yo what up everybody ari here and,welcome back to another video so when we,think of 100 million dollar plus,brands or even let's say people worth,over 100 million dollars or even,billionaires we think of people like,jeff,bezos or elon musk who have innovated,and created insane technologies but,let's not forget that one of the richest,people in the world is bernard,arnault who is the chairman and ceo of,lvmh which is the largest luxury goods,company in the world,with names such as louis vuitton which,i'm sure some of you guys have heard of,so point is fashion is a huge space so,in today's video i wanted to do a short,little case study on a fashion brand,that i believe,has some amazing design that we can,learn from and a few marketing tactics,that they use that i think are really,smart,now if you don't have your own,e-commerce business don't worry i'm sure,you can still get a lot of inspiration,from this video,but of course if you are an e-commerce,store owner this will be insanely,valuable,so without further ado let's get right,into it,so as you can see the brand that we're,discussing today,is called baller and the reason i,mentioned the 100 million dollar,valuations is because when i did a,little bit of research i found that that,is their estimated,web sales now the thing about this brand,is that they've been around since 2013,so they have a little bit over seven,years so they've been in business for a,relatively,long amount of time but if you really,think about it that's not that long,and it's really insane to think that a,brand of this age is already,well over 100 million dollars deep in,web sales,that's one tenth of a billion but still,considering the short amount of time,that they've been a thing,i think that's obviously super,impressive and definitely something to,strive towards,now what i really love about this brand,is their design,so i've actually never shopped here,before i don't know exactly how good the,quality of their products are but,if we take a look at their price tags we,can assume that a lot of their products,have high craftsmanship are very high,quality and these,i would definitely consider luxury goods,now i really personally love,this bag right here because the sky blue,looks really dope that's one of my,favorite colors,but yeah that price tag is a little,concerning however as i mentioned this,store,is absolutely killing it and i,personally love the minimal design,that they offer it kind of makes the,products speak for themselves and even,though,this is super expensive and i personally,probably wouldn't shop here i could,definitely see,people who are very into luxury goods,wanting to shop at a store like this,now if we look at their instagram they,have over 1.2 million followers that is,an insanely big community,and they got the clean baller instagram,handle and also the baller.com which is,super clean i love when things,are congruent like that with a brand i,think people underlook,the value of having just a really clean,name

theme uh before doing any code changes ,I suggest you guys to make a copy of
your theme so you can easily revert ,back if you mess up anything in the
court so let's duplicate our theme,okay here is the copy of Debut,which we know that it's the original code we
can also rename it from here so to make sure ,that we have a backup of our uh theme ready
now what I'm gonna do I'll go to edit code,and here we have assets, click on assets and ,add a new font whatever you like now
let's search in some fonts, free fonts,okay here we have our font,okay which one you like,I like this one it's different let's
try this one okay now click on download,give it a second to download,I guess i'll need to click on it again oh yeah ,download here we have the zip folder now let's
go to unzip it download here's our folder,extract all,okay now we have a font here now issue with
this font file is that it's "TTF" and Shopify ,do not accept the TTF format we
will have to convert it to WOFF ,or WOFF2 format which is acceptable in Shopify,
now let's convert it using an online converter ,online font converters I'm going to google it and
there's a website where we can convert our fonts ,oh! there's another one
which is onlineconverter.net,okay weird that's one is also not working
let's search some other online phone converters ,and let's try this one ,okay, let's convert our ttf file to woff and
there's the folder where we have font and ,the ttf file, and I'm going to convert it to WOFF
web open font okay here's the web open font start,okay, our font is ready! now let's download it ,our font is downloaded now we will upload it
to our Shopify asset add an asset, choose file,oops! sorry I uploaded the ttf version, ,let's upload the woff version which we converted,
and here's the WOFF version open upload asset ,and here we have woff version now let's
apply it to our theme find the CSS file,here's our CSS file main CSS file

