Robot Framework Beginner Tutorial 7 - How to use TAGS

hello and welcome to this session on,robot Chamber beginner tutorial in this,session we are going to see how to,create tags how do you use text reading,test execution how can you use tags in,reports and how can we create dynamic,tags and we will also look at how can we,set tags from command line so we are,going to go very basic step-by-step in,this session and by the end of this,session you will know all about tags in,robot framework so let's get started and,let me open my ride ID so I will go to,my command line and I will say right dot,py and this opens the ride ID and this,is the test suit and the project that we,have been creating in our earlier,sessions so let me just create a new,test case and let me name it as test for,and say ok now let me create a very,simple test case so what I'm going to do,is I will say log to console and I,pressed ctrl + spacebar on my keyboard,so that I can get this option I can just,select this so this will just write,something on the control whatever I put,here so I am saying test for started and,let me also add a selenium keyword so I,am saying open browser and it should go,to the URL HTTP google.com and I want to,use a Chrome browser here and let me,just close all browsers and again log to,console test for completed ok so this is,a very simple test case that I have,created now what I'm going to do is I,will go to these settings so I click on,the settings here and you can see we,have an option for tags here okay so,here we can add our tags,and before I add a tag let us see tags,are useful to classify categorize test,cases so tags are basically free text,that you can give to your test cases or,test suit which can be used during test,execution reports and then basically,used to categorize and classify the test,cases so now let us go back and I will,click on this edit button and add a new,tab so you can add any tags or you can,give any name so here I am giving tests,for and also if you want to give,multiple tags you can separate by a pipe,symbol and then say something else,so tag test for and 70 will be two tests,which should be given to this test case,so let me give test for as of now and,say okay you just put again yeah so now,we have got this tag test for for this,particular test case now the very first,thing that we can do is we can use the,tags for text execution so for example,here if I go to the run section you can,see we have this section only run test,with these tags and you can give the tag,name also you have a section skip tests,with these tags and you can give the tag,names here so that is very handy because,now I do not want to run all the test,cases in my test suit I only want to run,that test with tag test 4 so I will give,it here and then I will say start so,this should only run my test for so let,us see it goes to the browser however it,is going to some earlier tests so let us,see what is the issue and now it goes to,our test case here it goes to browser,goes to Google and then should close it,and ye

good morning everyone my name is David,pin I'm the head of strategy at brain,Corporation and let me give you just a,little introduction to our company so we,were founded around 2009 by a team of,neuroscientists and we have a focus on,software for autonomous mobile robots,the company is based in San Diego,California and we have about 150,employees and we're funded by Softbank,vision fund and Qualcomm Ventures who,both really share our vision for a world,in which robots are all around us,helping us with our day-to-day lives in,stores and malls in airports in our,homes and so the question that I really,want to talk about today is where are,the robots what is needed to scale so,that we can actually see robots in our,day to day world and I want to leave you,with three ideas for what it will take,to scale robots so that we see them in,the world all around us so where are the,robots of the future that we all thought,would exist by now well what I would,suggest to you is that actually they,already exist today they're all around,us but the reason why we don't consider,them robots is we need people to drive,them around what we do at brain,corporation is that we're able to turn,manually driven machines into autonomous,vehicles so I have a video here just to,give you an example of a machine that,rain helped to develop this is a store,in Los Angeles California a retail,warehouse store and you can see two,floor scrubbing robots here approaching,us and what rain does is we partner with,the companies that make the manually,driven machines to turn them autonomous,and I think what's really important here,in terms of providing a scaleable,solution is the way in which we're able,to deploy these robots these robots,don't require any infrastructure in the,store they don't require any prior,knowledge of the layout of the store and,they don't require any special training,for the employees of the store the way,it works is,I can mail one of these robots to any,arbitrary location and the janitor,that's used to cleaning the floor with,the manual version of this machine,simply pushes at each button on the,robot drives it around as they always,drive their cleaning route and then the,next day when they're ready to clean,again they hit replay and the robot,drives itself essentially following the,exact same path that the janitor took to,train it but of course avoiding,obstacles and pausing for people as you,can see here in the video so idea number,one in terms of scaling robotic,solutions is to make sure that they're,easily deployed it's it's it's really,not practical if you have to send a team,of PhDs out to every grocery store in,the country in order to to deploy robots,so specifically what what brain does is,everything in orange here we provide a,reference design to the manufacturers of,manually driven machines includes all,the sensors which are lidar 3d,time-of-flight cameras compute platform,and then of course the software that,goes along with it to help the robot,localize

