today we're going to talk about the, power of the lost leader, hey what's going on guys it's Mike,Gaston and this is number four in a,multi-part series on pricing strategies,we're going to talk about the lost, leader today have you heard about a loss, leader have you've done any shopping at,a supermarket or a department store you, know what a loss leader is it something, that they offer to get you in the door,it's usually something that they sell at,their cost or maybe even at a bit of a,loss but it's to get you to come in the, door they advertise this thing you're,like oh my gosh I can't believe they're,selling milk for a dollar a gallon you, fire up the grocery getter you blow into, the parking lot cuz you got to get that, milk and they know that once you're in,the door you're gonna buy some other, stuff and so once you go get the milk, which is usually in the back of the, store you kind of stop on your way and, pick up bananas and get some bread and,you know what I'm really hankering for, some chocolate chip cookies next thing, you know you've dropped about $100,you're back in the van on your way home, and that's the loss leader it's just to,get the customer in the door so that you,can start to do real business with them, and yeah they may have lost a buck or,two on that gallon of milk but they made,up for it and all those other items that, you purchased while you were there and,so for service based businesses the loss, leader can be a very powerful tool so if,you're the kind of professional that, offers some type of service like graphic, design or accounting or photography or,digital marketing or any of those things, you're looking for ways to get your, customers in the door what I often see, with these kinds of service based, professionals is they'll give that, initial work away for free and in there,my next kind of loss leader it's like, well I'm gonna do some of this work I'll,throw a little bit of my thinking out, there I want to show them how good I am,I want to convince them that they should, work with me so I'm going to give them, some initial concepts for free or I'll,sit down and do a consult but I'll give, them some work product out of that, consult and I'll do that hoping that, they'll then hire, well the problem with that approach is,twofold first of all as I always say you, only have so much time and your time is,really what's available when you give, that time away you can't get a pack you, can't charge for it but that's kind of,the minor issue in this instance the, biggest issue is you are conditioning, your clients and customers to devalue, your work if you're willing to give away, your thinking for free at the very, beginning where are you going from there, how are you going to get the customer to,believe that you're worth a lot of money, down the road I found often when we ran,our agency if someone hired us initially,to do business cards for them right hey,we need some business cards design and, reprint it or whatever okay so we update, some phone numbers maybe change a

Louis,a lot of snow on the ground a lot of ice,on the ground a lot of salt going up and,we thought we'd pop into the local car, wash down here at the Mobile on the run, just then here just affiliate bought,Road if you want to look it up anyway we,stopped in there for all intents and, purposes to buy a car wash and we pull,up to the car wash and there's a lovely, lady there I forget her name but but I,actually went in after this and, nominated her for employee of the month,to the manager / owner there because she,did such a good job anyway,so we pull up there with the intention,of buying, ten dollar car wash so this young lady, out here in the snow in the ice and wind, and she says look we're having this, special where you pay $10 a month for,the next three months it's $10 a month, they'll put a sticker in the windscreen,of your car windshield for all your,Americans and you get as many car washes,as you want all that month for $10 not,$10 each for $10 so why wouldn't you do,that huh why wouldn't you think well I'd,probably get three or four car washes,I'm already spending maybe a dollar, extra of what I was going to spend, before I'll yell so I'm not for that, well not only did that wrap the bargain,up but they said that we get a special, coupon for cheap fuel so this is your, exterior washers here there's a there's,a code here that gives me cheap gas it's,in here somewhere, family discount for gas and this handy, dandy country club car wash drink, container drink older hot drinks cold, drinks now again why wouldn't you sign,up for this we certainly did and I was,in there the next day and I actually in,actually an

