Virtual assistant training for new VAs: start with a "skills inventory"

quick video for you guys this week we're,doing a skills inventory and we're going,to talk about why this matters for your,business,a lot of va's pick and choose skills,randomly,they choose things that they think,people want without really taking stock,of,what you like to do or what you're good,at and that's where this video comes in,now we're not going to go as in depth i,actually have courses,and other videos about how to find niche,skills that will propel your business,forward and help you,earn more money as a va but this week,what we're actually going to do is a,very quick skills,inventory i want you right now to grab a,piece of paper,or open up a notes app on your computer,and i want you to write down,every single skill that you have,these can both be things that can be,done remotely or things that need to be,done in person,right now it doesn't matter it's just a,brainstorm activity,so i want you to write down everything,are you skilled at,booking flights for yourself and for,other people,are you particularly skilled at finances,do you enjoy bookkeeping do you have,skills in social media,do you have skills with things like,google adwords,write it all down this is just a brain,dump for you so take a few minutes to,write down,all the things that you know how to do,think back from high school,college early adulthood what past jobs,have you had before,what things do you do that you enjoy,doing for your own life once you're done,with the brainstorm what i want you to,do next,is cross off the things that must be,done in person,let's just say for example that you are,skilled in calligraphy,sending out calligraphy or handwritten,invitations for your clients,probably not a thing that you want to,offer because that's very hard to do,virtually for your,virtual clients so cross off things that,are not well suited to your business as,a virtual assistant,now once you've got those crossed off i,want you to re-look at your list again,under a new lens,i want you to cross off items that you,don't really like to do,i've done this skills inventory for,myself many many times,and i can do things like bookkeeping,i do it for my own business but i don't,enjoy doing it,i don't like to do taxes so it's not,something that i also offer for my own,clientele,so even though i can do it i cross that,off the list so,go through anything that you can't,foresee yourself doing for the long term,for your own business,cross it off now what you should be left,with,are a number of skills that can be both,offered virtually,and that you enjoy doing and the beauty,of this skills inventory list is that,even though it is a very simple,brainstorm it's a great way to start,building niches for your business doing,things that you're good at,and doing things that you like to do,because as,business owners as freelance virtual,assistants you and i have a golden,opportunity to build a business that we,love,you and i don't need to offer services,that we don't like,if we wanted to do stuff that we

hello and welcome today I'm gonna be,presenting to you the sim software and,I'm gonna show you exactly why it is the,best product to help you manage your,inventory if you want more information,about the product or even want a,personalized demonstration of your sim,system please feel free to contact us,for today's example we're going to,imagine that we are a service,maintenance company like an auto body,shop or an HVAC supply store,now we as the owner use sim to track the,daily inventory management of our whole,company our main worries day-to-day are,knowing number one our real-time,inventory stock levels and two to,forecast properly as to best avoid all,stock outs let's see how best we can,achieve these two goals by using the,handy-dandy sim software okay so we are,now in the sim software and now we at,our service maintenance company have,been able to import all of the current,product data thanks to the simple Excel,import option you will now see that all,product is classified by the following,category barcode description supplier,quantity we also have the ability to set,a minimum or a safety stock and have the,alarm column trigger us whenever we,breach that minimum and we have many,more columns like location and unit,price that are all pretty,self-explanatory so now that we have all,the different types of inventory we're,going to be doing business with we're,going to show you how to scan in or,receive a specific quantity of a product,now you can normally do this with the,use of barcode readers like this the,optic on OPH 3001 the DCR 40 or our,salty scan app for Android and iOS but,now we will do it with the button within,the software so first you are going to,select a line then you're going to,select add in stock now you see you get,all the info about the product here you,select the quantity you want to add for,that specific unit you got some extra,actions over here if you want to print a,quote or an extra product list or,something but really once you enter the,quantity then you want to hit add and,the quantity that you have added is then,entered in your stock now you can also,add other products without changing,screens like I am doing here do the same,process we click Add after you enter the,quantity and then when you're done just,make sure you hit save now if you want,to remove an item from stock it's the,same basic process you click on the line,then you can click the Remove button or,you can go over you right click on the,line itself it'll highlight,you hit remove now in this screen you,enter the quantity that is going to be,removed or sold in this screen also you,can pick a user or what we call is a,customer you select the customer in this,case it's salty software it is us you,have the quantity then you hit save and,the item is remove from your shelf and,just like that you are now an expert at,adding and removing products now we are,going to show you and give you a quick,demo on the most important feature of,the entire thing the log so this

