i'm going to show you how to turn your,photo hero banner into a video hero,banner this works for any shopify 2.0,theme no special coding skills are,required anyone can do this,before we get into the video if you like,videos about winning products drop,shipping shopify themes apps and,tutorials do us a favor and hit that,subscribe button and turn notifications,on now let's get into the video i'm,going to show you how to do this for,shopify's free theme dawn but you can do,the same thing for any 2.0 theme i've,tried this on shopify's newest themed,taste and since as well so i'm confident,this will work with any 2.0 theme you,try but if you do end up running into,any issues and need some help you can,visit our website and fill out a store,tweaks request and we can help you out,all right so the first thing we are,going to do is duplicate your existing,theme i'm not suggesting this because i,think it's going to mess up your store,but rather so you can work on this,without it interfering with your live,store,to do this click actions,duplicate,once your theme has successfully,duplicated click on actions,edit code,now if you're tensing up and thinking,you should click off at this point,because you don't want to mess around,with the code don't worry this is a,simple copy and paste code you don't,need to do anything further,now scroll down to sections,and click add new section,name it video dash background,then click create section,you're going to have some auto-generated,code in here so just highlight and erase,all that and instead we're going to,paste in the video code for the video,code a huge thank you to ecomexperts.io,for sharing the original code i altered,some of the code in order for it to work,with 2.0 themes there was a spacing,issue with the original code and i also,switched up the look but if you're using,an older non-2.0 shopify theme such as,debut their original code will likely,work for you,i'm going to put their website in the,description box below but for,simplicity's sake rather than directing,you to their website to copy the code,and then walking you through all the,edits i just created a text document,with the updated code which you can,download from our private facebook group,so when you have the code just copy the,contents and then paste it into your,file here,and click save,now let's check to see if our section,has been added so click on online store,and click customize,then scroll down to the bottom,click add section,and you should see video background go,ahead and click on that,now i'm going to drag this right up to,the top because i want it to be my hero,banner,if you click on video slide you can see,all of your options here,the first thing we're going to do is add,our video now if you don't have a video,i highly recommend going to pexels.com,to find one it's my favorite website for,free high quality photos and videos type,in anything that would work for what you,sell so if you have a pet store you,might type in dog or if you sel

in shopify the default contact form is,pretty basic,you pretty much only have name email,phone number and a message field but,what if you want to ask your customer a,few more questions right what if you,need to have a custom contact form most,people will use apps for this there are,a lot of form builder apps on the,shopify app store and they're pretty,good they allow you to build completely,custom forms but i think in many cases,they're kind of overkill because it's,actually easy enough to just copy and,paste some of the form fields,and create your own fields when you just,want to add a couple of extra questions,right so on my website for example i'm,asking people for,their,store url for their website because a,lot of my youtube subscribers use my,contact form so i'd like to know their,website we can also easily enough add,a drop down,or a check box,or radio buttons so that people can,toggle,it's not very difficult to do this stuff,so i want to teach you how to do that,and there's a few advantages to doing,this instead of using an app okay so,firstly you don't need to pay for an app,secondly it'll look nicer because it'll,be part of your theme it will still be,part of your theme design uh whereas,apps sometimes even though they let you,you know play with the,design of the fields they may not look,as,seamless when they're in your website,thirdly apps kind of slow down your site,a little bit you might notice that the,page loads first and then the app,form loads afterwards,and yeah in general i just try to avoid,apps in shopify when i don't really need,them,because if you use an app for every,single little thing that you need in,shopify then you'll have like 30 or 40,apps and you'll be paying five dollars,ten dollars a month for each one of them,and a lot of them will slow down your,store load a lot of extra code so i just,try to avoid apps wherever i can,and,that's partly what i teach on this,channel is how to get things down,without the use of apps so yeah i'm,gonna split this video into like three,different videos about 10 minutes each,because i just think that's the best way,to split up the subjects firstly i'm,going to show you how to,access the contact form code and how to,back up that code so that you can always,return it back to the default okay,next i'm going to show you how to remove,a field and how to change the,placeholder text of the fields so like,where it says name and email and all of,that you can change it to say something,else you can also change the the send,button you can change the thank you,message that people see after they send,the form so that's going to be part one,a nice slow introduction that's going to,be this video,then part two the next video is going to,be how to actually add custom fields so,i will probably show you how to add a,simple text field i might also show you,how to add a large text area then maybe,a drop down,maybe a check box something like that,and then in part three i'll show you how,to add completely di