What is a Loss Leader? | The Loss Leader Principle
What is a Loss Leader? | The Loss Leader Principle
wael oh there in case you're anew my,name is dick flip Nick and welcome to,online world systems on today's episode,we are going to be talking about, something called a loss leader and, that's a business concept that stores, use to they loose money on one product,to make a ton of money on another, product well hey guys thanks for joining,us today um I always like to start off, with a little joke and today's joke is,what do you call a cow with no arms no,legs with no hooks or whatever you call, think about it put it in the comments if,you think you know pause the video, alrighty in case you didn't get it or,did get it don't delete your answer, didn't get it it is called ground beef, ground beef all right so let's dive, right into the loss leader principle so,what that means is stores I'm just just, name a couple Walmart does it McDonald's,says it all the time any stores that I,can afford a blue some losses they have, lots of profit so they can afford to do,experiments like this to try to attain, future profit build future profitability, and so what this means is a loss leader,is a product a single product that they, actually sell for less money than it,costs so let's say for example a carton,of eggs walmart sells carton of eggs, they butter they buy it for one dollar, and they actually sell it for 85 cents, they're losing 15 cents on that carton,of eggs but then guess what one of the, strategies to using the loss, principle is you put the carton of eggs, next to some bread because typically, people buy eggs they have eggs and toast, right you also put butter next to it you, also put up eggs seasoning next to it,things that have a lot higher markup, profitability and what that means is,they're expecting a customer to come, into the store to buy the eggs because, they know the customer knows that that, egg they're those at that carton of eggs,is actually sold for a great deal they, know that it's below price they know,it's an awesome deal they specifically,go to that store to get that bargain but, while they're there they say gosh you, know I do need bread too so Walmart, places those eggs next to other products, that have a lot more markup, profitability a lot more profit margin,so if they even if they're losing 15,cents on the carton of eggs let's say, that they have a dollar profit on a loaf,of bread so what that means is they're,just considering the collective by the, collective purchase the visit of the, customer is at a profit of 85 cents, because take a dollar profit of the, bread - the 15 cents loss of the eggs, they're assuming that through the, purchase of other items their profit 85,cents from having that loss leader the, reason they call it a loss is because, they lose money the colloidal leader is,because it brings you into the store,it's the reason it's the front it's the, very first thing that you came there to,buy is the leader so a couple of,strategies to implement this loss leader, just to give you an idea of Hall like, let's say a grocery store we use it god, that's very common

PRICING STRATEGY: How To Find The Ideal Price For A Product
PRICING STRATEGY: How To Find The Ideal Price For A Product
pricing your products is a big decision, that will ultimately have a large effect,on your business,a strong pricing strategy is a lot more, than just calculating the costs and, adding a markup,so today i'm going to show you eight, effective pricing strategies, that will help you make your business, more competitive and make more sales, now pricing your products always starts, off with math, you absolutely need to know how much it,costs to make a product or obtain a,product and get it to market, this includes your production costs, business costs, marketing costs and shipping and, handling costs but though it,always starts with simple math a pricing, strategy, isn't all arithmetic the reality is that, humans are creatures of emotion, and it's incredibly rare that we make, all our decisions exclusively through, the lens of logic, here is a simple truth what a customer,is willing to pay for a product isn't,really about, how much the product costs what it's,actually about,is how they perceive the product's value,so let's get into some pricing, strategies that just might change the,way you think about pricing your, products, first let's talk about cost plus pricing, cost plus pricing is by far the easiest, way to think about pricing your products,i'm mentioning it here first simply, because it's popular, not because it's the best pricing, strategy cost plus pricing is exactly, what it sounds like, calculating the costs of your products, and adding on a markup, for retailers this markup is often, double the wholesale price, but the market percentage is variable, depending on your business, while this strategy does preserve a nice, profit margin, there are some issues because it doesn't,take into account market factors, like competition or demand for your, product so it can actually lead to a,situation where you're charging, too much or too little next we have, competitive pricing, competitive pricing is when you check, out what your competitors are charging,to figure out the going rate, then rather than focusing on profit, margin as a starting point, this pricing strategy is about making, the price of your products, comparative and you can do this one of,two ways the first is pricing your, products, slightly lower than competition thereby, attracting value shoppers who are price, sensitive, think walmart versus whole foods if you, have lower costs and can actively, promote your special pricing, then this can communicate that your, brand is economic and accessible, the second is pricing your products, slightly higher signaling that your, product, might be better in quality think, starbucks versus dunkin donuts, competitive pricing is often used in,highly saturated markets, with highly similar products where, pricing can be a differentiator, next we have price skimming price gaming,is when a company, charges the highest possible price for a,product right from the outset, and then decreases it over time this is,a pricing strategy that apple has used, for years, price skimming works best when there is,scarcity of a product, and

