Drawing with Emphasis: Applying Values with Graphite
the next step in my process after i am,done drawing my subject on my 8 by 10,piece of paper,is i now want to erase my graph lines, whenever we do a graphite drawing or,really any type of drawing in which we,use a grid to help us,draw the object,we want to remove the grid before we,start shading because the grid was a,tool,to help us,draw the object to proportion and to,scale,so now we no longer need that grid,so i'm going to erase the grid and then,i'll be ready to start applying some, value in graphite to my main subject,so i now have my drawing complete with, the grid erased,my next step is to start adding value,so i'm going to need of course my,drawing and remember the grid needs to,be erased from the drawing before you, start applying value,i have my original photo reference, and i have, graphite pencils, you do not need a full ray of drawing, pencils to complete a pencil drawing,an hb pencil will usually, work fairly well to give you some very, light values and some very dark values, when you need them,so,your pencil selection is up to you,if you're in building, then you will have these, different grades of graphite pencils, available to you,if you are at home, you may not have those so just a regular, number two hb pencil will work for you,so to begin the first thing i want to do,is identify the object that is going to,be my center of interest or,my emphasis,in my drawing, and as i have already talked to you, before about that is going to be my,glasses, now since my glasses are going to be the, emphasis in my drawing they're going to,eventually be done in color pencil so i,do not want to apply any values to,my glasses so that means i need to make, sure i identify all the parts of the, glasses so it's not just the frame, that is facing us but there is a small, area here, and a little area here, that,is part of the glasses it's the legs of,the glasses, going backwards into space,so those areas i'm not going to apply, values to,so the rest of this i am going to shade, now even though this is a furry textured, dog there's a lot of areas in which i'm,going to be using circular shading, remember there's the two types of,shading we have circular or smooth, shading and we have directional shading, directional shading is great for areas, where you need to bring out, texture,so looking at my image i can see, around the nose will probably be areas,in which i will get into directional, shading now directional shading,is very purposeful,it is not, drawing individual hairs,it is not scribbling back and forth it,is moving your pencil in the direction, you need to complete a value, and develop texture so it's going to be,a very purposeful, movement, areas where i probably won't need, directional shading, include up here even though i have some, areas of light and dark that indicate, some texture, they're not very distinct, they're more grouped together so these, are areas in which circular shading or,smooth shading would work best,my goal is that when i apply the value, that the value is just helping to c

Elon Musk Emphasizes Hidden Value of Tesla 🤫 - Robinhood Investing
yo what's up everyone my name is Andrew,Warren and in today's video I'm going to,be giving like a little piece of Tesla, news it's kind of like just a tidbit of,information but it's something that I,think is really relevant to Tesla and,Tesla stock and I really think that it,adds a lot of perspective to what Tesla,is as a company and and why people, believe in them and why they have such a,long-term vision on Tesla and Tesla, stock so I just wanted to share this, little talking point with you all but if,you appreciate types of content where I,just talk about Tesla news and give you, little tidbits here and there of,information as well that I think is,relevant then please make sure to smash, that like button drop a like on the, video if you like this succinct content, just really short videos on like small, pieces of news and stuff let me know but, anyways let's go ahead and jump over to,Twitter where Elon Musk replies to a,news article tweeted so as you can see, right here there's the article by cleen,Technica that says how Tesla became the, world's most valuable automaker in just,16 years and Elon Musk replies Tesla, should really be thought of as roughly a,dozen technology startups many of which, have little to no correlation with, traditional automotive companies for, example we created a chip design team, from scratch for the Tesla full,self-driving computer which is not, something car companies do this was not,to out-compete other companies but, rather to maximize usefulness and rate,of progress in the absolute so right, there just really emphasizes that Tesla,is more than just like the typical, automaker, they have various teams that excel, within their own categories when it,comes to software user interface battery, efficiency research and development car, design creating computer chips for full,self-driving AI and many other factors, like that and it just emphasizes their, efficiency like this third tweet right, here where he talks about how it's not,to out-compete other companies but, rather to maximize the usefulness and, rate of progress in the absolute so that, just emphasizes much more that Tesla as,a company wants to be a very efficient, and optimized machine that's what Tesla,is really known for in its optimization, and it's the reason that they can, compete with other automakers it's the, reason they're like one of the first, automakers to really come out and be,successful over like the past 100 years, and it was a huge feat and just to bring,up another tweet that I saw that quoted, that in reply to Elon tweet I just, wanted to emphasize this because I,thought it was a really really good, talking point so we'll go ahead and get, back over to Twitter and the reason I,saw this was because it was retweeted, about Elan swirled Ilan's world is,actually a pretty good account if you, like stuff around Elon Musk and Tesla, but anyways they retweeted this tweet, that said and people wonder why Tesla, would be a trillion dollar company soon, and then his reply was what I thought, was rea

