How To Create Form Popups In Power Apps

How To Create Form Popups In Power Apps

hi everyone henry from enterprise dna, here and in this video we will be,talking about forum pop-ups within, powerapps, what are form pop-ups well i have an,example here that we will be creating, together but forum pop-ups are very, powerful tools for you to provide a,customized experience for your users and, allow them to validate something that, they're about to do in an underlying, database, for example if you go in your iphone, right now and try to delete an,application it will ask you are you sure, you want to delete it,the reason why that happens is to create,a very good ui that contains validation, steps,to ensure that you actually want to do,the action you're going to do,we're going to be doing the same thing, within powerapps, the reason why it's a bit difficult to,do in powerapps natively is because the,way powerapps works is you have elements, that go on a screen, you can't have a screen superimposed, onto another screen so what we do is we,use a grouping method to kind of mimic, that, and if that was confusing that's okay, because we were we will now go into, powerapps and actually do it for real, now i'm in my powerapps editor and i'm,in the process of creating an expense, reporting application for my business, over here on the left hand side of the, screen i have a gallery of all my,expenses, and what i can do for example is i can, click an expense, and get more information about that, expense on the right hand side, for example if i click travel to dallas, office i can see more information about, that expense report like the description, the amount the category the status and,so on and so forth, what i can do in in addition to this is,i can click edit, and on the bottom i can actually delete, this record as well so if i click this, garbage icon,it'll actually remove this record from, the gallery, and that's why i can't even select it,anymore, however what i want to do now is create,a forum pop-up so that if a user goes in,and actually deletes it there's a,message box that appears that confirms,if the user actually wants to delete, this record or not, okay,so the first thing i'm going to do is,i'm actually going to add in a rectangle, that will cover the whole screen so it,will look like the screen is a little, bit faded, just to mirror the appearance of a,screen being on top of one another, okay so i'll go to insert then i'll go,over here to icons, and i'll go all the way to the bottom to,rectangle, and i'll make sure that this rectangle, covers the entire screen, awesome the next thing i'm going to do,is i'll change the color of this to,let's see dark gray, and then i'll go to the fill property of,this rectangle and you have the red,the green the blue but you also have the, alpha valley which represents the, opacity or the transparency we'll make, the transparency 0.7,so it looks like it's kind of faded, right, what we'll then do is we will add in,another rectangle, don't know why it's always at the bottom, and this will be our pop-up box, okay perfect,we'll then add in a label, and in thi

Leverage the Strength of Popups in Power Apps-[061221857]

Leverage the Strength of Popups in Power Apps-[061221857]

let's talk today a few minutes about the, strength of pop-ups so we're going to go,ahead and look at this screen and really, review what this means to to use pop-up,screens how it actually helps with our, application, and makes navigation so much easier and,the ability to really capture, information that much faster so stay, tuned we're going to jump right to it,so the concept of using a pop-up screen,is actually very simple to do and as you,can see here represented on your screen, this is actually a,an app that i have called notes and, actions and this notes and actions, allows me to take all of the information, from, within microsoft office 365,information i'm dealing with on a,regular basis and drop it in,to this application which allows for a,greater search capability, and, categorizing and cataloging information,so we're not going to go into that in,this video but what we are going to go,into is the strength of using pop-outs,in this scenario so let me just jump, right to one and show you exactly what,we mean,so when we click here we get into a,meeting note and although you can't,really see the meeting note i've i've,blanked it out but you get the idea, right, there at the top i'm i put in a name of,the meeting note and i'm literally, sitting in a meeting with somebody, talking about a specific topic, and while i'm speaking to that, individual a need to create a task comes,up because it's not, uncommon in a meeting that you're going,to have tasks generated from that, meeting in fact i would submit to you, that if meetings do not have any actions, following them you may want to take a,closer look at whether or not that, meeting is even needed but let's not go,down that that hole right now let's just, say i'm in the meeting and i want to,make an assignment of a task i'm sitting, talking to the individual and now i just, want to make a task for that individual,so i quickly click on the l there, and it's going to create a task for me,now you can see all the other ones,in this category as well, they all, create tasks for other people in other, plans and buckets so you can specify and,i'll show you it here in a moment but,you can specify in great detail where, that information goes within your, environment so there are other videos i,have this is an overview but there are, other videos that go into the details of,how to create each one of these if,you're a little unclear but i'm going to,give you a broad overview so here we're,just going to create a task here and,we're just going to title it test right, now and we're going to title this test, details so that we can actually go over, and see, inside of planner what's going on now, notice here this reference link id now,i'm just going to double click on it and,hit copy that was not auto generated,i've created tasks, for this meeting this example that we're,using already and so i put in a unique,id now i use the date, the day,the month the year and the time that's,how i kind of generate these unique id's,whatever works for you is fine but yo

