i'd make this video because,debut theme,is one of the most commonly used themes,because it's the one that all stores,start out with and the view theme,actually looks,really good so right here we can see,that this is what debut theme looks like,when it's first installed with,absolutely nothing filled out,so we can see that we have where our,logo should be,we have a big header right here with,some text we have an image here,we have three images with text below,here we have,a uh empty collection and we have,another,um header type image right here another,wallpaper image,we have some testimonials and we have,three images down here,and then we have the footer so,right now we have a nice little template,but it's blank,so if you're looking to go ahead and,fill out,your um store using debut theme,the first thing you're going to want to,make sure you have is,a few key things so i'm going to bring,up a notepad and just make sure,because before you go ahead and start,the design process you're going to need,a couple things so the first one is,going to be a logo,so i assume you already have a logo at,this point if you're ready to start your,store design but if not,then make sure you get a logo first,because everything else is going to be,based around the logo,and then we're going to have a color,scheme selected,and normally this color scheme is going,to,be derived from colors from your logo,and typically,you're going to use one to two colors,to base your entire store around and,like i said these colors will be derived,from the logo and the next thing we're,going to need,is a couple wallpaper photos,so we can see we're going to need some,photos to go ahead and put back here in,this header,we need some photos to put back here and,this header as well,so if you have any large photos related,to your business,go ahead and upload them to your,computer or,put them all in one folder so we can go,ahead and,use them as backgrounds here and if you,don't you can use,different sites such as pixabay,to find free stock images that you can,go ahead and use,so let's just type in something like,fishing,so if you had a store related to fishing,you could go ahead and just,look for different stock photos here,or maybe you have something related to,yoga,or fitness you can type in a lot,of different niches depending on what,your store is based around,and you can use some of these wallpapers,to go ahead and put back here,now obviously i do think it's better if,you have your own,custom photos but uh you know not,everyone's gonna have that starting out,so if you don't you can go ahead and us

what's up youtube today to celebrate the,release of my new class,shopify theme development with vue.js,i'm going to share a quick tutorial on,how we can use,vue.js with shopify's own predictive,search api,to create a dynamic product search page,vue.js is a front-end javascript,framework that we can use to build,interactive user interfaces i'm talking,about interfaces where the interactions,happen,purely on the front end using vue.js,is my preferred way to create purely,front-end interactions,as it's much more efficient than opting,out of a framework and much simpler to,use in my opinion,compared to other frameworks like react,or angular,all we have to do is include a script,tag to bring in the vue.js script,create an options object and then pass,that into a create,app method it's that simple now instead,of writing long lines of javascript,or having to wait for annoying page,reloads we can set up a data structure,bind that to our html structure and then,dynamically update the data,all on the front end in today's video,i'm going to share one example of using,vue.js,in shopify theme development and that is,to create a product search page,for our shopify theme we'll learn how to,quickly set up a vue.js,app retrieve a list of items from the,search api,and then update the list of those items,based on the value,passed in to the search bar by a user so,without further ado let's jump onto the,computer and let's get started,all right so i'm going to start off this,tutorial inside the usual spot,inside my development store chris,testing shop,you can see here that i've already,loaded in view class theme into the live,theme,this is the theme code that we use,throughout the skillshare class,and i'm going to be using it for today's,tutorial as well,if you'd like to access this theme code,and use it as well,you can go to my github page,dodd github.comchristopherdodd look for,view class theme,under this drop down here you can see,there's a few different branches that,represent,different stages of completed code in,the project as we go through in the,skillshare class,i'm going to add another branch here for,when we complete the code in today's,tutorial,for the search page so check out this,repo when you're watching the video,and you should be able to see the,completed code for today's video,in there as well okay if you haven't yet,installed,this theme code onto your shopify store,you can simply click,this button download the zip and then,upload it,straight to your store via this button,all right but i've already got it here,in my store if i click on actions and,then view,you can see we've got a very simple,theme nothing on the home page,we just got a product page for shopping,a t-shirt,a collection page and a cart page,now this is all interactive using view,this is what we do in the,skillshare class so if you want to know,how,i actually went about this that's all in,the skillshare class,but i thought in this video what i would,do is add a search page here as well,

Globe again in today's video we're going,to speak about Shopify CLI 3.6 3.2,whatever you want to call it and before,we get started I just want you to know,that I have tried it I have give it a,shot and it's really awesome and you,will see we will get to all the features,in a second so bear with me and you will,also need to know that the old version,will no longer be supported until uh,like I think it's 31st May of next year,and usually some people still use 10K,because well some Futures teamkit has,some advantage over the old CLI version,especially for team development but now,with 3.x it's really you will see that I,think everyone will make great to 3.6,once once I show these Futures so yeah,I'm really really excited because you,will see all the features in this in a,second,but before we get started with the code,you will actually need to migrate to the,newest version,and to migrate they have if you click,Shopify CRI in the documentation they,have a really easy migration guide and,especially if you are on Mac since,Michael you have to do if you have,installed it with Homebrew all you have,to do is really click home brew upgrade,Shopify CLI if you have never installed,Shopify CLI in the first place all you,have to do is just Brew I think add,Shopify CLI and it will go to it will,install the latest version which is,um which is 3.22 for me so yeah,if you are on other uh machines like,Linux or revi or,excuse me or Windows you probably have,installed it with Gem and if you have to,if you had installed it with gem you,need to uninstall the old implementation,and install the new the new,implementation using uh using npm or,yarn or pnpm whatever you like since,it's now hosted on npm because it's a,typescript package it's a node package,and it's no longer a ruby package since,the newest version is actually,built using a typescript the old version,is using Ruby the newest version if you,if we check the GitHub you will see it's,Rewritten in typescript it's not fully,Rewritten in typescript it's actually a,wrapper especially for the teams part,it's a wrapper over the typescript,implementation over the old Rabbi,implementation sorry so yeah,uh now all you have to do is just click,here on global ads at Shopify and it,will add Shopify you will need to,install the core package which is,shopify.cr day and then install the,plugin yeah it's a plugin uh you will,see how the Shopify team commands all,are a plugin it's actually a plugin that,is added to the core CLI to support,Shopify team Commons so now if I,actually once you do that you will have,the latest version,and once you do that,um you can also still use the old,version of the Shopify CLI uh but you,will have to call it to change the pads,especially if you are if you have,installed it with Homebrew you will have,to change the naming using the pads like,like we do if you are if you're ever,used python for example we have python 2,and python for python 3. that's that's,reminds me of that,um the old implementat