Suspect Caught In Ongoing University of Idaho Case
before we get into this video I just, want to say that this video was filmed a,couple of days ago and I have been, feverishly editing this video to get it,up and while I was almost done editing, there was breaking news if you guys have, been intently following this case the, police have finally made an arrest in,connection with the University of Idaho, murders 28 year old Brian coburger has, been arrested if this is confusing to,you just listen to the whole video and, then at the end I'm gonna give you the, update the latest update that we have, that is okay there's not really going to,be an intro for this video because we're,talking about the current ongoing case,of the four murdered University of Idaho, students this case has been terrifying, for I think everyone to read and listen,to as it develops because it is just a,senseless terrifying murder that doesn't,make sense in a safe college town in a,single house where six college students, were sound asleep one night and by the, next morning four of them were dead four,of them were murdered and the police, have yet to catch the killer the or The,Killers I mean this case has been and, everywhere recently a tick tocker is,being sued for defamation by one of the, professors at the college who she, accused of being the killer you're like, how did she know was she read a tarot, card apparently that told her the, professor was the Killer, what yeah what's going on I mean this, case like as I'm researching I just, don't even understand, any of it if you guys have any real tips, real witness statements please reach out,to fbi.gov Moscow Idaho or contact the,tip line at tipline,ci.maskow.id.us or call,208-883-7180 I'm going to leave all of,that in the description but please leave, your tarot cards aside for this case and,for all True Crime cases because, that doesn't even make sense this house, has been at the center of a lot of media, coverage this is the crime scene it's,been at the center of social media, discourse and what feels like a tornado,of just internet speculations and it is,1122 King Road in Moscow Idaho I imagine, just driving by this house the first, thing that I would notice is that the, building itself is interesting it's not, typical the house is built on a hill, that means you have two access points, you've got the front door and the back, door and you're like okay yeah we'll so,do a lot of single-family homes but, because the back of the house is built,on a hill the front door leads you, straight into the first floor sliding, glass patio door leads you straight onto, the second floor it's a very interesting, house and it's almost like if you took a,two-story home cut it in half and then, raised half of it above that's kind of,what it looks like from the side I mean, just look at the picture and the house, isn't even small so it's a three-story,house six bedrooms two bedrooms on each, floor three bathrooms it almost feels, like like three separate two-bedroom,apartments but instead of being, separated by locked doors it's by stairs,a

3 Ways to Express Your Thoughts So That Everyone Will Understand You | Alan Alda | Big Think
3 Ways to Express Your Thoughts So That Everyone Will Understand You | Alan Alda | Big Think
I don't really like tips; tips about communicating
well, tips about writing.,What I would prefer is a process that transforms
you so the tips take place automatically.,I mean for instance, very often a tip is given:
“When you're speaking to a crowd, vary the, pace of your speech, vary the volume.”,Well, those are two good things, but if they
happen mechanically it gets to be kind of,boring.,Some people are encouraged when they're coached:
“At this point leave where you're standing, and walk over there and take a pause.”,Well, maybe that makes sense in terms of how
it's written; at the end of that paragraph, you want to make a space before the next paragraph,
but it doesn't necessarily make sense in terms,of how you're talking and relating to the
people you're talking with.,That—relating to them—should be the source
of a pause, the source of moving, because,it comes out of the thought process I'm going
through and it comes out of the thought process,I sense you're going through.,Have you understood that last part?,So now I'm thinking, if you have what's the
next thing that I can tack onto that that, will mean something to you?,And if you haven't, should I clarify it a
little more?,So there's a dynamic relationship between
us that leads to a change in pace, to a change,in volume and that kind of thing.,A tip is just an intellectualization of that,