hello and welcome to the out of the,sandbox video guide to the retina 4.0,shopify themed homepage setup now using,Shopify sections today we're going to,take a look at how you can go from a,fresh upload of the new version of the,retina theme to a highly customized,version that will look just like this,austan leather goods demo shop which we,will be using as our model for this,tutorial so it will look just like this,at the end of the day so first and,foremost let's take a look at what we're,already working with on the Shopify,admin panel so here I am on my admin,panel and I can go here to products,where you'll see we already have a,selection of products and these products,have product titles and descriptions,types tags images prices all of the,attributes that you would expect to see,with a product additionally these,products have been categorised into a,couple of collections the products and,collections are part of the Shopify,platform so if you needed any assistance,on configuring products or categorizing,them into collections take a look at the,Shopify documentation where you will,find all the resources you need to help,you out in that area additional to the,products and the collections here in the,online store section under blog posts we,have some blog posts these blog posts,have content titles featured images and,you'll notice that they also have,excerpts and I'll show you why that's,important a little later on,additional two blog posts we have these,pages these are just the pages that,we'll be using for the home page content,finally we have these menus set up in,the navigation settings and I'll show,you why they're set up the way that they,are here shortly so these are all the,components that are on the Shopify,platform itself let's take a look at,what comes with the theme here so here,we are on the themes panel now depending,on how you purchase the theme this step,will be due,for you so if you purchased the theme,through the online store on out of the,sandbox comm then you would have,received a zip file in your email that,you can download and upload to the,Shopify admin panel just like this,alternatively if you purchase the theme,through the Shopify theme store you can,expect the theme to be added to your,admin panel automatically so here it's,been added in an unpublished state to my,admin panel just going to go ahead and,publish the theme here so any changes,that we make will occur to the live,version of the shop and so here it is,loading up and I'm gonna go to customize,theme to take a look at the built in,theme settings so here we are with the,new sections settings on the left and,the preview window here on the right so,any changes that we make in the settings,on the left will update right away in,the preview window here on the right,the settings on the left here are split,up into sections which are based on the,page that's being viewed in the preview,window and the general settings section,so just to touch on the sections here,again since

hello and welcome to the out of the,sandbox video guide to the collection,page setup' today we're going to take a,look at the settings associated with,configuring your collection page if,you're using one of the most recent,versions of the other the sandbox,themes that use the sections interface,so that would apply to responsive,version 6.0 Mobilia version 5.0 retina,version 4.0 and parallax version 3.0 so,if you're using a previous version of,any of these four themes and you would,like to take advantage of the new,sections interface you're going to need,to update your theme so you can do that,any of your favorite ways including,heading over to the Shopify App Store,and downloading the out of the sandbox,theme updater app with a quick use of,this app you can update your theme then,go through and quickly reconfigure your,homepage using the robust new home page,settings alright but we're not talking,about the home page today we're talking,about the collection page so before we,actually jump in to take a look at the,settings that we can configure first,we're going to need to take a look at,what we're already working with here on,the admin panel so here's the admin,panel of one of my demo shops here I'm,going to show you that under products we,already have products on the admin panel,so these products have titles and,descriptions types vendors tags all of,the attributes that you would expect to,see with a product additionally these,products have been categorised into a,couple of collections some smart,collections collections that are created,and refined using a condition versus a,normal manually selected collection like,this one this collection even as a,collection image so products and,collections are configured on the,Shopify platform if you needed any,assistance with the actual configuration,of products and the categorization of,products into collections and check out,the Shopify documentation for all the,help you'll need in that area but,additional to the products and the,collections here under online store,navigation we also have some menus,created and you,and check out the out of the sandbox a,home page setup video associated with,your theme to see how to create the,drop-down menu but you're going to need,to at least create a main menu that has,the ability of accessing the collection,page so I've done that here by creating,a drop-down menu that accesses the two,collections now the reason it's,important to set up a way to navigate to,the page and here i am on a different,admin panel i'm going to head into,online store seams and then into,customize seam where you will see the,new Shopify sections interface where,there is a preview of the theme on the,right and you have settings here on the,Left separated into these two tabs,sections and general settings so for the,four themes that we're going to be,talking about today the settings are,pretty much the same for the collection,page and I will point out where there,are any differences but to access al