How to manage inventory in QuickBooks Online

This is Annie from the QuickBooks team. ,If you are using QuickBooks to manage your inventory,,then you can order new inventory whenever you are running low. ,Let’s go over how to order and account for new inventory using a purchase order. ,Then we’ll go over what to do when you receive your new inventory. ,Finally, you’ll see how to make adjustments to your inventory,,if QuickBooks thinks you have more or less than you really do.,If you haven’t already created inventory products in QuickBooks,you’ll need to do that first and this video can show you how.,To start, select Products and Services. ,Note, your navigation may look like this.,Here you can see which products are low or out of stock.,If you see a product you need to reorder,,select the arrow next to edit and reorder to open a purchase order.,If you want to include multiple items on the same purchase order,,you can select them all, then under Batch actions select Reorder.,If you don’t have Purchase Orders turned on, you’ll need to do so before continuing. ,Select the vendor you want to order from. ,If you set up a preferred vendor for your product,you’ll see one selected already, but you can change it if you need to.,The shipping address is your address. ,But if you do drop shipping and you want your order delivered directly,to a customer's address, you can select the customer under Ship To.,Fill in Ship via if there's a specific carrier that you want your vendor to use.,Under Item details, enter all the items you want to order.,Enter in the Quantity you want to order. ,Notice that if you hover over this QuickBooks will show you,how much you have on hand and your reorder point.,You can adjust the rates and amounts for individual products as needed.,You can also add more products to the PO.,Just select them from the drop down menu, or add them if you don’t see them.,You can also add a message to your vendor or add an attachment.,Once you're finished, you can save and send to your vendor,,or select another save option and send it later.,Here is the customizable email that QuickBooks will,send to your vendor along with the Purchase Order.,If everything looks good select Save.,If you go to Vendors you can see your new Purchase Order listed here.,Once you send it off, your vendor can start processing your order.,A purchase order itself does not change your inventory levels.,It's just an order with your vendor.,When you actually receive your inventory from your vendor,you’ll need to record how you paid for it.,You can enter it as bill or check depending on how you are paying for the inventory.,This is what actually adjusts your inventory quantity and handles all the accounting.,If you’ve received and paid for the inventory already then you enter a check,,if you paid by check, or an expense if you paid by any other method.,If you haven’t paid yet and your vendor has given you a bill with a due date then enter a bill.,These methods are all very similar.,For this example we’ll enter a bill, but the

