in today's video i'm going to show you,how you can add a subscription or,recurring payment option to your,woocommerce products in wordpress it's a,simple plugin and we'll get straight,into it so i'm logged into the dashboard,of my wordpress website i'm going to,scroll down on the left here on plugins,i'm going to click add new plugin,and type in,subscriptions,and you'll see here subscriptions for,woocommerce by wp swings i'm going to,click install now,and then we're going to activate the,plugin,you'll see here i've landed on this page,here but i've also on the left here got,this menu wp swings with subscriptions,for word commerce if you want to come,back here the first thing they get you,to do is they for one whether you want,to actually activate the,plugin or not and then you can actually,change the label for subscription,products so you can say add,subscription to cart and the place order,button could be you know,order,your,subscription something like that you can,change it to whatever you want or you,can simply leave it the way it is but i,was going to put that there so you can,see the video so i'm going to click next,now it says here for me to create a,product i've done this before yet the,product for some reason hasn't shown up,so i'm just going to put in here,membership basic,this is our basic membership program,and i'm just going to basically put that,in there,here's more information,and i'm going to add in there so let's,say we want to go 19.99 per month,subscription interval will be once per,month and click next,now i've got my stripe set up not the,paypal it's all good we've pretty much,got a payment option there so click next,so you will have to have stripe or,paypal set up in order to actually work,this plugin into your uh store,um right now is only a test i'm going to,say no but uh this is just so peop they,can collect some information about the,usage of the plugin so i'm going to,click finish,and we're good to go so now if i,actually go back into wp swings and,click on this,you will see the information that i've,input earlier,here and i can change it if i want to,but i also want to give customers the,option to unsubscribe to cancel their,subscription and stop paying so i'm,going to click that box and click save,settings now you can choose to do that,or not it's entirely up to you,but after that that's pretty much all,the options we have and then the rest,are actually in the product itself if i,go into the subscription table,this would be where you would see people,who are subscribed,and,what product they're subscribed to,for now i'm going to go into my products,and i'm going to first of all check if,our test product was created,which it doesn't appear to have been,which is a bit of a funny one but it's,all good now i go to products and add,new,i'm going to create a membership product,for us to sell,i'll call this one,product name i'm going to call it,membership,and i'm going to just put here my long,description,a short description,g

if you charge your customers on a,regular payment interval like a billing,plan or a subscription plan that can be,set up through the stripe dashboard with,the billing plan and subscriptions,feature so today let's take a look at,how that works,first off if you're initiating recurring,billing plans to your customers a system,that properly stores and encrypts credit,card data is very important and since,stripe is a level one pci compliant,payment provider this is a pretty good,option for you to use if you're wanting,to to use payment and subscription plans,so as noted on their website stripe,allows you to integrate with third-party,software to create those recurring,billing options but in this stripe,tutorial we're actually going to focus,on the recurring billing options from,within the stripe dashboard itself as i,noted on a quick side note in my stripe,virtual terminal video it does matter,how you get the credit card information,into your stripe dashboard so check the,link in the description for that video,and the support links that specify how,to use the stripe virtual terminal,because billing plans and other payments,initiated through the stripe dashboard,in a mail order or telephone order,environment are subject to that special,exception so keep that in mind as we go,along once you're logged into stripe,locate the create button in the upper,right hand corner of the main menu at,the top and if you click on the drop,down you'll see the subscription option,you can just click on it with your mouse,or you can use the hotkeys which are c,and s in order to automatically launch,the subscription page and in order to,use the hotkeys you just have to have,that browser active on your web page and,have stripe opened obviously the first,field is to find an existing customer or,add a new one if you have a new customer,a light box pops up and you can add all,of the account details for the customer,in question and it will apply it,directly to this billing plan if you,want to build a customer that's already,saved in your stripe account just use,the drop down to select the correct,customer in the pricing section you'll,add new pricing and if you're adding a,new product or service you'll be able to,do that to add all the pertinent details,in the light box that pops up if you're,billing for a product or service that,you've already created as a product,let's say or or a service it really,doesn't matter they're one in the same,just click the button and select the,product and if you want to add more than,one item to the billing plan just click,the add product button and repeat the,process again to add additional services,or products to the billing plan under,the subscription schedule just choose,the start date and the end date for the,billing cycle is pretty self-explanatory,in the next section you can also choose,whether you want to have a free trial,and the number of days associated with,the free trial if you'd like as you,build the billing plan you'll notice,that i

hi it's Michael with swipes out and,today we're gonna briefly discuss the,best ways to do recurring billing or,recurring payments a lot of businesses,have subscriptions and SAS fees and this,is a common question that we have to,consult on here at swipes um when we,consult businesses that have recurring,payments or their subscription services,the most important thing to consider is,where is the card data going to be,stored or where is it stored now if,you're new to payments thank goodness,it's an easy consultation to set that up,if you've been accepting recurring,payments it can become a little more,difficult and we'll talk about that a,little later so when you're accepting,recurring payments there's two ways to,do it,one would be direct with your payments,provider we commonly see this with,stripe or if people have a merchant,account they're doing it out of their,virtual terminal and that could be the,best solution for you the second would,be using a gateway or another,third-party software that has payments,plugged in to run your recurring,payments the positive business outcomes,of using a gateway or an outside,provider,would be that the cardholder data is,stored within that gateway such as,authorized.net Recurly,one of those things so if you wanted to,swap out the payments providers for,better pricing or say you have a special,relationship with your bank you can do,that and you won't lose access to,cardholder data if you have a,substantial client base that is already,on recurring billing the best way to,switch that we've seen is to keep that,recurring payments system running,however,go ahead and integrate a new gateway or,software provider and a new merchant,services provider attached to that and,then gradually switch everyone over with,time it's very difficult to just drop,one system with subscription billing or,recurring payments and go to another,however the cost benefits of making a,switch have been enormous if you do,decide to not use a virtual terminal,directly tied to a provider and instead,go for the gateway or software option,there will be additional costs so you'll,want to evaluate all partners when,you're able to do that the most common,question that we've seen that's new is,an auto card updater so if you have a,client on a recurring billing and say,they get a new debit card or a new,credit card the card brands and the,gateways have worked together to auto,update that card so that you won't have,a failed transaction which is great in,2020 swipes um we are payments,consultants and we actively work with,recurring and subscription billing,clients weekly if you have more,questions or you would like to go,through a full consultation visit swipes,uncom today thanks,you
