How to Setup the Shopify Buy Now Button and Use Cases

hi I'm Alma kin from curious themes web,development studio in Nashville,Tennessee and in this video tutorial we,are going to go through adding in the,Buy button sales channels so if you saw,my other videos we already added in the,Facebook and Pinterest sale channels so,that way we could actually sell on those,different social media networks so this,time we're going to go through adding in,the Buy button which lets you then embed,your products on other websites or blogs,and actually have people be able to,purchase from there so to do that we are,just going to hit this plus sign for,sales channels and it's gonna pop up a,display for us to choose from so we're,just going to click this Buy button,we're gonna click Add so now that the,Buy button sales channel is installed,which you can always get back to in this,left-hand menu by clicking on buy button,we are now going to go through adding in,our products or collections that we want,to showcase this on so I am wanting to,showcase this on a blog post that I did,for a men's holiday shopping guide so,this is for my site the delightful gent,which sells men's accessories like bags,watches and sunglasses so the items in,this guide the bag and the two watches,are actually ones that we sell on this,site so we want to have it posted here,so that people can quickly purchase it,right after seeing this blog post so,let's go back to the Shopify back-end so,we could choose to either do a select,product so you could choose the select,product and pick your products from here,however since I have three different,products I've actually gone in and,created a collection with them so from,this collection I'm just going to embed,the collection of products so that it's,a little bit easier for people to shop,so I'm going to click this select,collection and then that I'm then going,to pick this mints holiday shopping,guide and hit select collection,and then you see it gives us our options,here so we're gonna have this click on,action on click be the Add to Cart so,this will actually add it directly to,their cart and we're gonna keep the,image you could choose this to be small,medium or large however I think this is,a good size and so we're just going to,go through these options and customize,things a little bit so for the button,style instead of the green I have the,hex color that I'm using for my buttons,on my site currently so I'm going to do,it a blue just to match that and I'm,going to take away the rounded corners,so I'm really just doing this to make it,match my site currently you can make it,to show the quantity field however these,products aren't really ones that you,would buy multiples of so I'm going to,avoid doing that for now and click back,here and do typography and so I am using,the railway font on the site so I'm,gonna go in and choose the railway font,so again that way it's just matching our,branding okay and I could even choose,you know to do the headings we could do,railway bold so the headings are nice,and

