hey guys my name is andrew from become,expert dot io and we're back with,another Shopify tag review so this week,we're going to do an entire series about,meta field acts and we are gonna dive,right in and we're going to show you the,middle field manager app so let's go and,check that one out so let's say that you,need more than just the title,description and the product description,and you need a separate field on your,product page but there is no space in,the backend to add this fields what do,you what do you do or you want to add a,picture or a video or you know just a,text box or URL or anything you want to,add additional information so you reach,out to an agency and they will help you,fix it true but even the agency will,tell you to use a metafile apps many,fields basically allow you to add fields,in different pages or product pages,whether that is general pages collection,pages or even home pages and in that,field you can store additional,information from pictures to video to,text boxes and so this week we're going,to cover the meta field manager app,which allows you to do exactly this add,more information to a specific page more,more fields to a specific page the,installation of meta field manager is as,simple as downloading the app from the,Shopify app store integrating it with,your Shopify or Shopify Plus account and,the app will automatically take you into,this main dashboard as you see the - the,dashboard I'm sorry looks clean it's,easy to navigate it's not a masterpiece,of design but we're here for,functionality not necessarily designed,so from here you can choose from editing,your meta fields configuration having,meta fields editing your custom object,configuration creating modifying custom,objects in,from CSV files export from C as juicy as,V files import from export file generate,export file on her book upload assets,that sounds intimidating but let's break,it up let's start with adding some meta,fields to the test page we've created,for this purpose when you click Edit,meta field configuration new window will,open with your global meta field,configuration for each object title this,is easy even for beginners let's add a,meta field to the page object click on,the blue button that says add a meta,field it's important to mention that,this step is the same on every object,you have a meta field handle and a type,of middle field you want to add you can,choose from HTML image file multiple,files custom object strings and triggers,which are numbers lists checkbox lists,select date and a boolean which is true,or false we will start with let's say,HTML so we will add custom HTML we will,go with the text for page as a minute,field to handle for those who don't know,what middle field handle is it's like a,key to use and know what you are calling,the right meta field now we need to save,this in configuration like this and we,need to actually add the data by,clicking on add meta field we will,select page as it's the object type then,click on obj

Metafields Manager App : Adding Extra Product Data

hi everyone today we're gonna be adding,some extra data to our products using,the meta field manager app the meta,field manager app is a new app for,Shopify which allows you to add extra,data to any objects within your Shopify,store for this example we're gonna be,selling women's dresses and we're gonna,want to add three extra fields to the,product particularly those fields are,going to be the measurements of the,dress the materials of the dress and a,video of the dress so the customer can,see it in motion in order to get started,we should install the meta field manager,app and go to the home page once you're,at the home page you're going to want to,edit the configuration as you can see,there are many types of objects that you,can edit product article collection,customer page blog and the global shop,object if you're doing something else,you may want to edit these objects but,in our case we just want to add two,fields to the product so let's go ahead,and click on product and add a meta,field so first we're gonna add the,measurements which is going to be an,HTML block then we're gonna add the,materials there's gonna be another HTML,block then we're gonna add the video,which is gonna be a file you'll notice,you can also add an image custom object,string or integer but in our case we'll,stick with file it's it now you're going,to want to actually add the data so the,actual measurements materials and file,for each individual object you're gonna,start by finding it going into product,in our case cross back dress and you'll,see here that we have three extra fields,we have measurements materials and video,so we're gonna go ahead and add those in,right now put in materials,put it measurements now let's add a,video,and it's it,great everything uploaded as you can see,three coats Tippit's were generated,these are snippets that you're gonna use,in your product liquid file in order to,display the new data so we're gonna do,that now by going and editing our,product that liquid file I'm going to,copy this I'm going to go down I'm going,to add the materials and the,measurements,and now I'm going to go ahead and add,the video,and then I'm gonna hit save and now all,we have to do is hit refresh and you'll,see our extra fields have been added so,you'll see the materials the,measurements and down here is the video,so it's that easy with the meta field,manager wrap and this is just the,beginning there's plenty of other things,you can do depending on your business,needs and goals and there's plenty of,resources online for you to look at,thank you for your time

