The proper learning environment || LEARN FAST || Powerful learning
The proper learning environment || LEARN FAST || Powerful learning
one thing you should be aware of is the, influence of your learning environment,on your ability to learn effectively, there are a lot of factors at play here, and so I want to try and unpack them one,by one the first topic I want to discuss, here is the idea of state based learning, research has shown that if you learn in,the exact same environment that you, exercise the information in you'll be,more effective at remembering there's,actually research that shows that people, who study drunk did a better job on the, exam if they had a few drinks incredible, right now we're not recommending getting, drunk before studying or exams instead,we're recommending that you, conscientiously design your study, environment and conditions to match the, conditions in which you'll use the, information that means that if you're,not going to be allowed to chew gum and, listen to classical music during the, exam then don't do it while you study if,at work there's a constant chatter in,background noise then maybe you should,be working on the weekend at a cafe, instead of in a silent room you get the, idea state based learning is a really, really powerful thing and so you should,be very cognitive of how you're learning, and in what environment now given that, information let's talk about how you can, design both your home and your work and, study environments where you have, freedom and flexibility to coincide with, the proper learning conditions to be a,proper learning environment if we can, avoid the noise in both of these, situations that's great, personally I'm a huge advocate of using, either earplugs,I like the silicon malleable ones made,by Max or the noise canceling headphones, such as those offered by Bose to drown, out noise the music I typically use to,study is either Spanish guitar, electronic without words or classical, next let's talk about posture and body, posturing, now if we can avoid laying down or,sitting down on our bed that's another, great way to retain alertness keeping, the body physically, active is one of the best ways to keep, the brain alert while sitting is better, than laying down it still leaves half of,your body turned off truthfully sitting,is actually quite bad for your joints, and muscles too and so you should try to,avoid doing it whenever possible now, personally I spend a lot of time working,in a standing desk and I'll be happy to,link you guys to an article on how to,build your own standing desk while you, stand you'll be constantly shifting your, weight just like I have throughout these, videos and you'll be changing your, position which is not only great for, your brain it's also much better for, your back and your joints I've even seen, treadmill desks at some of the most, successful startups and companies I've,ever visited and I hear incredible, things about the focus and alertness, that people are able to achieve with, them another important factor is having, sufficient light if you have the right, color of light at the right time of day,it's going to tell your body what should

Sleeping and learning Why sleep is so crucial || Sleeping Hacks
Sleeping and learning Why sleep is so crucial || Sleeping Hacks
sleep is a very broad topic and it's a,little bit out of the purview of this, course but with that said it's still, necessary that we talk about it a little, bit because it is such a pivotal factor,in your ability to learn successfully, and most people don't even realize it,whereas in the past a lot of researchers, didn't quite understand why we sleep, today they're starting to understand it,and the results are alarming for anyone, who habitually deprives themselves of it,so they can get a little more studying,or a little more work or a little more, socializing done you see during sleep, researchers believe that we solidify the, things that have been offered up to our,long-term memory this is why people who,are subjected to long-term sleep, deprivation literally experience memory, blackouts they're unable to remember, what has happened to them or to store, any new memories more importantly a,recent study from the University of,Rochester determined that sleep was an,essential function in clearing out toxic, metabolic wastes from the brain now as,super learners we're focusing much more, intently we're creating many more, memories and we're using many more parts,of the brain than your average learner,we're engaging our visual imagination, our motor skills are emotional brains, and much much more all at a much faster, pace than the brain is used to all of,this heavy lifting is creating metabolic, wastes at a much faster rate and this, explains some of the exhaustion or,discomfort that you might experience, after long super learning sessions for, example when I started really, accelerating my learning pace of speed, reading I found that I was completely, exhausted I could read for about an hour,to an hour and a half and then I needed,a 10 to 15 minute nap to clear out this, feeling of pressure coming from behind,my eyes and at the top of my cranium you, might have the same experience I know, that a lot of super learners do and if,that's the case don't fight it and don't,try to compensate with caffeine a power, nap is always better for learning, because it means that your brain has, multiple opportunities throughout the, day,to do some maintenance and construction, work on your long-term memories this, literally means that you can improve, your learning pace just by taking naps, immediately after intense learning, sessions if you can get into sleep, hacking or get into the habit of power, naps of 20 to 22 minutes every day after, your most productive period that's,honestly the best way to do it but, napping isn't the most important, component remember that the bulk of your, brains work will happen during your core, sleep at night, though this isn't a sleep packing horse,I've added some incredible resources in,the PDF syllabus including two free, interviews that I've conducted with some,of the world's top sleep experts on how,to improve your sleep to give you a,quick summary you should sleep and wake,up at the same time sleep in increments,of 90 minutes, avoid blue or white light three hours, before be

