ACCA F2 - Lecture 13 - Bulk Discounts
ACCA F2 - Lecture 13 - Bulk Discounts
in the last session we've calculated our, economic order quantity,so the order quantity which will, minimize the sum of our annual holding, and ordering costs, now one thing we assumed when we,calculated the economic order quantity, was that the purchase price for the, units would always be the same, regardless of our order quantity, now this may not always be the case,so for example our supplier may order us,a discount if we order more than a,certain number of units each time,if that is the case then the purchase, price is not constant, and we may discover that the economic, order quantity is no longer the most, economical order quantity, when there is a bulk discount available,we are going to have to do a little bit, more work to discover, what the best order quantity is,so let's have a look at an exercise then,to see what this extra work is,we're told then that bf manufactures a,range of domestic appliances, due to recent improvements bf is,re-examining its inventory holding, policies and recalculating, its eoq,so we're told item zed costs a thousand, pounds per unit,so this is our purchase price, expected annual production usage is 65,000 units that's our demand, procurement costs are 2,500,that's the cost of placing one order, and then we're told the cost of holding, one unit per annum is 300 pounds, now the supplier of item zed has, informed bf that if the order was 2 000,units or more a 2,discount would be given on the purchase, price,we've been told that our original, purchase price is a thousand pounds per, unit,if we order 2 000 units or more our, purchase price is going to come down,so if we get a two percent discount then, our new purchase price, will be 98,of the original purchase price so we're,taking off the two percent discount,so our purchase price would then be,980 pounds, okay,we've been asked to calculate the, economic order quantity for zed, before the quantity discount so ignoring, the discount, then we have to advise bf if they should, increase their order size of item zed in,order to get this discount,so we'll deal with the first bit first, just calculating the economic order, quantity,so we know our eoq, will be the square root of two times the,demand,sixty-five 000,multiplied by the cost of placing one, order, and divided by,the cost of holding one unit,so if you punch that into your, calculators you should get an economic, order quantity,of 1041,units,rounded to the nearest unit,so now the company has a choice should, they order,1041 units each time and minimize their, annual holding and ordering costs,or,would it be better for them,to order 2 000 units each time which, means they won't be minimizing their, holding and ordering costs but they will,be getting this discount on the purchase, price now the way we establish which, option would be better for the company,is that we need to look at,each order quantity, work out the annual holding and ordering, costs, but now we are also going to have to,work out the annual purchasing price for,the goods,at the two different order

Bulk discounts - CIMA F1 Financial Reporting
Bulk discounts - CIMA F1 Financial Reporting
this is a lecture from open tuition to,benefit from the lecture you should, download the free lecture notes, from opentuition.com we're now going to,go through and think about bulk, discounts, and try and determine whether or not it,is advantageous, from a cost perspective to buy goods in,bulk,to get the goods purchased at a cheaper, cost per unit, and whether or not that cheaper cost per, unit that we are now paying,is cheap enough to offset any additional, other costs such as holding costs or,ordering costs, that may therefore be incurred so what,we have to go through and do is we have,to go through there, and to see whether or not it is,advantageous to take account of the bulk, discount,we need to first of all work out the, total annual cost, based upon your economic order quantity,so trying to optimize the order based, upon our holding costs and, ordering costs and neglecting any bulk, discount, how much does that cost us overall per, annum, then what we go through and do that is,we work out the same total, annual cost if the discounts, were to be accepted so i.e if we bought, more goods in the economic order, quantity and by,buying more goods each order we get a,reduction in the cost per unit of the, goods and whether or not that is,therefore then beneficial,so it's important first of all to work, things out using your economic order, quantity and that total cost and then, using the information given in the, question i.e how many units do you need,to buy on each order to get, that bulk discount and then using those, figures to work out,the total annual cost so let's pull that, together, with example number two they're looking,at bulk discounts and it wants us to,look at what reorder quantity would, minimize the total cost now normally, your economic order quantity, minimizes your total cost doesn't it,but don't forget now we're considering, bulk discounts don't we so we need to,factor that into our analysis,so let's ignore bulk discounts for now, let's think about the economic order, quantity because what you've got that,is you've got your annual demand is,there as a,and twenty thousand units isn't it,uh your order costs are those thirty, dollars per order,uh holding costs of twenty dollars per, unit per annum,uh and then your material can normally, purchase for ten dollars per unit so,that's your normal, cost per unit which will help us work, out our purchase cost,uh based upon whatever our economic, order quantity is for our 120,000 units isn't it okay uh we'll come to,the book discounts after so what i'd,like you to go through and do,uh remember we need to go through there, don't we and work out our economic, order quantity our economic order, quantity, remember is the square root of two,cod over chips, okay i would like you to go through and, work out that figure stop the video, restart it once you're done and then see,if you've got the correct answer, okay excellent, did you stop the video okay hopefully, you went through and stopped it if,not criminal but it's your choice uh we,need to go

Multiple Automatic Discounts in Shopify now possible!