How is Walmart Making Money by Pricing Below Cost?
How is Walmart Making Money by Pricing Below Cost?
I’m Alex Berman and you’re watching SELLING
BREAKDOWNS.,Although there are many different industries
and services and products, there is one thing, that ties all businesses together; you sell
your product for more than it costs, right?,Well, not always.,Today we’re going to look at the idea of
loss leaders, where retailers sell some items,at a loss in order to attract customers.,We’ll use Walmart as our main example but
we’ll look at a few others too.,Let’s start with some recent news.,In case you hadn’t heard, Amazon recently
bought Whole Foods and their first act, practically,on day one, was to slash prices.,It seems strange, doesn’t it?,Whole Foods is a really strong brand, famous
for it’s high quality produce.,Why not just use the existing Amazon distribution
structure to help it expand?,Well Amazon know that the reason they are
so dominant online is that they operate at,very fine margins, and Walmart are not that
much different.,So, if you want to compete in the grocery
business, you have to go cheap; seriously, cheap.,Even if you forget about coupons, it’s possible
to buy a basket of something in Walmart where, the store would be making zero profit or even
a loss on every single item.,The most common are dairy products like milk
and eggs.,A gallon of milk might sell for four bucks
but it could cost them $6 from the supplier.,Eggs typically sell for a 10% loss or more.,It’s true for many other household items
like toilet paper, health and beauty products,,some frozen goods.,But the whole point of a supermarket is that
you don’t go in there just to buy two items,,you’re there for the price AND the convenience,
so you’ll do all your shopping in one place.,And if you know that the groceries you always
need, such as milk and eggs, are cheaper in,Walmart than any other store, that will be
where you shop.,You’re not going to pick up the eggs and
milk, checkout, and then drive to the next, store with the cheapest chicken, then the
next store with the best price on beer.,No, they hook you in with your regular items
and know that they’ll turn a profit on the, other things in your basket.,It’s their enormous size that allows them
to have so many of these loss leaders; they, simply have the revenue to walk these margins,
knowing that all they need to do is keep getting, people through the doors and enough customers
will buy big profit margin items, to cover, for the super savers.,The model of the groceries business is what
a lot of businesses want; loyal customers, making regular purchases because volume is
what makes you the real money, most of the, time.,Better to have a million customers making
you $1 profit, than one customer making you,$1 million, because you can’t rely on just
one customer and it might be hard to find, another.,But, if you can sell to a million people,
why not 2 million, 3,4 and on and on.,So, when Gillette sell you a razor, they don’t
need to make any money on the handle, which,is expensive to produce; you can have that
for free for all th

How The Music Industry Uses Losses To WIN Big
How The Music Industry Uses Losses To WIN Big
over the past three decades remixing has
become a very prominent part of the music we ,listened to today it's pretty much everywhere on
billboard especially in the last couple of years, but have you ever wondered how major artists and
producers are able to cash in big while continuing ,to sample even after dealing with losses due to
legal copyright issues let's explore the wins ,losses as well as a different type of remixing
and how artists and producers can win big ,using one fundamental business
concept called a loss leader,chapter one everything's a remix it's said
that there is nothing new under the sun it's ,written in the bible itself how does this
apply to music well a lot of records come ,from two forms of music remixing called
sampling and interpolation sampling is a ,technique of digitally encoding music or sound
and reusing it as a part of a composition or ,recording if you're not familiar with
sampling maybe you've heard this song ,sampling isn't only exclusive to music
many directors sample in their movies ,i love to be at the akira slide too i got to do it
now most notably known for this is quinn tarantino, the second form of music remixing is called
interpolation in pop music interpolation is ,also called replaying the sample and using the
melody or portions of the melody for the new song ,interpolation is often used when the artist
or the label who owns the piece of music ,declines to license the sample or if licensing
the piece of music is considered too the costly ,uh you know unfortunately with samples uh
there is a risk sometimes that the people ,that own the sample um can be difficult and
they either want too much money for you to ,clear the sample or they just don't want you to
use the period this is more of a case i think of ,you know financially it just was it wanted
ridiculous terms uh you know to use the ,master so i i get in that situation and i
call g coop you know he's one of the best in ,the world at reinterpreting the sound again
whatever it is that they did on that record,is this inspired by olivia newton john let's
get physical yes absolutely that's overt yes ,on purpose absolutely like i was in the studio
like let's get physical but the thing is i was ,humming that and i didn't realize i was humming
that song and then i was like that sounds like ,this when a song is made there is 100 ownership
split between the songwriters and the publishers ,although many artists are turned off from sampling
due to unfavorable terms on the song ownership ,remixing has birthed many artists careers chapter
2 you win some you lose some now that we know the ,core fundamentals of sampling and interpolation
we could talk about the wins and the losses ,this is called a loss leader i'm going to use an
example of a famous store we've probably all been ,to before costco costco is notoriously known
for having cheap chicken at the price of 4.99 ,and the infamous hot dog combo for a d

