today we're going to talk about the,impact of annoying pop-up forms because,everyone loves those things so we're,going to just jump right in pop-ups,everyone knows about them everyone kind,of hates them this is the guy who,created them his name is Ethan Zuckerman,in 1990s he was an advertising guy they,had a site called tripod.com and thought,this is a good way to advertise on their,property what he ended up saying was he,feels bad about it we all know how it,makes us feel he acknowledges that,pop-ups have ruined the internet and he,actually said he teaches the MIT now he,said that he wishes that he never,invented the pop-up because of how,prevalent and misused and annoying it,can be we get to today it's almost 30,years later and it is just everywhere,nike.com emarketer essentially any site,you're on you're going to see a pop-up,some point and it's there they grab your,attention and Hope get you to sign up,but we all know the feelings we get the,feels we get we get there like all this,content's great we're super happy to,read this and then boom oh what the like,where do I click out why are they doing,this to feel insulted that you've got,there and now they're trying to Hoodwink,you into something else or tricked,you're frustrated that you can't get the,content that you were LED there to read,or the maybe the thing you're supposed,to buy or you just were there to browse,you don't care that much about them,ultimately you just become instantly,unengaged it becomes a hurdle to reach,what you're looking at and unless you,are really into that product that brand,that content the article that video it,can increase your bounce rate,significantly so today what we're going,to go through is a lot of the research,along this I went in and I probably,spent 30 to 50 hours looking at really,cool and happy white papers this was the,white paper it was just texted upon text,there's a other Professor articles,written in journals very similar big,point the same thing so looking into the,research they found if you have a sticky,call out it doesn't get your engagement,that much the animated one will grab,your engagement but it won't be that,annoying but on the extremely annoying,side is the pop-up we also see that it's,not that useful actually there's a,negative correlation between usefulness,and a pop-up with annoying and a much,higher correlation between a distraction,or creepiness factor with Annoying with,pop-ups as we continue that research,Google ended up saying hey we don't like,pop-ups either and we're going to Google,slap you if you use it too intrusively,we're going to penalize you and your,rankings are going to fall so search,engine ranking so essentially what they,said was if you're using a pop-up which,covers the main content immediately,after landing or it's when you land it's,above the fold appears as an,interstitial and you have to click down,to see more or you have to force,somebody out of that interstitial before,where they see the content those are al

an embedded form that are most commonly found in ,the footer of a website or in some landing pages
and secondly a pop-up which is much more effective ,for you to grow your email list and collect more
email addresses this video will mainly focus on ,Shopify and Shopify plus but the process is more
or less the same if you're on different platform ,like WooCommerce and big commerce so without
further ado let's jump right into Klaviyo,so let's jump right into Klaviyo before you
add any forms to your site you need to add the ,signup form code snippet I have Klaviyo
open in one tab Shopify open in another ,and the website open in another tab so
within Klaviyo navigate down to sign up forms ,click install code snippet now what you
need to do is to copy this code over here,go on to your Shopify store under online store,in the theme that you're using for your
website click actions and edit code,now if we refer to this instructions we'll need to ,copy the code and and paste it before the closed
body tag so go on to the theme liquid code ,and navigate your way down to the closed body
script so just paste the code anywhere before ,this slash body script paste it
over here and we'll click save,so now that you have installed the snippet that
gives ClearView the ability to add forms and ,pop-ups to your site don't close the Shopify tab
just yet because we will need to access it later ,finally before we build the popups or forms you
will need a list within Klaviyo to collect the ,subscribers we recommend triggering a welcome

what we've released recently is,something called conversational pop-up,and if you think that pop-ups have been,working well for you,this is gonna 3x your your pop-up game,how um as i said we've been running in,experiments with our clients and,actually today i got the results so we,had an experiment where we compared a,traditional pop-up on the on the home,page which is basically like what you,said 10,yeah 10 20 right there's no,personalization,we compared this one with what we call,conversational pop-ups so conversational,pop-ups instead of just giving random,discounts,they ask users to to choose whatever it,is that they're interested in so the the,purpose here is to start the,conversation make the journey,personalized for your homepage visitors,okay so we tested the traditional pop-up,versus the conversational pop-up and how,are they different,yeah let me just uh remember the exact,numbers so traditional pop-up had,six percent conversion rate 6.7 or eight,uh where on the other hand,conversational pop-up,had,21,conversion rate so that's like three,times more than three times in,engagement,and how,how are you guys tracking conversions,does that mean email capture,email and sms what are you guys looking,at there,we for this experiment we we,experimented with the email so we're,trying to capture,emails but then also we we wanted to,test this on like what kind of support,we got from,for for the revenue by using,conversational pop-ups it's just like,give or take 20 25 more,revenue on the conversational pop-up,versus the traditional pop-up for us for,for for our clients,and i'm really excited to see all these,results,what so i would love to dive into this,is because because it's very very,interesting right if you could like,triple or triple your opt-ins and boost,your revenue by 25,so when you are designing this,experiment and you're looking at okay,well we've got a traditional pop-up what,was the traditional offer that you guys,were offering,uh traditional offer is basically um,let's say that i'm landing on the,website for the first time or a visitor,in this experiment what were you guys,offering can you can you talk about what,you're offering yeah the ten percent off,give me your um 10 off it was ten,percent off yeah,and then what about on the on the,conversational commerce what was like,the,how did you guys design this to make it,different,it's it's still a ten percent off by the,way like we didn't play with the number,but the way conversation pop-ups are set,up changes a lot of things i can i can,tell you why,so with the traditional pop-up we just,ask name and email and that's it um and,that's that's that could be quite,annoying,right because i'm randomly sending you,discount codes i don't know what's it,that you're looking for i'm just been,asking for your email why should you,give me your email,you didn't give me any value right on,the conversational pop-up side we start,by,asking people what is it that you're,interested with today what are you,l