Multiple Automatic Discounts in Shopify now possible!
hello guys,in this video we will talk about, automatic discounts in shopify,as you know shopify allows only one, automatic discount,at the time so what i've done i've done, some research i've tested a few apps, and i found one that really works,so the app i found is called stack, discounts, okay we will go through the app for a,little bit and then,we will see how it works on the website, how does the app work so you basically, create the simple discounts in your, admin page and after you've done that, you add the codes in the app so i will, show you how,so we have a discount that applies when, you order two pairs of pants, and we have a discount that applies when, you order three pairs of pants, okay then we have two track suits three, track suits and then two three and four,uh leggings so,in this first page app status enabled, enable discount field on order pop-up,summary,embed discount field to cart with manual, installation, even if this is a custom theme we,managed to do it with manual, installation,no coding was needed so you have the, chat box here, you can always ask them to help you if,you need to,okay force individual use of discounts,we,did not check this box set maximum, discount value if you wish what we've,done here,we excluded some discounts from being, used together,so let's say we have an offer for two, pans and three pans what we don't want,is when a customer adds, two pairs and then he adds or she adds, the third pair,we don't want both discounts to be used,at the same time,so if you don't exclude them here that, will happen, they added to cart two pairs and then, they add the third pair, both discounts would be applied, automatically, this is another category and this is,another category, why we've done this because we want the, customer to be able,to have a discount if they order two, pairs of pants and then if they order, two leggings,we want the discounts from that category,to apply, and then if they order two or three, tracksuits that specific discount has to,apply automatically, after we've done this we go to,promotions, and then we have the discounts listed in,order highest discount to lowest, discount, combined discounts we left it blank so,we're not gonna combine any discounts, for the moment, they will combine automatically like i,said so i will show you how it works in,a second on preferences,we've translated this because it's uh,for a store based in romania, and that's about it now i will show you,how it works we go to the leggings, category we pick one, pick a size and we add two in the card,as you can see the discount was applied, automatically why is this app essential,so normally,if a client has a discount and they, apply it to the shopping cart, the discount will not show here it will, show in the checkout page so that, confuses people, now we want to go to a new category and,add that to card, let's choose this one and we add two, pairs,in the card as you can see now,we have four coal which is four leggings, and two pants both discounts applied, automatically, discount

economic order quantity with quantity discounts
economic order quantity with quantity discounts
hello welcome to operations management,in this lecture I will talk about EEO Q,with quantity discounts so this model is,mostly used when we get discounts for, bulk purchase so this will be same as yo,Q model so if you see the formula the, total cost this expression H Q over 2,plus B over Q s is same as our basic uuq, model however we will add a new, component which is PD that is price, which is PS unit price or cost and D is,the demand per year so we will be adding,a new component which is P times D I,will try to explain this concept by,using a problem so I will try to solve, this problem here is our question the, maintenance department of a large,Hospital uses about 816 cases of liquid, cleanser and valley ordering costs are, dollar twelve and carrying costs are, dollar for per case you and the new, price schedule is given in table below, determine the optimal order quantity and,the total cost so when you see this, table if you purchase one 249 now you, will get a product for a price of $20 if,you purchase 52 17:9 you will get for,$18 82 99 you will get for 17 dollars, and then 100 or more you will get, sixteen dollars per product so to solve, such problems we will use the first step,is to calculate your AO q or q optimal, which is given by square root of two DS,by H so our demand here D is if you see,816 cases is what the hospital is using,so that will be eight sixteen and then, our ordering cost which is s is $12 per, order and then our carrying cost or,holding cost H is $4 per per case per,you so we can substitute those values, here and see what is our optimal order, quantity so two DS by H so that is equal,to two times D is eight 16 multiplied by,s is 12 divided by 4 this is going to be,sixty nine point nine seven so I will, round it off to seventy cases so now we,see that our more our yoku model is,telling us to order seventy cases so if,you see 