hey what's going on graduates so i want,to build a community-based theme,we want to do this for a while,you know and i want to collaborate with,the community i want to collaborate with,e-com store owners and just create a,badass theme for free,now,i want you all to to dictate what,features go into this theme now i'm,going to show you some of the work that,we've done my wife and i we own a,company called ecom graduates as you,should know already and we focus,primarily on custom theme development,for shopify and various platforms but,primarily shopify and that's what i want,to focus on shopify released shopify 2.0,i think last year and it just changed,the game it allowed you to do a lot of,cool things a lot of unique things that,i haven't seen anybody do yet,and our themes are very fast,they they load within like 800 you know,600 800 milliseconds,like they're very very fast and we build,app-like functionalities into these,custom teams we also develop you know,custom apis various integrations you,know you would come to us with,very,very complex issues and what you would,do is you would um you know say hey i,want to take this data over here and i,want you to make it usable over here and,that's that's what we do at econ,graduates but what i want to do is i,want to develop a theme with a lot of,these features built in and you tell us,what you want and we'll go and do it and,we'll uh you know work with everybody,because,i think,a lot of stores all look the same and,that's what we focus on we want to take,people take someone's brand and really,you know scale it up with you know a,nice well-designed theme but anyways,let's show you what we're working on,currently and what we've already already,worked on and you can always look at our,portfolio go to ecom graduates dot com,the link will be in the description,below or if you're in the group just,comment below and or look at the,description in the group and also,comment below if you guys are interested,if you think this would be really cool,and you want to be involved if you're a,developer and you want to be involved i,will most likely open source the theme,as well but anyways i'm going to show,you some of the work that we've done,this is a theme that we're actually,currently working on,um it's we call it eg big store if you,guys want to go to eg hyphen big,store.myshopify.com the password is one,and so is eg smartshop now this is a,free theme that we currently have,right here this is you can actually go,and download it and use it for free,and the password for this is also one so,eg hyphen,smartshop.myshopify.com and,lastly our website ecom graduates.com,you can take a look at our portfolio you,can also take a look at testimonials if,you you know want to hire us but that's,not what this for so this eg big store,we don't have it out released yet we're,still fine tuning it this will be a paid,theme but it's not going to be like 200,some odd dollars you know where a lot of,people charge stupid amounts of money

your website has to work and so much of,that comes down to,your theme,if you want your ecom store to succeed,it has to give your customers what,they're looking for,your website has to work and so much of,that comes down to your,theme hey boutique owner and other,e-commerce friends angela here ceo of,hotmass consulting,and today i'm talking to you all about,themes,and p.s i'm so biased about my favorite,theme,but stick around to see what my top,project managers are recommending to our,clients too,and hey if you're into all things,shopify make sure you hit the subscribe,button to stay in the hot mess loop,okay so let's dig into our top five,shopify themes and why we love them,i'm going to actually get into some,examples,and show you some of the things that i,actually love but,before i do that i want to go over for a,minute just,like in a bigger picture sense the,tips that i have for you on choosing a,theme in the first place so,this is helpful if you're working on,this on your own or if you're one of our,current clients and we're currently,helping you choose the best thing,now how much does a theme really matter,well it really varies business to,business if you're extremely new and,you're just wanting to slap something up,to get the basics going you,are not going to have to your you know,it's not as big of a deal,what theme that you pick um,but if you're at a point in your,business where you're bringing in a,decent amount of traffic and revenue,already and you're looking to increase,your conversion rate,and you're just ready to really level up,then you want to be,a little bit more strategic when you're,picking your theme,because there is a lot to it so let me,get into our tips,um first of all look beyond the images,and branding on the demo site,so when you were pulling up these demo,sites they all look lovely right,but you have to think like all of those,images and any graphics that are,involved,they don't come with the theme and they,also don't,properly represent the ins and outs of,that theme because those same images and,graphics can be used on any theme,really so if you let how it looks,aesthetically,um now i'm not talking about how it's,laid out because the layout,does have to do with the theme but,um you know it's just the actual imagery,used and the fonts and you know things,like that like don't let that stuff hold,you up or,be your deciding factor because when you,really buy a theme and you look at,the blank theme there you know there are,no images no text no fonts it's,it's uh it's just completely empty,you know it doesn't look like anything,so you kind of want to,do what you can to just imagine,um that that's not part of the equation,in terms of you picking your theme now,when you are looking at themes that's,why,themes also offered a few different,options,um a few different well let me just show,you really quick uh,okay so if you are looking,at a theme there's always these options,here,and then you can view the demo in each,one these are