every Shopify store is using Google,analytics but not everyone is using,Google search console I think because,analytics is pretty easy to connect,there's a place in the Shopify dashboard,where you add your Google analytics code,or ID whereas for search console there's,nothing like that so people maybe get,confused and just neglect it just forget,about it but it's actually really,important that you set up search console,if you want to be found organically,through Google search so if you found,this video I'm assuming you already know,what Google search console is the rest,of this video is going to be a tutorial,however I'll quickly spend one minute to,recap the three main functions of Google,search console just in case the first,function is of course SEO research so,search console will let you see the,exact phrases that people are typing,into Google and then finding your site,it'll let you see which Pages they're,landing on most of all which Pages the,most popular in Google search results as,well as which countries people are from,which devices they're using when they,search for your store and that way you,can understand if maybe there's a,specific blog post or a specific product,that is attracting most of your traffic,and then you can double down on that,content right so SEO research is the,first thing the second thing is to,communicate directly with Google so,search console is kind of a tool that,lets you inform Google about changes you,make on your website or just when you,set up a new website you can ask Google,to index and crawl that website faster,than it usually would if it just found,you out there on the internet and the,third main function of search console is,to alert you about any kind of SEO,issues on your website you'll actually,get emails from Google when they detect,that there's something wrong with your,website that you can maybe fix for,example broken links 404 pages right,maybe duplicate pages on your website,maybe to debug structured data or Rich,Snippets if you're setting that up know,what I'm talking about,um and even small usability issues,especially on mobile things like the,text being too small to read the buttons,being too close together or if you have,pop-ups showing on mobile and covering,your content and you can't close the,pop-up or something like that that,should not be happening Google will,actually email you about things like,that so that you can get them fixed ASAP,so that's it those are the three main,reasons that you need Google search,console the rest of this video is going,to be a tutorial on how to set it up one,last thing that I'll mention is that,your website needs to be live in order,to set up search console because Google,needs to be able to see what's on your,site it can't be behind a password page,or a coming soon page if you're not,ready to launch just yet but you want to,set it up then I recommend that just,publishing for like 15 minutes while you,follow this video and set it up and then,hide your websi

all right so back with another video,about a problem that i think every,shopify developer will have sooner or,later and that is the invalid session,token if you don't know what i'm talking,about i will show you a an example right,here so,um i've got my app right here and it's,this getting started page that you need,for uh the ux requirement for every,shopify app and this,page should show you which theme is,installed and if that theme has a theme,app blocks installed or not so in order,to find that out i created a controller,in my laravel backend which will check,which theme there is and if that theme,has a an app lock enabled or not and,then it will return true or false and,um,that app is supposed to,show if app locks are installed or not,right but,i have an error right here a 4,4,oo error,and it says session token is invalid,right,and,in this video i want to show you,how easy it actually is to to solve this,problem,and um before we jump in,i,want to,tell you that i'm thinking about i,making a tutorial on how to create this,app right here it's a very very simple,app it's just an app that um will,display or animate the buy button in the,um,in the shopify,storefront,and it's really nothing that much of a,deal but i think if i make a tutorial or,a course about this um about this app,you will learn a lot so if you're,interested in it then uh write it in the,comments and i will start to make a,course on,shopify app development right,so,now to the problem,the problem that we're having is um this,invalid session token and we will get,the session token,from,shopify app bridge you can see it right,here it's a method that you can import,from,shopify average,so you will have to make sure that you,have this mpm package average installed,and if you have that installed then we,can check out how to solve that problem,so let's jump to vs code all right so,you can see my request right here it's,just a regular get request from axios,and in this request um i will,make a call to the uh controller which,will then find out if the app blocks are,enabled or not and then it's going to,return the theme name and it's also,going to return if the app locks are,enabled or not or else it's going to,return an error right so very basic uh,things are going on right here and now i,want to show you how you can,add an interceptor to this call right,here,so the first thing that you will have to,make sure is that you will create an,instance of your app from a bridge and,you're going to do that by,saying const,app,and say use average right so now you,have created an instance of your app,we're going to need that later the next,thing that we will do,is we're going to,create an instance,of axios,because we will need that instance to,add an interceptor to that all right so,we're going to say const,instance,axios,create,where now we want to intercept,all requests on this,axios instance,and we're going to do that by,taking our instance,saying enter,scepters,request,use,and we're going to giv

my name is chris reifenberg i'm an,attorney and the author of the ada book,i'm also the founder of accessible.org,so that i can officially provide a,transcript in closed captions i will,read from the transcript itself,so many shopify store owners have been,the recipients of litigation and i am,frequently asked what they can do to,make their website accessible and ada,compliant,before i respond to store owners i,looked at what shopify had to say on the,matter,her the shopify help center under,accessibility for theme shopify writes,quote when you customize your theme it's,a good idea to make design and content,choices that help to keep your online,store accessible,on this page shopify provides several,tips for accessibility derived from the,web content accessibility guidelines or,wcag,but what i didn't see was a definitive,stance from shopify i can partly,understand why shopify hasn't fully,embraced accessibility and potentially,ada compliance and that's because,shopify knows that it cannot control,the customizations that customers can,make to their website teams nor would it,want to but there is more that shopify,can do to ensure that their customers,start with a better base of,accessibility out of the box,um also under the tips section of the,help center it says quote if you're a,developer then you can further optimize,your theme for accessibility using,shopify tools and best practices in,quote and that's followed by a page with,some helpful guidance for developers,which is a good thing this is headed in,the right direction but there's more,work to be done,when we look at the app store there are,multiple apps such as accessibility,enabler accessibly and others,first these apps will not make your,website conform with the web content,accessibility guidelines wcag there is,nothing you can buy,no software no application no widget,that can turn an inaccessible website,into an accessible one,although ada compliance in terms of what,it means for the digital world is,uncertain what is certain is that these,various widgets toolbars and or overlays,are wholly insufficient in many ways,and do not make your website accessible,two significant legal problems with,these automated quote-unquote solutions,include failures to provide meaningful,access,which is the legal standard under the,americans with disabilities act or ada,and creation of a separate and unequal,experience,i highly recommend that any,accessibility apps are removed from the,app store as they are only distractions,and deceive website owners into a false,and sense of security a false sense of,accessibility and compliance with the,law second to shopify i'd love to work,with you on accessibility certifying,themes for out of the box accessibility,and reducing legal risk for your,customers,your customers have been and currently,are ongoing targets for litigation and i,can help reduce that risk,third to shopify owners,there is only one approach to,accessibility and is that is through a,manual audit of
