hey everybody tony from shooting star,svg back and today i'm going to talk to,you guys about how to upload and install,a themeforest theme,for your shopify website,so this your first time here go ahead,and click on like and subscribe below as,that does keep me motivated to continue,making these videos so that way you can,grow your business and change your life,and if you haven't already head on over,to the facebook group where we are,creating a community of like-minded,individuals looking to grow their,semi-passive income with digital,downloads i'm going to show you all how,to upload a theme,into your shopify store from the theme,forest,envato marketplace okay,um and i'm also gonna go through,potential error message that you may get,when you're trying to upload your theme,so hopefully you don't run into that,because i did notice that,there have been some people complaining,about this,so i'll show you how you can get into,the back end of your file there okay so,i'm on the shopify dashboard,and to do this you're just going to,click on online store and you're going,to click on themes but before we get,started with that i am going to go ahead,and open up envato and this is what,you're going to see when you first log,in and you can see there's just like a,whole bunch of stuff on this now the,most common mistake that i see people,make is that they do not they just go,purchase whatever theme looks good what,they fail to do is they don't make sure,that it is a shopify compatible theme,and this is crucial so when i do,troubleshooting for people that have,found me on youtube uh which i will also,put this up on my youtube channel is,they're like i can't get this to upload,i've tried you know you're you're,troubleshooting and i'm failing forward,i will say 9.8 times out of 10 they have,downloaded a theme that is not,compatible with shopify so to make sure,that you do not do that you can utilize,the link that is posted below to get to,the page you need to but you can also go,to web themes and templates ecommerce,and then scroll down and,click on shopify,this will ensure that all of these,themes here will be compatible with,shopify okay so this is the theme that,i'm currently using and then i'm also,going to show you,some debunking with one of the other,ones that that didn't show up properly,okay so once you purchase your theme you,can go ahead into your back office,you'll get an email confirmation and,you're just going to download that and,you're going to download it and it's,going to be a,zip file so you can see here i have the,walkie theme that i just purchased and,then this is the one i'm going to show,you for the troubleshooting okay,so you're going to go back over to,your online store you're going to click,on themes and you're just going to click,on add theme and you're going to upload,a zip file and it's going to pop up with,this window so you can just go ahead and,drag that in so i'm going to open this,window back up,and i'm going to go ahead and um un

if you've recently purchased a shopify,theme from somewhere other than shopify,you likely received a zip file with your,purchase,in order to use your new shopify theme,you'll need to upload that zip file into,your shopify admin,so to do that head on over to online,store in the left-hand navigation,and by default you will be taken to the,themes page,as you can see here we're currently,using the debut theme,and this is a free shopify theme that,you can get through shopify,and if you scroll down the page just a,little down to the theme library area,you'll see that you have a few options,you can explore free themes which is,basically going through all of the free,themes that shopify has to offer,you can also visit the theme store where,you can browse through,free and paid shopify themes,and of course shopify isn't the only,place where you can buy shopify themes,i will certainly leave a few links in,the description below where you can find,other premium shopify themes,and as much as free themes are great you,know because they're free,they can be somewhat limited when it,comes to features and options,and that kind of thing a premium shopify,theme is going to give you more options,when it comes to things like features,designs and just,its overall capabilities as far as an,e-commerce theme goes,so let's say you've gone ahead and,purchased a theme and you've got that,zip file,head on over to the upload theme button,and then browse through your file,folders and upload that zip file,once you see the zip file go ahead and,click on upload file,and now your zip file has been uploaded,however that's not the last step you,need to now publish the theme so that it,shows up on your estore,to do that hover over and click on,actions,you can preview this new theme or you,can just publish it right away so let's,go ahead and preview just to see what it,looks like,and here we can see the new theme in,action,but let's head back to the shopify admin,and now that we see what it looks like,and we're happy with it we'll go ahead,and publish,and it will ask are you sure you want to,publish this new theme it will replace,your current theme,so let's go ahead and publish,and there you can see the new warehouse,theme has been installed,and published so if we head on back to,our store,and refresh the page we now see the new,theme,has been installed and it's ready to go,you

to talk to you today about upgrading,your theme to the latest version.,Now, there comes a time in every
merchant's journey after they've,bought our, one of our themes after
they've set it up, it's running, it's,making sales and you let it run for
three months, six months a year and,eventually you'll need to upgrade.,That reason for upgrading
could be one of many.,Maybe there's a new feature that's in
one of our latest versions that you,wanna take advantage of; a new section.,Maybe there is an app that you're
trying to integrate with that works,best with the latest version of our
theme, or maybe there's a bug that,was introduced for one of many reasons
that is fixed in the latest version.,One of the things that you get when
you purchase one of our themes is,access to the latest versions for
the entire life of that product.,Actually getting that theme installed
is another process in itself.,And it will vary depending on the number
of customizations that you've made and,how complex those customizations are.,We recommend that you upgrade
your theme at least once a year,,especially before any big sales season
like black Friday, summer Monday.,Now, when it comes to upgrading,
you have three options available to,you: manually updating, the theme
updater app, or hiring a professional.,So without further ado, let's get
started exploring our first option,,manually updating your theme.,The process of manually updating
your theme involves copying and,pasting configuration files from
the old version to the new version.,In addition to these configuration
files, you might also need to be copying,customizations that were done to the
previous version, such as styling tweaks,done by a developer or modifications made
by an app when it was installed, so that,it integrates properly with your theme.,It's really dependent on your particular
situation and the setup that you have,achieved with your previous theme.,Let's take a look at how we
go about copying configuration,files from one theme to another.,So here we have our store, as you
can see, we, our published theme,has expands version 2.4 installed.,And below here we have expands 3.1
installed as an unpublished theme.,Now you can see if we were to
preview this new version of expands.,It doesn't look at all
like our published theme.,These are the default styles
that are provided with expand.,So to get started, let's go to
our online code editor, edit code,,and let's start with the global