Shopify 2.0 Metafields Tutorial (Real Store Examples)

shopify metafields are finally here,uh they're part of the overall shopify,online store 2.0 update,um which is a huge update that shopify,rolled out about mid 2021 okay so it's,been six months now,uh we've got a lot of new themes that,are on shopify online store 2.0,uh architecture and one of the most,important features that i want to talk,about today is meta fields metafields,have been available for a while but only,developers could use them because they,weren't part of the actual shopify admin,like the interface now that we have new,themes on online store 2.0 regular,people store owners marketers you can,use them as well firstly let's talk,about what are meta fields okay they're,basically custom fields,for products and for collections,okay what i mean by custom fields i mean,that,when you're,creating a new product right in your,shopify admin,you have the title field you have the,description box right you have the price,and you can upload images,so these are all fields right but you,don't have you're not able to create,your own custom fields,are you,um you're not able to say,split the description into two parts say,you want like a title and then you want,like a subtitle like like maybe one,sentence that goes under the title and,then you want the main description below,that right you can't create your own,like subtitle field or you couldn't,before but now you can,with matter fields okay so that's what,matter fields are they're custom fields,uh for your products mainly,and for your collections as well,so in this video,i'm going to be showing you how,you can use them how you can set up meta,fields so how you can define them first,you define meta fields,through settings in your shopify admin,and then you can use them on products,and i'm also going to show you how i'm,using metafields now,on a real website so that you can have,like a real life example,okay actually let's jump right into a,real life example okay i'm gonna show,you this first how how this brand fresh,ego kid,they're a client of mine okay and i've,been working on their site over the past,year or so just adding little upgrades,just little features that they wanted,and,one of these features is this other,options thing right this other options,section as you can see it's just it's,the same pants in a different color,and they call it other options and they,have lots of products across their store,that have this other options,section so how do they actually add this,right because this isn't an app,um they didn't want to pay for an app,they'd rather pay me one time so that i,could um set this up for them,and then they have this ability and they,don't need to rely on an app or pay for,an app monthly or anything like that and,this is using meta fields okay,um,so let me show you how that,what that looks like,so let's jump into the product admin,um this is that same product,and if we scroll all the way down to the,bottom,look at this we have meta fields right,we didn't have this before we didn't,

HOW TO USE SHOPIFY METAFIELDS - EXPLAINED by Shopify Experts

How to manage Shopify Metafields?

In this tutorial I will show you how to manage Shopify Metafields, ,that is, how to create, update and delete them in your Shopify store. And this is a valid ,tutorial for all these items - for Products, for Smart Collections, Custom Collections, Customers, ,Draft Orders, Orders, Pages, Blog Posts, Shop, because all these kinds of items can ,have Metafields but we will work in this example on Products because it's the most typical case ,and by the way this is a tutorial on our website "How To Manage Shopify Metafields" ,and we will basically cover all these chapters that are here but just in a ,video form that you can then see exactly how we are doing each of those things. Let's get started! ,So we have here our Matrixify (Excelify) app with which we are going to do all this and ,as a starting point i have prepared here a couple of Products that we are going to play with and so ,on our Store just to see where we start basically in the catalog is just the plain products with no ,other details just like a title and price and this one has two variants because we will also ,do the variant Metafields and I will show you how to show Metafields on your Product Page as well. ,Alright, so if we want to update our Metafields we can do it by basically updating our Products ,and to do that we would just go to Matrixify (Excelify) app to export ,I choose the format to Matrixify (Excelify) Excel and basically here under the columns we ,choose a Basic Columns and Metafields and Variant Metafields just to see if we have any of those ,already and actually in Advanced we can remove anything that's not needed that you don't want to ,update or see, in fact, any columns that are not needed, for example, we don't need Body HTML, ,we don't need Vendor, Type, Tags, Tags Command. Basically we can remove any ,of the columns that we don't need like that. We will just keep those: ID, Handle, Command, Title, ,Row Number, Top Row Indicator, the Variant ID and the Metafields and the Variant Metafields. Also, ,if you need to update just specific products, not all of them, you can always apply those filters ,and you can filter by all of those fields to specifically target the products that you want to ,update this time, but we will export all of them because we have just two sample products. I press ,Export and we wait while it's finishing. Alright, so our Export has finished and we just Download ,the Exported File and in that file we can see our chosen columns that we are going to work with.,So basically it's the ID, it's the Product ID which allows us to identify this product quickly, ,the Handle is the friendly handle basically this is the URL for this product, the Command tells ,whether we want to update or delete this product but we will update this product. The Title is the ,product title of course the Row Number shows which particular row in this file it is and Top Row TRUE ,tells that this is a top row in case we

