hey guys welcome to a very special,episode of at school where we're going,to be talking about why q3 is the most,important time to think about and create,great evergreen ad creative we'll be,talking to diane kim who's our director,of expert creative and to peter hassan,who's our business development manager,about what it takes to make the most of,the most important time of the year for,creative stay tuned,it takes time to you know make good,creative uh if you want something that's,fresh if you know all of your creative,is sort of burning out then you're going,to want to bake in at least six to eight,weeks to be able to,you know get a shoot,make sure that the creative is up to,standard and then after that point uh,you definitely will have to enter a,testing period of at least you know one,or two months so i think if you account,for all of that uh q3 is like basically,the perfect time to get started with,something new and uh you know start to,really hone in your marketing efforts to,prepare for you know the busy season,for many e-commerce businesses holiday,and this is no news to people that are,probably watching this video but holiday,represents this kind of major spike on,the graph,not only in,potential traffic,but also in,likely realization of revenue and so,many you know businesses kind of have,either a multi-peak theory where they're,capitalizing on multiple moments of the,year but generally speaking,holidays is the largest moment for those,brands and so when we think about even,the way that um ad creative,kind of combines with the paid media,strategy it's really critical that we,drive a lot of new customer acquisition,in the months leading up to black friday,cyber monday one of the ways we often,find,that to be successful is new creative so,i think it's important to think about,preparation in a sense specifically on,the traffic that you are going out after,and then to diane's point if we have an,understanding of the type of assets that,work and we're able to test that,pre-black friday cyber monday then we're,in a much better better position to,capitalize on people who are already,familiar with the brand during that,critical two to three to four day period,so i think there's a preparation that,has to happen both creatively and from a,media buying perspective and those two,things can happen in silo it's important,to make sure that the creative gets an,opportunity um to be shown to the right,groups of people and that the brand gets,an opportunity to show that type of,creative to the right groups of people,based on the account structure and the,targeting and all those things that take,place on the media buying side so nobody,buys anything on black friday that they,weren't already planning to buy for a,long time,um and so we see this happen all too,often where you're prospecting,with black friday ads which is insane,like even though you're maybe sharing,your best deal of the year or the best,deal you've ever had or something like,that if nobody kn

all right so speaking of aov leads into,why we're all here so earlier this fall,uh kart hook launched an aov boosting,playbook and we are very grateful to,have senblane uh sendling was a,contributing partner to the playbook and,we love the ideas that,jimmy's team added to the playbook,around increasing your aov,through email marketing and once that i,have a history in email marketing my,previous life i worked at an email,marketing company emma,and i've gotten,rusty on my stats but correct me if i'm,wrong but email still drives around 40,of revenue for direct to consumer brands,is that right,yeah i mean it all depends on how you're,tracking it but if you're looking at,just raw attribution at the,simplest form of like being able to view,it yeah you can see that generally i,would say if you're doing direct,attribution it's probably closer to 20,to 30 percent,still not not a small number still great,so thanks so we thought you know,if our merchants on cart hooks see,around 10 percent lift in sales,on the post-purchase side um how can we,help them continue to increase revenue,especially as we're getting very close,to black friday's cyber monday and after,reading the chapter by the sunlin,semblane team um we felt that it made,sense to include email marketing email,marketing is such a powerful way to kind,of add to increasing your aov,so that is how we got here and jimmy i,am so excited to now kick things off to,you,awesome well thank you emily for that,introduction and thank you for having me,here on today's uh,webinar i guess here and uh meeting here,and i'm really excited to talk about a,lot of things specifically,around email marketing on boosting your,aov as you're approaching this holiday,and you're thinking about next year as,well too so let me go ahead and kick it,off real quick and i want to kind of,introduce myself just so everyone who,doesn't know who i am i'm the ceo and,co-founder of sun lane and some of the,things that i always say why do i matter,when i think about this first and,foremost i was in your shoes i was a,former retailer uh e-commerce in fact i,was a shopify,plus store back all the way back into,2013 so one of the more original ones,out there as well too and i was a,retailer brick and mortar in las vegas,and then the second part of it which was,really interesting is that i've been a,digital marketer specializing email,since oh sorry since 2009. so for me,email is something that i'm passionate,about i love in fact the story of sun,lane is that we created this out of need,of necessity for our prod for our own,businesses and that's kind of how we,started our uh kind of journey into it,and eventually became an actual business,in 2017 so it's a pretty interesting,little story we have and i'm not going,to talk about that too much but uh just,to kind of talk about it so i will be,relating to you as much as i can when i,talk through all these different things,as well too,so the first thing i always say is,boosting aov isn't just a simp