PowerApps Conditional Formatting and Popups

PowerApps Conditional Formatting and Popups

and today's show with power outs we will, get doing things like conditional, formatting hiding a consent button based,on whether or not a bunch of values are, true and how to do some complex things, there,we'll get using a toggle button and then,we do a pop up screen and we talked, about how to toggle in and out that even, though it's all on just one screen, pretty exciting stuff but first here's,our intro hi my name is Shane Young with, bold zebras those guys in today's show,is all about power apps in making your, app more usable right so we're going to,look at a consent form that we built in,a previous video link below where you're,going to see alright now that we have a,simple form how do we do things like, only elect them press the consent button,if they filled out all the fields, correctly and how do we do a pop up,screen to say thank you and how do we,send them an optional email that they, can opt in and out of so a bunch of,little things like that that just take, your simple form that did collect the, data we needed but makes it more of a,user experience so you also see me make,a really ugly screen because I'm,terrible design but that's something,we've all got to get better at because,it's really important power apps so,let's just switch over to my desktop to,get started okay so over here we're,going to open up our browser and we're,gonna open up the consent form that we,built in the previous video right so if,you don't having this would be kind of,hard to follow along but down below in,the description is a link to that video, where we built a very simple form it's,an hour's gonna add a bunch of the,whiz-bang features right and that first,whiz-bang feature for me is going to be,when give people will prompt if they, have entered a and Vout email address to,help them write we know we already, changed the text to read we did that in,the previous video but now we're going,to also add a little pop-up so say label, and we'll kind of make it this slide, right in here fit it like this and like, that no more, and for the text we'll enter something, like star please check your,so like that and then we will set the, color for this to red so we'll just type, that in,alright so please check your email so,that's a good will pop-up now we don't,always want that to be there there right, and to do that we're going to go down, here to visible and so the visible right, now is just set to true so it's a except,to true or false value and we're going,to do is we write an if statement to,evaluate whether or not that should be,visible, okay I'm gonna paste that in because you, don't wanna watch me type all this we'll,talk through what this is because this, one probably took me 30 minutes maybe an,hour don't tell anybody it was a lot of,work because it's a very double negative, kind of thing so let's talk about so,what do we do here is we say if and the, very first portion of our if is going to,an or and so or is going to return true,if either one of the two equations that, were any of the multip