Smart RR App Helps Track Rapists
Smart RR App Helps Track Rapists
in 2015,unicef reported that one in four girls, and one in ten boys in nigeria, had experienced sexual violence before, the age of 18.,and in 2020 the figure has multiplied as,a result of the kovit-19 pandemic, with the nigerian police saying over 700,cases,have been recorded between january and, may,in adamawa state samuel deruk founder of,big family 360 foundation, has created an avenue for victims to,speak out and report, such cases using technology mr dirag has, developed a mobile application called, smart reporting and referral, also known as smart rr the app helps the, track perpetrators of rape, and other gender related crimes it,enables survivors, social workers and service providers, report and refer, cases or incidents using their mobile, phones, smarter is a mobile application that, allows, people to report and brave cases from, their smartphones, and not just smartphones but equally, basic phones because we are integrating, shortcuts and ussd code into the, application, the app simply connects um victims and, survivors to service providers, from the immediate community this,is because um when rape cases, are delayed and the response are delayed,it can easily leads to death but what, smart arrow does normally is to connect,a,victim or survivor to a service provider, from their, immediate community and that and that, came as a result of,our work in the gbv sub sector because,we identified a gap in service provision,in the gender-based violence of sector, normally you hardly identify, who is doing what and where and how to,access them is really difficult,so we thought what if we can create an,app, and an interface whereby these rib, victims and survivors not just rape, victims, but we are looking at gender-based,violence at large,gender-based violence is a sensitive, subject which is why d-rock says the, smart,rr app has gone through reviews and, overcome ethical concerns when,we developed this app and then we,uploaded,it on play store with no promotion,on social media we did not create any, awareness, but within a month we've had 100 plus, downloads i mean 100 plus downloads, and then over 150 cases were reported, via the app within the first, three months so when we uploaded the app,we said um let's watch the adoption, organically,we don't want to promote it we don't,want to create awareness but, let's see the acceptance organically, then within that um three months when,we we've had over 100 downloads and over,150 cases, were reported and then we started seeing, requests from other countries,as far as uganda eastern part of africa, from cameroon how can they use their, equatorial guinea as well, how can they use the app so we thought, this is,actually fully accepted because with, this it has proven to us that people, are in need of this app and then, organizations, from the state started registering, and then they are responding to um cases, without even us moving because for us we,are just an,interface they are connecting via our, platforms, with survivors without even us knowing, but, when we went

How to Make Pizza on a Submarine - Smarter Every Day 246
How to Make Pizza on a Submarine - Smarter Every Day 246
- The limiting factor on
how long a nuclear submarine, can stay submerged is the crew's stomach.,A U.S. Navy nuclear
submarine has technology, that allows it to stay submerged, for an incredible amount of time.,It can make its own freshwater.,It can even generate its own air,,and the reactor that generates the power,to sustain these systems
can operate for years,,but it can't grow food.,So what do they do?,This is the next video
in the "Smarter Everyday",Deep Dive series in
the nuclear submarines.,And we're about to get a
rare, behind the scenes look,at how food is stored,
prepared, and served,on a U. S. fast attack nuclear
submarine on the USS Toledo,,as it operates under the
ice in the Arctic Ocean.,Today, we're gonna talk
to Chief Doug Chatlose,,who's in charge of cooking all the meals,,but first we're going to
talk to Lieutenant Mike Mace.,Mike, otherwise known as
Chop is the supply officer, responsible for acquiring and storing, all provisions on board.,- So this is my freezer.,- So this is your freezer.,- Yep.,This is, I'm accountable for
all the food on the boat.,So this is how we store, the majority of our
proteins on the ship here.,- Dude, it is cold.,I guess it's a freezer,
of course it's cold,,but holy cow, look at all this meat.,Is that like a whole
side of beef back there?,What is that?,- Yep, so we've got some
corn beef back there.,We've got some prime ribs back there.,We've got a lot of chicken.,We got a lot of chicken pucks,,which are essentially
breaded chicken breasts,,chicken nuggets, chicken
tenders, breakfast sausages.,We've got fish.,We've got mozzarella sticks,
which you can see here.,We've got jalapeno poppers.,We've got a ton of bacon.,- So how long can you, how much
food can you put on a ship?,Like how long can this last?,Well, is that, are you allowed to tell me?,- I am required to maintain
30 days at all times,,and I have to be able to load,up to about nine zero
days days of food onboard.,- Really?,- Yep, so we are gettin'
pulled in underwater, for quite a long while.,We get roughly $10.60 a day per person,,to feed three meals.,- Right, your home port
is in Connecticut, right?,- It is, yes.,- So are you always purchasing food there?,Or like if you're, if you
hit a port in like the UK?,- Nope, we order food based off,of where in the world
we're gonna be, right.,So if we pull into a base in Spain,,then I'm gonna be ordering
food out of the Spain catalog,,which is not always the same.,So that comes up with
different challenges, right.,I have to tweak my menu,,so that it can support the
food that I'm able to get,in whatever port we go to.,- This crew loves Carolina
Gold barbecue sauce.,We can't get that back home,,so before we, you know
leave an overseas port,,we'll load up on Carolina
Gold barbecue sauce,,'cause we'll make the crew happy.,So we have to think ahead and,,you know base our menu based on,what we can get from the
catalogs we're ordering from.,- How many ports do you have to hit,,before you kind of like
understand wha