hmm,hi folks my name is haris mahmoud i'm a,senior engineer at shopify based in,toronto canada,i work specifically on the client team,in the on the arrive app it's an app,that helps keep track of all of your,online orders,i also run an online store called rapid,supply which sells apparel,pins stickers and accessories for,developers and other tech enthusiasts,so today we'll be chatting about styles,and theming in react native,from the perspective of the arrive app,and the experiences that i gained while,working on the app,react sorry the arrive app is 95 react,native with the remaining portions being,relying on a couple of native modules,for both ios and android,i'll be talking about some of the main,problems that we faced when it came to,theming and styling for the app and how,our restyle library helped solve those,problems,the first issue that we came across,revolved around managing colors,colors are notoriously harsh to name,they're hard to keep track of they,became super hard to maintain,as more and more colors got added or old,colors need to be adjusted to meet,changing needs for the app the second,issue revolved around managing font,styles,first of all like we had far too much,code duplication throughout the app,we needed to write down multiple,different,style declarations for every single text,component that we had in our app,this required far too much code all over,the place and became super hard to,manage,one of the first things we did there was,to just try and simplify this,is to build out a font styles object,that defines some of our default font,styles,and then implement those and use those,as necessary for the different text,components,throughout our app this worked okay but,we started to run into issues when for,example,we'd have a new font style that was,exactly the same as one that existed,but had one small change so we weren't,sure whether we needed to introduce a,brand new font style,or use the font style that we already,have with one override,and the second problem that we had was,trying to figure out then,how broad or specific the font styles,needed,to be was body far too generic was call,to action far too specific,in the latter scenario if we came across,the situation where we needed to use the,exact same font style that call to,action already implemented,but it was for something that wasn't a,call to action,we didn't know whether we needed to,refactor the entire code base to,accommodate,a renamed call to action font style or,just use it as,is and kind of deal with the awkward,consequences of,of losing some of that consistency,dark mode and theming is obviously a,huge portion of mobile apps and,we knew that we wanted to implement and,tackle dark mode,but we already had a number of issues,with regards to themes with regards to,colors and font styles,and the thought of adding more colors,and more,font style uh alternatives,just didn't seem like the right approach,when uh,when we already had problems that we,were trying to figure

all right hello Amsterdam thank you so,much for having me I'm so hyped to be,here with all of you let's see that's,not going the right way at all all right,sweet so I am here to talk about,building blazing fast sites with grid,some I hope you like my walk on music,preparing talks is like relatively hard,so like thank your speakers if you see,him give him a high five picking walk-on,music is so much harder you know how,many songs there are on Spotify I looked,it up it's like 90 million songs K so,one out of 90 million is not an easy,choice anyway I thought you needed to,know that I am Jake dome I'm a web,developer I work for a company called,good work who we build websites with,view tailwind and craft CMS and I'm here,to talk about good 'some so what is grit,some grit 'some is a view js framework,for building static sites and more so to,give you a little more info straight,from the grid some documentation grits,that makes it easy for developers to,build modern websites apps and PWA s,that are fast by default so there's a,lot there and we're gonna kind of unpack,a bunch of those different pieces so,grid SIM there's also a jam stack,framework and raise your hand if you,have heard of the term Jam stack okay,it's it's a pretty good percentage so,the definition of jam stack is a text,act to help you create fast and secure,sites and dynamic apps so not just basic,sites with JavaScript API is,pre-rendered markup served without web,server so the point of Jam stack is,really building static sites but what is,a static site there are three types of,ways to build a view application the,first is to build a client-side,application client-side applications are,pretty much when you ship your code like,if you looked at the HTML it's like you,know head tag body tag and then there's,like a div and you're like okay like,what's going on here so then your,JavaScript finds that div it's like,you're mine now and it renders out a,bunch of stuff this is really great this,is a concept that really came into play,a couple years ago Facebook built,client-side apps with react and a lot of,people have been building,hi inside apps but there are some,drawbacks of client-side apps especially,back before they became more mainstream,like SEO and performance there are some,things you have to watch out for when,building client-side apps so then that,people started building server side apps,with view in these frameworks and server,side apps have been around forever like,PHP apps are all server-side but to run,a view app in a server-side way you,deploy a node server so then when,someone hits the browser that browser,will send a request to your web server,and instead of just giving you back,something it'll actually pre render out,that page content printer out your HTML,CSS and JavaScript and ship that back so,that's good for performance and SEO but,their job backs with that too because,you have to maintain all these web,servers to you know serve that content,so then there's a third type w