welcome to our weekly,badass business fights i'm so excited,you're here we're going to be talking,all about,shopify's online store 2.0 and,i have a demo for you i know we have a,lot of new faces here so,if we've never met my name is jessica,and i am an e-commerce and email,marketing strategist for,scrappy entrepreneurs i'm also host of,the e-commerce badassery podcast which,this week's episode i talked all about,shopify's online store 2.0,but i you know it's kind of hard to,explain that stuff over audio so i,wanted to,pop in here today and give you a demo,so quickly and just to kind of recap so,um during shopify unite which is,an event for developer shopify announced,this new,online store 2.0 which is completely,changing the way,you customize your site it also changes,the way you're going to start working,with,apps and gives you access to,meta fields that you can use on the,front end of your store,which i'm going to show you as well,so let's pop right on,into shopify i'm going to let me get,into the editor here,and let's add this to the stream all,right,so what you can what you're looking at,right now,is in the theme customizer so this is,when you are in shopify,you go to online store you go to themes,and you go to customize,if you are an existing business you will,not see this yet but it is coming,if you start a store i think it's after,june 29th,or june 30th um you will have the dawn,theme by default and this is what you,will see,so as you can see it's pretty,similar i'm on a product right now let,me,go into the home page here,it's pretty similar but,when you look over on this left hand,side you have this,tree right of all the different fields,and you can add blocks in here,and usually in most cases if you were to,go to your product page for example,you wouldn't see all of this information,right but now we have,way more flexibility in what our product,pages and really all the pages on our,website can look like they're all,modular,it's amazing i'm super excited for this,this has been a long long time coming,so the one thing i do want to say is,when this comes around i don't want you,to go,crazy with customizing what your product,pages look like,you know take advantage of the extra,features that you have,but don't go crazy changing the layout,of your product page and things like,that because the consumer,right is used to seeing product pages in,a particular way,we don't want to confuse them so i just,want to make sure,that i mentioned that to you so let's,just go back in here really quick so,we can kind of see what this looks like,so here is your typical home page it has,some,placeholder content in it right when i,come over,here i can add additional blocks,to this banner right like if we look at,this little tree here,so you've got the image banner then,we've got the featured,collection and we have image with text,so you have separate sections,and then blocks within those sections,now of course there's going to be some,limitations here so if i don

people love tommy shelby from peaky,blinders he's a quiet introverted,character and at the same time extremely,charismatic while you don't want to be,like tommy in every way there are eight,habits you can learn from him to,instantly command more respect from the,people around you and even though peaky,blinders is a scripted tv show all the,psychology covered in today's video will,apply to your actual life also this,video has a few scenes from season 6 but,no spoilers the first thing that you see,from tommy is that he has slow relaxed,movements when he isn't physically,fighting he's almost never in a rush for,example notice how slowly tommy moves in,this next clip and how it instantly,gives you the sense that he's above,feeling intimidated,talking to you mr shelby,when you move slowly and comfortably in,a situation where most people would be,stressed it shows that you don't feel,scared or pressured along with the slow,movements there's a second body language,habit you saw that helps tommy appear,confident tommy is comfortable holding,eye contact even during conflict right,he's the oldest you're the thickest i'm,told the boss is called tommy and i'm,guessing that's you because you're,looking me up and down like i'm a tart,i want to know what you want,well you're gonna die,right yeah,we talked about this briefly in the,alfie video the one mistake you could,make after watching scenes like this is,trying to hold eye contact all the time,but holding eye contact during conflict,can actually escalate the tension if,neither of you is willing to break so,the goal isn't to never break eye,contact it's just to know what your,behavior signals to other people hold if,you want to show you aren't intimidated,look down if your priority is to,de-escalate and if you want to diffuse,the situation without projecting fear or,discomfort you can hold eye contact for,three to five seconds and then break to,the side instead of down at a high level,tommy's ability to command respect in,moments of conflict comes from the fact,that he's not reactive to hostility,notice how much confidence tommy can,project without even speaking,being non-reactive shows you feel,confident in your ability to handle,whatever is happening it's hard not to,respect someone who keeps their cool in,situations where most people would lose,it here's another funny example of just,how non-reactive tommy can be he,researches his enemies,that's why he's been chosen,i am jose,i'm jones,could the chosen one smoke this is,obviously an extreme example and,hopefully none of us will ever have to,deal with trying to keep cool with a gun,to our head but it's a good example of,how tommy's non-reactivity projects,confidence under pressure of course the,goal here isn't to fake that you're okay,while freaking out on the inside it's to,cultivate a genuine deep internal,confidence we'll talk more about how to,do that at the end of this video there,is one more quick body language habit,you should steal from tommy if you