hey scott austin here from jade puma in,this video i'm going to show you how to,make new templates for products and for,pages in online store 2.0 themes and,this is a super easy thing it's it's you,have to edit code but it's an easy thing,to do so even if you're not comfortable,editing code you should feel comfortable,going in and making this change yourself,so let's first explain why we'd want,different templates so,here on a product page the gold medal,power package,i have this,gallery of images down here,and if i look at another package the,next button up here,go down to its gallery it's got a,different set of photos and a different,number of photos,so because of that difference in content,i need different templates right um,because you know if we just have,different product descriptions you can,change that content,inside the shopify admin on the product,level but if you want to add a section,with online store 2.0 section anywhere,functionality,and have different content in those,sections you need different templates so,in this store most of the products,actually have their own unique template,made,and then the same thing for pages so,let's just look at the contact us page,this contact us page is built with,sections,obviously with you know the image with,text and maps and all that stuff,and this faq page is built with sections,also with the accordion functionality,so,the content the sections are different,and the content in the sections are,different therefore these two pages need,different templates so we go to the back,end let's just look at pages first,and just show you contact us,all right it has a,template of contact,and faq,has a template of faq so they have,different templates,and just to show you the same thing,inside of products,let's just go to our,packages really quickly here,this,package product,has one template,bodybuilder,and you know the other other products,have different templates you can here,you can see the full list of all the,templates we've made,for the products,um inside of this store so let's show,you how to make a duplicate one and the,really nice thing about this in sections,anywhere is before sections anywhere,depending on your theme you had to edit,multiple files and now,in sections anywhere it's just one file,you need to edit so what you want to do,to get started just open up a new tab,you want to go to the theme that you,want to add the template in which is,probably your live theme,and right here under actions,you want to click on edit code,and what you're going to want to do,let's close out all our existing files,there,and look what we want to do is under,templates,you want to add a new template,and you're going to want to say do you,want to do a page or a product or all,the different types we're doing page and,product today let's just pick page,now you're going to want to keep it as a,json template and i'll explain that in a,second here,so i'm just going to put in test,and and json is a file format in online,sto

hey there internets,pixelgeek here with the udesley tutorial,on how to take your,webflow ecommerce project and convert it,into a shopify theme using udesley's new,app and chrome extension right now let's,go to my screen,and i'll show you how it's done now,before i started recording,i went and grabbed a free webflow,e-commerce template,and you can get this over at webflow.com,templates,now for this conversion you don't have,to start from a template you can,also get start from a blank page,uh and build it from the ground up but,for this demo,i'm starting with a template all right,so,this template has some pre-made pages,like a home page,a products page ooh burgers,nice and for the products,you can see here we got some burger,waldos,mmm bacon okay enough,enough about food let's keep going all,right so pretend that i'm done with the,design,i'm done adding products to the webflow,ecommerce,uh now i want to start the conversion,process so first thing you need to do,is use the handy dandy you desley chrome,extension,just click on it once then choose,webflow to shopify,after that's done cool we have a config,file,let's click out of that click on the,export button at the top,now if you don't have access to this,feature,that probably means that you're on a,free webflow account plan,so what you need to do is,upgrade to a light or higher account,plan and then,you'll get access to this alright now,after that go ahead and prepare the zip,download the zip and yeah we're,done with webflow so we can go ahead and,move on to the next step,which is going to udezly and so,after you log into udesley click on go,to app at the top right,and we're going to choose shopify,there we go i'm going to drag in,that zip file that webflow gave me,for theme configuration i'm going to,choose that config file,press open and for additional assets i'm,not gonna do anything you don't have to,do it,um so you can just skip it i'm gonna,click convert,and magic,it's a template and we can download it,and so when i download it it's giving me,two things,it's giving me the zip file which has,the,theme and then an extra data file that,we'll need,later for the very last step and i'll,get to that soon,so let's go ahead and log into our,shopify account,and let's go ahead and go to customize,theme,so click on customize theme customize,theme again,and i'm going to scroll down and we need,to add a theme,upload zip file,and we're going to drag in that new zip,file,click upload,and let that run and once it's done it's,gonna,start loading it into your account so,we'll need to wait for this to,go through and there we go just added,now we just need to click on the actions,drop down and click,publish and then publish again,and there we go our theme is published,so now we need to do one last step,with this extra file that we have so,shopify has a webflow importer app,inside of shopify,and so we're going to do that and we're,going to,log into the store paste it there we go,login,choose my account,come on we