Loss Leader Pricing (PRICE)
Loss Leader Pricing (PRICE)
let's have a Power sesh on the final, pricing strategy that is mostly the, pricing so loss leader pricing it's when,a product is sold at a price that is,less than its cost for example it costs, you seven pounds to make you're good and,you charge six quid for it in the shop,so you're going to make a one-pound loss,on that good Y and earth would you set a,price lower than the cost here's why so,your main pro is that encourages, customers into the outlet into the shop, where they are likely to buy our gluts,as critical they're gonna buy other, things not just the things the loss, leader so they're gonna buy our goods, and the idea is those other goods they, have a high profit margin what I mean by,that is that maybe they also cost 70 to,make but you're selling them at 30 quid,at 17 with much more there's a higher, marginal profit so the key is overall, yeah if you take a loss of that but on,the other items with high profit margins,it leads to overall you make a profit, and that's the key overall per visit to,the shop to outlet you make a profit,it's called loss leader pricing because,it is you take a loss to lead them into, your shop to make more sales and make, more overall profit but the problem and,the danger we've lost leader pricing is,bulk buying sometimes it's called, stockpiling and basically what it is is,that some geezer might come into your, shop and buy ten thousand iPhone cases, because you doing a loss leader pricing,on your iPhone cases and that's really, could be a problem because thirty iPhone, cases will be in charge of six quid and,it costs you seven quid to make one well, that's if it happens ten thousand times, you're taking ten thousand losses of one, pound so you're losing ten thousand, pounds that is not good for you not good, okay the evaluation and basically when I,put a valuation here I mean under what, circumstances will lost leader pricing, work best here's four reasons so one,is that to prevent this guy coming in,and buying those 10,000 cases you want,to have a situation where you make it,clear the maximum offer of this la,salida pricing is for example - so max, often - so in this case the bulk buying, that guy could only come in and buy two, cases not ten thousand because the max, buyers - and you make it clear in the, promotions, number two is the type of good the type,of good you want it to be perishable, perishes the Buzzard perishable meaning, eating decay quickly such as milk eggs, and bread supermarkets are classics they, love it they love using milk bread eggs,on a losted pricing strategy they, purposely charge those items at a loss,to drag consumers into their shop, because of milks cheap get them into, their shop so that they can sell those, other items to them that have got that, higher profit margin in combination, number three is the location you put the, good in your shop because if you put, them ideally at the back of your shop, where you have this promotion you'll,forcing the customers to come all the,way through the shop past every single, good tha