what's going on guys and welcome back to,the channel last video we talked about,setting up a Shopify store from scratch,the very first basic things that you,have to do so today we're going to start,going into like a day 2 scenario for the,case study I'm going to take you guys,through the new store that I started and,what I'm gonna be doing about my next,step so let's get into it ok guys so the,first thing we're gonna do is get a,little home page inspiration and just,kind of understand what the trends are,and what the bigger stores are doing,that are using Shopify so just for a,little bit of context I started my new,Shopify store that I'm gonna be taking,on camera and kind of documenting from,zero all that's my first sale and I'll,keep making videos after that but,basically zone of action it's going to,be a motivational patriotic apparel,company and basically tying that to my,roots of serving in the Navy so to kind,of get going and all I have is kind of,like the the navigation setup and a,banner image which I'll eventually,changing just wanted it kind of a vibe,going and then I just have my grid built,out kind of how I want it to look got my,Instagram feed in there just the general,consensus and then this is going to be,the district theme for anybody that's,you know looking to buy a theme or just,want some theme advice I really like the,district theme I think that there are,better ones out there but for me I've,used it in the past so I'm gonna go with,it for now,so first thing I'm gonna do with you get,kind of inspiration and see what the,bigger sites are doing I'm gonna go to,Google and I'm gonna type in my IP DMS,Shopify so when you do this you're gonna,click the very top result so my IP dot,MS Shopify I'm gonna go to this first,page which is going to look like this,I've already kind of done this we can,move quickly through the video so you're,gonna come to the screen like this my,pms website and basically this is just,searching for all the stores that are,that our Shopify stores because they use,the same IP address I believe if they're,not hosted by Shopify maybe they won't,come up in this list but I could be,wrong about that but basically it's,gonna it's gonna get all of the Shopify,stores and mate and put them in a list,of top most popular to least popular and,there's probably there's like a thousand,pages of,that come out but we're just gonna focus,on the top you know 50 to 100 stores so,essentially what you're gonna want to do,is search through these top stores you,can see colour-pop is the most popular,Shopify store in the world,you have fashion OVA Jim shark spigen so,what I'm gonna do is work my way down,this list and pick stores that are of,somewhat you know similarity it doesn't,have to be this specific in each so,right now I'm not going to look for,another patriotic apparel company but,I'm gonna look at say Jim shark because,my brand is going to be somewhat fitness,and motivated related and Jim shark has,similar elements in it too so

so,oh,so,foreign,so,do,boom,welcome to our weekly badass business,fights super excited i know it's been a,while since we've been live together,we're talking about shopify 2.0,and whether or not you should,even bother switching so if you're here,with me live say hello tell me where,you're watching from if you're watching,the replay give me a hashtag replay as,you noticed i had a little bit longer of,a countdown it felt a little long right,but i wanted to give everyone time to,get the notification and to come because,facebook hasn't been super friendly with,the event invites lately so,i'm trying something new,um we are going live with stream yard so,if you've never given permission please,go up to the description and give,permission so that i can see your name,when you comment,all right so,one other quick housekeeping thing,hi amy hi facebook user,is if you are a lounge member this,replay will also be added to the lounge,so if you don't get to watch the whole,thing or you want to come back and,re-watch it you'll be able to do that in,your membership hub so,let's talk shopify 2.0,there are two main features that make,shopify 2.0,different than what you were already,using,um and we're going to talk about both of,those today i'm going to show you what,they look like and give you some ideas,on how you can use them so you can,figure out if it makes sense for you or,not because,while it sounds cool,switching themes is kind of a pain in,the ass on shopify right they're,completely independent of one another,you have to redo all of your settings,you have to reintegrate apps you have to,redo your home page so it can be a lot,of work and it takes a lot of time now,we are in q1 so now is a great time to,do it but maybe you have other things,that you're focused on like driving,traffic or expanding your product line,or working on your email marketing so i,don't want you to feel like you have to,do this maybe it's not a q1 project for,you maybe it's a q2 maybe it's a next,year,you are not required to upgrade by,shopify your existing theme and all of,that is going to continue to work as,expected so don't feel like you know you,have to do it like your site is gonna,break because that's not what's gonna,happen okay so let's talk about the two,main features and if at any point you,guys have questions pop them in the,comments and i will answer them along,the way,the first one is called metafields and i,know it sounds like a fancy word but all,meta fields are are additional fields,that you can store data in on the,product profile so where you go to put,you know the title the description the,vendor the product type it's just,additional fields that are housed there,where you can add additional information,about your products,now shopify always had meta fields they,were always a thing but you needed an,app to access them whereas now they live,natively inside of the shopify admin,my previous day job we use meta fields,for a lot actually,but most smaller stores likely are n