Power Apps - Warning Popups

Power Apps - Warning Popups

hey everyone this is Ryan and today,we're going to look at creating a,warning pop-up that will notify the user, when they try to deactivate an account,if there are underlying active contacts,so this warning message can be used for, other purposes in your apps but it just, gives you an idea of how you can use a,pop-up message when a violation is,triggered in your app so our current, setup is,when you click the deactivate button,it will just automatically just, deactivate the account to an inactive,State and then if you click the check, box it will activate the account,to an active state so it's pretty simple, logic in place right now but of course, what we want to do is have that pop-up,that says hey there's you know active, contacts underneath this account are you, sure do you want to deactivate so let's,do that so what we will do first is look,at our deactivation button,so right now it's a simple,we're just patching the accounts table,to say let's mark it inactive so we want,to interrupt this process, and say okay let's find out if there are,any underlying contacts here that are, active,so what we're going to do is we're going,to count those contacts up that are, active so we're going to use count rows, and we're going to filter on contacts, and what we're going to do here is we,have to use the company name field on,the contact record which is actually a,polymorphic field which means it can, look up to,two different record types so it can, look up to accounts or contacts so what,we have to do here is use the as type, feature and we're going to have to enter, look for company name, and we're going to have to Define it as,accounts, okay,so we're going to say where this account, and you can see how it pulls up the list, from the account because we're able to,say as type accounts, equals, this item so this is the item that we're,currently selecting in the gallery, account,so what we want to do is we want to say,if this is above zero,if we want to show the pop-up,so we're going to update, this new variable we're going to call it,display pop-up,and we're going to set it to true, okay, and then otherwise if there are no,active contacts underneath we're going,to use the same patch function we had, previously, and then we're going to close it,okay so that will, get our,um,basically our deactivation to work with,a pop-up,so what we need to do is actually create, the pop-up so here we'll add four, components to the form,we're going to add a rectangle which is,going to be our backdrop, okay so the rectangle here with all that, rectangle you know let's say, deactivation, backdrop, and what I like to do for these pop-ups,is use white, and for the Border I'm going to use two, pixels for the border and I like to use, gray in this case uh it matches the, color scheme here, and it's good just to center it and put,it up,and then what we could do here is add a,text label so this is going to be the, label that describes what the error is,or what validation we hit against,so this is going to be our label, valida

Confirmation Popups Screens in PowerApps

Confirmation Popups Screens in PowerApps

hi in this video you're gonna learn all, about how to create confirmation pop-up,screens inside your pal wraps, application so stay tuned so you build,an application that has a really, critical point path perhaps you want to,delete a record or you want to confirm, before if somebody sends an email to the, entire company, well this common application technique,of popping out the confirmation saying, are you sure you wanna do this action is,what we're going to cover in this short, video so let's go back to our, application that was a Salesforce, application where we were searching for,an account once he found the account we,show a list of users in that account and, then we give you a map this is from our, last two or three videos we've been, doing so what I want to produce today is,a delete box and before somebody deletes, that user I want to make sure I confirm, are you sure you want to do that so,first of all I'm gonna go inside this, this gallery I'll go ahead and pick an,item hit little pencil icon pick an item,I'll pick a separator for example and, then inside the icons all pick a,trashcan the whole reason I'm inside the, galleries to make sure that I should see, this trashcan three times in my instance,to show that I've actually ripped that,I'm inside the repeater not outside the,the gallery so with that now done let's,go ahead and not wire it up quite yet,but let's go ahead and create our it's,going to leave this guy here let's go,ahead and create our instance whoops and,do that for time being we'll come back,to it later let's go ahead now and, create our little pop-up it's going to,happen from that so to do that well it's,a little bit around inside a pal wrap,it's not a no direct screen you can,pop-up or some temporary thing so don't,do that what we're gonna do is we're,going to create a CH a shape on top of,our screen give it a kind of translucent, look put our question on there you sure, you want to delete this yes no and then, hide it and show it based on certain, kind of actions that have been created,so to do that let's go inside and create, our shape first under the icons area, you'll find these icons all the way at,the very bottom will find our rectangle, there alright we'll go,and occupy the entire space and you'll,see under the main properties I fill, color of some sort so let's go for a,nice light color like a light bluish, color and then you'll notice when I go,to the advanced properties or I can also, see it under fill right here but the, advanced properties down below that, reason to 41 to 44 if whatever that is,right there that one is what I wanted to,bring your attention to that one, represents how translucent is this how, much how much transparency is there 100%,in this case 1 means you cannot see, through it but if I did like a point 5,I'll be able to see through it 50,percent so point 5 is little too too, little then you point 7 or 0.8 it's,probably the right answer let's go just, try 0.8 yeah that's about right so you, still see what's going on inside the,app