Why Companies Are Selling In Loss | Loss Leadership | Marketing Concept | Hindi
Hello friends(dosto), my name is Sahil Khanna and you are watching intellectual indies. Today we'll talk about Loss leadership.,I really like this concept,And do tell me in the comments if you like this video.,Subscribe intellectual indies , press the bell icon and never miss any update.,See there comes a time in a year when rates of onion are low,100-80-120Rs/kg.,But big bazaar sell it at 20Rs/kg.,15rs/kg, what is this?,Do they store all the onions?,Or they've some analyst for the rates of onion.,Is it possible ?,There's nothing like this.,We can not analyse the rates of onions.,Rates goes up immediately and big bazaar declines rate of onions with this news.,What is the motive behind this strategy?,Whenever you go to a store,Big stores,Like big bazaar, walmart types.,What do they do? they sell you products in loss.,Suppose one product is of 100rs,They'll sell it at 90rs to you.,That time when rates are 100rs/kg,They may take in bulk and it'll cost them around 60 or 50rs/kg,But they are selling at 20rs.,Because they know if you come to buy onion.,but they put some conditions to it.,that you can buy only 2 kg.,So to buy 2kg onion,You won't travel specially for that only?,SO along with 2 kg onion, you may buy some more things,They'll get their profit.,Side by side in order to build their leadership,They put themselves in loss.,Let's try to undersand this,When onion was 80rs , big bazaar sold it at 20rs.,Public will consider them next time too.,When i go to buy a bottle of pepsi worth 80rs.,They are selling it at 70rs.,and no one is giving this much discount.,and you get this feeling that Big Bazaar is good.,with good discount.,Here game begins.,They indeed give discounts.,side by side , they're trying to win your heart.,and they bear the loss.,Now you are their regular customer.,Amazon , paytm,All are selling in loss.,But they do put limitations on it.,Why is it?,If they are selling at lower price, then i may buy 1 lakh piece.,Because they know they are selling in loss.,Today this person will take a produc worth 100rs.,Next time he'll buy from me.,That's why frauds happens,I know some people who do it.,They sell books on amazon, and they sell it to amazon at 100rs.,But amazon sometimes sell it at 50rs.,What do they do? they buy their own books.,and they get a profit of 50rs.,and resell it again.,They have multiple ids.,Big game it is.,And we don't even know about these frauds., ,Now some people get offended when i talk about frauds.,But this is the truth.,Let's get back to the point.,Point is there are many companies who are selling in loss,In order to win hearts of their customer.,This is the reason ecommerce websites are in loss., ,Now how will you integrate this in your business.,Think about it.,If you want any advice , then you can mail me., ,Or if you sell 10 products and they are related to each other.,Then do not hesitate to bear loss of one product.,This will build a connection,Just like we do in chemicals.,We sell many products in no loss a

McCarthy Humiliated by Failed Speaker Vote as House GOP Explodes into Chaos: A Closer Look
-Today, Republicans exploded
into absolute chaos,,unlike here at this show,

MAGA members,blocked GOP leader
Kevin McCarthy,from winning enough votes
to become,speaker
on the first two ballots.,It's the first time the House
has failed to elect a leader,on the first ballot in a century
and will almost certainly lead,to even more
GOP infighting and chaos.,For more on this, it's time
for "A Closer Look.",♪♪,It would take far too long,to recount all
the political tumult,we experienced
in the year 2022 --,the January 6th revelations,,the sedition charges
for insurrectionists,,the criminal charges
for Trump cronies,,the FBI's search of Mar-a-Lago,,the Supreme Court decision
overturning Roe v. Wade,,the response
to Russia's war in Ukraine,,and the shocking
midterm election result,that defied decades
of historical precedent,,among many other things.,Now, if, after all of that,,you were hoping
that 2023 would usher,in a new era
of calm and normalcy,,then please allow me
to introduce you to one,Rudolph Giuliani, seen here,,realizing he wrote not just 2022
on a check today,,but also that he wrote "bribe"
in the memo.,Anyway, Rudy was at Mar-a-Lago,to celebrate New Year's

and to ring in the New Year,,he recorded and then posted
online a very bizarre video, where you can't hear
a word he's saying.,We're going to show you the

doesn't realize it.,[ Loud, indistinct music

for playing "Footloose",for a crowd
that is almost certainly,medically incapable
of doing the "Footloose" dance.,"Footloose" sounds
like an excuse,Rudy would give
for being late to a meeting.,"Sorry, boss.
I got a foot loose.,The toes on the right one
are facing backwards,,so even when I run,
I go in a circle.",Also, this is just
some advice for anyone,on any screen,
myself included.,It's one of the first things
I learned in television.,Never lead with your chin.,No one's chin
is their finest attribute,,especially when
you're 78 years old.,If you fell asleep during Fallon, and woke up to me
looking like that,,you would change
the channel immediately.,Here, I'll prove it.,Hey.,What happened?,You fall asleep?,You fall asleep during Fallon?,Well, we're happy to have you.
Check out the show.,There is one more thing
I have to point out, before we move on -- Rudy,
has since deleted this video,,but when he originally
posted it on Twitter,,he did so with the caption --
and this is 100% real...,Either Rudy
forgot what year it was,or he successfully, traveled exactly one year

both explanations are feasible.,If Rudy had a DeLorean,,I absolutely believe
