Enabling Shopify Multiple Currencies

Hey, everybody.,This is Ori from Astral Web, and I'm going to show you how to add multiple,currencies to your Shopify store.,So what are multiple currencies?,If you have a store, for example, this development one that I just made,,you'll be able to allow your customers to view your products and the pricing, right?,So if a customer comes and it's a U.S. store, they'll see, you know, this product is $100, this is $179, etc.,If you have international customers, you can allow them to have a currency switcher to see,your products in different prices, right?,So for example, this product is $100.,If I do offer Canadian dollars, the customer can click and obviously see in the local price,,$148 Canadian.,Okay.,So how do you do that?,So it's really, really simple.,There's very few things we can do and let's just jump into it.,So first of all, you log into your back end store, your back end Shopify and you click on settings,,and you go to payment providers.,Now this video shows you the default of Shopify which means you can only use Shopify payments,for multiple currencies.,Okay. Shopify Multi Currency Checkout

on just a quick little video to show you,the new feature our Shopify payments and,it is the ability to sell in multiple,currencies and what you have to do is,going to your payment providers Shopify,payments and then if this is enabled on,your account you can add currencies that,you wish to selling as you can see here,I've added the British Pound Australian,dollar Canadian dollar Danish Krone new,raw New Zealand dollar in the US dollar,now couple of problems with this when,rounding up it rounds up to a whole,figure it doesn't round up to 0.99 also,it's not automatic so when the visitor,lands on your page they have to select,the currency from a drop-down menu there,is a way around it by putting a question,mark currency equals GDP or the currency,called the USD AUD on the end of your,URL saw your individual campaigns would,have to be for individual countries so,for example if I was taller than the USA,I would put a question mark currency,equals USD and that will automatically,change the currency of my store to US,Dollars and ICA rounds them up to the,nearest dollar rather than a point 99,which I don't particularly like and it's,not automatic you could ruin your,traffic through another server before it,hits your store where it could pick up,the country based on an IP address and,then redirect to the store with the,correct currency but that would add a,long time,you're lying on your store getting the,traffic via the third-party server but,there you have the backend so it is,there and I'm going to test it on a few,companies today and see how it goes but,just to let you know how I got this on,my store I created a number of campaigns,and different currencies namely not in,different currencies targeted Australia,Canada Europe New Zealand and United,States with separate campaigns and I've,run traffic on them for around about,three or four weeks and I've been a,hammer in Shopify saying I was gonna,pull Shopify payments off and they've,eventually gave up and put it on my,store so there you go it is there while,it's not very good it is it's there and,the checkout in their local currency,which I believe does put a lot of people,off and have multiple stores in multiple,currencies so I'm going to reduce the,amount of stores that I have assuming my,tests go well identical stores in GBP,and replica in USD replica renewals etc,etc so it's gonna be interesting to see,this test

Snipcart Tutorial - Multi-currency

- Hi there. Snipcart supports multiple currencies,within its checkout process.,In this video, you'll learn,how to set up these currencies,to fit your business needs.,Let's do this.,This first use case is applied if you're building,what we could call a standard website,,using a site builder, such as WordPress.,You need to know which currency,customers will use before the page is generated.,If it's not your case, don't worry.,I'll cover another example afterward.,So the first and easiest way to define your default,cart currency is by using the "data-currency" attribute.,It is set on the Snipcart div tag, alongside your API key.,As you can see,,this change will reflect in the cart automatically.,You can also define different prices on your products,,depending on the currency.,To do so, use a JSON object in the "data-item-price",attribute instead of a single number.,In this example, I'll specify the amount in Euro,,Canadian Dollars, and US Dollars.,Then, depending on the currency set,in the "data-currency" attribute,,you'll see the price being adjusted properly.,As I mentioned earlier, the first example works great,,if you already know which currency,your customers are paying with,,however, you might want to allow them,to decide the currency they want.,Let's add a dropdown in the header of the site,,highlighting different supported currencies.,For this to work, make sure,that the "data-currency" attribute is not present.,Then, in a "script" tag,,let's add some JavaScript.,We'll use the "snipcart.ready" event,to make sure our API is ready and available.,We'll enable the cart currency,to be updated when the dropdown value,is changed using the,"Snipcart.api.session.setCurrency" method.,As you can see,,changing the currency via the dropdown now works.,However, the default selected value,doesn't match the actual cart currency,,let's address that.,Create a function named "updateSelectedCurrency",,which will retrieve the currency from the state.,Then set the dropdown value in JavaScript.,This method will be called whenever there's a change,in the state using the store available via our SDK.,Refresh the website one last time,,and you'll notice that,the default selected currency now works fine.,These steps will set up,the client side of your multicurrency store.,You now need to add which currency,your store supports in the merchant dashboard.,Open up your dashboard and go to "Regional settings",,from there add all supported currencies.,Note that the first currency you set here,will be the default one used by Snipcart on your site,,and that's it.,To configure and customize your cart,and checkout flow further,,please refer to our documentation.