Hey everybody.,This is Ori from Astral Web, and I'm going to introduce to you the,Shopify Buy button.,Okay. So what is a Buy button?,A Buy button is a way for you to embed or use, put your products on other websites.,Your partners websites, your affiliates, your friends, your cousins, etc. Okay?,So it's an easy way for you without any coding to create some kind of a nice view of your product,or products, and then allow someone else to integrate those,,embed them on their site and maybe you can share,revenue or you can just be friendly or, etc.,So, how do you do this?,And, I want to show you some examples.,Number one, you actually have to go and add a sales channel for the Buy button. Okay?,So I click here on add, if you don't have it already, and I scroll down, and I go to the Buy button,,and I add it.,Okay?,It's going to take 20 or 30 seconds.,It's going to load, you're going to integrate it, allow the Buy button channel to integrate,with your site. Okay.,That's basically what's going on.,So you're going to look at the permissions, your Buy button will be able to do all,these cool things.,Okay?,So I'm going to do it, and I'm going to let it run.,Okay?,So now I'm going to start and create my first button.,Let's click on create.,So you see here there's a sales channel, another one called Buy button.,So there's two types.,Number one is that you can actually embed on another site one single product.,Like, the product, the picture, the price, etc.,and the button, all the, you know, Add to Cart or Buy.,The other one, you can do a collection.,So a collection is a group of products, like a category, you can embed multiple.,So let's show you both, right?,So, the first one is product.,Now you're going to be able to see all of the products that you have in your system.,You can search for one.,For example, I want to, and this is my demo site and I want to sell, let's say,,this one, CLASSIC BACKPACK. Okay?,So I typed it in, and it's this one, and I can only select one as you see. so this is sort of the base default,experience using buy button je s so as,you can see there to know about know,HTML know CSS this is just JavaScript,initialization and all I've got here is,my GS script so I think I'll I'll just,right off the bat initializing and,making one method call here we've got a,lot more on our screen already so,there's a lot less work to do to just,sort of get what you want what what you,might like basically want if you want to,let someone buy things so I'm just going,to take a look at the code that I've,already got here,so the initial code here is exactly the,same as a JavaScript bias TK I just,literally copied and pasted to this and,then we initialize the UI library so,passing in our client that we just,created and then the main method that,you're going to call is called create,component and create component takes a,couple of takes one argument is a string,which is just the type of component that,you want to create,so other values might be collection,cards and then for product or collection,embeds you pass it an ID and so that's,the same as for js5 sdk where we grab,the ID from the from the from our admin,from the product ID so this gives us a,couple things,so once we've created a product,component just by default we get this,product embed which has you know an,image you can select a variant it,selects guess like variants for,different options it gives us this,little cart toggle that tells you come,yet I didn't sir in your cart and it,gives you this carton embed so this is,sort of your basic shopping cart dynamic,price of that down there and sort of,about your basic default ecommerce,experience with checkout so this is sort,of what we're trying to create in the,previous example except that,everything's kind of been created for us,so I can start to customize the,appearance of this event using,a big options object so after the ID the,next key that I can pass is called,options and there are a whole lot of,things that we can put in here so,because Craig component created actually,several elements on the screen so we've,got this product we've got this little,tab about the card itself we have to,specify which we're going to customize,so I want to customize the product so I,say product and first thing I'm going to,do is I'm just going to list my some of,the default options here so one thing I,can do is I can change the button from,adding something directly to the cart I,could change it so that instead it opens,up a modal window with more information,so I've got a button destination,property like I said that two modal so,now I have this nice little modal which,has you know a bit more information has,a quantity button if you wanted to say,hi your various lectures here and then,show them in the modal that might be an,easy way to save space here and another,easy way to change the appearance is to,change the layout so right now I've got,the default layout which is the vertical,layout I'm going to change that to you,horizontal so no

Advanced BuyButton.js Customization Demo

so my goal with this customization that,I'm going to do next is to basically,make my products embed a lot more,compact so this would be ideal if I,wanted to fit a lot more products in the,amount of space or if I just wanted to,make something that's a little bit less,intrusive takes up a little bit less,space and then once you click on it it,will give you more information open up,that modal so what I'm going to do first,is I'm going to just go into the content,and I'm going to take a whole lot of,things at so let's say options false,that's gonna save me a lot of space say,price falls and I'm gonna say title,false so just about the shoe and the,button now one thing that I think would,be nice before I click on this button is,if you could actually see the price,right and the button so I'm just going,to show you what that looks like so that,you know what I'm talking about so I'm,sort of like like this example here this,is something that we actually saw in the,wild that we thought was a cool example,so we sort of recreate this this look,where you've got the price right there,so to do that what I'm gonna have to do,is I'm going to have to actually edit,the template that creates this button,because right now all it does is it,renders that text that you set so I,think the templates is a little bit more,advanced because you need to know a bit,about mustache templates and what data,is being rendered in the templates but,the easiest way to do that is to just,start with what's already there so I'm,gonna go into the Buy button j/s code to,get what the default template is so this,is Shopify slash buy button chance this,is an open source repo all the code is,just your for you to look at I'm gonna,go into source and templates and this is,where all the mustache templates that,render the render the components live so,in product J s and C I've got this,mustache template for the button I'm,just gonna copy that,let me see back here and because we,don't have a preprocessor in component,make changes to the bar since I'm doing,anything right now it's just a string,mustache templates if they're not being,pre-processed they're just just strings,like any other string so it's a little,bit more complicated than you expect,because we've got things like you know,we want to make it look different if the,buttons disabled but it's fairly,straightforward to read so I just go to,access this data object and it's got,classes on it it's got properties,it's got data so what we want to do if,we want to put the price in that button,is I'm going to go back to my source,code I'm gonna find where the price,template is I'm just going to put the,price template inside the button,template so here's price got all this,stuff here again it's a little bit more,complicated than you'd expect because it,wants to check to make sure that there,is a selected variant before explaining,price so it's going to copy all of that,and I'm going to put it after the button,text so I'm going to add nice little,pipe