70 lies somewhere in this so I,will be getting a price of $18 so the, total cost formula in now to calculate, total cost the formula would be H Q over,2 plus D over Q times s now in quantity, discount we will add new component which,is price times demand so I will, substitute those values,so h is $4 q is we have a queue of 70,divided by 2 plus demand D is 8 16,divided by again Q is 70 multiplied by s,is $12 plus the price per unit we are, getting at $18 because we are ordering,70 units multiplied by the demand which,is 8 16 so if you calculate this you, will get 14 1968 so this is the total, cost when we order 70 units so this is I,will write T 70 here to make us,understand that we are ordering 70 units, now the thing is any anyways if we bulk,if we purchase in bulk we can get at $17,so we wanted to go ahead and see what if,I order certain quantity such that I can,get at $17 so if you see we have 70 we,are ordering at this time what if I,order 80 units can I get $17 and how, would my cost look so I can go and, calculate the total cost at $80 so this,is going to be my H is same so 4 times, now my order quantity Q is 80 so 80,divided

Quantity Discounts Example
Quantity Discounts Example
in this video we are going to talk about, how to make an inventory decision with, one of the discounts so let's consider, situation where we have demand per year,of 100,000 units and we have a holding, cost equal to 25% of the cost of item, and the cost to place an order, you also can think of as a set-up cost,is $500 and our supplier gives us a,different price depending on the, quantity that we buy so if we buy less, than 20,000 units so different order, quantities, have a different cost so if we buy less, than 20,000 the cost is $2,if we buy between 20 and less than a,hundred thousand the cost is a dollar, and ninety cents and if we buy one, hundred thousand or more the cost is a,dollar in eighty eight cents all right,so first thing we need to do is we need,to compute our economic order quantity, and the vlq formula always starts out, with a big square root and we have two, times the demand times the costs of,placing an order and then we divide that,by the holding cost and now sometimes, you just use always the same cost always, but we are going to take the holding, cost as a percentage of the value which,in this case is 25 percent so 0.25 times, the cost of the item all right so for, each of these three scenarios we may end,up calculating an economic order, quantity we're going to start with the, cheapest voq and if the order size the,eoq you for that turns out to be bigger, than a hundred thousand we can just stop,so let's see what happened to so if the, cost is the dollar and eighty eight, cents this is only going to be valid be,useful, for quantities that are greater than or,equal to 100,000 so let's compute Ariake,so we have 2 times the demand of 100,000,times the radical sign just still too, short two times hundred thousand times, five hundred dollars and then we divide,by the holding cost which in this case,is 0.25 times the cost of the item which,is dollar and eighty eight cents so if,you put that into your calculator we end,up with an answer of fourteen thousand, five hundred and eighty six so is that, bigger than a hundred thousand no I'm,sorry it is not so we are going to in a,little bit think about that we're going,to figure out what our costs would be if,we used an order size that would allow,us to actually get this price of a,dollar eighty eight now according to our, supplier the only way we can get a price,of the dollar eighty eight is to buy at,least a hundred thousand at a time, there's no reason to weekly so we can't,buy the fourteen 586 that's not going to,get us the price we're looking for so,we're gonna have to look at an order, size of a hundred thousand and we'll buy,a hundred thousand at a time and cost, per unit will be,alright so that was our first time now,if and again if this EO q had turned out,to be in the range where this is the, relevant price that is if the EO q had, turned out to be more than a hundred, thousand we could stop right now,no need to do any more p oq',calculations but obviously that didn't,happen so now we will look at the next, most ex

How to enable Bulk Discounts to sell more Groups using the WISDM Group Reg. for LearnDash