Using order metafields in "My Account" in BigCommerce

what do you do if you have information,about orders stuck in your back office,system like your erp and you want to,make that available to customers in,their my account area in bcommerce,that can be a tricky problem,i think you can solve it with order meta,fields,hi i'm tom i'm innovation director at,space48 and every day i'm looking to,help people get the most out of their,ecommerce platform and,unlock its potential um that's cheesy as,far as i can't swear can i,so how might we go about this,all the metafields are,essentially custom attributes that you,can put on a few different things in,bigcommerce we have things like,categories products brands product,variants and orders,some of these are available through the,storefront api which is a graphql based,api that you can request,and add to your theme whether that be in,kind of through javascript or through,stencil and front matter,unfortunately orders aren't available,right now as it stands and so while you,could set up a process to put this data,in order meta fields say your custom,invoice id you could put it in there but,you couldn't get it out again very,easily within your theme,the only way to,get access to all the meta fields is,through the management api right now,and that's something you wouldn't want,to kind of surface or make available to,your storefront because it would just,leak sensitive data and you need a way,of identifying should this person be,able to view these this order or,information about this and so we have an,app mess field manager to help people,manage their meta fields yeah i bet,you've never guessed and i was reaching,out to customers recently to see if,they've got any feedback and one person,came in touch or got back in touch and,shared that they had this precise,problem and i'd actually laid out in a,forum post how you might tackle this you,might achieve this with a web app that,accepts requests from the front end,verifies that the,person making that request should have,access to to an order,fetching the order meta fields from,bigcommerce and then returning them to,the customer now that i appreciate is,you know part of me can feel good,because i've found a problem,been the technical architect and shown,someone the solution,but it kind of sucks to kind of push,back on them i appreciate just quite how,much effort it would be to build that,just that,piece of functionality and worry about,kind of the uptime of that little app,so why don't we add that as our first,api to meta fields manager,and so that's what i'm going to take you,through today,bigcommerce has a an api that you can,use on the storefront called a current,customer api,simply make a request to it and it will,provide you with a special token called,jwt which is an encoded version or an,encrypted version of basic customer data,and it tells you who is logged in,so,what the integration requires you to do,is make a request to this endpoint,provide that jwt to our api along with,you know what store and what order you'

How to use Shopify Metafields (custom fields)