hey angela with hotmess here today i'm,going to talk all about,tags,so what are they how do you use them,uh how can you use them to optimize your,business in ways that you might not have,thought of um so i'm going to start with,the very basics and work my way up to,some more advanced um,examples and ideas and ways you can use,tags,so if you're,you know already used to the basics just,bear with me just for a couple of,minutes here um and then we'll get to,the good stuff so,the very first thing is what is a tag,and how do you add a tag right so,basically shopify lets you add,tags to products and customers,and it's just another way to identify,and categorize and label,your products or customers right and,there's different reasons you might want,to do that so,we'll get into that in just a second but,first i'll just show you really quickly,how to add a tag just so you know what,we're talking about here so in shopify,if you go to your products,and you pick any product and this is,just one way to add a tag,um,i'll show you a couple other ways in,just a second but okay so we log into,this product login okay,um and down here you're gonna find tags,now you're gonna notice um collections,and type as well,there are a million different ways to,organize your product catalog and um,they're just and i'll show you uh how,you can use tags to do this in just a,minute too but there's no right or wrong,exactly it just kind of depends on you,know what you want to automate and what,you don't,and,just there are,you know several different reasons why,you may want to use tags versus just,manual collections,and then in terms of type right product,type you can only have one type,so um,you're going to,uh that is going to be a broader way to,categorize your items versus,tags where you can you know it can be a,dress but you can tag it with a bunch of,other things it can be for a particular,season it could be a particular,color it can be,a a particular length you know and,that's the length of the dress and the,length of the sleeves even so there's so,many different ways to categorize um so,tags are where you can get,more into that nitty-gritty,and you're just going to hit tags you're,going to add,you're going to add whatever tag and if,it isn't a tag already it's going to,have alert you to add it,or if it already was a tag that's used,elsewhere um let's see mustard,then it shows up like this and you can,just add it that way so either way,um so you add the tag hit save so that's,how you do it on a product um however,just to show you really quickly,that's to go into products one at a time,you can also filter,a variety of different ways,until you or even like you could find,all dresses,for example and you want to tag all,dresses,you can select all or select you know a,handful and then more actions and add,tags,um then there's also,um the bulk editor which again if you,added multiple you could hit edit,products,and then you can add the column to c,tags,and you can actually remove o

hello and welcome to this session I am,Raghav and today we will learn about tax,in robot framework and this is going to,be very easy and very interesting and we,will see how to set tax how to remove,tags how to filter tests with tags and,how to run tests based on tags so let's,get started and I will go to my Eclipse,and here is the robot project that we,have created in the earlier sessions and,I have this test folder and attitude,that has some settings test case,variables and keywords and if I go to,the test suit editor you can see all,this here so we have a setting section,where we have added a library and some,setup and teardown then we have some,test cases and here I have a variable,section and keywords section all this I,have done in the earlier session and you,have seen these sessions so here now I,can create some tags so for example I,can create a tag in the settings section,and if I say tag and press ctrl spacebar,you can see we have our default tags,here and I can say some default tags for,example I can give this tag sanity to,this entire test suit and if I run this,test to it now I will just go here and,say I will right click on the test suite,and say run as robot test so this will,start running the test and I have some,selenium test cases here so this is,running some selenium tests on the,browser and then there is one more test,that is going to execute and this is,done so if I go to the report and here,is the report link I will go here and,open this in a browser and here you can,see now we have got this statistics by,tag and we have the senri tag here so I,can click here and you can see it has,all the test cases because this is the,default tag we have given to our test,now let me also create some simple tests,so I will just comment out these,selenium tests because these will take a,long time to run I will press ctrl and,/aa on my keyboard and everything is,commented out and I will create some,simple tests so here I will just copy,and paste the same test and I will say,this is my second test and this is my,third test and here I will say I am,inside second test and here I will say,I'm inside third test okay so now you,can see we have created default tag that,is sanity inside the settings section,now in the first test case I am going to,create another tag I will say tag and,press ctrl spacebar and this is the tag,here and I will name this as smoke so,now I will run my test fit again I will,do a right click run s robot test and,this is done if I go to my report now,you will see we have two tags here in,the report we have sanity and smoke if I,go to sanity you can see I have only my,second test and my third test and if I,go to smoke I have my first test here so,here when you give a tag inside the test,case it gets the default tags is,overridden by the test tag and this is,how you can give it and you can also set,and create dynamic tags so for example,in my second test I will say set tag and,if you press control space bar you will,get this ke