hey guys i'm ryan from wisdom labs and,i'm going to be explaining to you how,the bulk discounts feature from the, wisdom labs group registration plugin, works,so as you can see i'm at the back end of,my wordpress under learn dash lms group, registration settings, and i'm on the general settings over, here uh the last setting over here is,called pulse discounts as soon as i,switch that on,uh i'll i'll get this particular box, over here,uh where i can enter the minimum, quantity as well as the percentage, discount i want to be applied on that, minimum quantity,so i've already set it up i have set up,a 20,discount for a minimum of 10 seats, bought and a 25,discount on a minimum of 30 seats bought,so i've already set up the bulk discount, settings from here,so once you switch it on from the group, registration settings tab,uh this setting uh is generally saved as,the global, bulk discount settings and uh you will, also need to,enable this setting on the product that, you wanted to be applied to,so i'm gonna go to the product that i,have created as you can see i've created,a test product over here,i uh simply edit it and, scroll down to the bottom of the page uh,to the group registration settings,uh as you can see uh the bulk discount, setting over here,uh i have you can either disable it or,you can,uh enter a product level so if you, whatever you enter over here,it will be a product level uh bug, discount it won't be applied to all the, products but,if you select the global setting over, here it will essentially,uh pull the bulk discount setting from, the, group registration settings tab that we,set over here so,let's just hit update and let's see what, happens, okay so uh i am now,on the products page uh of my site, and i have applied the setting to uh,this particular product, which i'm gonna go into,so as you can see i'm on the woocommerce, product page for the set for the product, that i have set the bulk discounts for,so let's just go back and review the, setting once,uh it is uh a 20 discount for a minimum,of 10 seats,so let's try this out uh let's say uh i,enter 11 seats over here and i add this, product to my cart, let's go and check out what's happening,on the cart, okay so as you can see uh a discount of,20 has been applied,uh over here and the group discount is,also mentioned over here,uh similarly if i uh update this to,a minimum of 30 seats i will get a 25,discount as we have set over here,so once i do that i got a 25 discount, and,uh subtotal is altered uh accordingly,so uh this is this is the feature uh,called bulk discounts uh in the group, registration plugin by wisdom labs,if you have any questions regarding this, please reach out to us at helpdesk,wisdomlabs.com and we'll be more than, happy to help hope you like the video, guys thank you

this is a lecture from open tuition to,benefit from the lecture you should, download the free lecture notes from, open tuition com we're now gonna go,through and think about both discounts, and try and determine whether or not it,is advantageous from a cost perspective,to buy goods in bulk to get the goods, purchased at a cheaper cost per unit and, whether or not that cheaper cost per, unit that we are now paying is cheap, enough to offset any additional other, costs such as holding costs or ordering, costs that may therefore be incurred so,what we have to go through and do is we,have to go through there and to see, whether or not it is advantageous to,take account at the bulk discount we,need to first of all work out the total, annual cost based upon your economic, order quantity so trying to optimize the, order based upon our holding costs and, ordering cost and neglecting any bulk, discount how much does that cost us,overall per annum then what we go,through and do there is we work out the, same total annual cost if the discounts, were to be accepted so ie if we bought, more Goods than the economic order, quantity and by buying more Goods each, order we get a reduction in the cost per, unit of the goods and whether or not, that is therefore then beneficial so,it's important first of all to work, things out using your economic order, quantity and that total cost and then, using the information given in the, question ie how many units you need to,buy on each order to get that ball, discount and then using those figures to,work out the total annual cost so let's,pull that together with example number, two they're looking at both discounts, and it wants us to look at what reorder, quantity would minimize the total cost, now normally your economic order, quantity minimizes your total cost, doesn't it but don't forget now we're,considering both discounts don't we so,we need to factor that into our analysis,so let's ignore bulk discounts of an,let's think about the economic order, quantity because what you've got there,is you've got your annual demand is,there as a hundred and twenty thousand, unit isn't it your order costs are those, thirty dollars per order, holding caster 20 dollars per unit per, annum and then your material cannot be,purchased for $10 per unit so that's,your normal cost per unit which will, help us work out our purchase cost based, upon whatever our economic order, quantity is for our a hundred and twenty, thousand units isn't it okay we'll come,to the book discounts after so what I'd,like you to go through and do remember,we need to go through there don't we and, work out our economic order quantity our, economic order quantity remember is the, square root of two cod over chips I,would like you to go through and work, out that figure stop the video restarted, when she dumped and then see if you've,got the correct answer okay excellent, did you stop the video okay hopefully, you went through and stopped if not, criminal but it's your choice we need to,go through there and work o