hey this is young from let's go chop,off' i and in today's video i will give,you a quick overview on Shopify meta,fields also sometimes referred as,Shopify custom fields so that you can,start using them today and let's get,started alright so in my last video we,were working on adding some tabs to the,product page so that you can maybe have,the description in one tab and then some,additional details about the product in,the second tab and maybe some,information on the delivery in the third,tab but the problem with this setup,right now is that all these values are,hard-coded into the theme file and we,can also have a quick look on that so,for example here we have the first tab,with the product description which is,already dynamic so that's great,but here we have the second tab which,contains this HTML table with two rows,and we display the material and the,weight but since these values are,hard-coded into the theme file they will,appear on every single product page,and so we can find them on the product,page for the vanilla candle but also on,other product pages for example for this,pillow and this doesn't make too much,sense right now,so I think this is a good use case to,introduce meta fields to display this,information dynamic and let's see how,this works so the first advice I can,give you when it comes to shop if a meta,fields is to use an app and I mean there,are ways to manage your meta fields,without any app but for the sake of,simplicity and especially if you're,building this for someone else then you,want to provide an easy to use and good,looking interface and so I went to the,Shopify App Store and simply searched,for our meta fields and you can see,there are plenty of apps and they come,with different pricing but also with,different functionality so for example,some have CSV import which might be,interesting if you have hundreds or even,thousands of products but for this video,we will stick to the meta field guru app,because at the point I record this it is,totally free and it comes with a very,intuitive interface and they have some,great features to come in the future,so I already went ahead and installed,that up to the Shopify development store,and now we can have a look inside the,app but let's open it and once this,loads you will be presented with all the,objects that can have meta fields,assigned to them for example we have,collections products and maybe even blog,posts but as we were interested in,product for this video let's open the,product section and right here you will,find a list of all the products,available on your store so let's search,for the vanilla candle,and you can see that it doesn't have any,meta fields right now but let's create a,new meta field and now we have to define,a namespace and the key and with these,two attributes we can later access the,meta fields value so let's give it the,namespace of details because it belongs,to the product details and for the key,we can use material and then we have the,value type

Shopify Metafields Import/Creation Using Postman

i'm using postman,to import uh specification,data to um shopify products,in this video we're addressing the,commercial product issue because right,now we have a lot of products we can't,even edit,or put data into there to edit them with,the medical editor,so this will um solve that and uh it can,be modified or expanded,i had to take some measures because of,existing information,on current machines could be home,machines uh grinders,some data was done some wasn't um so we,need to find a way to,work around that issue,so first thing we did was i had a bunch,of templates,so i'll give the example here is i can,scroll down slayer espresso here,and there's one group i'm not sure if,the main is right could be,um but i'm looking at this thing right,now and i'm seeing one two and three,groups right here,so i'm going to edit this product take a,look at it and i already started this,fray i got here but,if you just have commercial in the tags,it's how it works i know there's a lot,of,tags here a commercial is the main one,and what i did is i had one two three,commercial and i did that was,just i'll say this like this so it goes,away,and there's a few templates a document,in the email,this this coordinator i see one two,three groups,so here i'm gonna type in one two,and you see three group the one two be,one and two group,uh i select it there,you see it pop right there i save that,and that's gonna update the template,have three columns,now you say how to with the data,to shopify how do i get it there okay,so i'm gonna use a template i copy the,same data so no one uh scream at me,but use the product id copy that,not the variant id for the product id is,anyone who's doing some shopify and,oh do know that um,so the first thing i'll show you is the,templates i created,uh this test is the one here for this,layer i'll paste this one,here it's already there so i'll just,close this,and as i said before i did go through,the machines these are all the one group,machines that need specifications,so anyone wants to grab these and fill,them in for information,uh please do please know you can't,change,the suffixes inches watts big seam,machines they're fixed,and again if i remove those i remove,them off of everything,so we got to deal with this a step at a,time,uh i do see a one two group template,and this can be used for one and two,group,or two and three group i didn't create a,three and four yet but i can but you,could,and then we have a one two and three,group,template as you can see the difference,is i'm just duplicating these fields,so i have more fields import specific,specifications for three groups and this,works for,one two and three group or two three and,four group,so we'll take the example that we just,did i have a document set up here for,testing,called test three and uh,i put the id in there this is all,information from somewhere,i didn't copy it exactly it came from an,old test,um and please note that this field here,if you are reporting has to be removed,fo
