so exactly four hundred and four hundred,and four days ago I started working on,something and today is the day that I,get to tell you what that is quick,backstory on the 26th of April 2018 I,was streaming on Twitch - well no,viewers at the time because I had no,followers on Twitch I was thinking to,myself with all the subscribers that I,have on you - why can't I send my twitch,stream to them I could upload a video,saying hey I'm live come watch I could,tweet about it but we all know that the,click-through rate on both of those are,terrible is generally just not a good,idea to do that and let me on - thinking,what do subscribers on youtube even mean,and I think as of late the answer is not,very much across all platforms the,concept of subscribing to something is I,feel like it's pushed to the sidelines,today in favor of recommended content,I'm okay with recommended but we've lost,the essence of what a subscription is,and I think for the few creators that,you really really enjoy you should be,able to subscribe to them so I had this,idea that I could send a notification,through an app that would open another,app like YouTube or twitch or Spotify or,virtually any other platform no matter,where they would go no matter where they,put their content if it was a new song,one day or it was a twitch stream,another I could just send that content,directly to them as if it were just,another YouTube notification or a twitch,stream notification so I took that,concept and built an entire platform,around it and called it notify notify,dot me why it works is simple you would,go to notify don't me / Jaime download,the app when you set it up you'd already,be subscribed to me and voila it's done,like there's nothing else to do but I,felt like just the notification part,wasn't enough and so what I ended up,with is this platform that brings back,the subscription feed it allows you to,really take control over who you,subscribe to what content you get I feel,like it puts you more in control of of,that rather than some automated system,because as smart as an algorithm can get,it's never really going to know what you,want as well as you know what you,a huge part of the magic of this for me,is that it works for any platform but,it's not for every platform if that,makes sense you're not meant to get,notified about every time I tweet or,every time I reply to a comment on,reddit for example it's it's meant for,the important content the stuff that I,would really want to tell my hundred and,fifty thousand subs so I put in things,like for example that on each channel is,a frequency rating that shows how often,a channel post notifications so you know,that you're not gonna get spammed when,you subscribe to them we have a lot of,tools that really help you control the,quality of your notifications that you,can control those notification settings,across all devices just from the one app,subscription feed is completely,chronological but also has the ability,to be filtered so you can fin

Making Alexa talk in NodeRED with NotifyMe

How to Use the Notify Me Feature in PublishPress

How To Save Your Desktop Notifications

one of my favorite things to do on this,channel is to come up with a problem,that exists on Linux and then solve that,problem through the use of some basic,bash scripting or using some of the,basic command line utilities the gnu,core utils things like that and today I,came up with this problem that exists on,Linux that's very easy to solve and I'm,really not going to get into a lot of,scripting or programming or any nerdy,stuff I'm going to show you how a,typical Linux user solves these problems,and how they typically solve these,problems is you do a quick Google search,or whatever you you typically you'll,find Solutions on forums such as stack,Overflow and then you just do a copy and,paste somebody's probably already,written the script for you and then you,just Implement that into your workflow,so the problem I was wanting to solve,today was desktop notifications you get,your little desktop notifications on,Linux when you get a new email you'll,get a little box saying you've got a new,email or when when somebody messages you,on social media like Mastodon or,something you'll get the little pop-up,box and I always assumed that these,notifications were logged somewhere on,Linux like there was some file somewhere,where all of your notifications were,written to that you could go back and,later view this stuff but that's,actually not the case some desktop,environment some of the bigger desktop,environments you know they'll have,little widgets where when you click on,your notifications they'll give you a,list of your past handful of,notifications or whatever I know that,exists in good gnome KDE plasma budgie,has little side panel that pops out with,your notifications but you can't go very,far back in your history and these,things are really not permanently saved,anywhere it's not like you can go back,and read notifications from like last,week last month last year Well I want,these things permanently saved to a log,file so let me switch over to my desktop,and show you a little bit of what I want,to do here I meant X monad today so I'm,in a telling Window Manager ex monad the,panel at the top here is the xmobar,panel and that's important to know,because first of all I'm going to open a,terminal and I'm going to go ahead and,zoom in a little bit and then I'm going,to send myself a message instead of,waiting for like an email or something,to come up right you could be waiting,for minutes or even hours for your next,desktop notification I'm gonna do notify,Dash send notify send takes two,arguments typically the first argument,is often the program sending you the,message or the online service sending,you the message or whatever it happens,to be so I could do something like,Firefox and maybe the message that,Firefox is sending me is some message,okay and if I click on that you can see,I get the notification my little desktop,notification from Firefox sending me,some message now let me click on the,desktop notification so it goes away now,imagine I didn't real