which might be okay to give somebody once, they've got the grounding in the ability to
connect, but it ought to come out of the connection.,It shouldn't be a checkbox that you tick off.,So I really don’t like tips.,If I'm pressed really hard there are three
tips that I do kind of follow.,Probably it's a good idea to follow these
tips after you get used to being connected,to somebody, but there are three things that
I like to do, I call it the three rules of,three.,So the first rule is, I try only to say three
important things when I talk to people.,No more than three.,If it's one thing that's maybe even better,
but usually there's a lot to say.,When I make notes on what I want to talk about,
if I see I'm going on past three to four and, five I start eliminating them or seeing if
I can fold them into the other things.,Because three things are really all I can
remember and I don't work from notes when,I talk to people and I advise other people
not to.,I never read it because reading just excommunicates
you; it's not communication it's excommunication,,in my view.,So I can't remember more than three things,
and I don't think they can remember more than, three things, so what's the point of telling
them stuff they're not going to remember?,So I stick to three.,That's rule number one of the rule of three
things.,The second rule is, if I have a difficult
thing to understand, if there's something,I think is not going to be that easy to get,
I try to say it in three different ways because,I think if you come in from different angles
you have a better chance of getting a three-dimensional,view of this difficult idea, so

My Thoughts on the Emphasis of “Value” in the Knife World
My Thoughts on the Emphasis of “Value” in the Knife World
what's up everyone it's a knife so here, and today i'm going to be doing a little, bit of a discussion video talking about, something that i've been seeing recently, and that is uh there i feel like there's,been a major emphasis,on the value of knives when i'm looking,at reviews maybe in,different knife groups or um on,instagram or mainly on youtube, where people are really emphasizing the, value of a knife saying this is,overpriced, this is a good value and really just, being very very strict on it,so i'm going to talk about my opinions,on that what i think about it so,let's go ahead and get started one of,the reasons i think that people, are put so much emphasis on value is,because like me i'm a content creator, and i like to think sometimes or,sometimes i think, that my entire audience is a bunch of,beginner, knife guys now i might have some, beginner knife guys out there, and i appreciate you if you are watching, but the truth is,i only have about one and a half, thousand subscribers, and um i'm not really reaching out to a,lot of people and there is a good chance, that if you're watching my channel, you really care about knives now if it's,someone like nick shabazz or metal, complex, they reach out to a whole lot more, people so i could see them focusing on,value more because,a lot of times someone may be watching, them just being like okay,i just want to get one knife under 50,bucks and that's going to be,my knife really for a long time and so i,can see why they would do that, but it's just channels similar to mine, that i see really emphasizing value, and one issue that i see uh or one thing, that i see people doing is comparing, almost every knife to some of the knives, with the best value out there one like, this of evie backlash, lots of those chinese-made budget knives, they're really good values and like if,i'm getting a present, for someone for christmas or their, birthday or something i'm probably going,to get something like a cevivie,cg or qsp something along those lines, because they're cheap and they are, knives that work and honestly i could, probably live with this cbd backlash and, carry this every day,and i wouldn't want to do that because i,have a lot of knives that i like more, than it,but it still would work for me and i,feel like, when people do this they're really just, making,it impossible for other companies to,compete, like especially american companies you, know people will compare,i don't even know a lot of budget, american companies which don't really, exist that much but usually spyderco, and benchmade and you know hogue those, companies they are producing,american-made knives, usually in that 100 to 200 dollar price, range, and a lot of times they're getting, compared to knives that are,50 bucks that are really good quality, and a lot of times people are just, comparing, the materials to each other and on paper, this one makes sense that it would be,cheaper and is the better value but you,got to think, made in america versus made in china in,america they actually have

