Smart Contract Tutorial: Deploy Working Roulette Wheel on Ethereum!

what's up everyone michael here today,i've got a great video for you guys,we're going to be building a roulette,wheels smart contract a roulette wheel,smart contract is actually the first,smart contract that i,ever built and deployed on ethereum to,do it we're going to be using,remix as our in-browser ide and we're,also going to be using,chain-link vrf chain-link vrf is an,awesome tool,that provides verified randomness on the,blockchain,because your smart contract code is,public if you try and create randomness,using some,semi-random way like taking a hash of,the current block,hackers can actually predict this and,then,gamble only when they know what the the,right answer will be and you don't want,that because then you'll lose all of,your money in your roulette wheel,chain like brf fixes this by providing,verified randomness on the blockchain,in this video first we're going to get,set up by installing metamask and,getting some covant testnet,eth and link into our metamask wallet,then we're going to code our smart,contract in remix and test it,finally we're going to deploy our smart,contract onto the kovan test network the,deployed version of the contract would,be functioning completely,and if you want to you can actually,deploy onto the ethereum mainnet and run,your own blockchain casino,although i don't recommend that because,it's probably illegal where you live,all right let's get started by,installing metamask all right well the,first step,is to go to google and search for the,metamask browser extension,the first result will be this metamask,chrome extension so go ahead and go to,the chrome store and download it for,chrome,i already have my mask installed so i'm,not going to download it,but if you are downloading it for the,first time,you might want to restart your chrome,browser in order for it to work,then you can go and pin the extension up,into your toolbar,if you're using metamask for the first,time go ahead and create an account,once you have an account go ahead and,open metamask and then,you'll see your account here and your,current youth balance which should be,zero,um and go ahead and click on this,ethereum mainnet we're going to switch,our network to the coven network,which is what we'll be testing on so,once you click that drop down you should,see covent test network,and so go ahead and click on that as now,you can see i actually already have some,covenanted,but you're probably going to need to get,some uh so the way to do that is to go,to a coven,uh testnet faucet so let's go ahead and,do that now so there are two main,faucets for kovin,i'll make sure to link both of them in,the description below,um the first is the skitter.iam,basically you have to,there are some instructions here but you,have to sign in make an account and then,post your your address and then you'll,be able to get some coven,the other is this faucet.kovan.network,where you can log in,with github and request coven if you,really get stuck on this go ahead and,drop

Digital Micromirror Devices - in-depth operation

hey guys this is a follow-up to Ben,Krasner's recent video about digital,micromirror devices I urge you to check,out his video first as he goes over the,basics of DMD operation as well as takes,a DMD apart and puts it under an,electron microscope it's getting some,really really cool images in this video,we'll look at an actual DMD in operation,so let's take a look at some of the,modulation techniques needed to produce,grayscale and color images as well as,some of the other applications you can,use DMD s for other than direct imaging,I have to give a big shout-out to my,former employer Petco design for letting,me borrow this DMD board they specialize,in optical and electronics design let's,go check them out at Petco design comm,this board is used in a product called,one light spectra it basically allows,you to download images on to the DMD,over a USB connection it's basically,just on the right side a copy of the DMD,TI DMD development board example which,is just the the DMV chip obviously plus,this dad 1000 row driver this provides,high voltage drive signals I think is 26,volts to drive the the mirror switching,as well as a Xilinx FPGA which is their,effectively their chipset they just,provide a configuration ROM for it and,this passes data from our system the,Altera FPGA to the DMD and on this side,is basically just a USB interface chip,of the Cypress USB and an Altera,FPGA that converts that into the format,needed by the DMV Dev system this,particular chip is the DMD 3000 which is,an XG a or a 1280 or 1024 by 768 DMD,this one can refresh it up to 16,000,monochrome images per second the data is,sent between the devices over 32,differential pairs running at about 500,megahertz once you've got a DMD,operational making a rudimentary,projector is actually very simple,since the mirrors turn to plus and minus,12 degrees you need to simply need to,apply illumination at a 24 degree angle,come,from the in marking in this case at 45,degrees to the to the right angle of the,set of the the device so right here,we've just got a lens this or the long,focal length because the optical path is,a little bit difficult because you have,to if you can't have the lens too close,to the DMD and in the National projector,or most device using these you have a,special prism that will take light in,basically at an angle like straight in,like this deflect it down at the right,angle and then allow the lens to be,mounted close in on the front but in,this case we can just use a flashlight,to eliminate it from the side so if we,turn that on and push this into the,light under the lens now if we take a,look up we can see the projected image,there it's not particularly bright but,it it does work and it's pretty good,resolution it may seem so simple but,it's really cool seeing the image change,on a sort of DIY projector like this and,here it is from the chip side it's so,odd seeing an image just change on chip,like that just Ness not something you,normally see the downside with this,
