hi folks this is Andre from times act,and in today's tutorial we're talking,about templates now templates as the,name suggests are reusable settings for,your products mainly for the messaging,parts of what you're actually going to,be showing on your website for either,pre-order back in stock or the coming,soon option right,for those of you who have used our app,before templates you'll remember that,when you were adding products into the,app you had the option of either,selecting default settings which were,the settings you created in your,settings tab in the app or using custom,settings in case you had a different,wording for the different products right,now while that was pretty useful and,straightforward the issue was that let's,say you you made a mistake and you know,writing your messaging and you need to,go back and change something well you,would have to first select everything,that you wanted then hit edit then input,what you wanted and then hit save and,you know that was time waster plus if,you needed to make like multiple changes,over a short period of time it was,maddening a little bit so that's where,templates kick in because you would just,need to modify stuff in one place and,then even if you added tens or hundreds,of products into the app all those,changes would be carried to all of those,different products,okay so that is where the time saving,really kicks in,uh and I I think you should begin with,the templates every time you want to,perform an action in the app like add a,product or something like this is the,starting place for everything and you,can find the templates here under,settings you have templates here okay,and you'll notice that you have three,Global default templates right so for,those of you who actually don't need the,different wording for different product,options you can just go ahead and use,these defaults right so these are the,things that we're gonna we're gonna go,to like if you have no other templates,that have been created and you add a,product into the app right so by default,these are going to be the templates and,let's actually take a look at one like,I'm going to hit edit here on the,pre-order and as you can see it's pretty,standard stuff so pre-order button the,message I'm using a dynamic variable in,here and we have a whole tutorial on how,to use Dynamic variables like the,shipping date or the days left until the,pre-order camera campaign ends right in,your templates that I think you'll find,very useful and again it's going to be a,great time Savers because think about,like if you have different messaging for,your different products in terms of,shipping dates but the rest of it is the,same right then you would just need to,create the one template with the use of,the dynamic variable and then just fill,in different values for that Dynamic,variable,and it'd be a lot simpler okay and this,this variable you can use in your cart,label as well,then because it's a pre-order you also,have the mixed card alert ri

How to Setup a Product for Pre-order - Shopify Pre-order App

hey everyone uh thanks for checking out,pre-order now my name is jude and i'm,the ops manager of,this amazing,beautiful application called pre-order,now,um in this video i'll be showing you how,to enable,your very first pre-order product on,your store,to get started open the app,and,click on install or uninstall tab right,here,click on it and select your theme in my,case i'm using a debut theme,therefore,i've chosen the debut theme,so,feel free to choose yours okay,uh don't forget get to hit the save,button here,because uh,this step is crucial as our app will,adapt its settings according to what you,select in here,if by chance your theme is not included,in this list,then just choose the default it's okay,alright just don't forget to hit the,save button,now the next step is to go back home,home tab that is,and then type the name of your product,in this field and then hit enter or,click the search button here,i'm going to be using my salad as an,example,and,for the sake of context,this is how it looks at the moment you,see it's sold out,we've set this product with a bunch of,variants in it so we're gonna enable the,pre-order for this particular variant,the size is small and the packages to,take,all right,okay so let's search for that,great uh pre-order now seems to found,our product,hit the edit button which is this pen,icon right here,like so,for this example we will be enabling,pre-order only,to this uh specific variant leaving the,rest of the variants as is we're not,gonna be touching this,uh remember the small size and to take,package so we're going to enable this,one,and we will be using the default,settings for now,hit the save button,and we're prompted with this message,about,overselling,so this will not break your site this is,normal i'll explain this in a bit but,for now let's choose save and enable,great,you should see a pre-order enabled text,on your screen like this one it should,be green not yellow not red green,because we have a bunch of,color indicators right here,okay,all right um going back to the term,oversell what exactly is that,um when you create a product in shopify,and,you've indicated the number of stocks,say for this one we have,zero for this variant we have eight,click edit,and this is what you're presented with,now,in the inventory section right here,notice that you have this,option,this option,tells your store,to whether or not it will continue to,sell out of stock products or variants,so by default,this particular checkbox is unchecked,it's disabled,basically,the prompt that we saw earlier,is,let's just say pre-order now,check this for you or enable this one,for you,okay so that will enable overselling,therefore even if the product is zero it,will continue to sell,and since we're,on the topic of stocks let me give you a,brief explanation,of what default settings and custom,settings are or the difference,the default settings is the settings,found on the settings tab right here so,i've just clicked it,you can call this yo