today we will be examining the principle,of emphasis in art or the artists, ability to draw attention and get you to,focus on the important part of a work if,you are making an artwork or maybe even, just designing a room layout or any, other means of visual communication and, you're constantly getting feedback about,an area that you don't want people to,focus on it may be that you need to,place more emphasis or guide people to,the correct area using directional, forces alternately artists architects, and designers can downplay parts of,their work through subordination the, boorda nation is the minimizing or,toning down of compositional elements so,that the focal point can then stand out, more consider when you're going to a,sports arena and how different entrances, will either be emphasized or,subordinated depending on where the, general public is expected to go the, main entrance is very easy to find,it's proportionately big there are, lights posters or banners around there's,often music or an announcer over the, speaker in the entrance and many of the, doors will even open up automatically as,you pass by them service entrances on,the other hand are meant to blend in,they don't give you a good view into the, interior their openings are smaller and, painted to blend in with the walls they, may even be locked and oftentimes you,may pass several service entrances on,the building without even realizing that, you've seen one now the most important, part of the work the one that the artist,is using the elements of art at their, disposal to draw their eye towards is,called the focal point generally, speaking if it's the first thing that, you notice when you're looking at a,painting that's because it's the thing, that has been to most emphasized and is,generally speaking considered to be its, focal point so let's look at some ways,in which artists create emphasis you may, have artists who create emphasis through, values a contrast and values like we,have seen with, chiaroscuro throughout this course, allows the backgrounds of artworks to,fade away while the very bright values, that are concentrated on the figures, draw your eye towards them, you may find that emphasis can be,created through the use of color, consider the film Schindler's List a,film that is shot entirely in black and, white with one single exception, throughout the course of the film there,is a young girl in a red jacket and, while this girl does not speak a line, and in any other circumstance we're in,color was not specifically being used, she would probably fade into the, background, but because color and especially the, color red is being used so effectively, here we follow her story throughout the, film as a symbol for the plight of the,Jewish people, emphasis can be created through, placement or using the element of space, and orders of perspective Renaissance, drawings are very easy to tell what is,the most important thing because they, have a very rational approach to placing, objects of importance generally speaking, that mean

founder of keith rn and it's my passion,as a nurse educator and a nurse in,practice to strengthen and transform how, nursing is taught so our students, are better prepared for both practice,as well as licensure and you know i'm,all about helping us,close the gap between how nursing is,taught, and practiced in the real world and it's,just great to be with you tonight i want,to just let you, just give me a shout out for who's out, there in our audience tonight let me,know where you're from, and uh and who you are and excited to,have you with us and just want to thank, you for taking time, out of your busy schedule to be here, this evening, and if you're checking as we look at,just the challenges that we face, you know in nursing education you know,we,we look at the struggles to really, bridge this gap between how nursing is,taught in practice and as i shared last, week i talked about the paradigm shifts,in educating nurses a call for radical, transformation and this book, rocked my world as a new educator and,it's really is still a must read, because many of the paradigm changes, that we've discussed in the past and,we're going to talk about the fourth and, final paradigm shift today with a,special guest dr nelda godfrey, but in essence i want to highlight that, there are three that i've kind of,focused in my journey which is about, the importance of contextualizing our, content to the bedside of patient care, integrating class and clinical learning, and then, emphasizing clinical reasoning, but there's also a fourth paradigm shift, that i didn't really understand as a,newer, educator and it's this a shift,to emphasize socialization and role, taking,to an emphasis on formation, and professional identity formation now, that language was somewhat obscure to me,as a,as a new educator but i have a guest, tonight dr nelda godfrey who is gonna, shine some light on this really, important topic in nursing education, and dr godfrey is the associate dean for, innovation at the university of kansas, school of nursing and the chair of the, international society for professional, identity in nursing and this group came, about in 2018 when people, interested in this topic this think tank, let me just increase the size of my,screen here i just got a little, problem reading my bio here um,as it relates to professional identity, and what the domains would be to make a,professional, identity in nursing and since that time, there have been over,13 publications 16 presentations, nationally and internationally and an,overwhelming response globally the, conceptual model of development, these ideas and tenants of what is,professional, identity and why it's important to,develop this in our students, and so nelda's going to share the goals,of this innovative initiative, the progress so far in ways that new, language and knowledge about, professional identity and nursing can, become part of our, undergraduate and graduate nursing, programs, not only here in the united states but, globally, and so you know if something's not in,the c