all right guys so in this video i'm,going to be showing you how you can go,ahead and,customize your debut theme within,shopify so debut theme,is the theme that all shopify stores,start out with,by default when you go ahead and start a,shopify store and if you haven't already,opened your shopify store yet you can,start your 14 day free trial by clicking,the first link in the description,so i figured i'd make this video because,debut theme,is one of the most commonly used themes,because it's the one that all stores,start out with and the view theme,actually looks,really good so right here we can see,that this is what debut theme looks like,when it's first installed with,absolutely nothing filled out,so we can see that we have where our,logo should be,we have a big header right here with,some text we have an image here,we have three images with text below,here we have,a uh empty collection and we have,another,um header type image right here another,wallpaper image,we have some testimonials and we have,three images down here,and then we have the footer so,right now we have a nice little template,but it's blank,so if you're looking to go ahead and,fill out,your um store using debut theme,the first thing you're going to want to,make sure you have is,a few key things so i'm going to bring,up a notepad and just make sure,because before you go ahead and start,the design process you're going to need,a couple things so the first one is,going to be a logo,so i assume you already have a logo at,this point if you're ready to start your,store design but if not,then make sure you get a logo first,because everything else is going to be,based around the logo,and then we're going to have a color,scheme selected,and normally this color scheme is going,to,be derived from colors from your logo,and typically,you're going to use one to two colors,to base your entire store around and,like i said these colors will be derived,from the logo and the next thing we're,going to need,is a couple wallpaper photos,so we can see we're going to need some,photos to go ahead and put back here in,this header,we need some photos to put back here and,this header as well,so if you have any large photos related,to your business,go ahead and upload them to your,computer or,put them all in one folder so we can go,ahead and,use them as backgrounds here and if you,don't you can use,different sites such as pixabay,to find free stock images that you can,go ahead and use,so let's just type in something like,fishing,so if you had a store related to fishing,you could go ahead and just,look for different stock photos here,or maybe you have something related to,yoga,or fitness you can type in a lot,of different niches depending on what,your store is based around,and you can use some of these wallpapers,to go ahead and put back here,now obviously i do think it's better if,you have your own,custom photos but uh you know not,everyone's gonna have that starting out,so if you don't you can go ahead and us

hey this is ryan from web eminence and,in this video i'm going to show you an,option for finding Shopify design themes,that you probably didn't even know,existed,Shopify is a fast growing e-commerce,platform that hosts over 300,000 stores,at the moment most new store owners,browse the Shopify theme store to find a,design for their store and there are,some great themes there I can actually,link to another video I created that,highlights some of their themes but what,many people don't realize is that,template monster one of the Internet's,largest sources for web design templates,actually sells Shopify themes template,monster actually reached out to me and,asked if I would cover their Shopify,themes in a review video so here's my,honest review of purchasing and,installing a Shopify theme from template,monster now I'm on the template monster,homepage and as you can see they have a,ton of themes in different categories,like WordPress themes joomla templates,PrestaShop themes i'm going to go under,the e-commerce template category and,click on Shopify themes you can see,today at the time of this video and they,have 251 themes I think on the Shopify,theme store there's under 100 themes so,obviously you're getting a big selection,by choosing or browsing themes from,template monster so here's a look at,some of their themes you can view them,by category here on the left and then,you can click on any of these themes and,view a live demo after browsing some of,their themes for a while I chose this,one called handbag boutique like some of,the features on the homepage this image,here on a transparent parallax,background is pretty cool at the top you,can see there's this drop-down menu that,can be hidden they have some featured,products another parallax image at the,bottom with a newsletter so a lot of,this can be customized in Shopify most,of their themes are $139 for Shopify at,least I'm going to go ahead and purchase,this by clicking buy now and you'll see,on the Left they do have a bunch of,add-ons you can purchase,like installation or color changes you,can purchase some of the image files to,go with the theme I'm going to just,purchase the single site license for,$139 so I went through the ordering,process it was pretty simple to enter,some information and then I did a PayPal,payment took me back to this page where,it says please keep this page open we,may give you a call to confirm your,order so I'm just going to pause the,video and wait I assume they do this for,security reasons okay someone from,template monster did call me to verify,my name and the fact that I had,purchased something on template monster,and then I was able to verify my email,address and then I was able to go back,to my account and go to the downloads,page and that takes me here where I can,download the Shopify theme it looks like,there's documentation here which I'm,going to take a look at first and that,just takes me to Shopify comm and,information on installing a Shopify,theme so in o