hi there's Tracy Davey arrow coming to,you live from my front porch and your VA,mentor,it's gorgeous day out today so I decided,to bring the camera outside and do some,of my training videos for my youtube,channel right at home in the beautiful,weather so I'm sitting on my front porch,because my family is sitting on the back,porch in the pool and although that,would be probably a lot of fun for you,guys to see it's a little distracting,whenever I'm trying to keep my my train,of thought going in that type of thing,so today I want to talk to you about a,neat little exercise that that I often,teach my clients about figuring out your,area of specialty in your business and,so it's really just you know a few steps,and that kind of thing but it's a little,bit more it's a little bit more detailed,than probably you have looked into,before or maybe even done in your,business when we think about what we,know how to do like our skills that we,know how to do the tasks we can do for,our clients oftentimes we don't think,back farther than like our last job or,maybe our last couple of jobs right but,what you have to understand well most of,us come into a VA business actually when,I look at my statistics that I see,coming in a lot of EA's are starting,their businesses around the mid-30s and,so what you have to realize is you have,a ton of experience from you know maybe,after high school but even maybe in high,school of the things that you've learned,how to do as a business person or as a,even as a worker you know in your jobs,training courses you've taken anything,like that between that times so maybe,like 16 and 35 so you really 20 years of,experience varied experience and things,that may not be relevant to your,business right now but the exercise that,I teach people I calls it I call it,their skull their skills inventory its,hold on just a minute doing a lot of,videos today so it's a skills inventory,and it's really really helpful to have,to help you decide what it is that you,know how to do and maybe even remind,yourself of things that you know how to,do that you forgot about altogether so,to figure out your specialty first you,have to take a big long piece of paper,pad a paper notebook whatever,make a list of everything that you know,how to do now this is related to,business okay so it's not about you know,painting your house or doing anything,like this this would be anything that,you know how to do in terms of your work,experience so think about all the jobs,that you've ever had and you know write,down those job titles and and that will,help you do a little bit of a brainstorm,on on what you learned in that job what,you did the responsibilities you took,care of you know maybe if people worked,under you or if you worked particularly,well you know at a certain level what,are the things that you liked your,training include your training as well,anything that you've learned when I did,this exercise the first time I was at a,mastermind group in Maine and with my,w

Advanced Peripherals Tutorial - Using Inventory Manager & Chat Box to Dump Inventory to Chest

this is going to be a tutorial on how to,dump the player's inventory,specifically slots 9,through 26,when you're out caving,into a chest or,ae2 system,as long as you have this set up,in a chunk boundary,shown by f3 and g on the keyboard,the keyword is dump,and you'll see it only takes the items,from here to here,puts it in there,if you're looking for a,spin of the file it's at the end of the,video,throw down the advanced computer,chat box,and the inventory manager,the wired modem is not necessary it's,just,another example,the memory card is important,we right click it,it's added meat to the memory,down to toast on rye,and you throw it in here and if you,forget it's not a big deal the program,will just generate an error later on and,you have to turn these on,but i'll leave this one off just to show,an error,ls,list what's on here i like to do a make,directory,youtube,just to keep things organized,unless again,you see that youtube's there change,directory youtube,we're in,edit,jumper.lua,this creates a new file,the two dashes are comments,unnecessary but habit i guess,control s saving,so for a project like this it's,important to look at the docs,this is from the mod developer,the inventory manager,so what's important is the name,inventory,capital m manager,and they give a little chunk of code as,an example,i'll be borrowing this,and instead of calling it manager i'll,have my own variable name because that,doesn't really matter but what's really,important is,this this matters,and then here's all the functions you,can use,i'll be using the remove item from,player later,local,inventory manager,is going to be assigned,the peripheral,dot find and if you didn't catch that,hit tab it auto completes,inventory,manager,and that spelling is important,next it's good to check that it's,actually found so if we go if,inventory manager is equal to nil on,existent,notice how equals is an assignment up,here this equals that but this is a,check,is this equal to,nil,so if it is equal to nil that's a,problem,now this is kind of like a print,statement it just generates an error we,can just say,e,inventory,manager,dot bound,and don't forget the end statement i,usually don't include it at the end of a,sentence,but it just looks a little cleaner in,this case,if we go ctrl s,ctrl r to run it,notice it says,not found,i can turn this one on,and it'll be found,and of course if we were to put this,right next to the machine the computer,it would be found,i just wanted to show off the cable,control control,r to run it again program finish noirs,the next device i want to add to this,program is the chat box,and again the name matters,chat box,and here's some of the functions you can,use and they have some examples,and they actually have a further example,down here where i'm going to borrow the,code,again i'll be kind of copying this chunk,because it's a good place to start,the local,cb,chat i'm going to make a typo here,intentionally instead of uh,box i'll type chat bot,if cb,equal
